5621  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to Hit $150,000 in 2022 on: January 07, 2022, 07:25:42 AM
most likely 2022 is the year of correction, and when that will happen, that means bitcoin might dump $30k to $20k

Writing not to say other things and then thinking that this is the most likely outcome without any reasoning's just... well. Not that I don't agree it's a possibility but it's hard to see "correction" and "dump" in the same sentence, and even suggesting $20k without reflecting on the consequence of impact.

Bitcoin has never, ever, reverted to an ATH from a previous cycle (I think I actually asked a few months ago and it was confirmed), so there would be deep panic levels if that were to happen. If dumping were to ensue, that would hardly be a correction.

FA Cup giant killers bonus drop: that sounds like a pretty cool idea, but would have been even cooler to add the bonus on top of winnings for people actually backing giant killers. And there's always a few in every FA Cup edition Wink

Should even multiply the bonus by the number of divisions separating the underdog from the favourite: 1x bonus, 2x for 2 divisions, etc.

I know, easy for me to say haha.
5623  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Nexo - Anyone got any experience with them? on: January 06, 2022, 04:26:17 PM
You might also want to take note that despite the 8% for stable coins retained, it may actually be lower as it is subject to change. Some are saying it is actually 6.5%.

I think it might not be worth the risk. While they are claiming it is risk-free, of course, we all know it isn't.

Thanks for the quote, sent me a reminder to update that thread as well. I'm a user so I can see all the actual rates and keep myself pretty updated. No need to explain all my considerations, as the thread you linked to already contains relevant discussions.

I can confirm 8% is still retained for all stablecoins I have there, just checked today and it fits. In fact, it goes up to 12%, depending on how much NEXO you hold (which increases your level and rate) and whether you choose to receive interest in their token.

There hasn't be any news to suggest they'll change, and there's already discussion as to why stablecoins retain the rate (which make sense to me now when initially it didn't). Of note, fiat accounts also have the same rate (!). EUR, GBP, USD.

The last major update I already shared in that thread (only BTC to have reduced interest rates).
5624  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 06, 2022, 03:38:58 PM
4 games postponed, and I just came in now realising I already missed 3, BTTS was there for everyone, and a cracker in the Lazio game apparently, 6 goals, 8 cards, what a fest heh. Immobile loves playing. Also couldn't help notice there was 21 in the Spezia game (it's like my mind automatically looks now because of Sportsbet's BJ!). Hope the Milan and Juve games are good, I'm still deciding which to watch and which to sacrifice to make dinner.

Napoli @6.64 is my pick tonight. Surely they've to come out of the blocks?

5625  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Nexo - "Earn 8% dividend a year with no risks" on: January 06, 2022, 03:01:22 PM
Somehow missed your last response here @DarkStar_

New Year has arrived but I've to wait still until end of January for all of my NEXO amounts to unlock (I thought I switched off auto-renew on the FIXED terms which give a small bump in interest rates). Your explanation actually helps. And that's really what I don't want to do, if I get into these liquidity pools, I'll risk my coins against the other pair if they go up rapidly, which I don't want. And if I put it in a single coin pool, then I lose part of it to whichever pool happens to get hacked.

So I'm still uncertain if I'll go down that road, but if I do, I'll probably end up converting everything to stablecoin (which is what the majority of what I'm testing out on NEXO is anyway) and save myself the headache of wondering.

Anyway, January update for NEXO:
- they decided to retain old interest rates for ETH and others, so only BTC has the reduced interest rates effective last month (as updated in 2nd Nov '21 post above). Probably saw an outflow of users after this and/or expect staking on ETH 2 to prop them up.
- nothing else has changed.
5626  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Rally Proved Short-Lived, and $100K Dreams Faded on: January 06, 2022, 01:42:45 PM
I don't like putting the blame on a major swift in price and a continuous bearish or bullish tren on a single event, the same case happening here, and when I see ETF, meh, who still cares about ETFs right now?

Yep. I actually thought this ETF thing died a while back already, whatever assumptions people had priced in long before this rally began, and the whimper of market reaction to when the first ETFs finally got approved seemed to confirm it.

We didn't have that so-called natural growth last time, it was in my opinion driven more by speculation or plain hype than real adoption.
I think things need to calm down with the price for a while to let real price discovery happen, not fantasy projects or laser eyes, see where we stand and from where we need to build on.

2017 had very little legs to stand on, and the collapse quickly thereafter proved that. This rally's already so different, public companies having it on books as you said, expansion of Bitcoin payment companies that weren't making similar moves in 2017 (talking about the Bitpays and Coinmes and smaller ones all seeing uptake of apps used to spend Bitcoin). That's my optimism that we're actually still on the up, and market numbers have never really been known to reflect fundamentals except in the long term.
5627  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin first week price speculation on: January 06, 2022, 11:56:03 AM
Well, things change. And they do, quickly, without rhyme nor reason, don't they? Posted at the start of the thread that was happy to get some bumper bonus, but actually would have been way better for me to wait to invoice right about now (tomorrow would have been the last day for me to do it).

As always, hindsight is the wisdom we pine for. Of course, with my luck the bounce will take us up and beyond by the time my next invoicing arrives.

I was also thinking about picking Senegal but their best striker Ismaila Sarr is injured and probably he won't play in Cup of Nations.

Sarr was never going to play anyway, the Hornets didn't want to lose him so wrote to get him released (also got it for Denis who won't play for Nigeria).

It's a shame but Arsenal will have more time to better prepare for FA Cup match starting in few days.
Is Salah and Mane OK and are they going to African Cup of Nations?
They are buddy, I wish them good luck with their countries but I really wish the AFCON wasn’t happening, we will miss them badly.

ya just got approved a couple of hours ago I think, Arsenal had to agree first I think (nice of them huh haha) and then both looked to the FA to fit their reschedule in. Salah and Mane are A-OK and already to Cameroon. Salah showed off his new hairstyle =D It's gonna a big happy affair, actually looking really really fun. They haven't hosted it in half a century! (trying not to miss them).

5631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Odds, units advantage | Sportsbook | +78295 units on: January 05, 2022, 06:19:04 PM
3 draws, not pretty, but we take some comfort in that tonight is a sure win (haha).

Cup games are anything but a given and I think bookies are giving Chelsea a bit too much of an advantage here, so I'm going with a Spurs win today, and double the stakes on them

200 units on Spurs to WIN vs Chelsea @4.68. Other odds: 4.30
Units advantage: 38x2=76

Running advantage after 96 bets: +11023 (+76)
All-time cumulative: +78,371
Running units after 95 bets (12W|83L): +2597 (-100)

Painful to watch the game last night, Chelsea completely overran Spurs, and their fastest and best passers were the back four... Moura was okay, and Son as usual their best player but when Kane is shit, the team is shit.

Since I like losing money so much, let's do another double stake on another team up against a fav.

200 units on Napoli to WIN vs Juventus @6.62. Other odds: 6.05
Units advantage: 57x2=114

Running advantage after 97 bets: +11137 (+114)
All-time cumulative: +78,485
Running units after 96 bets (12W|84L): +2397 (-200)
5632  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🎰 Sportsbet.io 🎰 "Soccer Blackjack" @ 21.00 odds on: January 05, 2022, 05:47:39 PM
Thought this thread needs a bump Wink And it's a pretty nice game tonight on the cards: London teams tend to be either extremes of dull football or entertaining, and since Tuchel gave us a rough ride I'm hoping they do much of the same against Conte.

Actually missed the last 3 editions, so good to see I avoided 2 busts. Got an outright on Spurs, Super Boost is also active on this game so don't miss it!

Edit:
Can't believe I missed another one haha! Came in only to take Spurs/Chelsea, but the Besiktas - Antalyaspor game ended at 21 points. Now playing extra time as the regular time match was 1-1. Well done to whoever took it, first one of 2022 in a Turkish cup game!

5633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2022, 04:03:50 PM
Oh what the hell, I was desperately looking for games to put accas on tonight, and then saw some good Copa rounds playing. I took the 12.50 specials on Valencia, Real Sociedad and Eibar all to win in regular time, and was thinking Valencia and Sociedad are super value to put on accas... then totally missed that all these games playing early.

Just saw they're all right now playing! Good news is Valencia, Real Sociedad, Eibar all up by half time heh.
5634  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 05, 2022, 03:57:19 PM
But long may United suffer, my best wish for them is the ignominy of Conference League and not making it past group stage.

Stop mincing words, tell us how you really feel.  Cheesy Grin

Fine, fine, I really feel all the bad things in the world for them. It's so sweet to see them spend so much and stumble like clowns. But in all seriousness, I do feel really bad for players that waste there. I was, for example, an admirer of Pogba, and more recently Sancho. I keep thinking "look how they massacred my boy"...

One of the most perplexing players in the league. Some days he genuinely looks like no one can stop him. I know we've had problems against in on multiple occasions. I think its his pace, and his athleticism which sort of puts a lot of fear into people. He does usually have decent dribbling ability, but he most definitely lacks any sort of end product to his game. I think that's why he hasn't been snapped up by a bigger club, and probably is destined to remain a lower league player.
I always considered him overrated. He has unbelievable speed and generally all athletic markers but that is not enough to be top footballer. He has very poor football intelligence and rarely chooses optimal move for his team. He has unbelievably bad first touch for professional footballer and quite poor cross. Basically push the ball past the opponent and run for it. Can work a couple of times but then the teams realize his limitations and just let him run and take a cross and defend it from there.

I saw him playing for Boro when I was trying to follow Leeds from 3+ seasons ago and he was hands down the fastest person in Championship ON the ball (probably fastest in England by rough estimation of just watching him). So yeah, his driblling's NOT bad, just terrible eye for vision, but he at least used to power right down the middle and that was effective for the sheer terror of seeing him rampaging away defences.

But it's really gone down in two seasons IMO. And that last game? Absolutely horrific, couldn't even take a throw-in properly, and every time he had the opportunity to swing in a cross or play a short pass he made me look good heh. As Trofo says, he doesn't have a good brain, but that's okay, you can at least train technique d he doesn't even look like he knows basic short passing on the wing.

I keep having faith he'll improve, because you usually can train a player in these things but he seems to have found a way to get worse. Sorry, didn't mean to take it out on him but he has pretty good players around him and Wolves need to take a European spot away from United =D
5635  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos says to stop using paper wallets, do you agree? on: January 05, 2022, 01:08:39 PM
Been a while since I watched his recent stuff, long time admirer here, but didn't know he'd be pushing a hardware wallet -- never mind that.

I like the idea of paper wallets, and I don't think those who do know how to use them should forget about them, but because I have evolving needs, I now prefer hardware wallet too. I like o_e_l_e_o's way of putting it: threat model. We should use the methods suited to our threat models.

But I also think that like most of his videos (if not all), his point is always for the newcomer. All things considered, it's dumber (easier) and more secure to not use paper wallets for the majority of people coming to Bitcoin new. Probably even for most long-timers.

Now a few weeks ago, I had to search ages for something I hadn't accessed in over 8 years. Still couldn't find it. Hasn't happened with my Bitcoin but I think about it (and check on it) often heh.
5636  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: January 04, 2022, 06:33:37 PM
Just realised there are some interesting Coupe games today, some already played but there are some tasty upset picks -- thinking of upsets against Marseille @11/1 but I wonder if Monaco and St Etienne are value bets against lower opposition? A handicap or HT win could easily get you about 2/1 on each of them. Don't know enough about French situations with teams though so am staying away from them (for now).

Thoughts?
Didn't pay attention to these games since I don't recall seeing interesting ones but it is funny to see Clermont and Rennes failing against Ligue 2 teams. Worst part Nancy and Bastia are sitting in the bottom of the table.. Otherwise there isn't other surprises over there.

So I'd have gotten away with the value bets if I paired them, but ended up spending money elsewhere (and losing it heh).

We've got even funnier potentials coming up I guess but Lens - Lille is the "pick" of the night as the only Coupe game before Friday Ligue 1 reopens at Bordeaux. Both tend to be really poor on corner counts, occasional high yellows, so it's set up to to be a drastically dull affair unless both play reserves (which they really shouldn't).

8th place vs 9th place, Lens to score first my value bet @1.85?

AFCON gettting some love from Sportsbet and my favourite type of tourney special is up (Outright bet, every win gives a free chip in a game) and the kicker is, a hattrick and win in any match gives you 0.5mbtc cash.

Senegal was always going to be my pick, betting outright on them ever since the Japan/Korean World Cup haha. To my surprise, they're actually the book favourites!

Don't forget to opt in first: https://sportsbet.io/promotions/africancup2021-outright-offer

Senegal ftw @6.50
5638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: January 04, 2022, 03:00:40 PM
I thought I was being REAL smart putting 3-1 on United but something is seriously wrong with Rashford, although I have to say, Adama Traore coming on in 2nd half looked like he doesn't even belong in Championship. Shocking ball control, shocking passing, he was never a clinical finisher and poor Jimenez looks like he's afraid of the shadows, but Adama has to be one of the most regressed players I've ever seen coming up from Championship.

@Welsh, yeah, this squad has long needed a cleanup, they cannot fit into the mould he has and their DNA simply doesn't allow it for now. Spare a thought for Rangnick, spiritual adviser of our godhead. But long may United suffer, my best wish for them is the ignominy of Conference League and not making it past group stage.

Nice going on the round guys, this is not a City pulling away with impossible lead in this pool. Just saw that Superbru updated the Round to add 3 more games, last night the Wolves game was supposed to be the last one but now we'll get 11 games in this round, so it'll end on Jan 12. I guess most of us should get 1 slam point this matchday unless those games screw us up with draws Wink
5639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: TX Cost , fees and gas on: January 04, 2022, 01:47:54 PM
Unfortunately these days people who talk about bitcoin fees seem to have never even used bitcoin.

I'm afraid the number of people claiming to use, invest, hold, Bitcoin etc. is too damn high. Most people who think they're using Bitcoin are either only speculating on an exchange, and have never so much as owned sole control of private keys, never mind signing a Bitcoin transaction, never mind understanding how fees work in any of the different networks they're using.

So they'll never enjoy the truly low fees Bitcoin has been enjoying for most of the years past. Peak network or not, they're paying some arbitrary fee and complaining about the value of Bitcoin being too high.

And no, I'm not being elitist, I'm a simple user. But I actually used to be really optimist about users until you start transacting Bitcoin with a lot of people and they give you exchange and app wallets.

Finally. A sweet win from Joao Moutinho to hammer the nail home in Rangnick's gegenpressing failure. Wolves deserved this, absolutely battering United's corner but man they need to find a way to be incisive if I've to back them again.

Going for a home acca today in Algeria and League Two:
100 units on ASM Oran, El Bayadh, Hamra Annaba, MO Bejaia and Forest Green Rovers to WIN @10.68. Other odds: 9.85.
Units advantage: 83

Running advantage after 95 bets: +10947 (+83)
All-time cumulative: +78,295
