I would be careful. I am not sure how reliable Coins.ph is as a service, but it seems that the majority in the Philippines are using it. Since you are paying bills with it, there is probably a requirement to undergo KYC. They store that data somewhere. If the local tax office decides to pressure Coins.ph to share with them the data of those who use crypto on their site, Coins.ph will have to comply. The government wants their share of the spoils and if the law is on their side, they will find a way to get it.

That's only the second crypto-related business that has confirmed that user data from their customers has been hacked. I think that it was initially reported by MailChimp that their investigation has discovered that data from over 100 different crypto companies has been illegally obtained by that fraudster/insider. Whoever has gotten access to the database isn't in a hurry and is taking his/her time to decide how to proceed.

If partially and indirectly living on BTCitcoin counts, then I did it back in 2019 [for 3 months]... My plan was to live only on BTCitcoin, but it took me less than a day to realize it's not going to happen!
Damn it. I thought we found the first person who managed to do it based on your first sentence, but then everything changed with the second and so on.

FYI: Based on my findings [at the time], I couldn't rely on any of the crypto debit cards!
In what way couldn't you rely on them? Didn't they support your country or was your gut feeling telling you not to trust them?

<Snip>
Nice explanations, thanks for that. Judging by the Coins.ph site that keeps popping up in your reply, I can safely assume you are from the Philippines. What about taxes? Each of those transactions and conversions from crypto to fiat would be creating taxable events. What does the law in the Philippines say about that?
5684  Economy / Gambling / Re: Information of Crypto Casinos License and KYC requirements on: April 11, 2022, 04:01:33 PM
A 15-17 years old is mature enough to manage their funds. They also knows how to take the risk with their funds. So, there won't be any difference between a 18 or above years old and 15 to 17 years old people betting pattern.
Exactly my point. You can't come to such conclusions based on the way someone wagers there money. Some gamblers have good risk management, others have poor. Some play with 5-10% of their total bag per hand, others wager all at once. The point is, the casino can't suspect that the gamblers who take greater risks are underaged.

Quoting this to give an example here. User ‘bambolina’ has created a scam accusation against ‘LTC Casino’ one month ago (See here).
I am familiar with the case. I came across it while browsing the Scam Accusation board. The casino believes the player in question has used some automated or illegal software. According to them, the player has played 16 hours straight with no pauses between the spins. They are saying that there wasn't even 1 second difference between two rounds. The player played the same slot all the time and managed to win 3 jackpots. Or was it 2? I forgot. All that triggered their alarms.

I communicated with both the player and LTC Casino trying to get them to release the data and evidence they have against the player. No luck so far. They have promised to release the data once the investigation has been concluded. According to their TOS, they have the right to take up to 3 months for that.

I am not sure what to think. I don't like the casino's silence, but I also find it very difficult to talk with the player and OP of that thread. He keeps stating that the evidence shows he did nothing wrong. But there is no evidence. LTC Casino has not released any data and we don't know what Wazdan (the game provider has sent them). Wazdan's team claims they sent everything they needed. LTC Casino says that's not true. Neither party is releasing information about what was sent or received. Obviously, the player believes Wazdan, because that suits him. I can't side with the player not having seen the data that was never released. But the user bambolina doesn't understand that and believes I have sided with the casino. We also don't know what the Casino Guru rep has received from both parties and what records they have looked at.

LTC Casino claims to have asked Wazdan for additional information that they haven't provided. I PMed the casino's forum rep and asked them to post proof of this request. So far they haven't done that. LTC Casino is doing this wrongly if you ask me. But, is that enough to prove they are lying? I don't think it is. If the player played and won the money fairly, I understand his anger. But I have a feeling this will take a long time to settle.

There you go, your wish came true. The Bitcoin holders were extremely worried that you would leave and never be seen again. As a result, Bitcoin is now moving and we have gone from $42/43k to below $41k as we speak. I guess your importance to the forum and the Bitcoin ecosystem is huge. Grin
5686  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever tried to live only on Bitcoin? on: April 11, 2022, 03:23:58 PM
In fact, my long-term goal is to live solely from the crypto, but that will not happen until the crypto grows even higher in value and I gain enough funds to achieve financial freedom.
Only then will I be able to afford to live only on bitcoin but it will be based on bitcoin savings and not bitcoin salaries like the man in your example.
So far I've been buying some technical stuff with bitcoin but mostly I don't spend my crypto and I'm waiting for a certain price level which will be my exit strategy from crypto.
Maybe I am wrong, but it seems to be like the first part of your reply contradicts the second part. You would like to live solely from crypto, but you are waiting for the value to reach a certain target, so that you can sell. Looks more like you are looking to take your profits and than live from the fiat you get when you empty your crypto bags. That's the most common way.

I just compared the prices with skyscanner (which I usually use when buying airline tickets) and Travala is on average 10% more expensive.
That's true. I used it a time when I made some good profits, so I didn't pay that much attention.
5687  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you share your key to your family? on: April 11, 2022, 02:04:57 PM
Sometimes it's enough to leave enlightening information, in a place where we know that our family/friends will look when they are packing up after a very serious accident.
If your family is not into crypto and Bitcoin and doesn't understand what a recovery phrase is, they need to be made aware of the importance and dangers of a recovery phrase. You wouldn't want your child or wife make a photo of the seed and place it on Facebook asking their friends does anyone know what this is!?

But I have written in my dairy and Clouds for backup and also if any time my family needs my money or crypto and if I’m not able this time so for those time, I have write some instructions to know my family I have crypto and how to they access my account and they receive my crypto.

What do you think is it good?
It depends. If all the information is written in your diary, are you sure they will find it? Do they know that they should be looking for the keys somewhere in the diary? If not, they might never read it because it's a rather personal thing.
5688  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: [VELIKA LISTA] Hardverski novčanici (80+) on: April 11, 2022, 01:57:55 PM
5689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Have you ever tried to live only on Bitcoin? on: April 11, 2022, 01:46:20 PM
What about you, have you tried living on bitcoin?
I have financed parts of my holidays with Bitcoin. Sites like Travala accept crypto for hotels and airline tickets. They even accept LN payments. There is also a great resource on the forum that has a list of airline companies that accept Bitcoin > Overview of all airline & flight ticket sites that accept bitcoin. It hasn't been updated since 2019, but it's still a good reference point.

Except the occasional purchase here and there, I haven't tried living on it exclusively. I don't own a crypto debit card, which adds additional limitations to where I can spend my BTC. And like you said, Croatia and the Balkans aren't really the places for that. I have had more luck when I am in Germany, but lately I find it much easier to convert whatever I plan to spend to fiat and just use that.
5690  Other / Beginners & Help / Have you ever tried to live only on Bitcoin? on: April 10, 2022, 06:59:01 PM
People use Bitcoin in various ways. For some, it’s a long-term investment. Others use it for trading to ultimately increase their fiat bags. Using crypto as a payment method to purchase goods and services is also popular, or it can be an instrument that protects you against inflation.

But, it’s very rare to come across people who have integrated Bitcoin into their daily lives in such a way that they don’t use fiat at all. It’s not that easy to do.

I accidentally came across a YouTube video of a guy from Canada who claims to live on Bitcoin. So he decided to share his experience. If you are interested to hear what he has to say, this is the link: I Live On Bitcoin! Here's How You Can Too…

It’s a rather long video that lasts over 44 minutes, so I will try to sum up some of the most interesting points:

  • Benjamin has lived on Bitcoin since September 2020.
  • He lives in Canada, where he spends most of his coins.
  • Benjamin is a Youtuber who gets paid exclusively in Bitcoin, no fiat.
  • He claims that he values his privacy and uses mixing services and CoinJoins to mask the origin of his funds.
  • Benjamin uses a Canadian online service called Bylls, which allows customers to pay utility bills with crypto.
  • He does his daily shopping by purchasing gift cards from Bitrefill.
  • When he needs USD, he deposits his Bitcoin as collateral and takes out a loan in fiat.

If you want to know more, you will have to watch the entire video. It’s difficult to explain everything in one post.

This YouTuber lives in Canada, a country in the West. So, naturally, it’s easier to do it there than in many poorer regions of the world. But it’s still an intriguing and courageous live choice. If all of it is true, of course.

With this thread, I would like to know how many users of Bitcointalk have tried something similar, or are maybe living only on crypto as we speak? Has anyone tried it for a day, a week, or just a few hours?

Please share your experience, and if possible, include the names and locations of shops, websites, and services that made your BTC spending easier and more comfortable. How easy or hard is it to live only on Bitcoin in your city/country?

If you are concerned about your anonymity, you don’t have to mention any names if you believe someone could use that info against you.
5691  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to leave btc on: April 10, 2022, 06:02:04 PM
Less volatility is a good thing. One of the reasons some big investors don't like Bitcoin and crypto is exactly those price swings you seem to be addicted to. It's better to take a 5% profit after X number of days/weeks/months with less risk than trading an extremely volatile asset that can make you 50% higher gains, but you can also lose all your money due to its unpredictable nature.

Very often it's just a matter of being at the right place and at the right time. But if you are not around that often and not browsing the correct boards where you can share your knowledge and help others, someone else will take your place. If you open any thread where a user is asking for help and advice on how to deal with a problem, it's the first couple of posts that fully answer the problem or provide proper guidance that will get most of the merits. As the discussion goes on, those repeating what was already said previously stand very little chance to get merited.
5693  Economy / Gambling / Re: Information of Crypto Casinos License and KYC requirements on: April 10, 2022, 05:39:15 PM
We wish to clarify that we do not require any personal documents at sign up, deposit or withdrawal when playing with us, however as per usual T&C we may require some personal information in cases of suspected underage gambling or other breach of our Terms and Conditions.
Based on this statement, they may block the funds/withdrawal of their users by addressing that the user is underage or by saying that the user has breached their terms. And KYC will be asked in that case. So, advertising with ‘no KYC’ is really misleading.
To be clear, as long as you are "successfully" losing your money, you will not be suspected of being underaged or in breach of the casinos' terms and conditions. Such statements as the above by the Crashino forum representative are an insult to logic and intelligence. I would really like to know what systems and algorithms they have in place to look at a player's gambling history and patterns and determine that they are possibly dealing with an underaged player? Are there certain bets that a 17-year old would place but an 19-year old never would because he is of legal age? Nonsense.
5694  Other / Meta / Re: How I can get high rank in BitcoinTalk ? on: April 10, 2022, 08:53:24 AM
Judging by the way you write and that most of your posts are one-liners, I would say you are never going to rank up above Jr. Member or Member (max) unless you change drastically. Whatever marketing services you are offering, you don't need a high rank. If you want to get other people to trade with you, you need a good service and affordable prices. You need to gain the communities' trust, but it doesn't look good for you.

High ranks are for those users who find time to contribute to the forum in any way they can be useful. You don't do that.
5695  Other / Meta / Re: The 200 with most earned merit. on: April 10, 2022, 08:19:43 AM
I didn't know where I am ranked in the overall merit leaderboard, so I went to check. Turns out that I am in a higher position than I thought. But there are plenty of quality posters above me and most of them are active on a daily basis. They are also collecting merits regularly. That makes it difficult to advance. Even if I got 50 merits right now, that would mean nothing and I wouldn't move up on the ladder. In your particular case, adding 50 merits to your count would take you up like 15 places in the overall leaderboard.

Look at it like you look at sports. You have just been promoted to the highest division. It's no longer easy to beat and defeat your opponents as it was last year because those above you know what they are doing.

But we do not know what made the op respond to such a message that acted like op was in communication with him by saying he has replied to op when op did not even send out any message.
Curiosity. He wanted to see what the sender replied to. Maybe he thought it's a post in one of his threads or something that concerns him personally. I get such messages From Bitcointalk users at times asking me what I think about this or that or they ask for advice. Of course, I don't click on anything I am not sure of, especially not any outside links.
5697  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor Model One wallet and thoughts on: April 10, 2022, 07:19:32 AM
One difference between a Trezor and a Ledger is that all 3 of the currently sold Ledger hardware wallets support the same coins. Actually, the Nano S+ is currently experiencing bugs where there is a lack of support for several altcoins. The developers hurried with the release without checking everything properly. With the 2 Trezor models that is not the case. Because of that, you will have to check if the assets you plan to store on your Trezor One are even supported.

Trezors don't have secure elements, and to increase your security you really should use a strong passphrase.
I like Trezor even if I don't own one personally. What I don't like about the Model One is that the seed words are entered into a software and not on the device itself. With Model T, they changed this and you enter the words into the hardware wallet only. Everything else has already been covered by other users.
5698  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Keeping coins on Wallets on: April 10, 2022, 06:52:31 AM
If you want to hold your coins safely use a hardware wallet but they do not have a staking feature.
Ledger offers staking possibilities for several POS coins in Ledger Live. OP can take a look at https://www.ledger.com/staking if he is interested. I am not sure if Trezor provides similar features because I don't remember anyone ever writing about it.

Ledger has also partnered with several 3rd parties who offer their services through Ledger Live and the Discover tab. Among those offers, you can also find staking possibilities. But neither Ledger nor the end-user remains in control of the coins. The 3rd party apps are.
5699  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Invalid recovery phrase on: April 09, 2022, 08:42:33 PM
When you say that you found 1 address or 4 addresses (in your older post), what does that even mean? Found them where, with what?
Since your Nano HW is broken, what software are you using in an attempt to recover your wallet?

Let's get back to the seed word with a typo. Is the whole word typed incorrectly (as in you can't figure out a single letter and what is written), or is one character wrong? Are there some letters of that word that you are 100% certain off and that you can use to figure out the missing character/characters based on those that you know?
5700  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Keeping coins on Wallets on: April 09, 2022, 08:24:23 PM
where is recommended to keep coins safe and get some incomes/profits from them?
You are probably talking about staking or using DeFi lending and borrowing platforms. You should know that such platforms are prone to different accidents. Hacking, bugs & vulnerabilities, exit scams/rug pulls, etc. Whatever the case, it's the end user (like yourself) that ends up losing money. A much better option is to purchase Bitcoin whenever you can and keep it in a good non-custodial and open-source wallet. If you don't make mistakes with the handling and securing of your keys, a 3rd party can't become the reason why you lost access to your coins.

Exchange servers or on cold/warm wallets?
Never on exchanges. Always in wallets whose keys you control and only you.

if wallets which one is trustworthy Atomic wallet, Exodus or..?
Neither of them. Atomic Wallet has a bad history of selective scamming. Exodus doesn't from what I am aware of, but hosseinimr93 already explained its shortcomings.

and which Exchange server is your preferred? Kucoin or Binance?
If you don't want to use decentralized exchanges like Bisq and you insist on a centralized one, take a look at FTX. It's got low and even free withdrawals.
