Good post on reddit attempting to guestimate where the rotting longs on bitfinex will see a margin call.

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMarkets/comments/2dag4l/bfx_margin_call_watchand_calculations/
interesting post, i'm hoping we test 540 to see if these figures are accurate.

Can someone explain this sentence to the non-finance literate?

"Conclusion if we break below $550 I expect the market to get VERY fast with cascading margin calls on bfx. Admittedly we might need some FUD to get there but those price levels are at least in sight "

If the price falls below $540, those that borrowed at $650 do not have enough collateral to sustain their positions.  Bitfinex will force them to sell.

As for $550 that's a technical point in the charts that we've bounced off a few times.  To break that support means longs are throwing in the towel.

Too bad most of the longs were opened well under 650. Just check bfxdata.

Also, BFX supposedly put in measures to prevent the cascading effect on margin calls. So if some silly bear tries it, he will end up on his ass.

Don't go bringing Jimmy Buffet quotes in here. He said himself to stay away from commodities.

Yes, that gentleman is a billionaire investor and he specifically said in an interview earlier this year to stay away from bitcoin.  Grin

That would be Warren?  Grin  what is it with you and names? first "sagon" and now "jimmy" where do you get this from ?  Grin

Also that ol dude is as slippery as an eel - talkin' his book

Kireinaha is a teenage troll. I mean come on, its obvious.

Everyone please stop feeding the teenage troll.

Why do these sellers want my overinflated fiat so bad?
564  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 12, 2014, 03:11:03 AM
It is quite easy to be a bitcoin bear in 2014, none of you can deny that. We're almost finished with this year and it has been nothing but down, sideways, down, sideways, down, sideways, up (slightly), sideways, down, sideways, down...

What did Carl Sagon say about insanity? "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

If you're not a bear right now, then I'm sorry, but you're just insane.

No, you are just weak.

Why do people continue to quote the trolls?
569  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 10, 2014, 05:41:57 PM
Must suck to be that fool that buys at 690+ every time.

It's so odd. At 688 they don't buy but when someone starts pumping those same people panic buy at 695 only to see the price drop back to 688 after that. And then they panic sell of course.
It's always the same. Why do people still fall for it?

It's just one guy taking advantage of the bear dumper. He will buy 1k, fill in the bids behind him, and wait for the idiot to dump into his bids and bring the price back down. He does this over and over again, essentially getting 10s of thousands of coins without moving the price.

Is it based on activity or posts (count). Because if its post count, I think hes good enough

It's based on 14 points per every 2 week period in which a post has been made.

Spamming the board with many posts does nothing.

480=hero

This.

So in 2-4 weeks it will be a hero.

Sound familiar?

It seems as though our manipulator at bitstamp is being drained of coins faster than usual, let's see how deep his BTC wallets go mwahahaha!

Will he run out?
Will he give up?
Will he start selling from his paper wallets and be left with nothing?

This is the perfect opportunity for someone to pick up a good amount of coins without much slippage!

Huobi goin hard. $598 and pushing
Woohoo, look at them go.

Is there something that happened in China we should know about?  Or are they just tired of waiting for a rally like the rest of us?  Wink

That and they don't have to deal with the bear on bitstamp. If the fiat from China was on bitstamp this bear would have been wiped out already.

This is so predictable.

I sure hope this entity trying to keep the price in the 580s is making profit somehow, because someone is slowly bleeding the coins out of him.
576  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: August 07, 2014, 08:45:53 PM
Bitstamp aka bearstamp aka manipulation central seems to be the only exchange without huge bid walls.

Go figure.

In all seriousness, Tradingview is 99% bearish, and those guys are now falling over themselves talking about flash crashes to $50.... and to $2.

These guys are gonna get squeezed hard (and then tell everyone they saw the rally coming). My two cents. Cheesy

I haven't noticed one good trader on tradingview, in fact I haven't seen one good trader anywhere. But those guys on Tradingview are just silly with their predictions.
