So why this belief or do you think it could be true? Or is it one of those superstitious belief among gamblers? Do you feel cool sharing your predictions with other people and how has the outcome been looking at all the times you have shared your predictions with others?
I think a lot of that is just mumbo jumbo but a lot of people have some odd superstitions about gambling. I think one of the most well known one is that rubbing a rabbits foot for good luck, or wearing the same shirt every game day, doing the same routine in the exact same way every time or else they think they will lose the game etc etc. I don't think any of these things make a difference personally but to each their own. You have to do what helps you and makes you feel good about your risky behaviors!!! In a way I would say it is a coping mechanism because there is high stakes and lots of anxieties when one gambles.

I recently came across this article that talks about how much gambling is basically becoming a 'global health crisis' I found this very interesting because i've always known it was an addiction for some people, but I guess covid really sparked the gambling itch for so many people, and people in the industry have been able to manpulate the government in what would be seen as a conflict of interest to have more influence in law and government to help right the wrongs that they created and help bypass a lot of corporate responsibility. Here is the article: https://www.vice.com/en/article/88xvw3/gambling-industry-is-using-big-tobaccos-playbook-health-experts-warn?utm_campaign=later-linkinbio-motherboardvice&utm_content=later-38076005&utm_medium=social&utm_source=linkin.bioHere are a few clips from the article that stood out to me: "The experts, who work at universities in Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and Tanzania, together published an editorial in the peer-reviewed journal Health Promotion International this month arguing that the gambling industry has become “one of the most innovative health-harming industries of recent times,” in part by operating “from a similar playbook” to the tobacco and alcohol industries. The experts say the development poses “widespread threats to global public health.” " "In the U.S., the popularity of online gambling has grown rapidly in recent years, fueled in large part by an aggressive lobbying campaign by the sports betting industry to legalize the practice across the country. As of 2023, sports betting is legal in more than 30 states around the country. The rise of online gambling in the U.S. and abroad has led to a rise in the number of young men grappling with gambling addiction, which can cause financial and psychological issues for both the gamblers and those around them. As many as half of people with a gambling addiction suffer with suicidal ideation, according to the Nevada Council on Problem Gambling. The “omnipresent” and loosely regulated barrage of gambling advertisements online and on television—often featuring a celebrity endorsement— have only helped to further normalize the industry to children at a young age, the authors state, adding that educational programs and treatment programs for children to learn about responsible gambling have even begun to be sponsored by the industry itself." If anyone on here is suffering from a gambling addiction and you are experiencing signs of self harm and feel that you cannot stop DO NOT BE SILENT! Seek the help of your family and friends, no matter how embarrassing you may feel. It could honestly save your life and save your well being. I just thought that this was really important to share. Good luck and be safe out there guys! TREAD

Thanks for sharing that m8, kids are always watching and you never know what they will pick up, even if they are only 1 year old! My kid picked up a sponge yesterday on the floor and was scrubbing anything and everything and he knew exactly what he was doing. Ironic that I am using this as the example, but kids really do soak every bit of stimulus up like a sponge. With gambling it is very important to shield them from this habit I would 100% agree.

Mine isn't from gambling or sports or gaming, it's actually on a being like myself, I have a friend who is handicapped, and I am the only one who knew he is a very strong guy, so we all all outside one day doing some exercises and a group of guys are coming back from the gym, so we had some conversions and that's where they challenge me to 40 push-ups, then someone bought up the idea of placing a bet, I won their cash and I created a joke saying, 40 push ups is nothing, that even my friend here can do it easily..
They all stared into their eyes and one said its impossible, and then another bet was placed and to their surprise my friend who is a handicapped beat the challenge, bearly though but he won, took their money and we called it a day.
He later revealed that he is used to 20 and 30 range, but he is short of money right now so he needed to get that money, lol, we cracked some jokes about it and till today we still talk about that day.
This is a good story!!! You pretty much hustled them hahahha. You can't feel bad on that one though because you helped your handicap friend get some money that he needed. Kind of robinhoodish, taking from the rich and giving to the poor in a sort of way, eh? Thanks for sharing! I think for me it wasn't something that I did but something that I bet my brother to do for $10. I convinced him to jump into the putt putt waterfall pool when it was already pouring rain for $10 and it was hilarious. He actually ended up having a lot of fun, he had so much fun that our cousin went in to join him thinking I would give him $10 as well (which I didn't lol) we ended up getting kicked out of that place after that hahahha

I'll take it back to a classic movie: Caddy Shack. At one point towards the end of the movie there is a huge wager placed on a round of golf between the two guys in this scene: https://youtu.be/FUDeGD-Qox4?si=HuN1YnHjQPuGc7o5 the caddies are all watching behind the bushes and they're placing some side bets on anything and everything. One of the bets was that the nephew of one of the players who was a goof ball would pick his nose and he did, they doubled down on it and said I bet you he eats it for double! And he did. I always chuckled at that scene, but it always made me wonder what other kind of ridiculous bets that other people make. Here is the scene: https://youtu.be/E-jlQS-Wuc0 Hope you all have a good laugh on this and if you haven't seen it watch the movie!

Of course you are paying for the “dream” or opportunity. Otherwise people would have to be crazy to play at all. I’ve always said that lotteries are taxes on people who are bad at math, but more honestly they’re for people who have no hope of getting rich through investment knowledge or by building companies, this is their long shot hope at a different life.
Saw this post the other day some dude went to the gas station just to buy a sandwich and bought a scratch off and won 2 million. Ima need to grab a sandwich hold my beer hahaha. Sometimes people just get stupid lucky and random impulse buy a lotto ticket without even thinking of probability or possibly, they just wanted a sandwich lmao

I first gambled on a cruise ship, I was only 16 years old but I looked old enough because I was tall. Turned 10 bucks into about 180 then lost it all in one swoop! They even brought me a drink while I was watching people play dice haha, that was a lot of fun. Ever since then I never had an urge to gamble in casinos

It's nice to see so many posts touching on responsibility and discretion with gambling. I think a lot of people will start to feel convicted and hopefully realize that they need to get on the right track. I personally have always tried to refrain from any gambling in casinos or games or anything like that. The most I really ever do is gamble a specified some at the beginning of a fantasy football season.

Man, taking that into account its like holding onto fire for a gambling addict, you are sure to get burned. Using your credit card is already a gamble and an instant loss of 20-30% interest or more if not paid off right away and that compounds. What a risky business. Only gamble with money that you can afford to lose.

I guess it depends on which kind of gambling to tell how addictive it is. Like going to the casino or buying scratch offs? What is your gambling problem exactly? If you're wasting all of your money then definitely quit, seek some help from loved ones or professionally to ensure you quit. Also start looking back into your faith, my heavenly father has always helped me when I asked. Make sure you pray and make your requests known, but first thank him for this struggle, because you are going to gain something from all of this loss....
