http://news.msn.com/science-technology/mt-gox-in-bankruptcy-says-may-have-lost-all-its-bitcoins-to-hackers

Karpeles told the news conference that Mt. Gox wanted to file a criminal complaint against what he said was a hacking attack, but had no specific means of doing so.<-----------lmao   Always has that smirk of contempt on his face.

Wow.  He is now actually blaming it on Japan.

Good luck with that.  The Japanese will act bashfully sorry for about 2 seconds before they skewer him.

May your castle party be a great memory for your whole life.

what´s the worst that can happen when one does login via a wrong certificate  Huh
Can´t imagine how a potential hacker would get my seals password by doing this.

Man in the middle

DO NOT LOG IN IF YOU SEE A BAD CERT.

If you have you better get them to lock your account, and change passwords anywhere else you use that one.  You will have just given it to the hacker.

We see the double bottom and the reversal confirmed with the SMA200 being broken; but we also see a long grind back before exponential growth takes hold.  I think these recovery phases are contracting in terms of time but I still wouldn't be packing your space gear just yet.

I think this is very instructive.

And yet, we have not seen this exact market condition before...  this time it's a little different in my humble opinion.

Near total bankruptcy... is that like near total death... or "not dead", or "not bankrupt".

If someone were to beat you nearly to death it would be a significant thing.

Today we have transcripts of the CEO admitting the "crisis management" document is "pretty much all true".

<JonWickedFire> Is that Crisis Strategy Draft even legit?
[11:04] <MagicalTux> more or less
[11:05] <MagicalTux> as the name suggests it's a draft, and it's a bunch of proposals to deal with the issue at hand, not things that are actually planned and/or done
[11:06] <MagicalTux> this said this document was not produced by MtGox

That means Mt Gox either sold over 700,000 BTC short, lost them, stole them, or were robbed of them.

I personally believe it is a combination of mostly the first and last items in that list.

Comparing this situation to a bank closing on the weekend is IDIOTIC.  This is a failure of such grave proportions is will be talked about for ages.  It has set bitcoin back YEARS in acceptance and now it is all about damage control.  We are talking tsunami damage, not a little storm.

I personally think bitcoin survives even this.  But it's going to take a long time.

I want at least 50% of my bitcoins kept there..
Otherwise I am going to get really upset!

Best regards,
ilpirata79
The weird thing is did you ever have bitcoins there? Bitcoins are things where you have the private key to unique solutions on the blockchain. Without the key you didn't. have. coins.

If you did you should be able to access them now.

This needs to be repeated again and again.

If one does not control the private keys, one has no bitcoin.

Lol...  Youre sort of right OP.

No proof of insolvency... not as much as proof of near total BANKRUPTCY.

It could be a little inside hint.  Interesting the goat is perched atop the mountain right where the new CEO is being discussed.  A little hint?  Clue?  Flirtation?

I think the best outcome would be someone with the funds to begin to repair the image of bitcoin by fixing Gox is best.  But who on earth has that many bitcoins?

Wink
5752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 25, 2014, 07:30:09 AM
Gox should be able to identify every double withdrawal transaction they ever made, and they have IDs of all these customers.
Been waiting for someone to bring this up... dingdingding

Yes indeed folks.  Most of us here have at one time entrusted tens, hundreds, even thousands of thousands of dollars to a business who just showed they believe they can delete the internet. Smiley

......And.......

The twitter feed has been vacuumed.  LOL

@MtGox hasn't tweeted yet.

5755  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [mtgox] Is Mark still alive? on: February 24, 2014, 04:37:04 AM

Mark is French, ergo...

Bah.  Mark would need a waaaay bigger tree.
5756  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: February 24, 2014, 04:33:12 AM

wow...seeing as they held off doing this it now comes as a surprise. Perhaps an indication they don't have a fix in sight?

I don't imagine people at Gox are worried about a "fix".

They are worried about going to jail, or being murdered by an ex SR hitman who has 6 figures sitting in an account there.

Does seals offer any kind of preventative measures againnst cheating?  If I can prove that i was colluded against, would anything be done?

When is the next bullshit gox press release and new lame reason for holding money hostage? I always await the press releases with great anticipation in relation to goxs next stumbling block. Maybe Marks washing machine on fritz and he cannot allow withdrawls until he has fresh underwear?

He can always order new ones...

is it provably fair? thanks

Poker fairness is kinda intrinsically impossible to prove.

There are lots of way cheating can occur.

That said I feel highly confident after many many months of play at seals that the site and software are honest and fair.

Well, in 2008, if you had bet on bank X, then you lost. I am saying when sharks frenzy on one shark, and it takes weeks, it's like moving artillery into position. For my part, I am on the side of the Goxxies, I want their coin to be good, I want their value logically and truthfully restored. I also want a pony.

Oh. Well good.  Because you can at least get a pony.
