5641  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can centralized parties used blockchain to store data on: January 27, 2021, 07:21:44 PM
It is different on your compromise. If the compromise happened directly on Twitter. Hacker changed your Twitter account's password on Twitter, Google has nothing to do and you can not say it is their failure to warn you. Twitter failed to warn you on the compromise instead.
I just added google because it is not good to save password online, but google can not be blamed in this because they are even the one that helped me by notifying me, I did not have them any blame.

It is good but did you use 2FA for your Twitter account?
No but I will turn it now from now, thank you for the good suggestion.
5642  Other / Beginners & Help / Can centralized parties used blockchain to store data on: January 27, 2021, 02:21:52 PM
I am now affraid to provide my information to third party because google that is not safe to use warn me about my twitter account password that has been compromised recently, I do not know if this is true but I believe it can not be lie, I changed my twitter account password immediately. I have forgotten that I back up on google, I removed the back up immediately because of what I learn from our forum bitcointalk that it is not also safe to have back up online.

I have read somewhere before about making use of blockchain to store data, I believe the strongest blockchain can be able to do that which is bitcoin blockchain. If blockchain is not hacked and unable to be attacked the data stored will be safe. I was and I am still wondering why third parties are not using blockchain to store customer data because it will be the safest. They use their own centralized data base that are often susceptible to hackers and now our data are no more safe. There are some people that will just be emailed and they will not know that it is from hackers, they will be scammed by that unless they know about such attack.

Why are third parties are not using bitcoin biockchian or blockchain to store customers data?
If they use it to store customers data, information will not be leaked? Like bitcoin I assumed YES.
Or are the third parties affraid because they want to be always centralized?
What is the remedy to customer data leakage?

@yahoo62278. Please we are not given username and also no space to register username along while signing up. What are we going to do about this?

Sorry for the question, I have seen where I can register the name, it worked perfectly.

5645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk ranking difficulty on: January 26, 2021, 09:09:29 PM
I’ve checked my data again just in case, and it’s consistent. Here is the update as of last Friday (same context: account created during 2020, non-banned, and merited at some point):
Code:
rank	       ProbableInitialRank	nUsers
Sr. Member New Era Newbie 8
Full Member New Era Newbie 17
Member         New Era Newbie 142
Jr. Member New Era Newbie 458
Newbie New Era Newbie 1482
Brand new Brand New 10
I was happy to be among the members that made it to full member, I thought I was poor to post but I have seen that only just 17 people among us that created an account 2020 got to full member it is a nice thing to know. This shown let us know about how truly difficult has been for people to rank up, lesser people ranked up to senior member, everything is getting more difficult but it is good because it makes the forum to be in form of a pyramid. The good posters ranked while the majority at the bottom of the pyramid are not good posters. Pyramid structure is a functionality of surviving systems, the merit of a thing makes this possible.
5646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what have you learn? what do you need to learn? on: January 26, 2021, 08:45:24 PM
I learn bitcointalk is the greatest crypto forum ever, I learn that it is the first ever also, I learn that Satoshi Nakamoto the found of bitcoin is also the founder of bitcointalk. I learn how foolish I was not to know about how bitcoin is, but this forum makes me to realize bitcoin is just a unique asset on its own, I learnt how to play around with scammers with any of them to scm me because I know their trucks which can not lead to any thing. I learn about how to communicate with people, I learn and I want to contribute. This forum is a learn process on its own, we will continue learning, be able to make use of bitcoin, and know more about life.
5647  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Driving to the moon? HODLer installs portable mining rig in BMW on: January 26, 2021, 08:22:37 PM
Nothing is new here, there’s a news in 2017 that a miner used his Tesla Model S to mine Bitcoin.
I mean he used the electricity aspects of his car, not the computation power from that Tesla.
https://interestingengineering.com/this-tesla-owner-built-a-bitcoin-mining-rig-in-model-s-trunk
I am more interested in how green energy policy will affect crypto mining.
With the picture I saw from the link you provided, this should not be advisable because it looks absurd, miners like GPU do hot to the extent it has set some mining farms ablazed. it will be dangerous to use car to mine, I mean having the mining rigs inside car. It can be that the battery can power it like it is said in the OP board but what about the hit, it is good for us to not risk what we know can be dangerous. Mining should be done in the official way, to use ASIC is the best, only ASIC can mine bitcoin now, GPU will only lead to loss and not advisable.
5648  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Alert: stay away from new type of bitcoin scam on: January 26, 2021, 08:17:44 PM
That is why we need forum like this, many people are scammed because they are ignorant of such scam. Like a day a guy added me and chatted with me on telegram, we chatted and he is a stranger, he later realized he is just wasting his time and chatted me no more. Also was another one also on telegram, that was the first airdrop I participated, I was told to pay vip fee, how would I, but many people will pay that fee and will be scammed.

Some people do not maintain privacy online, not knowing scammers are looking for who to defraud, when they are likely to be a zperfect victim and be scammed. There are also many free airdrops all in the name to earn which most are leading to phishing scam. We need to have more knowledge daily to be able to avoid all these scammers.
5649  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any way to secure forum account? on: January 26, 2021, 02:39:46 AM
You understood the private key, public address and sign message totally inaccurate.
I do not see your corrections as corrections, except the last mistake that I wanted to write all but changed to altcoins which I will still discuss below. You should read carefully before making comment, private key is needed to sign a message, but it will not be included while signing the message it works underneath, only what are included is the address and the message you want to sign.

In order to sign a bitcoin message, you need to have a private key for a public address from which you want to sign a message. In a reverse  way, the sign message is to show you are the owner of that address by owning its private key.
Check what I posted.

Yes that is true that private key is needed to sign a message

It will require you to enter a password of your wallet. This step is mandatory if you encrypted your wallet. It is a prevention to not allow hacker to be freely sign any message when he find your bitcoin wallet file.
Not password but passphrase, know that passwords are not passphrase. It is not also an encryption but a seed extension.

Not all wallets sign a message, not all private keys wallets also sign a message, there are few ones that do it, like electrum and coinomi.
It is not correct (but I don't use Coinomi so I don't know about the wallet). To sign a message, you need a wallet software that support the sign/ verify message feature. The incorrectness is from not all private keys wallets also sign a message, you can import that private key to other wallet softwares to sign a message.
Try to correct when appropriate, what are you talking about? You mean all private key wallet sign a message? What about the private key wallets that do not have the software to sign a message like atomic wallet and many other wallets, only few private key wallets sign a message. Do not correct what is right.

Say not all private key can sign a message, it is totally not correct.
Can atomic wallet sign a message, is it not a private key wallet, you need to understand about wallet before commenting about them because you are absolutely wrong and saying someone is wrong.

All wallets signing a message are altcoins private key wallets while not all private key wallets can sign a message, only few ones do it.
Why altcoins?
Corrected, typo error.

All wallets signing a message are altcoins all private key wallets while not all private key wallets can sign a message, only few ones do it.
5650  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any way to secure forum account? on: January 25, 2021, 07:09:07 PM

And yes I'm still new to this signed message thing, and i got a question, does signing a message with said address need the private key?
Of course, you need your private key to access your old wallet for sign message. But if you've never posted that address or PM sent that address to someone in the past, I think maybe your request will be rejected. So the bottom line is that any bitcoin address you have used in the past on forum will serve to prove you are the real owner.
Yes that is true that private key is needed to sign a message, but Redoubt should know that the private key is not included while signing, what that are included are just 1. The bitcoin address for signing the message 2. The message that will be signed, after these has been filled, the user can click on sign message, the message will be signed. Not all wallets sign a message, not all private keys wallets also sign a message, there are few ones that do it, like electrum and coinomi. All wallets signing a message are all altcoins private key wallets while not all private key wallets can sign a message, only few ones do.
5651  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I want to increase my bitcoin spending privacy on: January 25, 2021, 03:38:05 PM
...
About coin control, thanks for sharing that, this is the first time I am hearing that. I will check my electrum wallet to see how it works.

P.S. Even if hackers can track your funds, they can't do anything with it anyway; unless they have control over your wallet's private keys. Heck, you can track Binance's[1] cold wallet that contains 90,000+ BTC. But you can't do anything since you don't have the private keys anyway.
There was a image I saw recently on this forum, that makes me want to have privacy because mistakes can happen, I want privacy in a way my bitcoin will be difficult to tracked to many addresses whereas I am using many addresses, because a single leak can be a problem when the blockchain explorer is available to all. You are very correct and I gained from your comment.

It's really costly to use a mixer, you should be ready to spend for the fee if you want to increase your privacy.
Check above, nobody disputed chipmixer to be free but you can pay what you like. Try to use chipmixer as I have been advised if you are using paying ones.
5652  Other / Beginners & Help / I want to increase my bitcoin spending privacy on: January 25, 2021, 03:03:13 PM
I have been thinking of ways to improve my bitcoin spending privacy, I have known little about transaction output that are not spent but back to my wallet change address, I am thinking if this can be tracked on blockchain explorer, it will be very easy for hackers tracking my wallet to easily know many of my bitcoin address. I have been thinking of using mixers, but I do not know about their fee, I do not want to pay much for fee, I also know about wasabi wallet but I need enlightenment about the fee too, I am even thinking to make use of anonymous coins like dash, zcash or monero but the fee to convert to them and from them back to bitcoin are high for me. How can I increase my bitcoin spending privacy and yet using low fee payment.
5653  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Buy from Coinbase on: January 25, 2021, 02:54:29 PM
You can use coinbase to buy bitcoin, the address which you buy the bitcoin will be given by coinbase and you will be able to access it and use the address to transfer all the bitcoin from coinbase to your hardware wallet. You can not use ledger wallet address to buy from coinbase, you will use coinbase given bitcoin address, but after you make the purchase, then send the bitcoin to your hardware wallet.
5654  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin anonymous? on: January 25, 2021, 02:46:16 PM
Well explained .Btc is not an anonymous coin cause we can easily track the transaction by blockchain .I think we can track address to address and on this way it could not be a anonymous coin .However we can actually not track the real person who are using the wallet but can track all the transaction .
Exactly my point, bitcoin can be tracked on the blockchain but the identity of the owner will be difficult to trace, that is why some people call it pseudonymous. About transactions there are ways addresses will not be linked to other same wallet addresses depending on how you spend your transaction output which can be linked to many of your addresses.

bitcoin is currently anonymous. even someone who lost bitcoin will not be able to find it again because it is difficult to trace the wallet and trace who that person is. maybe you mean the determination of identity for bitcoin owners to track?
but in my opinion it will not be easy to implement even though it is good for the security of bitcoin owners
Try to read people's comment before posting, check what I also post above and the quote, bitcoin is not anonymou but pseudonymous. People that lost bitcoin and not able to gain access to it is because brute forcing private key or seed phraseis is not possible, because these people lost their wallets files backup, lost access to private key or seed phrase can lead to such, this has no relation to bitcoin pseudonymity.
5655  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos please sMerit 1:1 on: January 24, 2021, 04:30:53 PM
Lol.  I don't think OP does see the problem with that or the genius in the merit system setup that included merit decay as it's distributed.  If there was a ratio of 1:1, the merit system would be essentially useless.

If something on this forum can be abused, someone's going to figure out a way to abuse it and others will follow.  And with this suggestion, it'd take about a millisecond for account farming to begin again and merit abuse would take just a little less time.  Sorry OP, not gonna happen.
I am not the real person that created the topic, you can check the real topic here below

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5311958.0

The topic was locked, I created mine quoting him how merit 1:1 smerit system can not work, that he should unlock the thread so that I can lock mine to hear people opinion about it and how he can report any unmerited posts to " Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source" created by LoyceV.

And you can check my second post below about how I commented that it can lead to account farming, I can not bring up this, I can rather bring up merit 4:1 smerit but the current one we are using is working perfectly and we should still stick to it.
5656  Economy / Services / Re: Avatar + personal message for rent on: January 24, 2021, 01:47:48 PM
exstasie is a DT2 member with good rank if bpip profile is checked, I also see good members like LoyceV, o_e_l_e_o, LFC_Bitcoin, The Pharmacist, fillippone, suchmoon and vapourminer to give him most merits, these are one of the best members on this forum, to merit exstasie means he his very good when it comes to posting quality posts, that is why I can see him in the best campaign, this offer will just be productive to the hirer.
5657  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: which one will you choose? on: January 24, 2021, 01:26:06 PM
now Polkadot is in the top 5 on coinmarketcap,
Polkadot has been in the first 4 since ripple has dropped in value due to SEC lawsuit. While the first three are bitcoin, ether and tether.

With what I am thinking about the next 7 days, hopefully there can be bullback, this are not time to invest.
5658  Other / Meta / Re: @theymos please sMerit 1:1 on: January 24, 2021, 01:15:43 PM
Great idea !
With a ratio of 1:1, user A can give 1 merit to user B. Then user B will give 1 merit to user A. Then user A... Ding Legendary ! Effort: 0.
Don't you see the problem with this idea ?
That means this will only encourage account farming, it will be very easy to farm accounts as the merit system will become valueless if the merit ratio smerit becomes 1:1. theymos can not allow this, it is even what would have been thought about before the merit system began in 2018. It will just be like no merit even needed as the merit system will no more have value.
5659  Other / Meta / @theymos please sMerit 1:1 on: January 24, 2021, 10:55:49 AM
Question from YOSHIE
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5311958.0

Quote
Plea for sMerit.
@theymos please, change the sMerit system for me 1:1.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit

So far I have received sMerit 2:1, it feels too little and too long to wait and it is given to those who have the right to receive it.

Current: income: 2:1: Secrete.
Made 1:1.

For example a topic worth giving.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5311841.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5311156.0
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5308019.0

Thanks.
PM sent.

You can make use of Report unmerited good posts to Merit Source to report any good post you think deserves merit. I have seen many posts reported before and awarded merits to the posts that deserve it. Also I have seen some members that were ranked up before by reporting such good users there but not frequent compared to reporting posts and meriting the post.

If you have a local board, only what you people and not you alone can ask theymos is to give you merit source or more merit source to be able to circulate merit to your quality posts if truly the posts are quality, but if not negative tag will be fine. Or asking theymos to increase merit source generally, you can even apply for merit source.

You can unlock your topic and I will lock this because theymus can not just merit you because you want merit 1:1 smerit, theymos will like the hear other members opinion but with how good merit system is now, I think your idea will not be welcomed.
5660  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC value sent differs from that in blockchain explorer on: January 24, 2021, 10:04:16 AM
In addition to the posts above: "blockchain explorers" (blockexplorers) can't tell which is the recipient's address(s) from your change address.
It will consider all of the outputs as the sent amount when you explored a TXID instead of an address.
You are correct if sending bitcoin from a wallet and will leave change, the change will be from the transaction output and will be sent back into the address from the wallet which the person use to send the bitcoin, this is what that happens in this case in a way the wallet will use the sender address to automatically send remaining amount to change address of the sender wallet after sending the amount.
