581  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HOW TO INCREASE YOUR BITCOIN STOCK THE FASTEST WAY AROUND on: June 09, 2016, 03:38:12 AM
All of you guys have a point. But everything is bitcoin its a gamble since bitcoin price mayo go up and down its the nature of altcoins itself. But of course theres no other way around theres no risk theres no gain. Its always 50/50 so its up to you to decide.

But there is a HUGE diference between say holding BTC in a safe wallet long term.  And straight gambling with BTC.  Gambling the house always wins long term, so you are losing long term based on odds.  Just holding yes it is risky but at least your not facing a sure bet against you.

Bitcoin has always been high risk/high reward.  It is a new currency being digital there still is a lot to see if we get mass adoption.  Either way I would want to hold vs gambling from investment standpoint.  I see gambling as a hobby not a investment.
582  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hypothetical Question on: June 09, 2016, 03:32:59 AM
$500m=100,000 btc in one address... um.. goodluck

i think there is only one address with that amount right now
https://blockchain.info/address/3Nxwenay9Z8Lc9JBiywExpnEFiLp6Afp8v

its a multisig. so unless you had all the privkeys .. then you got no chance

It's $50M.  And besides, it's a hypothetical question.  Hypothetically one address can contain 1M bitcoins.  Grin
Not sure how one would cash out that much, though.  That much money coming out of nowhere is going to be noticed.

How much do you recon could be cashed out without causing such commotion?

None... the great thing about bitcoin is blockchain.  So it is easy to see how much is recieved and sent.  I suspect as soon as you started taking they would notice... and track it.   And some could argue you might be able to "wash" it again you would " lack moral character." in Danny's great terms to do so.

Also whoever has that would be very well off.  I imagine there would be substantial reward for you... so you eventually get caught I would think.
583  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain Antminer S9 on: June 09, 2016, 03:23:11 AM
Buying any hardware before the halving is just a big unnecessary risk in my eyes. Best case is you get to mine for 2 weeks on the gravy train and then everybody else catches up. Nice, you just made probably less than $100 more than somebody who had no risk of the halving. (claps)

With increased risk comes possible increased profit.  It is not a sure bet in any means, mining is getting harder and need cheaper electricity.  But if price rises (and it depends how high it goes) getting rewards before having could be much more profit.   I would guess it's more then 100 and in the hundreds... how many hundreds hard to say though.

We just don't know it is hard to say how much btc hopefully will go up to.  But in this game it is normally the ones that take a little risk that profit.  If you are looking for a sure bet not sure mining has been that for a while.  But I know many people including I have managed to do it and enjoy it very much.

The price of BTC going up has no impact on profitability. We are talking BTC ROI. If I rely on BTC increase to fiat ROI, I could have simply held the coin and made pure profit on the increase with none of the risk associated with mining. I can buy this miner for ~$2,200 today and have it return 2.5 BTC in a year. Or I could buy 2.5 BTC today for $1,450...

The only variable affecting BTC ROI besides downtown and power is network difficulty. I see no scenario in which difficulty allows this miner to ROI. BTC in < BTC out. There is no high risk, high reward. Only imoossible ROI, donation to Bitmain.

I'm not sure how you don't see BTC price impacting mining.  It HIGHLY can impact it.   I have X operating cost in USD per machine per month in electricity.  The longer the BTC stay's above that amount to run the longer I can mine.  Eventually.. I have to sell my miners as I do not have "free" electricity.

I see your point of buying 1 BTC = 1 BTC a year later even.  But BTC price highly impacts me as far as how long I can mine profitable.
584  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Antiminer S7 mining Farm on: June 09, 2016, 03:19:32 AM
OP too stupid to realize bitcoin halving in less than 32 days. He prolly knows nothing about dff jumping up due to S9 release. Well, the ignorant will inherit the hell.
Thank You bro for share your opinion i already bought the machine i can handle power and nosie but for S9 the prices is very high for me now and i know about bitcoin blocks will be 12.5 in 11/7/2016
No problem in this

It all depends I can where the extra mining day's before having can justify a higher price.    If bitcoin raises a lot in price those extra mining day's could be huge looking back.   We honestly don't know what the furture holds that far.  This entire part of forum is speculation, not fact for the reason it's hard to predict.

After a few month's we can likely look back and say ahh (insert correct speculator) had it right.  But as of now just to many variables to speculate them all.
585  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: June 09, 2016, 03:10:24 AM
Am I the only one worried that this Shandong Luyiton company now owns Canaan Creative and is also in bed with Bitmain?

that is bad if it is the case.

it also explains the 466 million price.

just buy yourself a monopoly .

If they do they will be hard to beat.  Those are the two companies we could count on with consumer gear.  So hopefully they remain split from a selfish standpoint.

But there is still some bigger "commercial" companies out there with BW and Bitfury.  And hopefully we see some gear for hobby/home from BW at a point.  But as of right now Bitmain seems to be king with S9 release.
586  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos Help a girl out my Bitcoin Talk account has been Hacked!!! on: June 09, 2016, 01:22:53 AM

More than a month wtf... If he doesn't have the time to maintain the site why not pass more privileges to trusted administrators?

I sent multiple email's to Email acctcomp15@theymos.e4ward.com  and also pm'ed a  signed message to Theymos .
Just be patient, there are others who have been waiting for more than a month to recover their account.

Why is it that support is so horrible on bitcointalk do they not have enough funding to maintain or?
lmao. AFAIK, only theymos does the account recovery.
Also, did you ever think that theymos have a real life as well?

I thought this was resolved and thread locked??? why is it re-opened again??

Why you breaking his balls on an issue that's not his fault? Even if he were 24/7 on here how does that prevent your account from being hacked?

Moderators please dispose of this thread... This is old Rehashed shit. Lock it up and throw it away already.

It would appear from security log she reset via security question multiple times: https://bitcointalk.org/seclog.php

I know OP will not like it but when resetting via security question can take a while sometimes.  I suggest locking this again and start a new thread as entire different issue this is not being hacked but security lock due to secret question.

Yea thats right, print that, and take an older book with hardcover, detach the hardcover from the book and then glue it to the back side of the paper.

Then you will have a solid sheet that wont tear apart.

You can also look at something such as laminate it to make it more water resistant if not proof.   It is kinda preparing for something that will never happen.  Also I suggest making more then 1.  They should be stored securely but having just one or in one spot is a bad idea as one point of failure.

Also I am kinda paranoid when I print one.  I make sure to run virus/malaware scans beforehand.  I also clear the cache of the printer.  It is something the dumber the printer you use really the better as you don't want it being in a cache or stored for any amount of time past printing.
588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Techniques on Earning BTC?? on: June 09, 2016, 12:08:58 AM
You can join an affiliate program:  https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Bitcoin_Affiliate_Programs

This is very hard to get into though as someone new. You have to ask why would someone use the new person's referral link to X service what do they get out of it?   I'm sure there are some that make a lot off referrals but I think it's a small subsection of a "elite group".

Also posting with referral kinda is harder to gain trust, you will look like your doing it for personal gain.  I just see a lot of uphill battle's to become very profitable.
589  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to create BTC wallet on: June 09, 2016, 12:03:59 AM
There are online and offline options, software based and web based options. For a newbie I would recommend coinbase.com

Coinbase have the best security as wallet online, but i will not trust anyone online (even with so good reputation like have coinbase). Giving someone else money to the care of never will be safe.
For start, as it was mentioned, or Electrum, or MultiBit.

The thing Coinbase has others dont is insurance in case of them being hacked.  It does not protect individual account's if you are the cause of losing account.  But if say their servers are hacked this insurance should cover losses.

It has never been tested though.... so it's a should but we have never seen it happen.  Which is really a good thing.  But you do giveaway things like access to your bitcoin through other wallets as with Coinbase you cannot get private key's.

As I mentioned in the s9 thread but certainly more on-topic here,
<snip>
IMHO it could well be that since Canaan Creative chose to be late to the 16/14nm node they (major stakeholders) decided to take the money and retire to a nice private island somewhere. As long as their IP does now belong to an "Angel" company with it's eye on the miner market (and we don't know that yet), then cool.

Even cooler would be if Avalon has low-node designs in the works but never put to silicon. With the new ownership it opens the door to them maybe using Global Foundries and go 14nm. Nice safe location (upstate NY) and as far as I know, GF is open to all customers.

I would not bet on them moving to "upstate NY".   I think they will continue to work with the foundries in China, I don't see change of ownership moving it to that but I could be wrong.  All speculation I guess.

My biggest thing is I hope they continue to sell to small customers like me and other hobby miners.  But guess time will tell on that.
592  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: June 08, 2016, 09:15:21 PM
... But very big new's will be interesting to see what comes out of Avalon after this.

At this news, I wonder if Avalon will ever release another product.

I'm hoping the company that bought them allows them to continue as they have been.  Hopefully they continue to sell direct to customers, and through BlockC.   Both were way's to purchase.

Something interesting now going to https://canaan.io/en/ I don't see a store but a email to order.  Did this just happen with being purchased? Or was it like this for a while I had not looked at it in a little while.
593  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which firm of mining hardware providers is the best one? on: June 08, 2016, 09:09:00 PM
Hi guys. That is pretty much my question.
Which firm of mining hardware providers is the best one?

I want to setup a mining rig (I have no problem with a free access to electricity) but I don't what hardware I need to buy. There are so much thing here: Antminer (a bunch of models), Bitfurry and other stuff. I have no financial problems and ready to invest 5000$ into my mining rig. Should I buy China or US made hardware? Which one is the best one?

Thanks a lot in advance of advise  Smiley

i'd rather choose antminer and fyi wait for a while after halving, i heard that bitmain will release s9, i don't know if its true or not.

S9 had been released and will ship on June 12th, in 4 days. Trouble is it's crappy, why everyone thinks it's mother's milk, I don't know. Bitmain hasn't released anything of quality and value since S3. Their S5 and S7 have sold well but that doesn't mean jack shit. Oftentimes, their gear goes up in flames if you look at it funny. China-built, China-quality. I hope you buy them and your house goes up in flames. Don't blame me, I told you so.

What would lead you to this conclusion?   The S7 has been ran by many many people including myself.  The S9 looks to follow the S7 so I predict it does well.   And it's efficiency no other miner on the market is close to is why everyone thinks it's great.   You have to see how it is a big jump in efficiency.

I'm guessing your trolling with the comment's about flames.   I think if anything someone using wrong gauge cable's or crappy Y cables is at fault, and cheap PSU's is more commonly reported.  Can you point to 1 house burning down due and cause being a Antminer?  I just have not seen it .... which again leads me to think your trolling.
594  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: im brand new and newbie answer this please on: June 08, 2016, 08:25:59 PM
All informations about ranks, activity, etc... you can find here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

You can buy an account on Auction section also to start with a highest rank account, so you can join a Signature Campaign since now and start earnings some satoshis, good luck!

I personally would not suggest buying an account.  I think it is a shady world in those who deal with accounts being bought and sold.  Take a look in meta and you will find different situations from buying/selling of them that are not good - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0 .  And person could come back one day say account was hacked and possible take account back from you.

And even if you end up with an account though it with no problems a LOT of them are crap on posts.  You will find some with huge amounts of offtopic like what did you last drink, what music you last listened to, etc.   Just posts that obviously meant to boost activity level.  And when applying to a signature campaign the better ones will see this and not want you.

So long story short I would raise a account and put effort into it.  Don't look for some shortcut though buying account.
595  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do I Get 0.0023 to 0.01 BTC Per Day on: June 08, 2016, 08:21:17 PM
if you are an advanced PC user, then for about 6-12 months you will be able to learn css/hmlt/js technology, and earn up to 10$ per hour or maybe more! everyone could learn web design  Wink

it is quite complicated to get $10 must learn to like it. better learning and a focus on trade. because it obviously could benefit more
trading is quite risky idea. for example trading alts can be considered as gambling if you dont have some reliable insider info. ofc bitcoin much more predictable

There are to many pump/dump altcoins.  It get's hard in trading to separate a crap one from one that will live on.  And even some good ones reach a peek then drop.  So speculation that is good enough to invest on is hard to have.

Look at ETH it was not really going anywhere.. then it started to shoot up.   Now it's gained a huge following and has a lot looking at investing.  So even if there are good alt coins it takes adoption to really get a big bump. And you can't really guarantee adoption of a coin by public.

596  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Avalon 7 on: June 08, 2016, 08:06:46 PM
Well this sure changes things if this is 100% correct, I wonder what the purchase plans are. Continue making home miners or challenge Bitmain for warehouse market.

Very interesting  it makes me wonder if they are closer to a Avalon 7 then I thought.  With a evaluation with that it seems the ones buying must see something there they would want... so maybe new chips? All speculations I guess.

I read it wrong for a second.  But very big new's will be interesting to see what comes out of Avalon after this.
597  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining after Halving 2016 on: June 08, 2016, 07:59:26 PM
I think that difficulty will go down,  with only 12.50 btc of reward mining will not be profitable for users with high electricity cost. But difficulty could increase in case that price of bitcoin have a big increase, and users buy new miners (more efficient).

The only thing is that having is not a secret so investors know now about having.  So I'm not sure the day of or right after there will be this huge jump.  I think we are seeing some gain's already of investors already buying coins.  So they won't wait till having I don't think.

Having will be interesting but I think price will not go crazy right away.  I hope I'm wrong though and value shoots up like crazy.
598  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Using Rigs for Mining?! on: June 08, 2016, 07:55:55 PM
I'm planning to use or rent Rig to do the mining. Is it advisable nowadays even though the halving is near?

Will it still be profitable if I rent now? I wanted to mine and earn more bitcoin before the halving. Any suggestions?! TIA!

Renting you almost always pay a premium, as the owner of the rig is trying to make extra profit.  So take whatever cost it would be to mine BTC for example they charge more then this for renting.

Some have gained money from solo mining huge amounts, or certain types of payment on pools that allow for luck.  But it is far from a guarantee of profit.    So for the most part I would suggest not renting.
599  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread june 7 to june 20 -picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.20 btc on: June 08, 2016, 07:50:25 PM
I think the negative is gear shutting off to make way for the new stuff.  My conspiracy theory of a ~30% attack to control difficulty is just that, a conspiracy theory.  Realistically I think this is the calm before the storm before the halving.

My hope for having is it finnaly get's some of the old machines off the network.  A cut in in profits will hurt us all... but old gear that has remained  on network might finnaly come off who knows.   I do agree we will see postive eventually as some will replace with new gear like S9 and for same amount of electricity will get a heck of a lot more hash.

The biggest thing I don't believe the conspiracy for is I think if someone has 30 percent they would want it online hashing away before having.  Just a lot of profit lost if they leave it turned off.

As far as value this period were starting around 580 on coinbase. So still a decent gain from last period hopefully we see some positive movement on price this time to.
600  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Increase my bitocins. on: June 08, 2016, 04:14:59 AM
Gamble on primedice with a 0.01% chance success and bet 0.1 btc.  You will have a chance to roll 0.01 and get 30 btw xD

Horrible idea on counting on gambling to increase bitcoins.  Gambling is a hobby, not a investmen in almost all cases.  With something like dice you cannot say there is any skill involved.  It is a game of chance.

With this chance there is profit on the 'house" side.  So long term if you did keep betting this over time statistically you should lose more then you win.  And at .1 BTC bet it is not cheap currently around 57 dollars. So many other good things you could do with it.  Even just holding .1 longterm beats the heck out of gambling it.
