581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does it looks responsible as woman telling husband you gamble? on: January 20, 2024, 06:38:18 PM
Gambling is never a bad thing and telling your husband that you gamble is the ideal thing to do. It will be bad if he finds out by himself.  By implication, he will feel that there are other things you might be hiding from him.

What matters in gambling is your ability to control the situation and manage your loss. However, since your involvement in gambling has not affected your relationship, lifestyle, or finances then, your husband will not pick any offense.

Don't be surprised that your husband might also be gambling. Hence, tell him. Men are overthinkers. Don't let him figure it out on his own. His reaction might be pathetic.

Brentford FC - Nottingham Forest

I still don't understand why Brentford is being seen as the favorite when in the last 5 games they have lost in 5 games, Brentford's situation is very serious, they are close to the relegation zone, on the other side we have Nottingham Forest who are recovering from the their bad results, in the last 5 games they had 2 defeats and 2 wins and 1 draw. Since they have 2 consecutive victories, in my opinion Nottingham Forest has a good chance of winning or drawing in this game. A victory for Nottingham Forest could move them further away from the relegation zone
Ivan Toney, who has returned from a lengthy FA suspension, has boosted Brentford's odds over Nottingham Forest; he is one of the best strikers in the league, and Brentford are fortunate to have him. He'll cause a lot of difficulties for Nottingham Forest's poor defense. It could be one of those goal garlor games.

The bad news for Brentford fans is that Ivan Toney will most likely move to a bigger team before the end of the January transfer window; he has stated an interest in moving, so it's only a matter of time and when the proper bid comes in.

It’s just the kind of start Arteta and the rest of Arsenal fans around the world would have hoped for and it was delivered. I don’t know those that were expecting so much of Crystal Palace but the team happens to be lacking in a lot of quality due to the on going AFCON. Talking about the likes of Oliseh, J. Ayew and they aren’t having Doucoure, how would you expect them to make much contest with an Arsenal squad that isn’t much changed. Crystal Palace had a good start but, it wasn’t obvious that Arteta was just going to seat out and endure them for like 20minutes before bringing his game plan. Unfortunately for Crystal Palace, Arsenal didn’t need to wait that long. Gabriel had his goal and then, he was just on fire with the set pieces.
Michael Oliseh is African origin but play for the French national team, he isn't at the ongoing AFCON. Micheal Oliseh is currently injured and will be out till February

They should hold up for a short while; J. Ayew will likely join them soon as Ghana is on the verge of being knocked out of the group stage.

You got the clear analysis of what happened between Arsenal Football club and Crystal Palace. On a normal day, Crystal Palace is one of those mediocre clubs that gives tough time to top flight clause especially when the three points is so important for the opposition club. But in today's meeting with Arsenal, I did not expect much from Crystal Palace because majority of their star players are from the African continent and they have gone for their African cup of nations.
AFCON or not they haven't won against Arsenal for two good seasons now and nothing was going to change it now. I'm sure no one expected them to win .
584  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 20, 2024, 03:48:05 PM
This looks like a temporary short term option. He will be useful this season and next (possibly) but next season he will already be 34, I don’t know why a club like Bayern should rely on older players because it only accumulates problems and does not solve them.
He has a contract with Newcastle until 2025 and, as I understand it, the club may not let him go. On the other hand, Newcastle now has a huge financial loss for the 22/23 season, and in order to correct it, it is expected that they will be forced to sell some players.
Age doesn't tell much about Trippier; he's still strong and one of the quickest players in the league, and the only reason this transfer will ever happen is to reduce wages because Trippier is one of their highest-paid players right now, and given his age, he fits the perfect category to cut off now that he's worth something before walking out for free next season when his contract expires.

If the transfer goes through, Bayern Munich will profit more because he is a Kimmich-type player who can play both defensively and offensively. The Bundesliga is less intense, and older players tend to survive longer there than in the EPL.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 20, 2024, 03:34:36 PM
After last two matches, Arsenal dropped points. I think this match will be a prove to the general public and their fans that they are back strongly to keep competing for the Premier League title because they need such a comeback in their performance in order to maintain their chance of being title contenders this season because they actually missed their chance, which will make them go above Liverpool in their last two matches.
Winning the first game of the year after dropping from first to third place with more games played isn't something to brag about just yet, especially against a poor Crystal Palace side that hasn't won Arsenal since Patrick Vieira first season in charge, and since he left, it's been a playing ground for Arsenal.

Quote
Nevertheless, Arsenal had a great performance today; they played well with the intention of winning the match because they really needed these three points. Arsenal has now moved to the third position with the same points as Manchester City and Aston Villa. This is a tough time in the Premier League. All the top teams with the hope of winning the league will be very focused on all their matches; they will not want to lose any match, and the match between them will be the determinant of their respective positions.
The league is currently too open to discussing title challenges, and we are approaching the point where losing a point could mean a lot, but we are not there yet. A lot might change for a few clubs that have some of their best players at the AFCON and Asian Cup if they stay longer than expected.
586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to manage gambling winnings on: January 20, 2024, 11:29:55 AM
investing is one of the best ways to use gambling winnings wisely. by using gambling winnings for investment, it will enable the gambler to be able to gain profits in the future which will improve the welfare of the gambler.

investing gambling winnings in investment assets is more profitable than having to save in banking. even though it is riskier, if the gambler understands the investment assets he wants to invest in, the investment should be less risky.

I agree with this view. Investment is a better way to manage gambling winning. The investment will bring returns and you can always fall back on your investment when the need arises. One can easily touch his savings when he is broke but then investment will always remain and the returns can help out in bad days.

Investment though not 100% secured but then there are investments with lesser risk. For instance, my first big winning was used to establish a laundry and a barbing salon and to date, I am still profiting from the investment. Most of my bills and even the money I use in gambling sometimes are generated from the investment. So, investment is better.
587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Will you be worried or comfortable seeing your elderly mother gambling? on: January 19, 2024, 10:42:15 PM
It is so discouraging to see an elderly woman gamble publicly. Women are naturally built to be mothers so certain lifestyles even if it's legal shouldn't be exhibited. Imagine if he has his son in the same gambling hall, imagine her calling "number 1 and 2 over 2.5" and his son calling "number 3 and 5 Goal Goal". How will people around view the family? I see that as an irresponsible act for an elderly woman to gamble in the open.

From another angle, elderly people are easily prone to high blood pressure so gambling should be prohibited for the elderly since losing a bet can easily make the heart beat faster thereby leading to high blood pressure which can cause death.

In addition, what kind of money will such an elderly person be looking to get from gambling? I know that gambling at that age means that the person has started gambling long ago because it will be difficult to develop gambling habits in old age. So, in old age, such a person should have given up on gambling and not gather with his sons and daughters to gamble.
588  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: January 19, 2024, 10:12:40 PM
This present generation children have a good pattern of learning faster and I don't suggest we should be sharing significant information that would expose them more.
Children of all generations learn by observation and so build up characters from the things they see around them. A child believes that whatever an adult does is right and so they easily pick interest in whatever activity their parents do.

This is so because a child's mind is empty and what fills the mind are the things the child sees. At this age, it is good for a parent to exhibit good character so that the child can emulate such and then grow up with it.

Looking at the nature of a child, it is bad to gamble in front of a child because they are ignorant of the negativities that come with gambling and so it will become difficult for them to handle such negatives if they dare involve in gambling.

I will advocate that when a child is caught gambling, and identify his parents as the source of the behavior, such a parent should be punished.
589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 19, 2024, 07:04:05 PM
At the moment it is known that he has a hamstring injury and if it is just a bruise/sprain, then he will miss the last game of the group stage and then return to action again. If this is a tissue rupture, then the consequences will be much more serious and he will miss more games (including in Liverpool). I would like to see how Klopp reacted to this news when he was told - it was probably something emotional, like how he behaves during games  Grin
I believe it was only a precautionary step to avoid a hamstring injury; he walked out of the pitch by himself, so I don't think it was serious, and if it was, he wouldn't be hopping and moving from angle to angle motivating his teammates the way he did yesterday with such enthusiasm. The last game is important he might risk it.

Klopp must have called him since yesterday, pleading with him to take the risk and skip the final group game. They have a league to chase and would prefer not to lose Salah to a long-term injury.  Grin

Despite knowing that Arsenal has drop form, I can't still say that Crystal Palace can get their way out of the game. With this their current form, Arsenal is still doing better than Crystal Palace on the pitch. For anyone who is always watching Arsenal games, they will know that Arsenal is still not that bad, even in their recent game that they lost to West Ham and Fulham. Arsenal was not just lucky in scoring recently; they always created good chances, but creating those chances to goals now is their big problem.
If they continue to rely on Saka and do not sign a proper striker this month, they will create several chances without scoring any.
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does the tension make you take risk that are sometimes worth it? on: January 19, 2024, 09:51:54 AM
There's no such thing about being fun in pressure on which it would really be totally opposite on which it isnt really that good and something that should be stopped.
Sometimes people are economical with the truth but then, the fun value of gambling is lost the moment it is done under pressure. Generally, working under pressure is never encouraged and this is the same when gambling under pressure. This is capable of making the gambler frustrated and the feeling of frustration is never good.

First, it takes a rich person to gamble for fun. No one can claim
of gambling for fun when he doesn't have money since the emphasis will always be on getting so rich from gambling and this person easily gets pressured.

In my thinking, nobody should gamble under a tense condition because when the outcome is not positive then wrongful acts become inevitable.
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: January 19, 2024, 07:46:10 AM
It has to do with the mindset my friend, this mindset of being happy when I lose might be ugly to any but I started practising it in trading and it is helping me so well.

I agree with this view. Whether it's for fun or not depends on the mindset of the gambler. Gaming for fun doesn't mean there are no bad days, it only means that the gambler doesn't depend on gambling to become rich. With this mindset, it is always a win-win. When he loses he feels nothing, when he wins he gains excitement.

It is good we understand that people who gamble for fun have always had more wins due to the fact that they make fewer selections thereby increasing the chance of winning and overall, they always win.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 19, 2024, 07:07:24 AM
Identifying a problem is the first step to solving the problem. The OP has identified that gambling is making him feel depressed which means that he has realized that it is a problem in his life. Thus, the following should be done:

1. Deactivate all your bet accounts
2. Surround yourself with people who don't gamble.
3. Try to avoid gambling platforms on social media
4. Visit a counselor

Try these guides they will be helpful.
593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: cashout or wait till the end? on: January 19, 2024, 06:42:05 AM
However the amount offered is also very important, and if you are a good investor you could easily make out some of the difference by just investing in bitcoin and hold for longer than a year, so if I was in that position I will get the money and never look back.
This is exactly what every rational mind will do. But then certain questions always surround the mind of a gambler in deciding whether to cash out or not. The gambler always considers his stake, number of games remaining to win the bet, the disparity between what has been given as cash out and the potential win.

However, flowing from the analogy given, the gambler has made so much already and so cashing out the game is the perfect option reason been that he will be making x300 of his stake which is a very huge profit. In addition, only a greedy person or someone who doesn't understand the nature of gambling will not cash out that game.

Sometimes, what I do when I have a reasonable cash out is that, I cash out the game and then re-stake on the other games remaining in a bid not to lose out completely. I will advocate here that, gamblers shouldn't be greedy by aiming to win so much in one bet. Win little by little and you will get the best out of the game.
594  Other / Off-topic / Re: Who does gambling addiction affect the most? on: January 18, 2024, 12:52:56 PM
The gambler will not feel the bad effects, but instead, his family will feel it, so this requires awareness from the gambler to see the reality of what is happening in front of him so that he can realize that he has done the wrong thing.
Not true, the gambler still has a share of the effect. The gambler is affected both mentally and emotionally. The gambler must feel bad losing money and becoming unable to feed his family and that feeling is capable of driving him into doing something wrong.

But then, dependants shoulder more of the effect. This is so because, as a dependant, you rely completely on the gambler (parents/guardian) and then a slack on the person's finances means a slack in the standard of living of the dependant. When this is the case, the dependant will be so frustrated and maybe show an obnoxious attitude towards his parent/guardian (gambler) as a way of registering his grievance.
595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 18, 2024, 10:05:53 AM
Even though gambling can be a hope restorer or a life changer, we must remember that it is difficult because we will be faced with defeats that can take our money at any time.
I agree with this view.  Grambling will always be a game of probability where the chances of losing is always greater than the chances of winning and that is why every gambler, rich or poor, new or old, has a pain to share. Though, some handle this pain in a way that it appears normal while others do not.

This tells us that before gambling restores hope, most of the time, it creates hopelessness and frustration which is why there is constant agitation to stop it. People are languishing due to gambling but then one cannot deny the fact that it has changed lives and restored hope to some persons.
596  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Advice when you are going a bit far in gaming and betting on: January 18, 2024, 09:42:49 AM
Without thinking about future doing any kind of work is fully foolish work. If you are not thinking about future then you will face big problems in your future life. Without future plan no one can lead a beautiful life. Because you are westing their economy rickless you dont do savings for your future life. That's the reason thik about future and and do gamble safely.
I agree with you it has often been said that failure to plan, is planning to fail. Without a blueprint, no one can achieve anything, and gambling is not exempted from this universal truth. It is good to make gambling work for you and not become a slave to gambling because of your inability to control your loss.

A lot of people can't boast of anything because they were all lost to gambling. This justifies the necessity for a plan. A gambler who is concerned about the future will not allow gambling addiction to ruin it. Such a person will set a budget and stick to it knowing that not sticking to it means destroying the plan which will affect his prospects.
597  Other / Meta / Re: Have the rules of the DT system and Forum rules amended ? ? theymos on: January 18, 2024, 09:06:20 AM
Obviously, Theymos doesn't think that the current level of abuse is significant enough for him to change the rules. But eventually, as more people start complaining about the unjust use of the trust system, he will likely come up with a different plan, or at least, that's what he usually does, fix things.

But they won't, because things aren't actually that bad, and nobody will offer a better solution that the majority can agree upon.

It is only because the current system indeed works that borovichok (OP) got his negative trust removed and is once again freely spamming shitposts contributing to the forum.
Those who are breaking the system always look for anything to back it up, even if it is clear that the system is completely broken. theymos is wandering around the forum with an incorrect red tag simply because someone disagreed with him. theymos is not stupid he knows that the system is broken and he must be working on something, might take some time to implement but it will happen.

Yes, I had my red removed for speaking out (it wasn't intended to be there in the first place if the system was working properly), and I was right; however, what about hundreds of others who are unable to speak up against theirs?

Cool boys left inappropriate tag => the powerless cries for help=> cool boys removes inappropriate tag. Rinse and repeat. A show of power.

Come to the meta to say someone got his tag removed so the system is perfectly working. Bra bra...
598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 18, 2024, 09:04:15 AM
How can one control the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on once life.

It's getting worse every day. I'm extremely depressed I have thoughts of unaliving myself more often, some times I feel the betting companies manipulate people spiritually to get them addicted where be playing without plans and strategy. Once a bet place get cut, there is this uncomfortable urge to quickly book another one with the plans of recovering the first money lost but it will end up cutting again.
Literally, whatever is uncontrollable cannot be controlled but then  the urge to gamble is controllable even though it is not easy because addiction generally is very difficult to control. I will make some suggestions on how the urge can be controlled.

First, need for self help. This means that a gambler must first of all understand and accept that gambling causes more pain to him. It is this realization that will make him seek for ways to stop because someone cannot seek a solution when there is no problem.

In addition, there is a need for a daily, weekly, or monthly target. What this means is that a gambler should set aside a specific amount of money he must use to gamble in a day whether he wins or not. Once he exhausts the amount, that's all about gambling for that day.

Furthermore, he should control his greed. By this, I mean that he shouldn't gamble with the hope of becoming a millionaire overnight but he should learn to build up gradually. With this, he will reduce the risk and that can guarantee him more winning probability.
599  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling by financial dependents. on: January 18, 2024, 08:46:35 AM
In as much as your nephew has reached the legal age to gamble as stipulated by many jurisdictions, the fact that he is still a dependent, he shouldn't gamble. He is currently building an addiction and there is a stage he will get to he can do anything to satisfy that urge to gamble.

Even if he doesn't resort to stealing, he might use funds meant for payment of bills to gamble, and in the end, his mom will face the consequences of such behaviour.

Gambling by a dependent should be seriously frowned upon because it will amount to throwing away the money laboured by another person. My advice is that his mom should reduce the money he gives to him because that can also reduce the money he uses from gambling.
600  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 18, 2024, 12:07:41 AM
Gambling can be a life saver too for it's not as bad as non-gamblers portrays it. To all gamblers' when you get lucky make good use of your gambling win do not chase for double portion.
I agree with you. Of truth, gambling has impacted positivity in the lives of a lot of persons. It is worrisome when people tend to paint gambling so bad without considering that it is a life safer. Gambling is something capable of changing a story and bringing someone out of poverty in a twinkle of an eye. Interestingly, it is the belief that gambling can turn life overnight that makes it difficult for people to give up on gambling no matter the amount lost.

However, whether or not a person uses the money won from gamble in a good venture depends on the individual. But then, it is often encouraged to put money won in gambling to good use because winning is not guaranteed all the time.
