Sad to see so many people moan that things are bad for bitcoin with what's happened lately and then they rain on any news that might push mass adoption a little further... think guys, this is not a bad thing... did you manage get Bloomberg's (or anyone's) attention with a positive bitcoin story lately? If so, please share... I'd love to hear.

Push mass adoption a little further? Have you watched the bloomberg interview? Absolutely nothing was answered, he couldn't even explain what this platform does exactly, total waste of interview time.

Pretty sure Nic Cary explained that Blockchain's existing web and mobile based ZeroBlock trading platform would use RTBTC's robust realtime trading application:

Did they say how much they paid for RTBTC?

Cary said on Bloomberg he wasn't at liberty to discuss the amount of BTC they purchased RTBTC at.  My guess a very significant amount of Bitcoins as RTBTC handled over $150 million in trades since it launched last year.
5624  Bitcoin / Hardware / Does anyone know the difference in these 3 miners? on: March 04, 2014, 06:57:36 PM
Lightning Asic 1 TH/s Miner:

Dragon 1 T Miner:

JingTian or JT Miner:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=470386.0

Well at least the JT Miner is a whole different form factor.  The Lightning and Dragon Miners look almost exactly the same.  All 3 have very similiar specs, all made in from China, and seem to be launching around the same time.

Are these just the same chips but in different boxes, or are they all very different? Someone want to clue me in?
5625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CEO of Blockchain.info tweets "Big News Dropping Tomorrow" on: March 04, 2014, 06:23:05 PM
Apparently, Nic Cary's big news was the announcement on Bloomberg of Blockchain.info's acquisition of RTBTC, a real-time trading platform, in all Bitcoin, not a cash acquisition.

http://www.bloomberg.com/video/blockchain-to-buy-bitcoin-trading-platform-BctAVYdISW2o0rYJTNK_XQ.html

Pretty significant for day traders and gives people in finance some legitimate realtime tools.

Zeroblock will incorporate RTBTC to make an aggregated order book, to trade on all the Bitcoin exchanges on desktops and mobile devices.

Not super ground shaking for the community as a whole, but gives investors something great to work with and a general front-end or dashboard in Zeroblock:

So I've noticed that postings on this forum have dropped significantly.  What's up with that?

The only thing that I can think of is that there is a significant amount of members that were burnt by the GOX debacle and are now despondent. As a result, there is an avoidance of anything Bitcoin related for awhile.

Probably another result is the change in forum policy with signatures from Moderator Theymos.  He applied it globally so only Full Members and up have color, larger font, etc in their signature lines.

Less new members spamming posts all over the place because they won't get paid the same way with small advertising sigs.
Atleast get your facts straight before posting. There are not only the newbie posts that have decreased, have a look around, this counts for everyone, including non-spammers. They removed the incentive of posting together with the incentive of posting. ( Not saying it's dead, it's far from, but it's way calmer since the change ).

What facts did I not construe correctly?

I said new members IE Newbies, Jr members, and Members.  Those seem to be the most to gain, since for the most part they're generally new to Bitcoin and have more incentive to gain from signature advertising.

I agree with the cleaning up of posts, deterring offtopic threads, and general better discussion across the board.

Not sure what your problem is.
Bold part is an implication that the -only- reason post count has gone down is cause -new- members aren't spamming anymore.
Half the truth is not straight facts.

Huh?  Only new members are getting the price decrease to .0001.  Seniors, Heroes, etc still get their .0003 if I'm not mistaken due to their big sigs.
Oh geez man, Primedice isn't the only paying advertising service. Check services board for more.
Also, I re-read your post explaining what you meant as 'new' accounts. I would myself not include members into 'new' accounts, newbies mainly and perhaps jr members. But if that's what you meant you're basically right, my bad.

I know there are other services providing advertising.  PD probably had the best or one of the best pre-forum cleansing.

I still consider myself new, even though I'm a "Member".  No worries bro, we're all on the same team.   Wink

5631  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just about the best explanation of Bitcoin for newbies ever! on: March 04, 2014, 05:04:22 PM
The best part is at the end, See Also "Ponzi Scheme".

Any newbie that reads that might actually think it's accurate and true.

If they read that far and still don't get that it is a joke then they are already lost. The Ponzi Scheme was pretty funny too. I just love uncyclopedia :-)

FYI, there are still noobs in here trying to mine Bitcoins with CPUs and questions that you or I might think are elementary.

People are still trying to buy BFL Monarch's for chrissakes!   Tongue

Don't underestimate the uninformed newbie.

I received my new 2 S1 units with reasonable customs charge.

I have a strange problem with one of them units. It's showing 151% hardware failure rate.... I mean how is that even possible?

EDIT: How in the world do I attach an image?

Go to imgur, then drop the link here, highlight the link, then click on "insert image" forum toolbar button.

5637  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: best miner deal on: March 03, 2014, 11:18:55 PM
Wait for AsicMiner to come out with something in March/April.  Should be interesting and cost competitive.
Asicminer were responsible for setting the high prices that never ever would pay themselves off that became the norm that all other ASIC manufacturers then followed. There is no reason to expect they will do anything different this time around.

Fine, maybe not Asicminer.  We'll see what they have to offer soon.

Bitmain Antminer S2 on the other hand...if it's anything like the S1 in pricing, performance, efficiency, and stability could be awesome sauce.
5638  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The completely evaluation of Dragon 1 T bitcoin miner from china on: March 03, 2014, 09:27:35 PM

The link you posted magically changed to available on March 15th.  Sold out it says

Also, the price dropped from $9500 to $6890.  Very sketchy to say the least.

Proceed with caution.

I think,
Fake price, fake buy, fake wall
Everything is the same as the MtGox, thereafter Bitstamp will disappear !
History repeats itself

Give it a rest Igorr, your FUD threads backfired.

Hope you're long now, if you're still short I feel bad for you right now.
5640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: KNC giving out free Bitcoins on: March 03, 2014, 06:09:59 PM
remember guys, it is server controlled. so do not put life savings into it. just put daily pocket money amounts in.

.. you dont want to get goxxed

Understood.  I only have the $5 or 0.0085BTC that KNC pre-funded.

Hopefully, I can transfer their freebie to my cold wallet later, then uninstall from my Galaxy.
