Pre-Announcing BiteCoin

Only 72 spots remaining!

With this coin, I hope to launch the largest cryptocurrency fraud and go down in infamy. I am looking for 99 people to donate 1 BTC each to this project. I will release the client to only 100 of us and we will pre-mine 50% of all coins using CPU together. Anyone caught using GPU will be removed. We will hard fork you out, then we will have to continue with GPU without you.

  • Pre-mine 50% of coins, doesn't really matter, we just need enough to sell
  • Sell BiteCoins to unsuspecting consumers unaware it is a faux Bitcoin at full price
  • Clone legitimate exchanges, using typo domains, etc. to sell more
  • Collude with existing fraudulent exchanges to sell our coins instead of genuine ones
  • Infiltrate localbitcoins
  • Target people's greed by spamming leaked email databases with an offer for 25% off BiteCoins
  • We will hit it hard, make a fortune, then disappear
  • Sell at discount in the newbies forum
  • Sell for paypal, chargebacks won't matter
  • Our client will look identical to the genuine client
  • Buyers complaining they can't get our coins will be told to "upgrade" with a download link to our counterfeit client
  • Our client will be an "upgrade" that syncs the blockchain very quickly because we barely have one

I forgot to mention how this coin will revolutionize currency and is a vast improvement on Bitcoin and all the other copycats... but without actually saying what those improvements are.

It's also not another copy coin, I wrote it from scratch! However, I am offering a bounty for a wallet because I don't know how to program.

It's also immune to pump and dumps because there's only going to be 13,000,000 coins and you can only pump and dump if there's billions.

By the way, which celebrities are endorsing this and do you have any memes ready to be shared on twitter?

I look forward to seeing blog posts from media interns so we know that financial institutions are taking this coin seriously.

Look forward to riding this moon to the doggy with you all.

Join now! We launch when 99 spots fill up.

I think its stupid, it has no meaning.
What if there are thousands of alt coins?  Huh
People cant see the trees through the forest anymore.

Fight the battle with the exchanges  Cool

I think this is sad news

What trees?
5788  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Automatic Altcoin Generator on: January 04, 2014, 08:52:11 AM
Now your next step is to provide an exchange for your coins. More backend profit.

Now excuse me while I rub out, I mean mine, a cum coin.
5789  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: January 04, 2014, 08:09:58 AM
I thought armorys wallet is deterministic and you only need to backup it once - no matter how many new addresses you generate afterwards. Isn't it like that?

Correct it is deterministic, but a keypool is pre-generated addresses that can be used. It saves time, and has nothing to do with backup unless you change that number, then you may miss addresses when you restore, but changing that value will return those addresses.

If you used more and restore, it won't think to generate them YET. It CAN, you just tell it to.

We should just delete every altcoin thread. They don't belong here, people using them are taking huge risks.

So, people buying bitcoins today at $800 each are NOT taking huge risks?

Quantum computing could render every crypto-coin (including bitcoin) obsolete tomorrow.  You take a risk every time you dabble in ANY crypto coin.

Quantom computers aren't good at everything, even if they were, just raise difficulty to 100 trillion, you are spreading fud

So how is it be open source and not open source at the same time, exactly? That at least you can surely stick around to answer.

The page is simply wrong/outdated in that regard, all code necessary to run a validator is publicly available (before that access was only granted on demand to a few dozen developers outside OpenCoin) under an MIT license (just like Bitcoin-QT) on github:
https://github.com/ripple

The server is called "rippled", the client "ripple-client" and it uses the JavaScript library "ripple-lib". Also quite a few other projects are also available in source code there (e.g. a market overview page).

There is nothing that can or will stop you from bootstrapping/running your own Ripple network or forking it other than the limitation that this can't be called "Ripple" any more (similar to Litecoin, Dogecoin, Namecoin, ...coin which use mostly bitcoin code but not the Satoshi block chain).

"shill" "protecting my investment in that obvious scam"

5799  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Chilling video about fractional reserve on: January 03, 2014, 06:39:00 PM
Weren't gold scripts straight fraud and fractional reserve half fraud since dollars could be printed but not gold? Thus fractional reserve Bitcoin would be a better option.

No and no.  The advantage of fractional reserve banking is that it increases the amount of working money thereby reducing the cost of capital.  If the same bitcoin deposit is used to back 2 bitcoins of loans, then the cost of the loans is half what it would be if it was only backing 1 loan.  That's why it's worked for banks.  In effect, money is made to work harder.

Or make the banks more interest, if it collapses, simply bail them out.
5800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloudhasing.com Vs. CEX.IO? which to choose? on: January 03, 2014, 06:25:06 PM
Right now, there is a steady rise, good buy support and people are beginning to believe it might be a long steady rise. Now is the time to jump in and make an account, get your BTC ready and buy on the impending big downward spike.

On the difficulty readjustment, simply look here:
http://bitcoinwisdom.com/litecoin/difficulty

The top was reached in LTC after a nice steady rise in price. people mined it, then went elsewhere once the difficulty became too much. As competitors to BTC arise that cannot be simultaneously mined, those with large rigs will switch over, and difficulty will begin a downtrend. As that happens, the GHs price will increase because the difficulty will decrease. See eMunie.com for one possible BTC competitor for GHs... Others will come to compete, and that will be demanded by those who have made a large investment into equipment, as so many have over the last few months.

If no competitor arises that cannot be simultaneously mined, everyone who bought a mining rig will try to sell it off ASAP or eventually will turn it off as the power consumption costs more than the BTC being mined.

It is therefore inevitable that those with mining rigs that are becoming non-cost efficient will throw their support behind a mineable product that competes with BTC, once they realize that they cannot even sell their rigs for the same amount they paid.

The difficulty then must trend downwards and BTC mining will become more profitable once the competing coin/coins gain traction.
