I like the term mining but I do understand the need for a more descriptive name for the process that makes it easy for people new to bitcoin to understand what is actually being done. Mining to the uneducated sounds like pulling money out of nothing. Making it simpler to understand the reason for this process would make bitcoin less of a "techno-geek" thing to people who think the Internet is Google, Facebook, and Ebay.

I think it might be related to the latentcy I have on satellite interwebs and getting new getworks.

Overdrive is showing 69-71C. My average on bitcoinpool usually shows around 250 mhash/s. I'm using poclbm-mod.

I just got the card the other day so I haven't really tried overclocking it much. I'm using the latest Catalyst drivers with my core clock at 900mhz and my memory clocked down to 900mhz.

It's idle most of the time. I'll change it to -f 30 if I'm using it but the fluctuation happens no matter what. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit.

When mining on my computer my hash rate is constantly jumping up and down. It will say 380 mhash/s then 40 mhash/s then jump back up to 250 mhash/s. I'm using -v -w128 -f 1 on my 5870. Is there anything I can do to help keep it steady?

-v kills hash speeds on my 9600gt too. are there any nvidia cards that work with -v on?

I think as long as it is relatively easy to convert from one currency to another they won't really care unless the world totally collapsed but that is unlikely.

Sorry I was using nTune and it doesn't say Shader Clock in there. I have it overclocked now. Riva Tuner says this:
G94 chip 799 Core 1981 Memory 651
GuiMiner says I'm getting around 18.8 Mhash/s now with -w128 -f 10 so I can use my computer. I tried different values for -w but 128 seems to be the best.

I'm using poclbm_gui with -w128 -f 1 flags and stock settings of 675/900. I set my card to 800/650 and I see 20.1 Mhash/s but it still bounces around so it is hard to get an exact reading.

My computer jumps between 18.7 and 16.8Mhash/s on my 9600gt

Is it possible to add magnet link support similar to those used by bittorrent sites to the Bitcoin program so you could make a magnet link of your Wallet address? That way people with Bitcoin installed could just click a link and have an easy way to donate or pay for stuff.
