If I have 100 000 xem, then how much I should get xem per months ??

Don't buy any looking to make money from fees. The chain is too empty. Treat it as a free bonus. You might only make 5 or 10 xem in months.

But big coins need to not fail - you can imagine the media scrum and the wailing and gnashing of teeth on the wires of the scammed.

If it's possible and there's money to be made, or grudges or perversions to be serviced, then someone somewhere will do it.
5723  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [2019-01-07] Coinbase Suspends Ethereum Classic After Blockchain History Rewrite on: January 08, 2019, 12:37:16 AM
Litecoin is mined on ASICs, so it shouldn't worry about GPU's that currently mine Ethereum. And Ethereum miners will most likely just sell their GPU's when it will switch to POS, but they totally can wreak havoc on smaller altcoins before doing that.

How much in the bag is ETH's move to PoS?

We've been hearing about it for years on end.
5724  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 08, 2019, 12:33:08 AM
Well NiceHash attacks could well (should, even?) increase. It might not be too pretty, either - especially as it's POW coins that will take the brunt of it.

OK, I was wondering how shitcoins might be pruned, as is in a Darwinian way it seems sort of inevitable when there are obviously way too many with no real use case, or any likely long-term value.  But the minimal money to wreck some fairly big name coins, rattles me a tad. It will not exactly be good news if it is widely received that POW itself is not safe.

I know BTC is a way bigger deal to attack and almost impossible, but...

I wonder if there's anything in Nicehash's terms about using their equipment for nefarious ends.

If you go after BTC you're going to get a ton of idle mining thrown at you rather like the end of Ready Player One plus killing a shitcoin means nothing. Attacking the foundation of it all would be very suicidal/ballsy.
5725  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can ETF Decision make a negative impact? on: January 07, 2019, 11:07:19 PM
Yes, it is terrible if the Bitcoin ETFs are rejected by the SEC, because so far all traders are looking forward to it, so it's likely that the influence of ETFs is very important for the continuity of Bitcoin prices, I hope the Bitcoin ETF can be approved by the SEC.

I think the SEC have done their bit in letting people down gently. They've been vocal for a long time about why the likelihood of anything passing is low and absolutely nothing has changed regarding their main doubts. If anyone's betting Junior's college fund on a yes then they're incapable of processing information.

The final no may rock the price for a short while but most should know in their hearts it's a no go for a long time to come.

According to Charlie Lee this attack would've cost $5000 per hour with rented hash power.

That's a for a top 20 coin. Think that over for a sec. That's how weedy minority chains are.

The weird, or maybe disappointingly not weird, thing is that traders don't really seem to care all that much which goes to show where the average mind is.

I'll bet the vast majority of PoW coins could be squashed flat with ease for peanuts. No one cares enough to do it. It pisses all over the idea of anything other than the mightiest coins being worth anything.

5727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2019, 08:18:41 PM
not money, hashing power.
money (tokens) in POS blockchains, hashing power in POW (btc).

That's one hell of a deal in anyone's book.

BTC would require just that little bit more fairy dust.

Hey, the Russian government is going all in according to this Russian state think tank employee type.

Until tomorrow when anyone who even says it loud goes to jail for 1000 years.

And then they're all in again the following day.

Until the next day when...

I assumed the issue would be depositing from shielded addresses since that would hide previous transaction history and possibly raise AML policy issues. Why would Gemini/Coinbase care about withdrawing to shielded addresses? Couldn't customers just use shielded transactions after the initial withdrawal, or does that compromise their privacy?

Yup. I don't get it either. It seems like the wrong way round to me. I presume there's a reason for it. No idea what it is.

What is revealing is that neither have mentioned any interest in listing Monero. Kraken do though.
5730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2019, 07:39:33 PM
assholes can try the same on btc?

They'd have to have a mountain more money.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/ethereum-classic-51-attack-would-cost-just-55-mln-result-in-1-bln-profit-research and I'll bet that figure is way lower now.

And ETC can die or be rogered to pieces without too many other people caring. If you did the same to BTC there wouldn't be anything left to short.

The Bcashes are much more likely candidates but the only people spiteful enough to do it are the ones keeping the Bcashes alive.

ETC is likely to have undergone a 51% attack.

I was really surprised Gemini had the balls to list Zcash last year. Who knows, with Coinbase hinting at an altcoin/token listing spree, maybe they'll add a privacy coin themselves.

https://blog.coinbase.com/buy-and-sell-zec-on-coinbase-ccd0bbb642a9

"Initially, customers can send ZEC to Coinbase from both transparent and shielded addresses, but only send off Coinbase to transparent addresses. In the future, we’ll explore support for sending ZEC to shielded addresses in locations where it complies with local laws."#

https://medium.com/gemini/gemini-is-now-the-worlds-first-licensed-zcash-exchange-dfa7da992816

"At launch, Gemini will support deposits from unshielded or shielded addresses, but will only support withdrawals to unshielded addresses. We are working to support withdrawals to shielded addresses in the future."

Looks like it's privacy lite but all the same since it got the NYDFS stamp of approval it's an interesting development. My guess is they'll allow shielded withdrawals never, but the more interesting one is allowing shielded deposits from the off.

Looking into whether these things have back doors is a journey into FUD hell so I can't be arsed.

5733  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano X - new mobile focused hardware wallet on: January 07, 2019, 06:45:10 PM
space for 100 coins, larger screen, price drop for the nano s.

It's not about space.

You can already use way more than 100 coins in Nano S.

The main difference is you can use the APPS needed for it in the ledger at the SAME time.

Well yes. That's what I meant, though perusing the list of coins they accommodate was largely a journey into total mystery.

It's still the bluetooth I'm wondering about the most. I presume they'll have explored every possible route for exploitation. There must be others waiting to be dug out.

Must suck to be spoiled with good looks?

Good looks don't count for all that much. Most of the female attention I could be arsed with arrived when I've been corpulent with hair sprouting from every pore. And no matter what my body fat levels are I usually dress and smell like a wino.

Har Mar Superstar has had more action than most of us will ever know.

The average Incel mass murderer is usually rather pleasant to look at and no doubt utterly skin crawling to interact with.

I have known one bloke in my life with a quite astounding X factor. Almost every other female he comes across tries to get in his panties. He's a totally broke skinny short arse with a nose the size of Rhose Island.
5735  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it possible sending BTC without a transaction fee? on: January 07, 2019, 05:36:57 PM
I thought the free transactions was only applicable for transactions that was done between Xapo account holders and not applicable to any on-chain transactions.  Roll Eyes  The reason why these transactions was free, was because it was off-chain and done on Xapo's internal ledger system.

Interesting, I never knew Xapo paid for the miners fees too.  Huh I guess they covered those fees with the other fees they charge for the debit card and subscription fees?

If Greg Maxwell says it's possible, that's good enough for me. However it is a three year or more year old comment so perhaps many things have changed.

Coinbase Pro/Gdax also paid outgoing fees though I presume that will have stopped a long time back too. I wonder how much in total Xapo and Coinbase swallowed in network fees for their punters overall. Other than guarding the funds of their rich friends I'm not really sure what Xapo does any more.

5736  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-02] HitBTC freezes customer funds before proof of keys event on: January 07, 2019, 04:21:25 PM
@1Referee. Agreed. However, exchanges already do have shit on us. They ask for our identities, control the amount we can withdraw and might also freeze our accounts if they found more shit they do not like.

Also if an exchange begun offering interest, would you trade in the one without or the one with? I reckon many people will go to the one with.

The exchange is forced to do all of that as the price of keeping on the right side of the legislative types. They ain't doing it for fun. Presumably it adds tens of millions of dollars in annual extra costs to somewhere of Coinbases's size.

Someone somewhere is going to voice the idea of above board fractional reserve at some point. I'm extremely interested to see how it's taken. Though we like to think there'll be no shortage of outrage, most people will probably stampede towards it if there's the prospect of a piffling return in it for them.

It's odd how this has remained an unvoiced subject considering it happens everywhere else and I wonder how many crypto businesses have discussed this between themselves. The first place to do it may be shunned or everyone rushes to match them after watching for a while.
5737  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 07, 2019, 10:52:14 AM
Bears go full retard mode. Some entity is obviously buying BTC in big chunks (green dildos). They let the market chill a bit and the price drops and then they buy some more. Isn't it a coincidence that BAKKT tweeted about their $182m investment recently? Now the question is will they let the price dip below their buying price or would someone in their right mind invest $182m without being sure the bottom is in? Would you?

Buy now or regret later! Go BTC go!

That $182 million makes its $182 million back from price movement. It doesn't care what the price is as long as it goes up and down in large volumes.

https://www.coindesk.com/ledger-crypto-wallet-goes-mobile-with-bluetooth-ready-nano-x

This hasn't had a full launch yet but here are some details - mobile focused with Bluetooth, space for 100 coins, larger screen, price drop for the nano s.

What's the opinion on Bluetooth for this? Will you be tempted to upgrade?
5739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint T1 16TH/S halongmining.com on: January 07, 2019, 02:28:19 AM
Halong was a wrong brand and if you research enough you will eventually find it as a deregistered business entity. Part of it seized operation in May of 2018 and other half later in 2018.

I'm sure others have tried to look for them but had 0 success after retaining competent law firm(s). You may not want to underestimate what Social Engineering can find someone who is lost in plain view like needle in a massive haystack.

First time I've checked this thread in a long time.

So Halong is a totally dead operation? To your knowledge did they fulfill all their obligations or, ongoing support aside, leave a large number of people hanging?

The whole ride has been a strange one. From furious conjecture, to proving the doubters wrong to disappearing again.
5740  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which bitcoin exchange do you use on: January 07, 2019, 01:37:35 AM
At the moment I'm mainly using Kraken. The UI is very unlovely and if I was a serious trading type I'm not sure I could face using it day in, day out. But for someone looking to make the occasional exchange it's fine.

I've been fully verified on there for years. No one's hassled me for more. Withdrawals are prompt. They helpfully converted my SV or whatever it's called for me.

I'm considering opening accounts on all the major ones I haven't already. The one I won't be going back to is Bitstamp. I'm verified on there. I do not like the idea of no longer being verified whenever they feel like it.
