5661  Economy / Economics / Re: Talking about Western society crash and debt and Fed rate hikes and btc on: December 21, 2022, 08:59:22 PM
Interesting topic.

I have some info that most do not know about.

My brother in law suffers from dementia.

He won't get better and eventually will die from the disease.

He is 72 and his body other than his brain is fairly okay.

Thus he could live 5-10 years.

In the USA there is not much health care for people sick like him. But you can buy your own insurance. Which he did.

This industry was in terrible shape on Jan 1 2022. Over 1 trillion in the hole. Of the 14 major companies that sell it all of them were facing bankruptcy.

The bonds were the major way this company made money. bonds paid  next to 1.5%  on Jan 2022

bonds now pay 4%

These companies have been saved from bankruptcy due to the fed's actions .

Look up companies like genworth

https://www.macroaxis.com/invest/ratio/GNW/Probability-Of-Bankruptcy

note assets grew in 2022

                                  2019..........2020................2021...........2022 (projected)
Cash and Equivalents        3.34 B..............2.66 B...........1.57 B...........1.61 B
Total Assets            101.34 B..........105.75 B..........99.17 B........114.09 B

you can see they recovered close to 15 billion this year. 99.17 B is up to 114.09 B

there are more companies that were struggling and they mostly have all done well due to the fed rising rates.

Doge will thrive and BTC will falter.

LN really hurts BTC in the not so distant future.

That is why I mine both DOGE and BTC

I don’t do many signature campaigns. You have done good work at them.
I am hoping they give you a solid heart 💜 and that you stick around for many more years.

My next door neighbor has had a pancreas transplant back in 2012 he is hanging in there for almost 11 years he has had a decent quality of life since it was done.

5664  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Bitmain new S19 pro firmware "enhanced by 13.6%, reaching 25.5J/T!" on: December 21, 2022, 03:56:51 PM

That's a fan simulator, are you planning on removing the 4 fans and just count on the external inline fan to cool the miner? seems like a good idea but the problem with this approach would be the possibility of over-cooling the miner when not needed, if the room temp is low the miner's software will lower the fan speed, you can't do that with an external fan, unless you get a smart fan which you can control with a temp sensor attached to the miner.

yeah it is more for those that may want a super quiet miner in their garage.

Today is pretty cold so stock fans are at 2700 and miner is cool in my garage.

5665  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: December 21, 2022, 02:42:15 PM
Well it was nice while it lasted.

My sympathies to the big player that had 6 coins coming to him.

I am not pulling my 40th off the pool for now. Hoping for good news.

But when that address issue showed up with 6 digits matching it reeked of a key logger hack.

I also know the pool operator could have made an address with first six digits and then claim he was hacked.

Either way it sucks.

To anyone that like a small pool you could try

https://pool.laurentiapool.org/#/

he allows up to 12 miners.

you have to get a password to mine

https://pool.laurentiapool.org/#/miners
https://pool.laurentiapool.org/#/work

I am address 146UJM...gx3 if we hit today I get 2 + coins

this pool was setup by ck for minefarmbuy

https://minefarmbuy.com

@mmpool if you are fixing issues I apologize and will delete info

I am assuming mmpool is dead even though I am still mining there.

Now if mmpool is legit and I hit the block with my s17 I am also assuming the address issue is fixed.

Which would mean most coins would go to the top guy not me in number 4 spot.
We would also know if mmpool is the 'bad' guy  since the coins should go to the correct address. Since if he is honest he fixed the hack. He is freaking out he was hacked and lost a whole block to a scum bag.

5667  Economy / Speculation / Re: How we know btc not going to 100$ ?? on: December 21, 2022, 04:32:40 AM
As I said early it would go to zero far more likely than go to 100.

If the encryption became slovable it would go to zero. Not 100.

Maybe the encryption is  crackable. So I give a shot for zero since it could be crackable.

That means zero is possible. It means zero is far more likely to happen than 100 dollar value.

So I kind of feel this thread is about a really unlikely possibility.

I can honesty state the title attracts me only to complain that the number picked makes no sense.

My opinion is we could drop to 7-9k with the correct real world pressures occuring.

I dont think we bottom out under that.

I think if we hit 100 zero will soon follow as the 100 number is too low to go to if encryption still is not crackable.

Thanks for the information (both you above).  For some reason, that drop down box wasn't populating the other models, just the hydro.   Now it is.

My electric rate doubled in the last year along with btc price going down. So I'm just running one as a space heater for now to offset oil furnace costs.

(Edit) Silly old me.... was clicking the down arrow looking for other models. Nothing populated. Click in the text area and there it was.  Updating now

Thanks again

My 100th model is very quiet running on low.

I wonder if this upgrade will block running other fw again... Someone did 20.9 J/T with Braiins OS+.

I put all the user-submitted BraiinsOS+ performance data on a chart.
This data is from bos_x19_reports.txt file that has been floating around in BraiinsOS Telegram.

Bitmain low power mode isn't any better than Braiins' efficiency performance for similar hash rates.
Still important for folks who don't want to tinker with aftermarket firmware.

.

usually it is no better but for many under warranty they prefer it.

I have one for braiins and one for bitmain.

after comparing I will run some with each.

I have 8 s19's on hand. looking for 25-30 more.

this firmware will save me in the summer.

I will run 4ph in the winter say 38 at  100-110th power =  118kwatts
I will run 3.2ph in the summer say 38 at 80-90th. power =   82kwatts

I may avoid getting liquid cooling.

5673  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is crypto staking? Is staking worth it? on: December 20, 2022, 10:58:49 PM
What is crypto staking and how does it work?

What is staking? Staking is a way to earn rewards via delegating your holdings of coins or tokens. It’s equivalent to storing money in a savings account & earning interest or buying company shares & share dividends.

Not all cryptocurrencies support staking. It only works in cryptocurrencies whose network consensus mechanism is Proof-of-Stake, such as Ethereum (ETH),  Solona (SOL), etc. The network chooses validators to add a new block and legitimate transactions on the chain in exchange for rewards. Whether or not you can become the validator depends on how many coins you stake, how long you have held them, etc.

Unlike Proof-of-Work, you don’t need highly-equipped computer hardware to race to solve a difficult math problem, which is called mining. Investors take part in staking through crypto exchanges, crypto wallets, or staking pools. It costs less energy and the transaction speed is faster.

Is staking worth it?

1. Earn passive income: You earn rewards after you are chosen as the validator to verify the new block and transaction. It’s suitable if you prefer a long-term investment and don’t want to look at the price changes from time to time even at night when you sleep.
2. Sense of satisfaction: You play a role in maintaining and securing the blockchain network.
3. Easy to start: You don't need special hardware equipment.

What are crypto staking risks?

- When you stake, your holdings are locked up for a certain amount of time. You cannot trade or sell them before you unstake your holdings. So it might decrease your profits if the price plummets.
- Depending on how you stake, you might need to entrust your cryptos to exchanges. It might bring security risks.

look below:

It is a security risk to stake coins in an exchange.

the freq is 405 vs 525

fans are lower.

four of these
https://www.ebay.com/itm/203764567923

two of these
https://www.ebay.com/itm/304119146264

my 100th unit does 78th on low and 3000 rpm fans

I have not measured power use but should be under 1800 watts as 21.5 x 78 = 1677 watts

besides any other issue this feature allow me to drop close to 1000 watts per miner which comes in handy in the summer.

Edit now at 80th

So you plan to replace the oem fans with just 1 inline fan?

A legit question.

the answer is I plan to test this to see if it works.

That fan says it can do:

Model........Size.........Frequency...Voltage......Current....Power.........Spe ed.............Noise........Air Flow CFM......Pressure
HF100......4 Inch.......60HZ........110V.........0.55A........60W..........2400r/min........<31dB.......200..................150 Pa
HF150......6 Inch.......60HZ........110V.........0.68A........75W..........2450r/min........<37dB.......395..................300 Pa

HF200.....8 Inch......60HZ.......110V.......1.73A.....190W.......2500r/min......<40dB.........735........380 Pa

as much as 735 cfm.

Now these four fans in place do 225+225 = 450 then the out flow do 225+225 which is 450

but when fans are in series they do not add to 450 + 450= 900 they are more likely to be in the 500-600 cfm when at top speed.

thus this 8 inch blower should be more than good enough set to top speed of 2500 rpm and doing 735cfm

I am hoping to set to 2000 rpm and maybe it works for high hash.

I am hoping to set to 1500 rpm and maybe it works for low hash.

Gosh, that sounds like a threat!
Of course I have nothing against DCA-ing, but how about also chunk buying the bottom?

I combine both.

Weekly dca on Friday and key chucks at low levels.

dca
x ---- Nov   4
x ---- Nov 11
x ---- Nov 18
x ---- Nov 25
x ---- Dec   2
x ---- Dec   9
x ---- Dec  16   that is 7x

and chunks of 4x on
multiple occasions

Nov 8   18.1k
Nov 9   15.7k
Nov 21  15.9k
Dec 17  16.8k
Dec 19  16.4k

 so Chunk buys are 20x

dca is 7x

and mining gear is way more 120x
5677  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: December 20, 2022, 05:21:35 PM
Do we know who actually mined it? I mean we can assume it’s the person throwing monster hash, but it’s possible someone else actually found it, right? Or will that have to wait until the wallet issues are resolved? Pretty decent block reward (0.18BTC, I believe).

I did not mine it as I had stopped mining two days before it was hit. I am mining now and have about 40th pointed.

So I know I did not get the block.

Since the lead miner was doing 150ph it is likely he hit it.

What I fear is that the 'new' address is almost the exact same as the 'real' address.

A strong likely hood of a very clever keystroke hack could have happened.

If it did the thief would simply wait and then one day grab the coins.

Sad as mmpool would likely be dead if it was a clever key logger hack.

I don't think the poll owner robbed the coins.

but that matching first 6 letters is bad. The odds of that happening by chance are very small.

Lets hope he finds out the issue and can fix it.

I was due 0.01 coins which is not much.

I will continue mining with my s17 for the Time being.

Now let's take cardano, it's coins were also created by energy
Wrong; they were created by grift.

Cardano just greedily assigned themselves 100% of all coins and started selling some portion to the gullible.

A major part of being decentralized is to decentralize ownership. Premines run counter to that.

PoS further runs counter to that since it lets everyone just hang on to their share.

So buying Cardano at less that 30 cents, offends your sense of fair play.

But paying $64K to greedy PoW miners causing global energy problems, that is good with you.  Cheesy
Please don't pretend that the entire world knew of btc so they could all start mining at the same time,
if that were true satoshi mining address would not have 1,125,150 bitcoins in it and that is just the one we know of.
Like he did not have others, where he profited greatly.  Roll Eyes

Satoshi had at least 22000 bitcoin addresses because he used to generate a new address for each mining reward in order to keep his anonymity.

I have seen plenty of new PoW coins created in 2012, and the one thing I noticed is that none had a fair distribution.
Look at all of the people now, they can't even afford to mine btc , so spare me your moral outrage, you have no high ground to stand on.
More like you are standing in quicksand.

At least with a premine, they are informing you up front.
Another thing I noticed, the majority of those 2012 PoW coins died.
So PoW is not the savior you think it is.

Normal people can afford to stake and participate in a PoS network,
Normal people can't afford to lose money mining in a PoW network.

Shock horror: Bitcoin’s wealth distribution is outrageously uneven.
The top 2.8 percent of wallet addresses control 95 percent of the supply of bitcoin
Thinking PoW promoted fair distribution of coins, is just pure bullshit.

Actually Doge has no 1/2ings and has a slow steady descending rate of inflation and has the best POW solution to be in alignment with long term development of Fusion power.

year 1 x coins
year 2 2x coins 100% inflation
...
year 10 10x coins
year 11 11x coins 10% inflation
...
year 20 20x coins
year 21 21x coins 5% inflation
...
year 50 50x coins
year 51 51x coins 2% inflation
...
year 100 100x coins
year 101 101x coins 1% inflation

Your entire argument is pinned on shrinkage.

you are much like the marvel villain Thanos lets ½ the universes entire population to save resources

and the moron had a  perfect  solution all he need to did is copy antman and shrink all the universe people 1/10 size far bette method with no killing.

We now have our antman moment  in that fusion works and you are running around and saying lets kill off pow.

meanwhile all the power pow mining uses is under the city of Tehran power use.

check it out.  So lets kill off POW which uses less power than Tehran does is a typical Thanos move over kill when better solutions are already available.

How about Christmas lighting we should ban that right.

while we are at it lets ban every movie theater that is not 80% filled.

I could go on an on and on.

Lets throttle every ac to 78f. you do not need to be cooler than that. BTW this alone fixes the power used by POW

Oh I know ban fucking for 2 years.  Just blow jobs and muff diving  no babies born for 2 years saves tons of power.

Should I go on.

SO Doge fixes your unfair distribution issues

and I have endless power saving that are better than pow getting killed off.
