Wow, can't remember a graded one for auction the last few years. Not familiar with magazine grading? It's just a 1 - 10 scale?

Probably out of my budget range soon, but can't hold back for now:

I have created time locks for myself - really from one of my addresses to another of my addresses but i then deleted the keys to the first address so I could never spend the funds - only broadcast the txn in the future.

the first address is the cards address so shows no txns

the second address shows the funding address - which on 4/25/2023 he emptied my funds (along with 12 other cards) and sent to this address:

which promptly sent to this address:

which is where the funds are sitting now.

this is for the 2025 card - the 2023 one is still funded but he can take that at any time.

NOTE: THE 2023 CARDS COME ACTIVE IN 826 BLOCKS - IF ASSUMING 10 MINS PER BLOCK THAT IS 5.73 DAYS - PEEL YOUR 2023 CARDS NOW, IMPORT THE KEYS - BROADCAST TXN AS SOON AS YOU CAN AND SWEEP THE FUNDS ASAP

Perfect timing for me (to hopefully access the cards in time), thanks for this important reminder. Let's hope he doesn't have/ will use the keys until then.

Did you write that script @krogothmanhattan ? Would love a version with comments to explain every line.

It's a shame, love the timelock concept. Squirrelbits has at least one coin making use of it - hope to see more in the future. But yeah, it's a massive trust issue for sure in general.
564  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Unstoppable wallet {User experiences} on: May 13, 2023, 10:22:42 AM
This sounds intriguing - will check it out.

Any more user experience reports since last post from January?

I tried to find a list of supported shit-coins and tokens, but their website doesn't seem to give away much.
Their FAQ seems to only talk about Bitcoin, Ethereum and Binance-Chain. In the video I also see Solana, Polygon Dash and a few more, though.
565  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 13, 2023, 07:51:21 AM
Just one question, maybe I missed something, but what if people not from Bitcointalk will start to use TalkImg? From what I understood from FAQ post, image simply won't be displayed if I will try to post it on Bitcoin.com forum for example?

I configured the server so that images can only be used on the Bitcointalk forum. But Hotlink protection is never 100% guaranteed, and eventually in some cases it may be possible to post elsewhere.

Now, the disclaimer is clear: it's only meant to work on Bitcointalk. I am not responsible if they use the images on other sites, and from one moment to the next they stop working. I'm constantly making adjustments to the server, and this can lead to some parameters changing and something that previously worked outside of this forum, no longer works.

That's why I say: this service is only to be used on the BitcoinTalk forum. Avoid using it in other places, there is a risk that it will not work or stop working in those places in the future.

EDIT: I am not saying that this rule cannot change in the future, but for now this is the objective of the service. I prefer to keep this objective, because that way I know I can guarantee the best possible service. But in the future it might change.

Pretty amazing that this is possible.

Big shout-out from my side for this super cool and needed project. Just the right time when imgur seems to have gone down completely.
Sent you a quick pm to maybe help out a little with translation.

Pure curiosity: Do you have any data on how many image uploads and how much data is used already? How many uploads per day on average?
566  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners Should Consider the Lower Transaction Fees on: May 13, 2023, 07:36:36 AM
I do wonder though, do we need more scaling discussions again soon? LN in its current state is not helping as intended - and larger money sum transactions will continue to be only available on-chain. I feel there are some similarities with the 2017 situation.
I get a feeling that if centralized services like exchanges allow LN deposits or withdrawals we'll see more people use that. I believe the average joe doesn't have enough incentive to use LN as of now since they rely on centralized services most of the time. I pay for some services with BTC (like VPN for example) monthly and most of them also don't use LN to accept payments, so that's that. Maybe I can try to look for one but there will be other issues like trust, unreliable downtime, etc. CMIIW.
You are making a good point here. Regular CEX are probably still by far the largest interface to most people holding crypto - if they are getting used to Lightning that way it could indeed lead to a much higher adoption.

[...]
Here you can find list of services that support LN : https://lightningnetworkstores.com/

Credits @LoyceV

[...]
Thanks for the link - does it scrape the LN network by itself or how are the services reported to the website?

On a sidenote I was recently wondering if miners do have an incentive to slow down LN adoption / to lobby against it because it will ultimately mean a reduction in on-chain fees for them?
567  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance is withdraws from Canada on: May 13, 2023, 07:28:01 AM
It was OKX before, now Binance will stop providing exchange services to Canadians. It is because Binance is not able to meet the new regulatory policy concerning stable coins.

https://twitter.com/binance/status/1657099651210969088?t=iyxq7EHvzHsRxxZKgjlpRA&s=19

If you are from Canada, it is better for you to move you coins out of Binance.

The same reason OKX withdrew from Canada: To OKX Canadian users

The new commitments we are now requesting from unregistered CTPs relate to the following areas:

•enhanced commitments in relation tothe custody and segregation of crypto assets held on behalf of Canadian clients;
•enhanced commitmentsto precludethe unregistered CTP frompledging, re-hypothecatingor otherwise usingcrypto assets held on behalf of Canadian clients;
•a prohibition on the part of the CTP offering margin, credit or other forms of leverage to any type of client in connection withthetrading of crypto contracts or crypto assets on the CTP’s platform;
•new commitments from controlling mind(s) and global affiliates that affect the CTPentity seeking registration and relief;
•restrictions on the part of the CTP relying on crypto assets, including proprietary tokens issued by the CTP or an affiliate of the CTP,in determining the capital of the CTP for excess working capitalpurposesand in determining the capital base of the CTP;
•enhanced commitments in relation to the filing bytheCTP of financial information with  the CSA on a regular basis;
•enhanced commitments in relation to the retention of a qualified Chief ComplianceOfficer (CCO)during the pre-registration process;
•a prohibition on the part of the CTP in respect of clients buying or depositing Value Referenced Crypto Assets (commonly referred to as stablecoins)through crypto contracts without the prior written consent of the CSA; and
•a prohibition on the part of the CTP in respect oftrades in crypto contractsbased on  proprietary tokens, except with the prior written consent of the CSA.

What a hardcore way to handle stablecoins - it's practically a ban. I wonder where this stems from exactly:
- The need to protect against anything that could threaten a government-based stable-coin or
- Protection for stable-coin users because of the fear that they may be innsuficiently backed which could result in massive losses when the card-house collapses

In any case, I wonder why Binance doesn't just shut-out any stablecoin based trading on their platform instead of a complete withdrawal from Canada.

Was watching from the rail with awe. Seems the longer I wait the more unlikely it will be to get a Casascius (incl holo) for an affordable price.

BTC0.1802 for the "Ugliest physical coin" is a new ATH, no? Might part with mine, if thats where we are.
Probably looks better in real, it's massive and shiny after all. Does have an ugly vibe to it, though, lol. Still a crazy piece of [Bitcoin] history.
569  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Stack's Bowers June 14 Auction on: May 13, 2023, 07:11:26 AM
Some rarities have come out of hiding for this one!  Grin
Note there are five pages of items, you can select pages at the top of the screen.

https://auctions.stacksbowers.com/auctions/3-134QG6/june-2023-auction-session-4-physical-cryptocurrency-lots-4001-4168

Omg, there are a ton of amazing and never seen before coins (at stack's bowers) up for auction. My personal favourite, the CI Sailing the Seas (yarr) is also there - excited to see for how much these will go for.
Thanks for sharing!

I assume whoever puts their stuff up for auction wants to stay anonymous? If not, would love to hear how getting your item(s) listed with them worked for you.

I sold a lot in the last auction. I think there has been some mixed feelings over the Stack's auctions here in the forum. On one hand I think everyone wants a general amount of growth in sales to the larger public. On the other hand, there seems to be some sentiment that the sales on Stack's are often ridiculous prices by rich dudes buying anything without intelligence of the market. Maybe the latter observation is incorrect on my part, but I think I recall a member or two saying they would never do something like sell out by selling on Stacks. I'll share a couple of comments on this latter point. I don't think this is actually true. If you put item into Stack's I think you should be hoping to come out with a conservative amount of what you would expect to get on the forum. Stack's is probably just a decent place to move valuables versus a windfall. I do think the initial introduction of new coins gets ridiculous attention and there is an obvious over paying for them. A Satori selling for $2000 is an example, but, the prices level out quickly in subsequent auctions as people get more exposure. In the last Stacks auction Satoris sold close to the amount that you might expect here on the forum in the last auction. My personal experience was doing a little better than breaking even with cons I sold. I bought a lot when BTC was much higher and I wanted to pair down a good portion of my collection and I also want public auction to sell these successfully to push the exposure.

The process working with Stack's is pretty easy and they handle getting anything graded with PCGS. The hammer price is what the owner receives and the buyer pays all the fees to Stack's above the hammer price. James at Stacks is great and getting pretty knowledgeable.

My advice right now is that loaded stuff will sell well. Stack's is probably the best way to sell high funded items right now. You give a loaded Cas to them and they handle all the tricky conveyance of delivering the item and these are selling at prices we all would accept. This beats flying somewhere and meeting a guy in police office, etc. Be careful with buyer funded or redeemed. I don't think the public has the insight yet of the scarcity value on items that are unfunded.

Another note. If you want some cool coins, I would encourage people to watch the later rounds of the auction. They pack all the redeemed and unfunded and lesser loaded stuff at the end and they fly through the coins. There are some good deals. Buying is easy.

Thanks for your insights, Steeley. I don't see it as a sin to sell collectibles outside the forum. Personally I avoid ebay like the plague and only do p2p or forum sales so far, but it's a free market and everone can do with their coins how they see fit.
Always happy to see collectibles appreciated by a wider audience - doesn't matter if it's some spoiled rich-kids that buy randomly from a Stack's an Bowers auction or an old goldbug at a local coin store. Just my 2 sats.

Ofc most interesting would be to see how these coins perform in the long run on stack's bowers and not only as "novelties".

FYI - that cocksucker just stole the Diwali .001 as well - what a fucking loser

WARNING
TIMELOCK (aka Cryptobond) coldkey swiped as of April 25th 2023: https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/bc1qc5gytjj8vssp8qxckk7ljv58mq8te8hez6pfae
This one would have been made accessible in 2025 - so no chance to get the funds to safety yet.

I am also tracking one other timelock card - not swiped (yet!). Get your funds while you still can ASAP!
Anyone else affected by a recent sweep? Please report here.

On a sad sidenote, same date one of the history coldkeys with my design also got swept. (I kept it as I wanted to have an untouched set of the design I created, well knowing I am risking my funds here, so my bad for the most part).
571  Economy / Collectibles / Re: What should I ask Chat GPT about Crypto Collectibles? on: May 12, 2023, 09:16:45 AM
Not supporting images is the only limitation of ChatGPT which might be the reason BTC forum users don't take advantage of this Ai. Specifically asking about the originality of physical goods (although Ai itself doesn't vouch for it's opinion), presenting with pictures will explain better than long text.
There are already solutions that also include images support (and a ton of other features such as programming-code, text-to-voice / vis-versa etcetc). I am quite sure lots of bitcointalk forum users are (mis-)using it already, some to spam, some to research, some just for fun.
Luckily enough spam is still clearly spam most of the time, doesn't matter if its phrased with fancy words and whatnot created by AI or not.

@OgNasty: The super-heros are cool, the rest seems very generic but still shows it has become more accurate in its output. I created a few fun abstract Bitcoin themed images last year. Cannot access the album on imgur right now (why? I thought only posts from unregistered accounts were affected) but will link to it when/if it's back up online.
572  Economy / Collectibles / Re: please use TalkImg - imgur deletes all images on: May 12, 2023, 09:07:08 AM
since tonight all images uploaded on imgur (which are uploaded via an unregistered account) have been deleted. so we don't get various images displayed here on bitcointalk, which could then also affect the auctions or various offers of our collectors.
to solve this problem quickly, since the end of april there is a new service from the user joker_josue who has created a very useful tool/website especially for our forum, where you can upload your pictures/images.

more info can be found in the original thread: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk

i've been using the website for my images for a few weeks now and i'm very happy with it. loading images in the forum has also become faster. Smiley
Now that's some annoying news. Will check out the suggested alternative, thanks cygan. If loading is indeed faster maybe something good has already come from imgurs change of policy.

@Satslife Would be great to include TalkImg in your How to buy/sell post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277761.0
573  Other / Archival / Re: WasabiWallet.io | Open-source, non-custodial Bitcoin Wallet for desktop on: May 12, 2023, 09:02:10 AM
It looks like they are using Coinfirm API to get information about a particular Bitcoin address.
Absolutely. And nice for the CEO to spell out in the thread I linked above just exactly what Coinfirm are doing to your UTXOs you try to mix with Wasabi. Firstly they link your UTXOs with off-chain information, entities, identities, etc. Then they cluster your UTXO with others belonging to you, examine your transactions in order to identify patterns which can be used to link to your other transactions, look for anomalies, graph analysis, throw in some machine learning and AI as well. That's exactly what I want to happen every time I try to coinjoin! Roll Eyes

But of course, the specifics of their techniques remain completely secret and they can refuse your coins for any reason and not tell you why. Super transparent! Roll Eyes

This is truely yucky. Thanks for pointing out these deceptive practices, it's so sneaky to put it into a wallet officially centered around privacy.
Goes to show again, closed source and free, decentralized crypto does not go well together at all.

What's your current suggestion for a transparent mixer-based wallet? Is there anything new besides Samurai?

574  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance announced LN integration on: May 12, 2023, 08:54:44 AM
After halting bitcoin withdrawals due "network congestion" (they are enabled again btw) and adjusting withdrawal fees, to combat that Binance finally announced that they are working on Lightning Netwok implementation for withdrawals  so at least something good came out from this mess.

https://twitter.com/binance/status/1655419624962527233
Of course, it could not have been otherwise. As I said earlier, any problem pushes to look for solutions. Binance demonstrated this. Even though the problem of high transactions didn't arise not because of them, but it still cast some shadow on their reputation, even with temporary suspensions on bitcoin withdrawal from the exchanger. The user is not interested in the sources of the problem. The user wants good service, but if bitcoin withdrawl is delayed or suspended, then the user is left unhappy. To prevent this, Binance started working on the introduction of Lightning Netwok.

Bitcoin withdrawal from Binance required a rather high commission even in calm times. With the introduction of Lightning Netwok, the commission will have to be very small amounts. This will benefit the users. Let's see what the result will be.

It will be good if other companies also begin to develop towards the introduction of Lightning Netwok. No one wants to lose their customers and most likely will.

Yes, it's a general rule of thumb: As soon as bigger business interests are involved you will hardly see any scaling attempts way BEFORE they actually are necessary. One could argue Binance reacted too late (I would agree), too many customers are already massively affected. But that's the typical way of a huge corp with its main focus on profit maximization. You'd rarely see any amazing preventitive measures just in case they would at some point in the future benefit some users. It's just not the most profitible way (most of the time).

Anyway, it's about time to see more LN support, and I really hope it's something we see more coming for a huge variety of service providers.
You still need to open / enter the payment channel with an on-chain transaction, so it's only something that will show its positive effect after more than 1 successful transaction anyway.
575  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners Should Consider the Lower Transaction Fees on: May 12, 2023, 03:36:22 AM
I tried making a transaction yesterday and I was asked 25$ and today it's 15$, maybe it will go lower in coming days or weeks so let's be calm for now, don't make any transaction unless it's very important.

Don't make transaction on a "Money" system?  hold on has everyone gone thru some kind of time warp here and forgotten what Bitcoin is?

If people lose faith that they can't send there money WHEN they need to but need to "wait" because of what is just spam all be it paid for spam on the network?

What if someone needed to make that urgent transaction for medical care but was priced out because of what has been added?

We have lost a use case that was our primary from day one. Money.

Money don't wait for JPEGS and Shit tokens.
Actually I am suprised we haven't seen more Bitcoin-Cash-gurus or other shitconers coming out of their holes and problaiming they have the ultimate solution yet.

I do wonder though, do we need more scaling discussions again soon? LN in its current state is not helping as intended - and larger money sum transactions will continue to be only available on-chain. I feel there are some similarities with the 2017 situation.
576  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Miners Should Consider the Lower Transaction Fees on: May 11, 2023, 12:41:21 PM
So miners had 10 good days of fees which is now dropping.

Last few blocks fees are much lower

1.36
0.45
0.66
1.05
1.49
1.92
0.73
1.60
1.67
1.67

and viabtc dropped from 160% of a block to  130%

Glad to hear it.
It's a sign the BRC-20 spamming is already slowing down. The shit-token-boys must be slowly running out of sats, oh my. Cheesy
Must be fun times as a miner when you suddenly get an almost 2x on your usual income.

Let's see how the next few days perform. My guess is: Slowly continuing to decrease to pre-BRC-20 levels with a few random spam-bumps in-between.

I peeled my Titan this week. I will go grab some pics and see if I can post them.
What happened to your Titan?

On another note, any chance you would add some Moonbits to your list @teeGUMES ?

Love this thread, amazing effort. If you want I can peel one and send some high quality pics. Or just send you the sweeped chip.
If you prefer to peel your self, can also send you a chip for just the funding + shipping price, let me know. Smiley
578  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BRC-20 needs to be removed on: May 11, 2023, 12:18:35 PM
What uprises me about this mess is the quetion, how long can it be "profitable" / sustainable to send bloated data-transactions to the bitcoin network?
I doubt there are actually too many players involved in creating these. When the hype (if there ever was much of one) is over and everyone sits on their BRC-20 shit-token-pseudo-art, there will not be much incentives left to create these bloating transactions. Slowly but surely I wold expect to see less transaction stuck in mempool over the next few weeks until fees and blocks are at a normal level again.
579  Economy / Economics / Re: Success is fundamentally determined by luck, not effort. on: May 11, 2023, 09:56:20 AM

Recently I have had numerous reunions with Uncles from my extended family. Some of them are successful businessmen for decades. They built their business from nothing and are living quite a comfortable life now. We had long conversations about life in general, including their key to success. I knew very well that they have been hard workers ever since I had a memory so I would contribute their success to endless efforts. However, one thing they had mentioned in common was luck. They believe pure luck made them meet and grasp those opportunities and become successful rather than their smartness and efforts. I've thought about this before and couldn't agree with this more. They've set very good examples to me, including my father, and now I tend to focus more on work itself consistently and let luck or fate takes the rest.

Pinpointing success to luck is an easy out - if you prefer to not take responsibility.
What can be considered luck in one instance, meeting the right person to work with, finding the right business niche at the right time, having the right skill for the job at the right time etc, cannot be attributed to luck if it keeps reoccuring.
If you put yourself in a position to connect to many people in a similar group of interest, if you stay focused on what you want to achive and keep looking out for the right opportunities and at the same time educate yourself about the relevant topics you will "attract luck" -> you kind of create a high probability chance to experience the right situations and connect with the right people and opportunities.
If you just lay back and spend your time with other things than those relevant to what you seek to achive, "business-success-luck" will probably not be part of your usual experience.
