5701  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Bitcoin Technology. on: July 18, 2020, 03:03:33 AM
In your own opinion, what will be the impact of this revolution to ;
1.The governments.
2.To business.
3.To Individuals.
4.To World bodies such as IMF, UN, WTO etc

There would be a significant degree of devolution. This is basically what decentralization really means insofar as the governments and world bodies are concerned. This could be equated to more freedom at the bottom part of society or of the ordinary people.

But I highly doubt centralization will be totally erased. I cannot imagine a country without a central authority. Any state without such uniting authority or set of laws would probably degrade into anarchy or feudalism at best. Somehow a sovereign country will have to have certain regulating powers over businesses and individuals.
5702  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Plss help need to understand the blockchain transaction. on: July 17, 2020, 03:08:58 AM
I'm not sure I understand the problem... Did you make a withdrawal from a cloud mining site, but you can't see the funds in your wallet?

I think OP is trying to withdraw what he/she earned from a cloud mining site. In order to do that, he/she needs to pay a certain fee. OP has already made the payment and is sure that the transaction has been confirmed. However, his/her earning hasn't been sent to him/her yet. The question now is, what is he/she going to do next?

So I guess this is a waiting game. But if it takes long enough, OP must try to contact the support of the cloud mining site.

But, as mk4 hinted above, there is high probability that the cloud mining site OP refers to is a scam. And that withdrawal fee that he/she sent is now in the wrong hands.
5703  Economy / Economics / Re: Can decentralization lead the next phase of the economy? on: July 16, 2020, 03:39:59 PM
Decentralization is desirable. But I guess it cannot become the be-all and end-all of an economy. To a certain degree, there has to be some kind of a regulating authority in terms of a nation's economy. You simply cannot decentralize everything.

There is already competition happening inside the crypto market. There were already times when Bitcoin was lesser than 50% in the entire crypto market cap. But then the competition is not going to be close because the simple fact remains that Bitcoin is never attached to a single individual unlike the rest.

Would Ethereum still be Ethereum if Vitalik totally abandons it? Would Litecoin continue as it is if Charlie Lee decides to leave it all behind?
5704  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Oldest scam in the book can help you make money on: July 16, 2020, 02:41:44 PM
I can actually feel you. Sometimes instead of sympathy a lot of victims seem to deserve some blame. But I don't think they need to receive ridicule or should be laughed at. They need to receive some kind of an admonishing sermon.

It seems to me that some of these victims of obvious scams are not really innocent. They are greedy and lazy and inutile. And to a certain extent they deserve it. It is partly their fault that they fell to such foolish scam.

Who in this whole goddamn world would send BTC to Barack Obama or Jeff Bezos because of a promise to double the amount they send?
5705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: crypto related twitter accounts (Binance, Bitcoin, TRON, &more) hacked on: July 16, 2020, 02:10:31 PM
~snip~
I think this is a long time and well planned scam attack but what i still don't understand is that people still send BTC during the time of posting this message to the address despite the wallet been reported for a scam.

There will always be preys that is why predators exist until now. Sometimes even the most stupid of scams would still yield enough victims. It is unbelievable for me to imagine how people would fall for Barack Obama asking for Bitcoin over twitter.

The choice of accounts was a mixture of crypto personalities, some big names in politics, some in technology, and some celebrities. No wonder why more than a hundred dollars in BTC was already obtained by the hackers in a matter of hours.

I find it weird that a person smart enough to launch such an attack and which spent quite a lot of time planning it resorted in the end with all that knowledge to a stupid doubling scam, which I doubt it earned him that much money. Total waste of brain cells.

Whatever kind of scam one comes up, whether it is more sophisticated than others, that is still a total waste of brain cells. They could have just used those skills doing something right.

That is indeed a low-level type of scam. But, as I've said above, even an unbelievably obvious scam would still convince a lot of people.
5706  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: ICObench PLATFORM WARNING on: July 16, 2020, 04:11:43 AM
Are there still people using or visiting ICOBENCH rating site, if that so then they are not well informed, they are out of the business, people do not trust their rating anymore and so are those other rating sites as long as they still posting a paid rating and reviews, they are just helping dubious and scam projects to look good in the eyes of investors, they should be out of business for good.

That is why this warning comes too late.

The question really is: are there still people falling for ICO? That is a thing of the past and a thing which has burned so much money. The lesson learned is way bigger than the realization that ICObench and other ICO rating or review sites are useless. The bigger lesson is that ICO, too, is sort of useless. And that lesson was learned a few years ago. And that is why ICO is dead.

So there is actually no way this platform could avoid an inevitable death.
5707  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: On going SCAM! Multiple popular crypto related twitter accounts hacked. on: July 16, 2020, 03:41:24 AM
The twitter accounts hacked included crypto related accounts as well as accounts of some celebrities and other popular personalities in business and politics.

Quote
Prominent accounts targeted in the Twitter attack included Joe Biden, Elon Musk, George Wallace, Bill Gates, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Wiz Khalifa, Warren Buffett, Mike Bloomberg, Barack Obama, and Jeff Bezos.
[1]

For now, there is still no official Twitter statement on how the attack was done although some security experts are saying that the hackers attacked and taken over the individual accounts and even changed the email addresses linked to these accounts.

At least 58% said they will hold the top crypto for as long as it matters, even if that means taking it to their graves.

This is apparently an exaggeration. Which makes me think that the majority of the respondents of that poll just want to give Peter Schiff a sort of in-your-face response, a statement which simply says we are for Bitcoin.

However, this is a poll which has the basic assumption that Bitcoin is not a currency but an asset or a store of value, that Bitcoin is not something that is spent as a real-world money but something which is kept for its appreciating value. That alone speaks a ton of how misguided the perception of Bitcoin is to a lot of people.

5709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Warning: crypto related twitter accounts (Binance, Bitcoin, TRON, &more) hacked on: July 16, 2020, 02:52:43 AM
The choice of accounts was a mixture of crypto personalities, some big names in politics, some in technology, and some celebrities. No wonder why more than a hundred dollars in BTC was already obtained by the hackers in a matter of hours.

Meanwhile, someone made 7 separate transactions to the address used in the hacking in order to send a message which promotes Monero (XMR). Cheesy

5710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Next bitcoin memorable dates on: July 15, 2020, 05:09:25 PM
2100 - History begins...

It has already begun.

History was made when Satoshi published the whitepaper, mined the genesis block, made the first transaction, and so on and so forth. History was made when Laszlo first made use of BTC as a real-world currency. History was made when $10/BTC was reached and also when it reached its ATH.

It won't take more long decades for Bitcoin to start creating history. From the very day it was created, from the very day it was released, history was already made.
5711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Worried my Trezor, could have been tampered with. (Reset can help?) on: July 15, 2020, 04:04:40 PM
If you're sure that it was bought from an official retailer, then you should not worry about it possibly tampered.

Trezor has a lot of official resellers such as Amazon. If you can still remember the reseller you bought your Trezor from, you may check it on their official site here: https://trezor.io/resellers/. Look for the name of the shop from where you bought your Trezor.

If you have some serious doubts, however, then don't risk. Buy a new one from their official site and sleep better.
5712  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus wallet + Trezor Hardware wallet on: July 15, 2020, 04:28:28 AM
If all you want to do is hold USDT and other cheaper altcoins, then it's probably ok. There are better alternatives, though. They lack a few basic *advanced* features like fees customization and are not open-source, so they only seem like a "good alternative" if you really want a simple user-friendly wallet.

It's probably for disposal if OP is looking for a hot wallet to connect to his/her hardware wallet. Well, OP is saying he/she intends to use it from the software wallet. There is probably no point to import from a hardware wallet to a software wallet if the intention was holding.

Anyway, I'm not sure what other stablecoins does OP wish to own and use but as far as USDT is concerned why not stick to Trezor's own?
5713  Economy / Economics / Re: Where Markets are Still Free on: July 15, 2020, 03:37:37 AM
As said by the article, bitcoin and gold are free markets. And this should be taken as an advantage by small investors like me and you. Before the giant financing companies gets to bitcoin, we have it.

This free market will remain free even if the huge traditional investors will start jumping ship.

But it would indeed be best if we have already accumulated a nice amount before they arrive. They won't arrive with thousands or even hundreds of thousands; they will probably arrive with hundreds of millions or even hundreds of billions. And this flow of investment will certainly make an affordable 1BTC a thing of the past.
5714  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING ]: Fury vs Wilder III in Las Vegas on 18th July 2020 !!! on: July 15, 2020, 03:10:46 AM
Dont know if vaccine would be available before this fight would happen..............
Based on the latest news about what the promoter has said, this fight will not happen without a crowd and there's no crowd if there's no vaccine.
In short, vaccine as to be created first for this fight to happen.

Arum wants to have a live crowd during the event. He may or may not be allowed. But I don't think a vaccine is necessary for that event to take place. December is still several months away but we cannot be certain yet whether there is already an effective COVID-19 vaccine by that time.

The estimated crowd in the targeted Allegiant Stadium numbers to 20,000. That number has already taken into consideration the required physical distancing protocol. So that's not bad at all for a huge event in times of pandemic.

Arum probably just needs to have a state or city clearance to accept live audience. The issuance of the same would highly depend on the COVID-19 status of Las Vegas in the months to come.
5715  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Upgrade Stole My Bitcoin on: July 15, 2020, 02:15:14 AM
...got a message that there is a compulsory upgrade.

Could you please tell us where this message was sent and where it came from?

Sometimes it is not the downloading of the app which is problematic itself. One may download the legit app but still fails to protect his/her BTC due to messages such as the one you received giving fake instructions on the updates.

How sad, another scam victim using Bitcoin. I don't know if this is probably the result of naive people using Bitcoin without enough technical knowledge on how to use it. Sad to say that probably 25% belongs to this kind of people that we called prey from scammers. If they are educated very well they won't fall into this kind of scammers trap.

25% is too low in my opinion. I guess more than 70% of BTC owners have made a misstep or two along the way that could have totally wiped out everything they own. It so happened that scammers are eyeing the significant amounts.

When I finally got into Bitcoin myself several years ago, I was quite enamored by the revolutionary philosophy behind it and I was too excited to own a little amount just to share with the feeling of being part of the entire saga. But that was before I got educated by the technical aspects of its security. I think this is also happening to many other newcomers probably including the OP.
5716  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What's your favorite crypto for gambling? on: July 14, 2020, 04:22:08 PM
I am mostly using ETH in gambling. I cannot remember the particular reason why I chose that except that it was something quite easier to play with compared to my more precious Bitcoin. And I had quite a number of ETH in my wallet before. From then on, it was almost always ETH. I mainly gamble with sports betting. But I have also gambled with BTC and other top altcoins such as LTC and DOGE especially in random games.

COVID-19 is definitely not the reason why cryptocurrency gambling is becoming popular, although it may have helped. Even before COVID-19, cryptocurrency gambling has already hit the main stage somehow.
5717  Economy / Economics / Re: Maintaining safety measures after pandemic for human -economical- resources on: July 14, 2020, 03:28:21 AM
If being civilized also means being more considerate of your and other people's health, then we're indeed more civilized now. For me, it is more specifically a realization of how actually weak or susceptible we are to various diseases as a species.

It is ironically funny how as a human race we are trying to conquer other planets, the stars, the universe, or even its entire existence and yet a tiny virus which we do not even know the origins of might actually wipe us out. This virus is threatening everything about us: our health, economy, lifestyle, culture, and even our entire existence.

Anyway, our economy is only as strong as our health or our social well-being. Even the most flourishing or robust economy could bow down to a virus coming from seemingly insignificant creatures of the dark.

5719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the police do if they seize bitcoin from criminals? on: July 14, 2020, 02:32:54 AM
There is no law that says "Police can then take his private keys and move his coins to a government's address". If the police cannot do something with the money then they will leave them to his address. Will these coins get lost? I don't think so. When criminal gets fired from the jail (if he went) he will still have his fortune, right?

There is no law that explicitly says so but the law is clear that anything related to a crime or to any illegal activity will be confiscated. As a matter of fact, in real life the confiscation far extends to items that are not actually part of the crime.

Normally, while the deliberation of the case is ongoing, the confiscated items will remain stored in a safe place. But when the court has already rendered its guilty verdict or specifically labelled those items to be illegally acquired, then those will become properties of the government. They have the prerogative on what to do with it.

The same is true with confiscated Bitcoins. I guess they have the freedom to either auction it immediately, keep it for a while until a decision is made on what to do with it, or simply convert it to fiat.

But we can only talk of the confiscated Bitcoins. If you have stored some which escaped the investigating eyes of the authorities, then lucky for you.
5720  Economy / Economics / Re: China economy and how they handle Covid-19. on: July 13, 2020, 01:20:27 PM
~snip~
Or maybe they have already know the Virus before it even appear in Media thats why they have countered it that fast and accuracy ?

There are so many news coming now about their activity towards this virus and the way we look at the evidence?there are part of it that are true and legit.
They must be the one whos responsible for this many lives that gone because of their own interests .
Some are planted and some are really intentional .

A few may have known of the virus earlier. As a matter of fact, the doctor who was arrested for announcing the existence of the virus noticed it way before the virus or the disease got its name. It was set aside, however. It was only given due attention when it was discovered to be very infectious and a good number of their people have gotten the disease already.

There is still no vaccine or medicine yet. And perhaps the most effective way to counter the spread of the virus is to limit the movements of the people to the most minimum. This is where China has the edge over other countries. They basically has the power to make their people follow.

I agree that China has the edge here, because of the structure, their government has much more power over the people than other big countries. What they did, other countries can't even think about doing that, its a bottom line. Darker basically they have the power to force their people to follow. Did you see some new laws in Hong Kong, life sentence for protestors. I saw that yesterday on TV, I am not sure is it official or they plan to push that law in near future, that's crazy!

Yeah, everything is all about force. The government has so much force in them they are absolutely free to jail or even to completely dispense with any individual who the government sees or thinks as a pain in the ass. This is something other countries cannot do, especially in those which I consider sociopolitically advance.

The law has been implemented already if what you refer to is the controversial Hong Kong Security Law. That's a crazy law but that is something that is expected from a crazy country. Poor Hong Kong!
