I have actually measured the power consumption.

Mining scrypt i need 1150 W, mining DRK i need 650 W.

So it depends on what side you are looking

If you say i need x % more to mine scrypt instead of X 11 you have to calculate from 650W -> 1150 W = + 76%

If you say i nedd X% less to mine x11 instead of scrypt you have to calculate from 1150W -> 650 W = - 43%

So i need 43% less power to mine X11 instead of scrypt and my GPU´s came from 82C down to 60C and fand speed from 4200Upm to 2800 UPM

I use 2 x HD 7990 - scrypt 2.6 MH against 8.3 HM X11

in terms of the influx of asics now and in the near future, what is the difference between vertcoin and an X11 coin like Hirocoin? I know this is a vertcoin thread, but what is the reason behind supporting vertcoin over hirocoin?

VTC has a big community. HIRO is only pump and dump as often seen before

Hi all,
I am kinda new to Vert, but I wanted to get some feedback as to what the future will behold with N-Factor vs Asic Scrypts? I don't fully understand how it works and if will be able to fend off these things in the future? Any info would be great!
memory requirements increase over time, and memory is expensive, so makings asics is more expensive too

Any experiance with 7990 GPU ?

I can´t get out more than 4 GH. Another user in the DRK section get´s aout 4.4 GH.

On Scrypt i can get 1.4 GH with HD 7990
MH or GH?

MH :-)

Anyone tried mining with a 7990? Any good? I have one used for CAD work, but at night.......
I have four 7990:s hashing.

Mine are doing around 2200Khs per core / 8800-9000Khs / card.

edit: i run 2x7990 on 1x Corsair rm 850w without problems. I have two identical setups.

Are you sure you can run both cards incl. all other ( motherboard, fans, HDD etc.) on 850 W.

Only my two cards using 1000w if the are stressed on 100% minging LTC

Is there a difference using the X11 algo by mining DRK and scrypt coins like LTC?

X11 consumes like 40% less electricity, someone ppl already measured their exact consumtion diff in this topic few pages before. But it can be also guessed since the heat generation of the cards is also 30-40% lower atleast.

And how would two 7990 pull 1000 W? They have 2 8-pin connectors. This means 2*150 + 75 W (from the Motherboard) which equals in 750 W max for the cards. If you then take CPU, mobo, ram, hard drive into consideraton you're at around 870 W. X11 consumes about 30% less power -> 609 W. From the wall more because no PSU is 100% efficient. Gaming would probably not be possible with such a small PSU, but GPU mining for sure Smiley

The 2x8 pin connector has 3 x 18 AWG wire. 150 W is the official announced standard for the 6+2pin connector. It can much more than 150 W.
For sure, if X11 can run on much more lower power it could work. I will test it and post results.
I have read some reviews and the said 7990 has 505W under 100% stress.
My rig using two of them also has 1100 watt when is checked it before. My PSU is 1200W

I have tryed to mine Hiro by testing Sgminer and i have noticed and was surprised by the low temp during mining, but i was not sure if i was completly on the right way with my settings. With my two 7990 i got 7.8 mh.

As i did not checked that wattage from the rig i was sure it would be more profitable to mine VTC than DRK. I have to check the wattage
and recalculate. It´s even much better for the hardware mining DRK than VTC if we end no same profitable level.
Future way is to go and baghold DRK and VTC.

Problem with p2pool is simple. It is too large. That leads to high share difficulty which causes low hashrate miner very low probability of getting share. Yes, if you hash for example a month, your income 'should be' average, but with bad luck, you may also get almost nothing. Or if you mine few days without luck, not getting share, and then left, you just wasted your hashrate completely. This is caused by nature how p2pool is working. Only solution I see is to create more than one p2pool network to allow hashrate redistribution. At current time, forget about mining on p2pool if you have less than about 1Mhs, coz probability of getting share at such hashrate is about 3 hours.

As i set up vertminer new i won´t let it run alone over night and so i powered down the miner yesterday evening after 6-7 hours mining withou getting a payout.
This morming i started again and within 1 hour i got first payments. So i don´t understand why, but now it is working. Each block that is found now a got my share.

new miners incomming thanks to coinwarz!  Wink

Yes, we could do with a few at vtcpool.co.uk!

One of the longest running, most trusted VTC pools around

P2Pool (recommended) and traditional pool available for VTC

P2Pool: http://p2pool.vtcpool.co.uk:9171
Traditional MPOS pool: https://vtcpool.co.uk

P2Pool setup guide and FAQ

Why use p2pool?

  • Mined coins are deposited directly in your wallet in the generation payment for the block,
they are never held by a pool wallet and can't be lost due to failures or hacking/thefts
  • Even if the node you connect to fails, you don't lose the coins you mined - your shares are distributed on the network
  • Distributed (less vulnerable to DoS attacks, less chance of big pools having enough hashrate to be capable of a 51% attack)
  • Private (you are paid with coinbase transactions and your public key is never seen on the network until you spend the funds)

Feel free to use https://vtcpool.co.uk if you prefer a traditional pool. Especially, users with lower hashrates may find earnings
are better on the traditional pool. There is room for a mixture of pool types, but please help further strengthen the decentralisation
of Vertcoin by using p2pool if it works well for you.

To mine on p2pool, use your VTC address as username, and any password, so your command line should be like:

vertminer -o stratum+tcp://p2pool.vtcpool.co.uk:9171 -u Vw44xQPqgwbqZVpRzPoHe6M4jAGYceiZZP -p x

Please follow the advice in the P2Pool setup guide and FAQ about setting your minimum
share difficulty - this will prevent HW errors and stales and improve your mining income.

I was mining yesterday abou 6-7h hours with 630kh and got not only one payout. Am i doing somthimg wrong ?

so many miners hoped onto VTC, profitability is goig to be equal as LTC in very near time, am wondering what will price and diff do, but maybe vtc times are comming Smiley ltc next diff is lower than actual, but its many times normal after diff change, but its interesting to watch whats happening and what will happen Smiley

We had  a diffi change since yesterday from 100 -> 170. One spike with 40 GH at once from one miner.
Looks like a lot of coins coming in for sale from this miner. Price will fall again and diff is high.
What a shit :-(

Hi,

i have  problem with my rig, can you please help me. I think Vertminer has killed my GPU´s

Yesterday i installed BAMT V1.6 and tested CGminer and vertminer.
All looks like fine. Each GPU temp was around 80°C. I have two HD 7990.

While mining with vertminer after 6-8 hours my rig shots down.
After new start it always shots down after mining a short while. I always have to restart it.
Somtimes i can start mining, somethimes it hangs up after booting and starting mining automatically.

To check if everythin is ok with my rig i used my old USB stick with old BAMT cgminer version.
Also here it shuts down after mining a while. After booting windows7 on the same rig and starting
vertminer is also shuts down imeditially after starting vertminer.

GPU´s dead ?

Thanks for help

Could it be a PSU problem? First thing to test, get all your GPUs from the rig and test them single one by one. If you get some hdd or ssd you can run some graphic tests also. Check also temps of VRMs on your GPUs while stressing them.

Checkep first card single - is working fine. Maybe you are right, could be a PSU problem.
Up to now it was working with the 2 cards and the existing PSU.
Maybe Vertminer makes the GPU´s working harder and need more power from PSU.
Will check the second card later in single mode.
Thanks

woohooo  Grin

but on this diff and current price of 600 sat it´s not that what we can came profitable to mine

Hi,

first time i am using sgminer ( BAMT V1.6.0 ) on linux base.
I have a rig with 2 x HD 7990 ( 4 x GPU 7970 ) bringing me 2.4 MH with cgminer mining a simple scrypt coin like LTC.
Each GPU has around 84°C with mining LTC.

Now sgminer shows me 6.6 MH for my rig and GPU´s are only around 60°C.
Am i doing something wrong or is that normal ??

Different algorithm ... that's normal Smiley

Means my gpus not need to work on such a high temp und high fan speed and getting good mining results.
What hashrate for the algo can i expect for normal 2.4 MH scrypt, means do i have try to optimze my rig.

I don´t not have to sell my rig because of upcomming asics and useless gpu miners in cryto scene ?
