5681  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Vod] I need an explanation from him on: March 22, 2015, 06:11:42 AM
I don't see where the problem is. Microsoft does little to nothing for keys distributed from unauthorised resellers or even illegally. They never de-activate keys. Big part of their profits come from software licencing to businesses. I've installed cracked versions of windows seven on all my family's computers and they've had no problems what so ever. Cracked versions of windows receive free updates in the same way that a copy purchased from an authorised reseller would do. That's how it worked from the time windows had online updates and that how it's going to be for windows 10.

Piracy might be immoral but it's not prosecuted, although illegal (at least that's what's like in most of the world). The receiving party is almost never on the wrong side of the law. Microsoft also doesn't go after pirates and people that distribute their software products without authorisation. At least not for those that do it in a small scale. So Vod, my suggestion is that you should tone it down a little bit. You're not Microsoft's guard dog are you? If such posts are allowed don't make people that post em have a bad time.

Why you stupid and would do not read the posts in this thread: [Vod] I need an explanation from him

Alright, relax. I'm just getting my thoughts out here while trying to help. Maybe Vod will reconsider if he hears the opinion of some other forum members as well.

5682  Other / Politics & Society / "I choose to be... FAT" on: March 22, 2015, 06:01:30 AM

A video produced by BuzzFeed. Performed by spoken word artist Caroline Rothstein.

My thoughts on it:

Isn't it sickening how an unhealthy lifestyle is promoted in such a way? Why should people avoid eating healthily? Why should people feel no guilt what so ever for something that it's entirely their fault for not changing. Body weight, is something entirely manageable and there are only rare exceptions. It's different from gender, sexual orientation or even race. I can't figure out why some people try to convince everyone that "feeling comfortable with your body" should apply in all cases. Acting like obesity isn't a problem, encouraging people to embrace it and do nothing about it rather than just avoid unhealthy eating and lack of exercise. I find such campaigns truly irresponsible.

With all those UI changes I can't find how to change my pin... Any advice?

It's in settings. There's an option called "change old pin"

RIGHT! Just found it. It's a nice design and there are a lot of improvements in the website but it took me some time to get used to it. I also found out that I was loosing money because of UMISOO's fees for quite some time but I was still in profit when I cashed out.  Wink
5685  Economy / Speculation / Re: drawing charts on: March 21, 2015, 11:31:33 PM
Tradingview is indeed nice, thing is that you have to pay to access some basic features. OKcoin also has some nice charts that you can use some of their tools on.

Here's a link to their charts

5686  Economy / Securities / Re: THE AMHASH INCIDENT IN CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, IN SUMMARY... on: March 21, 2015, 11:02:24 PM
This is more of a scammy market exit rather than a long scam. AM has been working fine for a decent amount of time. But it's not surprising that a bitcoin venture scammed people somewhere along the way.

Completely agree with that AM might not be the scam all the way, but AMHash was definitely it.. They did some things right that tricked a lot of people into thinking they were legit, the most funny part is that there are still some people who, it seems, genuinely believe their shit exit story  Grin reminds me of those fanboys on hashtalk...

Now that you mention it, GAW really shares similarities with AM. They could be a low effort copy of what AM did. Maybe even they inspired eachother.
5687  Other / Meta / Re: Ban removal request/appeal on: March 21, 2015, 10:44:16 PM
A 14-day ban isn't that bad. I've seen worse. Take it as a warning and don't do anything over the top again. Mods might not take kindly on you once you've been given a second chance. We've seen hash perma bans in the past.

They're a HYIP.  Similar to a ponzi. Collapse is inevitable. Stay away at all costs.
5689  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 21, 2015, 07:50:41 PM
I'd also prefer monthly payouts with more confident payments. Not exploitable, less tiring for the campaign manager and better advertising afterall.
5690  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do whales harm themselves with the dumps? on: March 21, 2015, 07:28:31 PM
For all of us holders and non-holders, an organic rise in the price would be beneficial. A steady rise will only bring in new holders and users. However these pumps and dumps really delay a slow rise and they put people off adoption.

Would is not benefit the whales more just to hold rather than keep putting people off with their dumps?
They usually know what they are doing, otherwise they all would end up broke. They buy tons of BTC slowly when the price seems dead and dump later.
To stop this there is only one way: mass adoption.
All big investors prefer to diversify their assets in order to hedge some of the risk. Big Bitcoin traders are most likely keeping a small portion of their funds with Bitcoin. Yet that's enough for the to manipulate the market.

5692  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: freebitco.in - is it even worth it? on: March 21, 2015, 03:23:49 PM
some users claimed that they was making 0.07 a day with this faucet using a bot, so i think it's worth it if you know what you are doing

The bitcoin generator bot? I'm pretty sure it "collapsed". Such bots are taking advantage of faucets in an exploitative way.

5694  Other / Meta / A place to dispute and settle cases about various matters on: March 21, 2015, 02:24:24 AM
We already have a scam accusation board, why not a board that would act as a community court? Such posts are created in various boards, why not contain them in one?

Also given that the trust system is not moderated and there's no intention to moderate it, I think that it would be fitting for appeals to be posted there. Surely this way people would feel more comfortable to publicly complain if they feel like a trust rating given by a trusted member is a bit too harsh or doesn't contain a reference that proves the claims.
5695  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BTER.com hacked| 7170 BTC stolen |DON'T KEEP YOUR MONEY ON AN EXCHANGE| REOPENED on: March 21, 2015, 02:06:09 AM
BTER's SSL cert has expired..  very professional.  Roll Eyes

Saw that too. Had to chuckle. How does this even happen?

I'm just speculating but they could have bought it from a non-authorized vendor for a fraction of what it's normally sold. Those vendors don't stay around for too long.
5696  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do whales harm themselves with the dumps? on: March 21, 2015, 02:01:05 AM
http://orderbook.info/ is a great example of why bitcoin sell or buy walls don't really mean all that much.

Orders that would be normal if we were talking about another market are huge for bitcoin. Here's an example: The slaying of bearwhale. An investor puts a large order well below market rates and the market takes about six hours to chunk through it.

Now back to orderbook.info. Do you see how the orders on top rarely exceed the size of $1000? That still happens while we get a trade volume close to $20m each day. If you're looking to find support levels by looking at a bitcoin order book you're a fool. It's so easy to cancel an order in bitcoin exchanges that there's not even a point to base your predictions on order books.

Despite al that, some investors willing to diversify their assets and even take risks put money in bitcoin. They most likely look for quick returns but also don't mind to take loss since they have millions on their hands. Given that manipulating a market of this size and nature by creating fake demand is easy, the come in and out quickly.

Put simply, whales that deal with bitcoin don't care about hurting themselves (especially for the extremely short term), they care about manipulating the market.
5697  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: freebitco.in - is it even worth it? on: March 21, 2015, 01:45:06 AM
So I take it nobody has ever hit the 10000?

Even if they did, is there any way for the website to prove it? Most likely nobody has hit it, it's a faucet after all. There's no need for them to be completely fair since all people want from them is to earn small amounts of bitcoin.
5698  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [BIT-X] Signature Campaign - Discussion on: March 21, 2015, 01:40:13 AM
I won't mind if you lower the rates if you can do automatic withdrawals. That would be pretty cool considering I can withdraw any time I want. You should include a high fee for doing this because it's tedious work to do.

Well since posters also go through manual checking, I don't think this would be easy. Doing this once a month definitely sounds easier for the person that manages the campaign. Withdrawing at any time could be exploitable if it didn't involve any manual checking. If it did however, it would be very tiresome as you pointed out.
5699  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A Threat to Bitcoin? Facebook Rolls Out P2P Payments on Messenger on: March 21, 2015, 01:27:27 AM
Unlikely, if it works only on Facebook-owned properties. At most it would be used for "tips" between regular Facebook junkies and who would think of using Facebook when you have ChangeTip.

Well, while that's true it wouldn't be surprising to see this service receiving millions of users throughout the states. It's most likely going to be people that don't know any better.
5700  Economy / Economics / Re: Is deflation truly that bad for an economy? on: March 21, 2015, 12:25:34 AM
The return to gold standard is propaganda. According to the laws of economics, the amount of banknotes in circulation, must correspond to the quantity of goods and services in the market. So, deflation and inflation are always bad for an economy.

Germany, one of the biggest and supposedly stable economies in Europe has one of the biggest gold reserves in the world. This happens while they're part of a monetary union. They're not the only ones that control the rate of money printing within this union.

China has also increased the rates it imports gold. While I agree with you that it's unlikely for a gold standard to return, gold is still held as a reserve globally.
