So we will get into that 5-6-7 cent range almost always when this happens hash drops a bit.

As these are the break even numbers.

we almost never drop to 4-5-6 cent range for a diff drop trend to happen.

Of course a simple price rise to 25k fixes a lot of issues for miners.

I am also starting to expect a similar scenario, where the difficulty will be moving in a narrow range just like the price does for a good while, I think there is a good amount of idle hashrate that's ready to go on with a click of a button, many gears probably run underclocked after a diff spike, and then back stock/overclock right after a drop.

So something like 3-7% up in difficulty  > switch to underclock / power off, causes difficulty drop which leads to > go back to stock/overclock or power on, rinse and repeat, in fact, this has been happening for the last 6 epochs starting from the 23rd of November the difficulty change has been + - + - + - and now are about to print a +, which means we are very likely to print a - for the following epoch, rinse and repeat until a new equilibrium is made.

Yep lets argue you have 100000 s19 pro they do 3kwatts and 100th or 2kwatts and 82th

flip flop in a few minutes when needed will be the norm.

So you are burning 300000 kwatts a hour and 10eh or 200000 kwatts an hour and 8.2 eh

now the move above would be a 300mw mining farm and I am not sure if one does exist at that size.

All gear in one plant site. Maybe two 150,000 sq foot buildings with liquid cooling could do the trick.

let me think that over.

say a 5 by 3 basin stacked 4 high does 32 s19's that is 15 square ft so 10 stacks of them is 150 square ft  and 320 units.

1000 stacks of them is 15000 square ft and  32000 units so yeah only one 45000 foot building with 3000 stacks of liquid cooling bins would do 96000 s19's that would be a sight to see. Hopefully the liquid would be not flammable  Cry

@ JJG you tell him.

@ everyone else be like JJG just DCA.

I got 10 weeks in a row going for 11 next Friday.

The more I DCA the easier it is to do. Wink

very strong move upwards

36.95T  is our all-time high

looks like it is about to fall.

at the moment we are about 6.3 cents a th pre power

if we jump 10% and we are on track to do it.  earnings will drop to 5.6 or 5.7 cents a th

So a 100 th s19 will do $5.60  to $5.70 a day pre power.

say 75 kwatts a day

12 cents  = $9.00 Loser
11 cents  = $8.25 Loser
10 cents  = $7.50 Loser
  9 cents  = $6.75 Loser
  8 cents  = $6.00 Loser
  7 cents  = $5.25 Loser
6 cents  = $4.50 small profit if no debt and building is owned not rented
  5 cents  = $3.75 profit

So we will get into that 5-6-7 cent range almost always when this happens hash drops a bit.

"be like JJG just DCA"

He doesn't have to do DCA until he does not understand what he is doing and what Bitcoin is.
He should learn more about Bitcoin before he invests. Otherwise, he will blame his friend for even short-term loss.

so he has to “not understand what he is doing”  in order to do DCA.

which is exactly why you should do DCA. Understanding the why of it is not necessary at all.

If he can commit to 66 better yet 99 weekly fiat dca buys of Btc that he can afford to lose he need not understand the why of it.

Now most investors cant do the simplest thing there is to do DCA weekly for a year or two or three or four.

It is how wealth is formed.

Most investors pick too much to use for DCA and do not stick to it come hell or high water.

I can frankly tell you I am guilty of an inability of proper DCA of btc.

But for the last ten fridays I did x dollars at coinbase so I made 10 straight DCA buys.

I would love to see just how many I can do. so
I picked a very reasonable weekly fiat number that I should be able to do for all of 2023 and all of 2024.

DCA investing is a basic plan that everyone in the world that does any investing should try to do one good long DCA. Maybe four years is a good goal.

I did one long dca move with one item in my life (doge) I simply saved every doge I mined from 2018 to 2021. That is not the dca move. I matched what I mined during that time.

My return was really good. yeah it is a different coin but had I done the same with btc for 2012 to 2015 I would be exceedingly rich.

I learned the hard way DCA is the way to go. You do not need to understand this at all.

Just Believe in JJG and DCA what you can afford to lose.

My Best friend always ask me why you invest your money in Bitcoin??

I reply Bitcoin is a high profitable currency for all of holders. I told him about history of Bitcoin. After listening history of Bitcoin he have interest more then me.

After he became interested in Bitcoin through your explanation, did he immediately invest in Bitcoin or did he still have other thoughts through different questions?
Because you also need to tell him about people who are losing because they can't wait for the best price in Bitcoin so you won't be blamed for this later. Because not a few people blame other people or people who give advice when they experience losses through the investment that you suggest. So this is part of the risk and you also need to explain it to him before he starts his investment in Bitcoin within this year.

He needs to spread the word:

"be like JJG just DCA"

then add only spend what you can afford to lose.

Heck I will be 66 this month and I am doing a Friday dca started it on Fri the 4 of November 2022.

it is never to late to start a DCA

....

Yikes!! Probably a good thing you never met him then...

....

I have a buddy that broke his dads pool table banging a one night stand.

Or so he said....

Haven’t thought of that story in a real long time. Maybe 46-50 years since I heard it.

I could pm him on facebook and ask if it was true. Not sure if its a very good idea to do so.😉

I think I will let broken tables lie.

...
This algo sends all miners on 3002 to Piggy Back and Mine with that specific miner to ultimately try and punch through the next bitcoin block.  Lets say someone releases a part of that code and ends in the hands of one or more of the top 10 mining companies  that solve the vast majority of bitcoin blocks. Someone whoever leaked that just gave them more ways to deny smaller pools their share of bitcoin block rewards.
...
OK, so you are running a scam.

Bitcoin mining is a random event, you can't predict random events.

Try reading. Algo can in fact take historic data from a pools submitted shares and to its best of ability to predict what miner will in fact be the strongest in that round. READ before you post. I knew you would be one of the first here throwing shade.
...
No it cant.
You are lying.
It's a scam.

Block finding is a random event.

Too bad that kitkatz and sledge0001 had a falling out.

We lost a small pool last month as a block was stolen from it.

Since I did a lot of background talks and pm's with sledge0001 and a little with kitkatz on a discord channel I was hoping to get on the  pool with them.

They had a fight / argument and split up.

I will say one thing if KitKatz has a method to non randomize btc mining that works the whole game will change.

For now at this moment I do not know of a way to do that. So I will watch and see how this works out.

My guess is not very positive.

At kano I tend to think you are pretty much correct that the op can not do what they say they can.
5748  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin What is the probability of 60 K+ again? on: January 08, 2023, 12:43:49 AM
What is the probability you grow some nuts and buy some now that it's low again?

hey op listen to this guy.

and here is some advice

be like JJG and DCA.

I am on my tenth week of DCA.

every Friday I buy x in usd of BTC.

pick your x and buy x 10 weeks in a row.

then decide if you will do it for another 10 weeks.

This is a huge work out to test your ability to display zero emotion trading for 10 weeks minimum.

Ideally you do this for the next fifty weeks.

x could be 50 usd worth that would be 2500
x could be 20 usd worth that would be 1000
x could be 100 usd worth that would be 5000

the amount should be what you can afford to lose not more.

if you cant do this it likely means you will always trade emotionally which = high risk.

good luck what ever you do.

btw I am hoping to do a 200 or 222 week dca.

so far I am on week 10.

Oh legal bs if you do what I say and lose money do not say it is my fault you followed my advice.

I do not force you to buy sell or hodl and my advice is essentially worth zero as it can be right or wrong or neutral.

Interesting...I can think of other uses... (oh jeezus... I'm watching too much porn...)

Hah, I wanted one to use as a bed like in a movie I saw as a kid when I was young, think is was a Rutger Hauer flick Bounty hunter or some such thing.

I did bang a chick on her dads pool table when I was a kid and still have the scars on my knees, I don't recommend it.

*Left with her frantically trying to scrubbing off the smooge

I have a buddy that broke his dads pool table banging a one night stand.

.....

I haven't used my pool table since New Years party 2010 so be aware it may just end up taking space and gathering dust.

.....

Yeah, I have considered the fact that the novelty of having one's own pool table will wear off in a week or so.
Then its back to the normal life of screen time swiping and scrolling...

having had a ping pong table and two brothers to play against in my teens I can say it was a lot of fun to have round robin tournaments for say three years maybe four.

Then life got in the way.

I cant decide what to do with the new space above the new garage....  (thank you bitcoin)
A studio to record really bad songs? (Jay and marcus would like that)
An indoor grow room to produce badass, stinky, sticky-icky? (idk, I don't indulge and I currently have a surplus)
Or something I just thought of tonight over a couple of beers...
A billiards table to play billiards or snooker. (not that retarded American eight ball crap)
I kid... I always play eight ball on a pool table. It's what everyone knows.
Albeit, my late dear old dad taught me 3 ball billiards and snooker...the real deal, imo, when it comes to games on a pool billiard table.

And now I'm waiting for my manic trolling Greek buddy to post a big, long flaming toxic diatribe of split up quotes and one line replies he thinks are clever,
designed to bolster his "legend hero* in his own mind" status. (*apparently, he had to start a new account. I cant imagine why...)
As he ages, he will come to realize how foolish his posts are.  Or maybe not, who knows if it's permanent brain damage?

GO BITCOIN

If it was me, definitely a music studio, in fact I'm considering converting the garage into one. There wouldn't be enough space above it unless I get a massive dormer I guess. Maybe it's possible.

But what's a studio these days anyway. I guess it depends on what you play. A large desk with good speakers and a super keyboard is all I need. I have that now in one of the down stairs rooms but it feels a bit cramped. Think there would still be space for a pool table if I moved all this to the garage (or above with dormer).

Snooker is ok but it's pretty hard I found when I attempted to play it for a while.

Music setup, pool table, modern arcade machine, outlook onto the garden. I think it would be nice.

maybe change the window to a romeo and juliet balcony . gives a nice garden view and allows for smoking herbs.

I eat lots of beef.

I altered my breakfast.

More beef or pork in the omelets.

Less eggs in the omelets.

More peppers, onions,stringbeans,broccoli,califower.

Same cheese.

I would use 8 jumbo eggs per omelette,I now use four.

I would eat omelette for breakfast and lunch.

It was and still is very low carb thus blood sugar and a1c are stable.

I eat very close to grain free diet.

I also do not eat corn syrup and sugar.

A very small amount of maple syrup. one or two times a week
A small amount of dark chocolate every day.

Walmart sells a decent 16 pack of angus beef 80 percent lean burgers.

I often use a patty in the omelette.

It is about three eggs or $1.50 worth of eggs .

I get a lot of grass feed brisket shipped to my home and slow cook it.

being a diet controlled diabetic is very expensive as you can not eat a ton of cheap food.

I have to limit carrots but I do daily walks and get a lot of sun.
5753  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2023 Bitcoin can take a position discussion. on: January 07, 2023, 03:45:16 PM

In 2022, the cryptocurrency market reached its lowest level due to the three coins Luna, Celcius, FTX.  And it still exists in this state.  2022 was not a good year for Bitcoin.

Who said it was bad? I mean for many people 2022 was really great. I am talking about the ones who wanted an opportunity to buy the high valued coin. Bitcoins were at 69k usd, and many people wanted to buy it. Thanks to 2022, for which we witnessed Bitcoins at 16k usd, and many people bought the coin for such a low price. Now as Bitcoin follows a 4 year cycle, this year is expected to be big for the Bitcoins. Let’s not debate more and wait for the outcomes. Wishing us all the best for the future.

Good point those that stayed on the sidelines from 2009 to last fall could have got in at near 15k

I grabbed a small piece for 15.7k In November.
5754  Economy / Economics / Re: "Prepare for defation in 2023" on: January 07, 2023, 05:02:51 AM
Not in 2023.

The USA Long Term Care industry is a big deal

close to 3.5 trillion in assets.

Unlike any other country USa makes you buy Long Term Care insurance if you want decent care.

Alzheimer and Dementia are big in the USA due to boomers (myself included) being conned into eating high carb diets for 1950 to 1990.

So with small bond interest the LONG TERM CARE industry was dying.

I know a lot about this since my bro-in-law has Dementia and will not get better.

But he has LTC policy. So I checked  them out on various rating companies.

I did this last Dec 2021. and they were rated 45% chance to go bust in 2022

I did further research and found all the companies 14 of them with 3 trillion in assets had bad ratings.

Why? they make bank in the bond market and the bond market sucked in dec 2021

well guess what. these companies rated 40 to 50 % shot to go broke in 2022 gained 500 billion due to bond rates rising.

they are now rated 30 to 40% to go broke in 2023....

My guess is at least 2023 with rates going up then flat. will add 250 to 300 million to these companies. and maybe we see a slump in 2024.

2023 interest up inflation persists.

maybe light at tunnels end in 2024.

wow, @phil, those one year differences in NY groceries are just CRAZY (feels almost like Argentina).
@BitcoinBunny...it goes to how that long-term inflation numbers are cringe-worthy.

Alas, apart from buying btc (and, reluctantly, maybe gold), what one can do?
Gold goes up and down so slowly that you never know if you are getting a bargain or buying at the top as we are still below the 2011 top, 12 years later.
I bought a little of paper silver (SLV) some time ago, not going to buy a bag and store it somewhere. It is not the same, but, hopefully, sufficiently close for a hedge.
Still, this is just for fun.

Thank god it is some of the  food not all.

I have okay amounts of silver.

Not much gold.

I keep stacking btc and expanding the mine.

I can't get the LPM firmware to load on my S19's

Bear in mind my S19's had original June 2020 firmware on them

I got the 17MB intermediary firmware loaded ANTMINER-S19-release-202111161922.bmu

But when I try and load Antminer-S19-merge-release-20221227070716.bmu it just says its uploading and installing, but it doesn't install, it just refreshes the page an doesn't reboot the miner and the logs/screens don't indicate any change.

Was there an earlier release? If so can someone please link me?

5759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people store their cryptocurrency on exchanges? on: January 06, 2023, 10:07:53 PM
I am in the process of purchasing a Ledger Nano offline wallet and it got me thinking about why people store their digital assets on crypto exchanges.
Some to get measly return via staking, some simply due ignorance, thinking that exchanges are sort of banks and that they funds are "safu", some are simply too afraid to hold their own coins and would rather put that responsibility in someone else's hands. Neither of these reasons make any sense, but that's people.

What would happen if Binance got hacked tomorrow and lost the majority of its cryptocurrency? Would they be able to reimburse customers or would they become insolvent?
Since their "safu" fund is allegedly 1 billion and Binance is in control of tens of billions of dollars, you can imagine what would happen and whether they would be able to reimburse everyone.

I asked my close group of friends how many store their assets on exchanges and only 1 out of 6 uses an offline wallet.
In the early days bitcoin attracted mostly people who were heavily into privacy, freedom, believed in "be your own bank" thing, but majority of bitcoiners nowadays don't really care about any of those things exepct numbers going up, so this example of yours doesn't surprise me one bit.

They store because they want higher exchange rates in future.
And how exactly you get "higher exchange rates" by storing your crypto on the exchange? Exchanges are for trading (exchanging) currencies, not for storing.

Okay put 100000 Doge you own on an exchange.

Set 3 sale points

33,333 at 29 cents
33,333 at 49 cents
33,333 at 69 cents

set it and forget it.

doge was 0.2 cents in 2020

doge peaked at 70 cents in 2021

So the above is doable.

or was possible to do.

At the moment I have Zil on an exchange it is from merge mining etc and zil

I sell all the etc and list the zil at 10 cents 20 cents and 30 cents.
5760  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: mmpool.org - 1.5% fee DGM/PPS - tx fees/vardiff/merge mine/tor on: January 06, 2023, 08:51:15 PM

I have emailed admin@mmpool.org several times since 27 December 2022 and I have received no reply since then.

The admin assured me in 2021 that the pool would remain operational and encouraged more mining.  I rented mining rigs and found the majority of the blocks in 2021.
Those rewards were paid out as promised.  The admin encouraged more mining

This year, I mined more and doubled down in the last quarter to try to find a block before the end of the year for this pool.
It was a long and difficult round with low luck.  It seemed to go on forever.  I went in deeper.
A block was found and I was elated to get some of the year-long investment back... or so I thought.

We were robbed before the payout happened.
The admin put the pool on hold for an audit and then dropped communications.

I have been patient, but this is fraud.
I don't have any other course of action: I will find the admin in person and continue the conversation.
I emailed the admin to say exactly that message today.  Still no reply.

So, backing up to last year...
On 27 December, I received this final message for 2022.  At the time I agreed to keep it confidential while the admin worked out the details.  But since I have had no reply, here are all the details of that final message.  The typos and removed information was exactly as I received it.  The facts don't match what actually happened since the alleged perpetrator talks about 2016 and 2017 and this all went down between December 2021 and December 2022.  But anyway, here it is.

Quote
I have been contacted by the person who took the pool funds today. They have provided proof that they accessed the server. They apparently gained access a long time ago, and waited for the opportunity to obtain the funds. Here's part of their communication:

===
The btc server was accesed first with user [removed}, I checked that wallet that was stored local and I see 0 transactions.
I copied that wallet and go away for months.
I keeped an eye on that public addreses from pool and I see no transactionas from 2016 or 2017 and I go away.
after some time I come back and check again that address and I see some coinbase transactions from some block mined.
I come back to that btc server and I tried to modified the pool config file but no admin privilege and I tried to got admin privilege with a linux kernel expl.
but was a btc server crash first time and then the root privilege escalation was succesful.
I put a new mining address and keep waiting months.
after a lot of time in a day I received a mining pool notification and bang the block mined.
==

They say the funds are "in a safe place" and asked my to email them back for details which I have done today. Please keep the specific details above confidential for now while I communicate with them. I'll let you know as soon as they reply, or within 24 hours if I haven't heard back.

Somebody please quote this post for me.
I will apologize if I am so lucky to be wrong about this fraud ... or I will find the admin and discuss it in person.

        ctya
(Calmer Than You Are )

I am sorry for the loss you suffered.

Even if it is not fraud by the pool owner he still is liable for not securing the mining address correctly.

You certainly would have a civil case against him if you find him.

your loss is 6 x 16.8k = 100.8k or more I hope you can find him out and get restitution from him.
