5601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Year 2020 expectations on: November 22, 2019, 06:57:27 PM
The most recent crash was totally unexpected. No one actually expected BTC to go back to the 7K levels. And analysts are predicting that it may go up to $6,000 per coin. But even with this price movement, I am expecting a considerable upswing before the next block reward halving for Bitcoin. And a spike for altcoins will occur within a few months after that event.

The ICC wants cricket boards to be independent and autonomous. Too much political interference can result in the suspension of cricket boards, similar to what happened with Zimbabwe and Nepal. But that said, even now there is a lot of political control in the BCCI and most of the office-bearers are associated to various political parties.
If you look at how the BCCI controls everything in cricket and ICC usually gives a blind eye majority of the times you will have an idea that money controls everything in the market, there is too much political influence in cricket in India as they are not allowing to play against Pakistan in cricket and this is only because of political intervention and i have not seen anything notification from the ICC regarding that.

A few years back, when the political interference crossed all the limits, the honorable Supreme Court of India stepped in. The board members were fired and the court appointed a group of ex-cricketers to run the BCCI. They made a lot of progressive moves, but their term came to an end a few months back. Now once again, the BCCI is under the control of the politicians.
5603  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 22, 2019, 06:39:07 PM
What is left to predict in this match? Two very one sided matches going on right now. India cruising towards an innings win in two days against Bangladesh, and at the same time Australia looks all set to defeat Pakistan by an innings at the Gabba. The only match that is worth watching right now is the England vs New Zealand test which is ongoing at Mount Maunganui.
It is true that only one match is interesting to watch as New Zealand does have the opportunity to level the scores against England but the rest of the matches are one sided, but despite that i was thrilled to watch Indian pace bowlers tearing away oppositions in India and i have not seen a performance like this from the pace bowlers where the spinners does not even have a role in which they decimated Bangladesh.

Things would have been much different if Shakib al Hassan and Tamim Iqbal were included in the Bangladeshi squad. I am very sure that there is a lot of anger against the BCB management right now in Bangladesh. I was also excited with the performance by the Indian pacers (especially Ishant), but I want them to perform with such consistence against the stronger teams as well.
5604  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee Believes Dogecoin “Will Go To The Moon” on: November 22, 2019, 05:49:26 PM
Dogecoin is a pure manipulative coin, it has no real value at all, no technology or real assets or something. But some whales use it to move the market, DOGE is being pumped periodically.

The DOGE community is very large, loyal and powerful. Obviously there are whales who do manipulation with DOGE, as it is a currency which is relatively easier to manipulate. But it is different from the other shitcoins, due to the sizable user-base. It is a coin that is loved by a lot of people (for various reasons), and hated by even more.
5605  Economy / Economics / Re: Fiat Money is a Bubble on: November 22, 2019, 05:43:00 PM
Absolutely, we are running after money yet it does not contain any value. It makes me think that being rich is just an illusion. Money is an illusion. Isn't it the reason why we have crypto?

The same can be said about any asset, including gold. What if I say that gold is just like any other metal and it is not worth anything? The value of a particular asset arises from its scarcity. The fiat currency is also scarce, when we take in to account the number of people using them. It may be an illusion, but the central banks are very good in maintaining that illusion.
5606  Economy / Economics / Re: Would you use FB's Libra? on: November 22, 2019, 05:35:13 PM
Libra is most likely to be postponed, if not cancelled altogether. On top of the concerns raised by the American senators, now the market sentiment is also looking very negative, with Bitcoin losing close to 20% of its value during the last 3-4 days. For now it looks like the bulls are in full retreat and it won't be an intelligent move from the Libra promoters to list their coins anytime soon.
5607  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019 on: November 22, 2019, 05:29:13 PM
^^^ They have an eliminator/qualifier system for the playoffs and that means that the bottom ranked teams such as the Delhi Bulls and the Karnataka Tuskers are out of the tournament. Tomorrow the Maratha Arabians will take on the Qalandars for the first qualifier and Bangla Tigers will be playing against Deccan Gladiators in the first eliminator.
5608  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: November 22, 2019, 05:23:48 PM
Government should definitely sponsor if the need be else how do you expect the right talent to give an opportunity if you are not able to provide them platform . Through cricket it creates a name in the rest of the world and it could lead to many things else as well in near future .
These are funny circumstances and West Indies cricket team is a combination of a few countries and which government will sponsor the team, if they start sponsoring the cricket team then the rest of the sporting teams will come forward for government aide and hence it is an impossible task and the ICC does not want the political system to control the cricket board and if something has to be done they need the help of ICC.

5610  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs really DEAD or simply cleared a path for better projects? on: November 21, 2019, 05:16:28 PM
ICOs is not dead, it's just that now rarely do projects launch ICOs because investors now prefer IEO to invest their money. And investors are more confident in the IEO project because when the sale of tokens is finished then tokens/coins can be traded on exchangers

I don't agree with this logic. If that was the case, then there should have been the same number of IEOs. For comparison, we had hundreds of ICOs getting listed every month in 2017/18. Now this number has fallen to a few dozen per month. But the number of IEOs is also very low. They number only 10-15 per month. So it is not accurate to say that the ICO investors have shifted to IEO. Most of them have moved away from crypto altogether.
5611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: waiting for altcoin season might take time on: November 21, 2019, 05:10:06 PM
If an altcoin season occurs, then it will be fabulous. But until then, it will be better to concentrate on Bitcoin. Some attention can be given to the most promising ones out of the established altcoins, such as Ethereum and Litecoin. Investment in new projects and the little known altcoins needs to be postponed until the start of the next altcoin bull run.
5612  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 21, 2019, 05:04:00 PM
The main reason ICC is implementing day night Test match is because they think they can attract the crowd and whether these experiments will succeed can be seen in the future, when ODI started day night matches they were able to attract more crowds to the ground and even in this longer format i think they are trying to replicate that success.

The only reliable method to attract the crowd is to make sure that the matches are not one-sided. People may be attracted by the concept of Day/Night test matches, but the curiosity will not remain forever. Here are some of my suggestions:

1. Remove the concept of toss. The visiting team will decide which side will bat first.
2. The big-3 (India, Australia and England) will play more often, and each series between these three sides will consist of 5 test matches each.
3. Series between the big 3 and the other teams will consist of single test matches.
4. The ICC will make sure that players from West Indies, Pakistan.etc play for their national sides whenever there is a test match going on.
5. If a team performs poorly on a consistent basis (such as Zimbabwe), then the test status should be permanently cancelled.
5613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty hunters do not need to wait for altcoin season on: November 21, 2019, 04:56:20 PM
Because we all still believe that altcoin season would seriously help to improve the prices of altcoins that we promoted, because nowadays all altcoins that have a bounty programme are losing massively after the first exchange listing.

Out of the thousands of ICOs we had in 2017 and 2018, how many are surviving now? I won't be surprised if the number is less than 10%. And only a few dozen among them have given consistent returns in the long-term. The situation won't improve even if there is an altcoin season. The ICOs will be successful only if the developers work hard and come up with new ideas. Depending on the market sentiment alone will be suicidal. And it will be like trying to leach off from the existence of Bitcoin.
5614  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: November 21, 2019, 04:15:54 PM
~snip~

That 281 by VVS Laxman was against one of the best bowling attacks of that time. And it will be difficult to believe that it came during the 3rd innings. India followed on after getting all-out for 171 in the first innings, but then made 657/7 in the next innings. Laxman and Dravid had a 5th wicket partnership of 376 runs, against a bowling attack that consisted of McGrath, Gillespie and Warne.
And not to mention that Test was actually a historic Test. The entire Indian team took a U - turn and save the series from losing. They also stopped the consecutive Test winning record in this series.
If I can recall then this was the third Test of the series and first two Test was already won by Australia. India drew that Test and then won the last two Test.
Please help me to find the record. I am not sure if I am right but my memory is saying something like this.

You can find the details of that series here:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/scores/series/15565/australia-tour-of-india-2000-01

I feel sad whenever I recall information about these old matches, because I still miss some of the players. Glenn McGrath was one of my favorite fast bowlers and even after almost two decades I don't think that the Australians have found a successor to him. Harbhajan Singh handled the spin department for India back then, and I rate him above any of the present day Indian spinners.
5615  Economy / Economics / Re: stupidity is so close to poverty on: November 21, 2019, 04:10:35 PM
I don't think like you, not everyone who is rich is smart or who is poor is also a fool, although in today's society everyone wants to get rich and financial freedom but besides that there are still groups of people in society who choose to be materially poor because they simply want a peaceful life, they don't love material things or money, it's more important for them to be happy or have a happy family , there are still stupid rich people because they are the ones who inherit wealth from others, they are descendants of the rich or they may be lucky with winning lottery tickets or gambling .... I think the reason you're always poor even though you don't want it to happen because you're too lazy, lack of self-discipline and often blame everything.

Well... this group of people... I mean those who don't love material things... are idiots in my opinion. Because in the modern world, everything depends on your wealth. If you have enough money, then you will be able to lead a peaceful life. You don't have to worry about emergency situations, medical conditions, utility bills.etc. You can have a peaceful life even if you are poor. But then, you won't be very happy. You will be leading a hand-to-mouth existence, and you may not be able to afford if some unexpected expense comes along.
5616  Economy / Economics / Re: Negative interest rates in Germany on: November 21, 2019, 04:04:42 PM
Euro is a inflationary currency and there is no valid logic behind charging negative interest rates. Even in Japan (where the currency is deflationary), the interest rates are positive in most of the cases. This is a very stupid move from the European Central Bank and will result in the banks (and the HNW individuals) finding some other alternative to storing their money in the central bank.
5617  Economy / Economics / Re: Does China Control Bitcoin? on: November 21, 2019, 03:52:33 PM
For many years they declared banning bitcoin, banning crypto but behind them they allowed many tech companies to develop their own Blockchain.  They recently announced the release of their own national cryptocurrency, claiming support for blockchain as well as cryptocurrency mining operations.

They never banned Bitcoin. And tell me how is it possible to ban Bitcoin, when it is not a physical asset? All they did was restricting the conversion of fiat to cryptocurrency (and vice-versa), but then the users quickly found a loophole by resorting to stablecoins such as Tether and Pax USD. And they never made any attempt to close down the giant mining farms.
5618  Economy / Economics / Re: Paypal Drops Pornhub Support, Pornhub Is Now Exploring Cryptocurrency Options on: November 21, 2019, 03:46:25 PM
Crypto currency is an ideal option for services such as Pornhub, because no one bothers you to use what you want, no one can impose your moral standards on you. I think all services and shops need to consider the option of accepting payments in cryptocurrency and accept different cryptocurrencies. Any coins are suitable for payment on the Internet, not only anonymous. For example, it’s convenient for me to use Ethereum and Dogecoin.

There is a catch though. With cryptocurrency payments, a need may arise for age verification. This requirement is not there with credit card payments, as the KYC process is already completed for the CCs. Now the governments have gone one step further and some are planning to make it mandatory for porn users to do age verification through live webcam.

Sourav Ganguly first gig turning out to be good for Test cricket so far, he left no stone unturned for this. Inviting Bangladesh's Hon. PM Sheikh Hasina along with first test team of Bangladesh. i really hope after this he will take care of spectators concerns regarding stadium facilities etc.
This will be great. He is trying to create some buzz around. I guess the match will be full of visitors. Well, he will certainly take care of everything, he was a good sportsman after all.
It's Eden Garden; oldest stadium in India. Let me bring some test history for team India on the board.

Highest Score- 657/d by India
Lowest Score- 90 by India
Lowest Win Margin- 28 runs by India
Highest Individual- 281 by VVS Laxman

These are some good stats for the upcoming match. Moreover, it's the broken Bangladesh.

5620  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Abu Dhabi T10 League 2019 on: November 21, 2019, 03:17:07 PM
The main reason is the saturation of tournaments and leagues around the world, IPL started this frenzy and India is a cricket crazy nation and you will find audience for majority of the sporting events and if there are more leagues and if you expect audience to turn out for every match then you might get disappointing, and may be these countries are trying to come up with T20 leagues to replicate the football leagues around the world Cheesy.

Actually it was Subhash Chandra of the Essel Group who came up with the idea of franchise based T20 league in India. He came up with the Indian Cricket League in 2007, despite stiff opposition by the N Srinivasan led BCCI. However when the invention became a successful one, the BCCI stole his idea and came up with their own league (the Indian Premier League).
Yes, that's true. When we talk of the league gaining such a big popularity is all because of the BCCI. If this was being conducted by the Essel Group under Subash Chandra it might have not been this successful. Also the league will be of unfamiliar faces, and the popular faces wouldn't have participated. In some perspective it is truly a stolen idea, but the success happened as it got stolen.

The BCCI is more like an old school body, which has historically opposed new innovations in cricket. When the T20 format was first introduced, the BCCI opposed it to the tooth and nail. Another example is regarding the Umpire Decision Review System (DRS). The BCCI was probably the only board to oppose the DRS. And we have to remember that BCCI is the reason why cricket remains excluded from international sports competitions such as the Asian Games, Olympics and the Commonwealth games.
