5781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Update Electrum 3.0.2 on: January 04, 2021, 11:32:17 AM
I download Electrum 3.3.8.1
Download the lastest version which is 4.0.9, you can download it from electrum official site (electrum.org). Also, do not forget to verify.

How can i get my bitcoins from the old version to the new ?
Yes. You can do that by importing your seed phrase to the new electrum wallet that you will download.

I also bought yesterday bitcoins. The were send to the adres of the 3.0.2 version, but the didn't arrive
It will be good to make use of blockchain explorer to track the transaction by checking the transaction hash/id.

5782  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum wallet version 3.03 can't send bitcoin to the exchange to sell on: January 04, 2021, 10:18:17 AM
The version support mnemonic (seed phrase), if you know their is nothing wrong with the connection then you will need to upgrade to the latest version. Download new one (the lastest version) and import the seed phrase into the new downloaded version.

Never download electrum from app stores because of fake ones, make use of electrum.org for the download and make sure you verify the signature.
5783  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin ever be as fungible as Monero? on: January 04, 2021, 07:35:14 AM
I have read recently about how Dash (also a coin that its transactions can not be traced) compared Dash to Bitcoin. What I will first comment about is that coins (monero, dash and zcash) that can not be tracked will only later be a safe haven for criminals in a way money launderers will make use of it while terrorists will later resort to it to finance terrorism because it is not a traceable coin.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5229148.msg54121333#msg54121333

Bitcoin Privacy Model 1

If you check both diagram, there should be ways people can still be able to trace fraudulent transactions, this can be known for bitcoin (privacy coin), but will be difficult for anonymous coin like monero and dash which is even practically impossible to be traced.

Bitcoin has ever been the best not even better because better is an understatement, it is the real privacy coin that fulfills what people needs, that is why it can not get banned by governments of most countries unlike anonymous coins like monero that has been facing challenges of being delisted from many exchanges.
5784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: why its important to read Terms and condition when sending funds on: January 04, 2021, 07:11:20 AM
It is good to read the terms before sending coins to especially an exchange, this is common to them in a way sending less than minimum amount will not appear in your account. But it can not happen to noncustodial wallets because you have the private key to your bitcoin, you can send as low as 1 satoshi so far you have transaction fee to be used in the sending. But for many exchanges, it is good to know their minimum amount that can be send because any amount below it will be lost.

This is how many exchanges works, not your key not your coin, nothing can recover back the fund in this case unlike using noncustodial wallet which your bitcoin will be sent successfully regardless the minimal the transaction amount is.

also for some coins don't forget to add the destination tag, this is is a 6digit number to know where exactly to send a certain coin that requires it is aside from wallet address it
There are some coins that make use of destination tag, like ripple it is more than 6 digits it is 10 digits. Also while regarding to it in some coins it is not regarded as destination tag, it is regarded as meme or another name giving to it, although not sure if some other coins call it meme, but binance coin call it meme.
5785  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Electrum 200% fee on: January 04, 2021, 12:41:55 AM
So if someone is having huge number of inputs then they can combine all together and make a transaction when the mempool is empty so they won't be paying huge fee when the network is congested.
This is just exactly what should be done if there are numerous input, high input will only increase the size of a transaction which can make the fee very high. There are many complaints especially from people that have work with faucet sites before with their wallet having numerous number of input, the input  is high in a way the fee that will be paid will be high. There are even many cases the fee to be paid will be far higher than the bitcoin to be transfered. Consolidation is just the solution, in a way the whole balance is sent to a new address generated by the same wallet, this will result to the wallet with only one input in a way the fee will not be too high while making transaction next time. But the more transactions that are done the more addresses are also used, there will be need to always still consolidating.
5786  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin on high demand Africa nigeria and Malaysia on: January 04, 2021, 12:05:38 AM
I think Malaysia have stable currency compared to the other two.
Fiats are fiats, if you check real actual value and fiat index, you will know fiats are not just unstable, even the so called Malaysia fiat is not stable at all.

The other two countries could use bitcoin as their main currency but the problem lies with the implementation.
It is not possible for a country to use bitcoin as their currency, they will still prefer their fiat. But that does not stop bitcoin from progressing because bitcoin is not a country coin but world coin because it is meant to be decentralized. If people from a particular country like, they can hold bitcoin which is better than fiat.

In most cases that couldn't be done.
For now it is in all cases, and no case ever like that in a way country will use bitcoin as fiat.

5788  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to spot an Investment Scam on: January 03, 2021, 11:44:33 PM
The easy to fall for by ignorant people are scams, there are varying degrees and different types of cyber criminals now, most of the methods used to scam is not really different from time to time, but despite this, scam is still increasing daily. Many people that are scammed are greedy, not patient and not researching about offers, that is why such people are scammed until they learn lesson.

Example of scam can be through Google store, social media like Facebook and Twitter, scam can be of different types but having knowledge about it can completely help and protect against it.

I will like to add hacking, one of the ways to also scam, to avoid these kind of scam require people to have good knowledge about computers and other devices used to access online,  how the devices can be protected and ways to avoid these hackers because they are dangerous. That is why we are in the age of protecting our devices used to access online in a way to avoid malacious files not to be downloaded on the devices.

5790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Ask about RBF. on: January 03, 2021, 01:31:40 PM
It can not be possible to us replace by fee to reduce the transaction fee, I do not think it can even work, it can not work, you need higher fee to replace a fee which means you replace small fee transaction for higher fee so that the transaction will be placed in the next block. Only higher fee can be used to replace smaller fee for faster transaction confirmation.
5791  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Native Segwit vs Segwit on: January 03, 2021, 07:53:26 AM
P2PKH- legacy, bitcoin addresses that start with 1 are legacy addresses.
P2SH- addresses that start with 3 are nested segwit
Bech32- addresses that start with bcq1 bc1are the native segwit.

For more information about nested segwit
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0049.mediawiki

For more information about native segwit
https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0141.mediawiki

About transaction fee, native segwit is the cheapest.

Native segwit is also the one called segwit. Nested segwit are called compatible. Which means they question about native segwit and segwit is just that they are the same thing.

5792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The fate of privacy cryptocurrencies on: January 02, 2021, 10:23:28 PM
In this regard, privacy coins are coins that can not be tracked, unlike bitcoin which have a transparent ledger called blockchain which allows each bitcoin transaction to be tracked using address for example, privacy coins can not be tracked, sending such coins from one address to another can not be traced. Because of this it is said that these coins can be used to launder money and also can be used by terrorists in financing their missions. There are now threats that privacy coins like monero, dash and zcash will be delisted from exchanges as some exchanges have being delisted these coins already too, also that there are possible threats from governments to make sure such cryptocurrencies will no longer be existing.

What is the fate of privacy coins? I am thinking these type of coins will find it difficult and can later all vanish and exist no more.
5793  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Best Exchange of the 2020 on: January 02, 2021, 07:25:08 PM
Binance as being the best exchange of 2020, binance was the first and also with the highest trading volume, the trading volume is now more than $20 billion. Huobi global is the second according to coinmarketcap. What I still also know about binance is the low trading fee of 0.1% while the withdrawal fee is still one of the lowest.

Best SEX(Shit Exchange) for me goes to Hitbtc (flat rate withdrawal fee is ridiculous)
You are not wrong, the trading fee is still good for Hitbtc which is 0.1% for makers and 0.25% for takers, but the withdrawal fee is too high. Like if you want to withdraw bitcoin, it costs 0.0015 btc for withdrawal fee, even ripple withdrawal is very high which is one of the lowest with cheapest fee. Using the exchange for withdrawal is very discouraging because of the high transaction fee.
5794  Other / Archival / Re: .. on: January 01, 2021, 10:28:52 AM
Thanks, still I'd love to hear your opinion on this.  You're very experienced. Do you think there will be a correction in January?
I do not think January can be a correctional period, even if there is a little correction, very possible the bullrun will later takeover and surpass. But as for now it is not clear what is going to happen. If the institutions continue to invest, institutions like grayscale and microstrategy, also if new institutions are joining, all these can lead to the price of bitcoin to be increasing. We do not know if the institutions that drove the price above $20000 will be investing for long term. What is happening now are another thing that can not let us predict what the price of bitcoin will be anytime soon but let us know that it is more likely possible that bitcoin price will soar this year.
5795  Economy / Economics / Re: Will bitcoin ever succeed as a currency on: January 01, 2021, 10:18:10 AM
Bitcoin has already succeded as a money and as an asset already, but know that bitcoin can be called a cryptocurrency but not a currency. Example of a currency are papar fiat, they have no value, it is money that they are called that make the paper money have value which is the value in them. That said, bitcoin is already an established money and asset, it has become a time of institutions and many whales that are investing in it, it is well circulated all through the world and having a marketcap more than $500 billion now. It is clear about how it is possible bitcoin will hit $1 trillion, it can be next year,  the marketcap will be growing more and more in a way bitcoin will be the most successful money and asset on earth.
5796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It seems I got hacked. How to protect? on: January 01, 2021, 09:55:21 AM
Regarding password suggestion, just use password manager they make your life much secure and easier.
I will suggest password manager too for easy access of passwords, but there are some password manager than can sychronize your passwords online, I will not suggest such. But most password manager that I know are offline, they are the best in managing password securely. But it will be good to also backup the password offline, write them carefully on paper will be good for more means of easy password recovery.
5797  Other / Off-topic / Re: What are your plans in the year 2021 on: January 01, 2021, 09:36:18 AM
These are my plans:

1. I want to join better signature campaign and earn good
2. I will not joke with trading at all, taking it slow and patiently.
3. Also want to hold bitcoin

I wish bitcoin to just continue to increase in price, I wish the bull run has just started. It will be great if $50000 or more is achieveable as bitcoin price this year, this will help while holding.
5798  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Active in discussion thread and get merit with knowledge on: January 01, 2021, 07:44:25 AM
Shitposters are many and plenty in bounty hunting, that is correct. But some people do not know exactly what they need to post in bitcoin boards, many do not just want to work hard to be a ranked member. It is not only about posting in discussing threads (bitcoin boards) that determines to be given merit alone but also learning and posting what will make other members to merit posts.
5799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is cold storage better than coinbase? on: December 31, 2020, 02:13:08 PM
Cold wallet is the security while coinbase is the privacy invading, not only coinbase is the privacy invading wallet but many other wallets that are custodial and require verification to be fully functional. Aside privacy invasion, also is the inconveniences custodial wallet can pose, there are many coinbase users that says their account was blocked, freezed and some complains like that, cold wallets are noncustodial which means privacy. Not only that but also it stores private keys offline, while something offline will be hard to be known to hackers. For any recommendation, coinbase should not be there.
5800  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BITCOIN FORUM account opened today. So many questions.......lets talk anonymity on: December 31, 2020, 02:06:06 PM
For every coins or exchanges you switch to you can still be tracked,
There are many anonymous cryptocurrencies, examples are monero and dash. These coins can not be tracked because it is not possible to track the coins using blockchian. Making use of coinjoin or mixer are perfect but converting bitcoin to such anonymous coins like monero then back to bitcoin is also good which will make the bitcoin not to be traced to the previous transactions.
