Is the current chat based on a direct (encrypted) channel between both parties or are the messages relayed by other nodes?

eg: Will my real ip be revealed if i chat with someone?

Yes with the test release your IP is not concealed
563  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 31, 2014, 09:46:10 PM

bbr, did you enter your password to unlock for staking?

I have done that and it works that way but I thought atcsecure stated that it did not need to be unlocked?

It will still need to be unlocked to stake.  The bug was that when you entered your passphrase before the fix, it would say it was unlocked for staking only, but you could still send coins.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=630547.msg8125295#msg8125295

 Huh

So yes, you just need to hit unlock and make sure "for staking only" is checked... now your minting with a locked wallet

564  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 31, 2014, 09:44:31 PM

Mine still says it's not minting as the wallet is locked:

Did you click the unlock button? the "for staking only" should be checked

put in your password and hit okay

the wallet is unlocked for staking only, if you attempted to send coins it asks for password

565  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 31, 2014, 09:20:30 PM
Can someone list some nodes please.

east01.xcnode.xc-official.com
west01.xcnode.xc-official.com
west02.xcnode.xc-official.com

those should get you started

566  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 31, 2014, 09:19:48 PM
If Dan is really serious about chat and voice (video does not matter a lot currently) over the XC protocol, what can I say, this is a totally new, grandiose, multibillion market. And most importantly it means freedom of communications - the missing link in the IT sector (for now). Anyone selling below 0.25 BTC makes a big financial mistake, remember this statement till Christmas.

Yes I am very serious about this.  The current XChat test release is 100% secure in its communication channel[message layer] and combined with a new initiative that has already started [details next week], I expect the XC community will be very excited with whats coming.

Dan, consider, from a business perspective, if these calls and video calls do take bandwith on the networks, perhaps consider a charge fee for their usage?  XC used as tokens within the app and rewarded to the relaying nodes.   Drive up demand for XC.

Yes this is being considered.

Roger that.  Putting on spacesuit.

I should be more clear, as considered doesn't really imply that it is a key part of the vision, which it is.  This is what XNode is all about

pushing VoIP over multi-path wireless is very similar [in some ways] as RF conditions on a moving vessel change constantly, thus that "path" could go from steady to unsteady in milliseconds.

There are numerous variables at play and a "dial up" user isn't going to be able to do video with XChat as there will be certain bandwidth requirements.

I do have extensive experience with voice/video over a wide-range of network topologies [wired, wireless and satellite] and appreciate the challenges this task will face.  Part of it comes down the codec's used as well.

Dan

So you're saying this should be fun for you  Wink

Yes - I always love a challenge.. although sleep is good too :-)
573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XCurrency] Decentralised Trustless Privacy / Encrypted XChat / Privacy Platform on: July 31, 2014, 07:02:24 PM
Is it going to be based on XMPP or custom protocols?
What about delays and jitter which would be enormous in multihop P2P and likely leading to unsatisfactory call quality?

I think he knows what he's doing.   Grin

Yep, but that's slightly different thing. Large scale wireless without packet loss is great, but P2P for voice is pretty much different as you deal with peers who could have bad Internet connections, introducing high delays and jitter. It is likely that voice call would be routed via multiple peers for increased security causing delays and jitter multiplication which is killing for real-time apps like voice/video calls.

Hoertest, generosity is a virtue, and virtues have long-term and short-term benefits. There's absolutely no need to be less than virtuous, ever.

There is little doubt in my mind that Dan's review will be beneficial to all parties, and mostly to XC.

You showed public interest in cloak some days ago. look where cloak is now and how beneficial it was to us. ....

Where is cloak now? It has nothing special really, just a pump and dump related to the hype taking place into the trade...
There is too much centralization there...and cheap fancy developments...

cloaksend? a mere 3-4 hours php script

http://www.cloaksend.com/api/cloaks/CBnkPKapz8U2FKc7EQSeCcSZ3qPD82XpGp/C5qKmSjW1K1CiADtnMHMPBjQWybHQ9S8ce/50.0

onemarket? another centralized king-of-website, integrated into the WALLET...

Anyway, I'm happy for a thing related to cloak right now, which is seeing that mintpal has not lost the trust yet, and there is still volume on the exchange...

are you saying cloaksend is an API?

This isn't the place for that discussion

You showed public interest in cloak some days ago. look where cloak is now and how beneficial it was to us. i don't want to bash other coins. but helping out left and right while the own project is not yet in the possition to do such things is a mistake too.
If the REV3 campaign would be already on the road and Dan would have some sparetime I would be fine with such reviews . but now?
Only one liners and short updates from him for weeks in here and then he has the time for that write up and checking the code. This was a ego thing, you can tell me what you want about the philanthropic intentions.

Think what you will.. but don't think that I'm not spending 8+ hours per day working on XCurrency, We are currently on RC4 EM testing, just finished a new build a few minutes ago, not to mention the other development activities happening and getting prepared for the xc-tor-stick release
