The NXT forging algorithm is a complete fraud.

Hello, scammer.

Will you return one million NXTs you scammed from NXT community?

Just a million?  Drop in the bucket.

you can pay for him then?

2 questions.

1.  Why in the world would I ever pay for some con artists scam when I have no relationship to either him or those ripped off?
2. Why the hell are NXT users spamming this thread?  Begone please.

They are not only interested in the "Monroe currency". Smiley

Grin We will be listed at MP next Mondat Cheesy

Is this confirmed?
Mintpal chooses most voted every monday, so it happens if XMR keeps its #1 spot in the list.

Yeah but considering the extra coding that would go into adding a CN coin...?

This is a bit of an UGH factor for seeing it added to exchanges.  However it has been rightly speculated that:

1.  Mintpal wouldn't put it up were it not (getting) ready to add it.
2.  The money votes could hire a pretty good freelancer to do the work if they don't have time themselves.

I am not personally too concerned with Mintpal one way or the other.  I do want to see more market liquidity eventually.
5605  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 19, 2014, 05:16:24 PM

Almost none of the failure modes of bitcoin apply to monero because the code base and algorithms and development teams are about as close to non-overlapping as you can get.
Also, they are best suited to distinct markets, bitcoin to the transparent instant global liquidity market, and monero to the dark instant global liquidity market.
Monero is capable of fulfilling almost all use-cases for bitcoin qua currency.  If bitcoin fails, I imagine most of that usage would move to monero, if monero were the clear runner-up at that time.

I don't see it as a very efficient hedge right now, because speculative activity will correlate highly, but it is definitely a diversification in the portfolio-effect sense, and in some scenarios it could become a nearly perfect hedge.

Thanks.  I see monero the same way, and further it looks to me to be a front runner for several reasons in the space it is competing to inhabit.  And the space is inevitably going to be filled. That pandora's box of dark money was knocked on by bitcoin and something will force it all the way open, and fairly soon.

It's kind of fun to see what the current frontrunners in market cap or hype have in common.  GUIs for one.  More flash and buzz.  All while monero hides in the shadows saying "move along...  nothing to see here...".  It is poetic IMHO. Smiley

How different is monero to cloak other than cloak having a GUI ?
Cloak uses centralized mixing to achieve nothing, whereas XMR uses trustless ring signatures to achieve anonymity.

This is so notable, and yet lost on so many at the moment.
5607  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - Secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 19, 2014, 03:38:37 PM
Long term Monero price can be 200$ ore even more if Bitcoin keep rising.

If Bitcoin keeps rising the sky's the limit!

And if bitcoin falls, prepare for interstellar space.

Does this imply you think XMR to be the most likely used hedge against a falling BTC or are you just noodling around?

Looking forward to the MRO pump on MintPal

Are we sure we haven't seen it already?

Monero isn't even on Mintpal yet, idiot. It's #1 on voting list, #1's get added every Monday, today is Wednesday. That means Monero is going to get added Next Monday, idiot.
I'm pretty sure he is trying to say that since the market expect XMR to be added to mintpal the market will already have priced this in, thus there won't be further spike than we have seen, in fact the price may decline since the expected pump fails to emerge.

I personally think we'll see a spike higher than we have seen last few days since adding it to mintpal will expose more people to monero.

Not exactly what I was saying.

The relevant question is how much HAS been priced in.  I agree with you that there is more coming most likely.

Markets tend to anticipate new value in advance of news.  I can see you are new to them.

What about WKeccak vs Cryptonote gpu "friendliness"? Which pow is expected to perform better on GPU once the optimized gpu code is released?

Current thought is it can be 2-7 times more efficient but not quite that cost efficient.  The idea is as the coin matures the scratchpad size will increase.  Currently the scratchpad can be creatively divided among texture memory on GFX cards.  But in time that will no longer be easy to do.  Rumors of a hard fork to cure this seem to be dying down because of this.

Currently the developer of the Wild Keccak GPU miner is keeping it to himself.  Looks like it will only really benefit him.

Oh jeez isnt it interesting that MoneroPool.org is shutting down after I uncovered a keylogger malware attached to their software. I see they are blaming it on "DDOS attacks" I warned everyone how many listened? How many peoples bitcoins, litecoins, other coins will be stolen as a result of this?

Shame on members here for attempting to cover this up shame on you

Makes me wonder if this guy is behind the DDOS attacks.  He's been sleazing up the boards for days now.

In my opinion being such a simple minded douchbag is about the clearest evidence that he wouldn't know how to run a DDOS if his life depended on it.

He is the most transparent troll I've seen in a long time.

On the other hand he might just be a really paranoid (stoner?) type guy who is too stupid to know that he got a keylogger from downloading crap off bittorrent etc...

I switched over to mro.extremehash.com:7777 until main pool is fixed. Hopefully by tomorrow.

Why not just stay there?  Loyalty to "the main pool" is not good for monero.

http://moneropool.org is up again.  Roll Eyes

Our fee has been lowered to 0% for now.

Glad to see this.

is the GUI released yet?

The GUI is not important enough for us to be worried about yet.

I'd say we want to get the software as bulletproof as possible now, first.

Worry about a gui later.  If not having a gui means less attention it is better for now.  We want to make sure when the attention comes we are ready.
5616  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MRO]MANDATORY UPGRADE!Monero - Anonymous Currency Based on Ring Signatures on: June 15, 2014, 06:25:01 PM
I donated a shitload of hashing there and saw zero payments.  They are probably running outdated software.

To be honest they may even be a scam.

Stay away from this pool.

They ripped me off.
I received 5.5 MRO from them, but it was when they had a much bigger hashrate. So I won't call them scammers, it is just than with low hashrate, it takes longer.

The hashrate was multiples (10x-20x) of what it is now when I was hashing...

Screw them.

In irc there is a guy named "monerofarm" says he has nothing to do with the pool.

Wow.  Such fishy.  Much lost hash.

I just recently launched a new mining pool at http://monero.farm/

Here are some of our features:
  • High end pool server hardware (quad core, 15GB ram)
  • Great uptime and stability
  • 0% fees!
  • 10% of fees is donated to Monero development
  • Fighting against moneropool.com's >51%
  • Located in the US

Hopefully moneropool.com will stop having >50%.
The pool didn't find any block for 6 days, even though it had a very good hashrate at some point. Something wrong?

OMG, people, how can you be so blind and waste your computing/hashing power on monero mining. Nothing, but speculation about it.
Please, read this post 1 year later with a bunch of useless xmr in your wallet.

Yet you love Duckcoin?
Don't fuel this FUD guys Smiley

Love any coin where 80% of hashrate is NOT done by botnets and trojans. Moneros trojans is the reason of high hashrate. (you can search and see the correlation between appearance of bitmonero trojans on security forums and growth of hashrate).  Moneros GPU mining before GPU miner announce is the second reason, but causes less hashrate growth.

The same people who launched trojans likely owners of main XMR and pumpers of exchange rate.

Good luck all of fair miners with that trojans/botnet army, you are fighting windmills.

Rat Race.

Wow.  Actual FUD.  Ignored.

I don't like the name of this coin. Can we maybe rename it to 'Darkcoin Lite' or something?

QUICK buy the domain from me before it's worth billions!

In my opinion, we need only one crypto-currency.

If that is true then bitcoin is doomed, and very soon, because of its extreme tracability.  I do not think it is true.

I would agree with you heartily.  In fact I think there are strong arguments for advantages in both sorts of transactions.  I think there is a need for both an open public ledger, and a inscrutable one.
