5621  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tony Hawk foundation accepting Bitcoin! on: February 14, 2020, 05:22:57 PM
I really like how Bitcoin becomes more and more commonly accepted for donations, it really does bring benefits for this use case, since PayPal and other methods often have some minimal fees or just don't work in some country, while Bitcoin has none of those obstacles. Though it is bad that donations are often accepted via BitPay, which has unnecessary fees and introduces centralization.
I agree that it's good that it's happening. I think it's very important because in the eyes of many people Bitcoin is either a scam or money of criminals. Cases like this one cast doubt on these stereotypes, allowing to see that just like any other type of money Bitcoin can be used for good and bad stuff alike. I remember I saw another case when Bitcoin was donated to a university by its Alumni to help out + raise awareness of what Bitcoin is and how it's used. I've never heard of Hawk but helping people to have bright enough childhood seems like a good goal.
5622  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy Bitcoin Valentine's Day! on: February 14, 2020, 05:07:27 PM
Seeing that we are all sharing some of our time with each other every day, I just wanted to say Happy Valentine's Day to all of you. I hope you are going to share the Bitcoin love with loads of people, without sharing to many viruses.  Cheesy

Let's forget about all the problems and fighting for a day and concentrate on the positive thing that brought us together here, namely : Bitcoin.  Wink

I decided to spread the Bitcoin love today and I created some paper wallets with a small amount of coin on it and I am going to distribute this to random people on the street in my city. I am adding a flower for the ladies with the little paper wallet and a link to this site to get more information about Bitcoin.

I hope some of you will do the same today, so that we can spread the Bitcoin love.  Grin  Wish me luck, it is surely going to be a interesting day.

Ps. I am keeping the private keys and if the coins are not moved until the next Valentine's Day, I will take back my gifts.  Grin
Yeah, Bitcoin is what unites this community, so this is also something to celebrate today. I think your idea is nice, but adding a flower for females seems too traditionalist to me. IMO it should be either no flowers or flowers for everyone (and I'd choose 'no flowers', because killing them so that someone can enjoy them for a couple of days does not make much sense to me, and they're usually ridiculously overpriced). Please tell us how it goes, I guess photos of how this looks like would be nice as well (obviously, the wallet addresses and stuff should be blurred). How do you plan to distribute them? Just give to people personally? I bet many people wouldn't accept because of thinking that all this is very suspicious. I would not take anything from a stranger, for instance. But perhaps leaving a note along with the necessary data somewhere in the cafes or something could work better, I don't know.
5623  Economy / Gambling / Re: The Best Bitcoin Valentines Day Promotions! on: February 13, 2020, 10:01:26 PM
I think it's nice that some casinos are offering promos, but the list you're suggesting is rather small. Moreover, none of these casinos are among the most reputable ones, so to be honest, I would not risk depositing money there, hoping for a bonus... Does anyone know about such promos offered by trusted casinos? I guess the thing is that it's not easy to make a gambling promo love-themed (and it might be considered as ethically challenging by some people), so it's not that common. I couldn't find any such promos from the casinos I know and trust.
5624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: YouTube Binance impostor: what is happening right now? on: February 13, 2020, 09:47:58 PM
They took it down pretty fast iyam... Within 2 hours both of the videos I reported have been removed. Considering they would get hundreds of thousands of reports, 2 hours to review isn't bad... They also took down other videos with the similar titles which I didn't even report. So it looks like we can do our part. Just report them and leave a detailed comment and the videos should go down.

These two channels were the ones I reported:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2Cl2g2xFTZoAEldxYVzQFg/videos
https://www.youtube.com/user/antonioeafsi/videos

@buwaytress That only applies on AdWords you can still upload content on Youtube, Rank keywords on Google if they are crypto-related, You just can't advertise on Adwords which too isn't enforced properly, Also it's not a 100% fool-proof system I have seen many ads which seem to have by-pass their apparent ban. Google AdWords, however, do allow ads from "Regulated exchanges" I dunno wtf is that supposed to mean or how does one become Regulated with Google, Only they are allowed to advertise their business with Google.
It's great that they are taking some videos down, but it seems that these methods aren't very effective. I cannot come up with a better one, but it does not mean that what we have is okay. If you do as much as just type 'Binance' on youtube right now, the first four videos you'll see (sorted automatically by relevance) are 4 scammy live broadcasts in a row. Each is these broadcasts has thousands of viewers (maybe they're bought, I don't know, but look bad to me) right now, and it's been a couple of days since this thing started, I personally reported it to a live support chat worker that said that this will be forwarded to the security team specifically, you guys and many others probably reported the videos already, and yet the scammers successfully continue their activities.

Edit: You know what? I've just accessed your links and the videos are showing just fine to me! Interesting! Maybe I did not report these specific channels (although I guess I did), and Youtube is being diplomatic, not showing these videos to you since you clearly don't want to see them but also not really blocking them for other people! Are they still unavailable on your side?
5625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andrew Yang, a Pro-Bitcoin US Presidential Candidate Drops out of the Race on: February 12, 2020, 06:05:16 PM
I saw Andrew in two of the debates, he spoke well but didn't seem to have the natural ability of connecting well with people.

It's the problem I saw in his debates as well. He lacks the charisma most politicians have when it comes to public speaking. While his POV regarding the problems of contemporary United States plus his openness towards new innovation is amazing, if you lack a certain aspect--the feel of the people most especially--on what people are looking for in the next POTUS, you simply won't take the cut.

Bernie is even trying so hard to throw shade at Trump, though that's justified knowing how thick of a knob the current POTUS is. Good thing Yang hasn't done any of that mud-slinging towards anyone, and if he continues that, he's got a long way ahead of him in clean politics.
I've never heard of this guy, but maybe it's because I am not from the US and don't follow its political situation closely. You're saying he can succeed in clean politics, but is there such a thing as clean politics? I hope that being honest, smart and helpful will be something that gets a person elected, but the experience shows otherwise. I read a bit about him, and he seems like a good person, so it's sad that he's out. Let's see if anyone who's left is pro-Bitcoin. Bloomberg and Klobuchar are rather against, Biden, Weld, and Patrick are unclear (no evidence for or against); for Buttigieg, Steyer and Tulsi Bitcoin is a commodity, Sanders is rather supportive (which is good!), Warren is hard to tell. Yeah, the prospects are not very good...
5626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bulgaria's government is top countries of the world for owning the most bitcoin on: February 12, 2020, 04:58:31 PM
I stand with those that say we need proof to discuss this topic normally. I, for one, have never even heard of Bulgaria holding a lot of BTC. From what others say, it seems that there is no strong evidence to support this view. When googling, I can see that there are some articles about this, but they don't look convincing. From what I've read, there's been a seizure of 200k BTC by Bulgarian government a couple of years ago. As another article suggests, however,
Quote
Specifically, local news publication Bivol wrote in April 2018, the government auctioned off its haul in a low-key affair which involved various international buyers.
So while this amount seems to be huge (yet still around 1% of BTC), it's probably been disposed of during the auctions. Maybe that's why it's hard to find the info about the address with all this money or something else: it seems that Bulgaria does not have it anymore.
5627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin can save some people's lives :-> on: February 12, 2020, 04:10:28 PM
At first, I also thought that it's an overstatement that this coronavirus can survive on banknotes, so I did a bit of research. It seems that there is no conclusive evidence about that because many things about the virus remain unknown. In any case, money is very dirty, unlike most things we touch that often. And banknotes can contribute to the spread of some diseases, so even if it's not about coronavirus or not about viruses at all, it's still a real problem. I agree with you that cashless payments could improve the situation, and Bitcoin is one of them. However, could you elaborate on why Bitcoin can same some lives, not cashless payments in general? I mean, you do say that it's about cashless payments, but do you think there's anything that makes Bitcoin stand out in these illness-related cases?
5628  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Google Searches of Bitcoin on: February 12, 2020, 03:57:25 PM
Okay, these are just facts. But what do they tell us? What should we discuss here?
I think it's natural that Bitcoin halving search results are growing since the event is just months away. As for Bitcoin search results being 33% up, I don't know if it's really because of the price, but it might be the reason. I am also wondering how much this search result number fluctuates over a longer period of time (is 33% a big deal or not). Moreover, does the amount of searches rise when Bitcoin is going down? So is it the fluctuation that causes the rise or positive news only?
In any case, searches don't tell us much about what's going to happen, they might not lead to anything.
5629  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: IDEA for a lottery that does not depend on luck on: February 11, 2020, 04:54:07 PM
The issues with this specific suggestion have been brought up already. People can guess the same number, trust issues, manipulations... For instance, op, as for your option of a 1-week period, say a person predicts that the pot will be something big like 0.5 BTC, and then close to the end of weekly period bets as many times as necessary to make this prediction true. Oh, and what does not allow you, the creator to fill in the pot in a way that everyone's predictions are wrong but the one made by you/your friend is the winning one?
I really like the idea of a skill-based 'lottery', but it should be something other than predicting the pot, something with fewer issues.
5630  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling and health 🤕symptoms on: February 11, 2020, 04:37:15 PM
I have read this article: Youth gambling problems: a public health perspective I consider it important for gamblers, Gambling addiction greatly contributes to drug and alcohol abuse and theft. Joining a casino makes you lose a lot of money and smoke a lot of cigarettes and wine, This, of course, will pose a major threat to your health!!!

Can crypto really give solutions to gambling addicts?
-Eliminate drug and alcohol addiction.
-Get rid of bad habits like theft.
-Reducing the risk ratio.....

😉Did joining gambling make you addicted to drugs and drink?!!

I am young, and I gamble occasionally. I neither drink nor do drugs. I also don't steal anything and don't smoke at all. Am I the exception? Maybe. But when I first encountered some research on gambling addiction, I was surprised to learn that it is something that does not happen with the majority of gamblers. When people talk about the dangers of gambling, they often focus on addiction as a serious problem. It makes it look like gambling = gambling addiction, but that is not the case. According to the data on the US I've found, less than 5% of gamblers are addicted. And the article you're sharing says that 80% of youngsters are not at risk of problem gambling (even though addiction seems to be a bigger problem for very young people). So it's a lot about framing (one can say that 95% of gambling adults are not addicted or that 5 out of 100 people experience serious troubles with gambling; same info, different likely reactions).
5631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Oscar Awards 2020 betting on: February 11, 2020, 04:18:33 PM
I have only seen Joker from the list of the movies here and I think it has good chances to win the Oscar this year.I will probably see 1917 movie now that I have read here it is a great movie and maybe is even better than Joker.
These kind of bets rarely are manipulated by the bookies so it is a good opportunity to bet for those who watch every movie that comes out.
Yes! my vote is in Joker as well! The actor is good as well as how does the story flows and how it catches the attention of the viewers, here in us , it becomes one of the trending movie when it is showing in the cinemas, I would love to watch Parasite as well, it is an Asian movie that has been received many awards in US, many people are recommending it, I think they aren't over rated so I would watch it next week, since there is a special screening here in my country, due to public demand.
I've seen different movies from the nominations, and it's unbelievable for me that the most likely winner is 1917 (I am talking about the Best Movie award right now). I mean, it's a beautiful movie, but it does not have anything too deep in it. Moreover, it's not very relevant today. Joker, on the other hand, is a breakthrough in villain portrayal, it's about a topic that is very relevant nowadays, and it is a kind of movie that has made huge impact on culture already. The odds for betting on Joker are amazing. Today I made my first bet, I put some money on Joker on Sportsbet.io. Let's see how it goes!

If you are a bettor on this one, it will be more exciting to follow.
However, on my end, I'll just sit and relax and wait for the winners to be announced.
Because the film industry has their own criteria on how they choose the winners.
People outside their genre would find it hard to guess how their mind works.
I have watched most of the movies in the list so it will be interesting for me also to know the results.

I've been watching the ceremony live for 10 years or so, but this year was the first time I did not do that (I had important stuff at work, and since I live in Europe the Oscars are early in the morning). Instead, it was the first time I was betting on them. I guess I should've just waited for the results to be announced and relaxed, 'cause I lost all of the bets  Grin It's an interesting thing because even the 'safe bets' were not that safe this year. There've been at least a couple of nominations (including the main one) that resulted in the winning of someone who was not the most likely winner.
5632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: YouTube Binance impostor: what is happening right now? on: February 11, 2020, 04:12:41 PM
I just wonder when the hell is Google going to take action and stop these streams.

After what happened with the crypto content creators on youtube recently (channels getting striked etc) I do believe that it will take longer and longer before those streams are taken down. Crypto related videos on youtube are getting falsely reported a lot, either by scammers or competing altcoins or content creators, which means that Google has to spend time analyzing the reports manually.
Yeah, it's also a problem... I think it's rather easy to draw a line between scam and non-scam (if a person's asking to deposit money to a wallet for something greater in return, it's a scam). But algorithms might not be good at distinguishing different cases. The live transactions are still on, and there are still thousands watching them. This 'verified account' thing is very smart, it makes the scam more truth-like. After all, sometimes casinos, for instance, do offer deposit bonuses that might look like the same scheme...
there have been thousands of youtube accounts being hacked and taken over by the hackers and posting crypto related stuff like fake giveaways.
Recently?  I wonder how hard it is to get your Youtube account hacked--I guess it depends on whatever your password is (the obvious answer) and how easy it is to recover it once it is hacked.  I wasn't aware that this was becoming a problem, but maybe I've had the naive belief that it would be hard to pull off a hack/scam on Youtube.  Makes me wonder if this is at least somewhat in response to Youtube's banning of crypto videos not too long ago.

You can read it here: Security Warning For 23 Million YouTube Creators Following ‘Massive’ Hack Attack.

It was reported as early as September 2019, and then after that we have seen hundreds if not thousands of fake give-aways on Youtube after that.
Thanks, I did not know it was that common! I've never seen an account getting hijacked like that and used for scamming, especially on Youtube. Unfortunately, it seems that there's nothing Binance can do, because it's been a day since this scam started, and the scammers are still broadcasting.
5633  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / YouTube Binance impostor: what is happening right now? on: February 10, 2020, 08:14:19 PM
Edit: I contacted the Binance live chat support and told them about the issue. They said they'll look into it.
For now, we can report the channels on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2Cl2g2xFTZoAEldxYVzQFg
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYP6V7c4M026AXMr4ng6aQA
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCY3sxY1IkEC4c210mDrU83w
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS4g09DPtz7u_S1hTStWtlA.

So I was surfing through YouTube and something caught my eye. A subscription to Binance exchange. I knew I was not subscribed to it, so I decided to investigate. This is something I've never seen before. Geohistory, a great channel with historical events explained through maps, has clearly been hacked, and the channels are now called Binance. Apart from that, they are broadcasting right now what is clearly a scam scheme. Here's one of the broadcasts: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rqN5GwYVDLI.
Has there been any reaction from Binance yet? The impostors did not only hack the creators I liked, they are spoiling the reputation of a great exchange. Is there anything we can do to help stop this?
I'll try contacting Binance via a chat support on their website.
5634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What p2p games will you play? on: February 09, 2020, 05:46:50 PM

If you have noticed recently there was promotion about the P2P betting site related to binary trading (BETLLER.IO) it was stopped already and I guess only few are playing against each other. I have not see other p2p gambling sites but what sort of games do you think will work for p2p that you think you will play?

I would definitely like to see more P2P Hold 'em poker, there are too sites offering this right now.

Would also be nice to see a P2P dice game, where several people throw dice and whoever gets the highest score wins the pot. I don't think I've seen a site offering a game like this despite it being pretty easy to implement.

Also, it would be sweet if a platform could make a P2P version of crash, seems like it could easy to add on given how the game works.
I believe I've seen a p2p website that had dice, but I cannot find it right now, and it definitely was not one of the famous ones... It seems that while such games sound attractive in theory, people tend to prefer classical games on reputable websites... I've seen various websites trying to promote multiplayer games and offer some of them, but in the end, they die so fast that it's even hard to remember their names... As for crash, it seems that bustabit is offering players to play with each other. At least, that's what they claim on the website, although I only played crash on my own.
5635  Economy / Gambling / Re: MALUBIT.com - Livesport - Bitcoin - Betting! on: February 09, 2020, 10:52:18 AM
I am sorry but I'll start with the name. I realize you probably won't change it since it's registered, licensed and everything, but since malum is a Latin word for evil and harm, and the root 'mal' is still present in various words in English, it's like Malubit is warning you that something shady's going on... Why did you choose Malubit? Perhaps, if you explained it in the ANN thread, this could help not to form this association. Oh, and if this is your ANN thread, please add some screenshots and stuff for it to look more like the ANN threads we're used to. Good luck!
5636  Economy / Gambling / Re: [NEW TRX Gambling Platform] 10 day Pre-Launch, 50 gamblers only on: February 09, 2020, 10:38:56 AM
May I ask why you chose TRX? I know this crypto and even have some of it somewhere, but with the market of altcoins not getting revived along with Bitcoin, I don't think many people use them... Ethereum is a way more famous option, but even Ethereum-only casinos tend not to gain popularity within the community. Ethereum is about smart contracts, so there's a point in building an Ethereum-only casino. Does TRX offer a similar thing? Even if it does, it seems that people tend to prefer reputable casinos that accept Bitcoin rather than casinos that cannot scam you but require additional apps, extensions, and specific altcoins to be used...
5637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🔥Stake sportsbook prop betting🔥 🏆Special giveaways incl.📢10mbtc trivia🏆 on: February 09, 2020, 10:18:10 AM
I just realized I am not eligible for a giveaway since even though it's the first time I am using the website, I created an account a while ago. But that's alright, I decided to deposit and place some bets anyway  Smiley
I am thinking that it does not make sense to bet on 1917 because the payout is not great, so I decided to put small amounts of money on the most unlikely Best Picture winners. I know it's unlikely, but why not try, am I right?
I also wanted to place a couple of other bets on other Oscar nominations, but I am unable to do that... I don't know, maybe it's me not doing it right (although I placed some bets without any issues before) or perhaps it's just that the event is too soon and the bets are not accepted anymore...
In any case, good luck to everyone!
Edit: No, I guess it was me not being used to the website because the betting is working now.
5638  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Bitcoin withdrawal fee is damn high in exchanges! on: February 09, 2020, 09:50:00 AM
The only lackings I see in bitcoin is its too high withdrawal fee. Almost every exchange takes such a huge fee for bitcoin transactions. I tried in several exchanges and was shocked because they all are asking 9-12$ withdrawal fee! What do you think about this issue guys? Why are they asking this high fee?
I have not used exchanges for a long while, but my last time was on HITbtc exchange, and I don't remember it being expensive... At the same time, it's easy to guess why exchanges raise their fees. For one, this is another source of income for them. Apart from that, a higher fee encourages people to keep their money on the exchange rather than withdraw immediately, which is also good for exchanges. Does Binance have high fees as well? According to what I see on Coingecko, it seems fine (although it could, of course, be around $10, because it depends on the amount of money you withdraw from there. Just look for an exchange which will be better for you. Good luck!
5639  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Main Club Partner of Watford FC ⚽ Fun. 🏀 Fast. 🎾 Fair. 🏆 on: February 08, 2020, 07:32:52 PM
FT Brighton & Hove Albion 1 - 1 Watford

Too bad Watford couldnt hold, I still believe the much better quality as a team and yeah, rating them outsiders today was probably wrong. Wink One point is better than nothing, lets hope for the best in the next big matches.
Edited, thanks morvillz7z, I did not watch the game and made a wrong assumption: It looked like they were going to win this one, they just had to play along and be careful... It's sad that a potential win ended in a tie, but I agree that it's not that bad, actually.

Meanwhile, Oscars are in 30 hours. Who else is betting on the best picture on Sportsbet? I put my money on Joker because while the odds are great, I truly believe it has a decent chance of winning, and that this movie is far more influential and way deeper than 1917 which is predicted as the most likely winner in this category.
5640  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin banking system on: February 08, 2020, 06:57:15 PM
Hello! What's your opinion could BTC kill banking system? Bitcoin has an advantage over fiatbecause its amount is limited and it can't fall under inflation.Inflation usually is caused by monetary policies of our central banks. Bitcoin is free from inflation, governement control and high transaction fees.Banks can’t control BTC because it has no representative and is fully decentralized. That's why banks are afraid of BTC.
Can Bitcoin challenge the banks? Can it show that their monopoly is not necessary? Yes, and it already did that. Furthermore, it can continue to become an alternative to a bank account with fiat to more and more people. However, at this point, I don't think the banks are about to die. For one, 97% of the population still uses fiat and nothing else as money, so Bitcoin is far too unknown for now. Another thing is that Bitcoin is more volatile, and some people can't stand it. Apart from that, it's always easier to give your money to the bank and then blame it is anything happens to your money. Bitcoin requires to take one's own responsibility and agree to a case with no guarantees, so many people won't opt for it simply because it would seem too unreliable to them.
