Noticed that [ANN] KawPowMiner v1.2.3 - first miner for KawPow algo [AMD/Nvidia+Win/Linux] posted by KawPowBoo had phishing links for wallet downloads
Code:
Real: Windows: https://github.com/RavenCommunity/kawpowminer/releases/download/1.2.3/kawpowminer-windows-1.2.3.zip
Fake: Windows: https://github.com/RavenCommunlty/kawpowminer/releases/download/1.2.3/kawpowminer-windows-1.2.3.zip
Thread trashcanned
Archived: https://archive.vn/HTSbC

OP's account was locked.
Definitely had the good github repo and edited it later on. As OP admitted he was hacked (but I call BS on that)

Another one for the list I guess...

P.S. sent a merit to the first guy who mentioned the link issue before trashing the thread (just so we're clear on that  Tongue )

@Valentin20 am doua sfaturi pentru tine:
- nu investi mai mult decat esti pregatit sa pierzi
- daca tot cauti un site similar cu cel mentionat macar alege unul mai nou. Ala deja are 3 ani. In cazul in care toti cei care au postat pana acum au dreptate, desi putin probabil, vei avea posibil sanse mai mari de retragere la inceput. Mai rar teapa din prima zi pe sume mici.

Sa ne auzim cu bine!

Back then there was no restriction about that. Any user could set up an avatar regardless of his rank.

585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it worth hosting a lightning node? on: June 17, 2020, 02:54:38 PM
Take this with a grain of salt as Xian01  tried this "experiment" in Jul 2018. Different values may have changed meantime

...
How much money can you make on running a Lightning Network node?

In order to start making money on running a node, you have to open a few channels and encourage others to open a channel back. Keep in mind that built-in autopilot might not guarantee you the best connections. Don’t expect to make a lot of money. Everything depends on the number of connections and your fee policy. The less you charge, the higher your chances to route a payment are. Don’t set the fee too low. You have to save up money for future channel re-balancing. User Xian01 opened almost 200 channels and earned barely 15 satoshis after 2 weeks (Reference).

5. Am renuntat si asa a aparut Zubilica2 Smiley (lipsa de inspiratie)

Mai putine info aici https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177529.0

In cazul in care nu ai renuntat 100% sugerez sa mai incerci o data.

Mai documenteaza-te in legatura cu monedele consactare (ce fac, cum fac, de ce fac) si compara-le cu pi. Si dupa trage concluziile.

Multa bafta !
589  Other / Meta / Re: Ban locked threads in Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Altcoins) on: June 08, 2020, 11:53:51 AM
AFAIK, this only applies to flags and not negative feedback, any user can create a flag, and if they have more support than opposition, it would appear at the top of threads made by the suspected account.
Negative feedback is visible on the users trust rating.

Seems you're right. Got a bit confused I guess   Tongue
Hard to find the perfect solution
590  Other / Meta / Re: Ban locked threads in Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Altcoins) on: June 08, 2020, 10:22:29 AM
A rank barrier would mean scam websites would pay higher for a member+ ranked member to create their thread, this would reduce the problem, buy will not solve it. Also threads can be locked even if they're not self-moderated.
Newbie restrictions is also not something favoured by the admins

I would suggest a banner, such as the trust flag, which would appear above a post should users suspect it was made with malicious intent. This could work like a negative bump, if enough users flag a post, in addition to it dropping down the pages, it also carries a warning, such as; "This thread is suspected to contain suspicious links, apply caution while interacting with it"

I wasn't talking about scam projects. Some of them are in it for the long term scam and it's not obvious to everyone at first. Was mainly suggesting this to prevent the fake ann, the ones with malware etc.

If a DT member gives a negative to the user there is a banner that would appear for users with less than 7 days login time

Warning: One or more bitcointalk.org users have reported that they believe that the creator of this topic displays some red flags which make them high-risk. (Check their trust page to see the detailed trust ratings.) While the bitcointalk.org administration does not verify such claims, you should proceed with extreme caution.

These warning banners will disappear when you have 7 days of login time. You should familiarize yourself with the trust system before then.

So at least there's that.
591  Other / Meta / Re: Ban locked threads in Alternate cryptocurrencies > Announcements (Altcoins) on: June 08, 2020, 08:23:13 AM
Another idea would be to allow only Member+ to make selfmod threads in certain boards like ANN, miners or any other board where users announce smth and provide download links...

It is in "games and rounds" and offers BTC.
Altcoin giveaways are not allowed Smiley

Who else to put as a moderator in a Bitcoin forum other than one of its biggest opponents aka Mike Hearn? Good job with your suggestion. Roll Eyes

You don't have to like the guy (no really, you shouldn't !) but happened to develop BitcoinJ (among others). That's all I said.
I can respect who he was and hate who he became at the same time.  Wink

- Development & Technical Discussion \ Wallet software \ Electrum: remove ThomasV from moderators list; although, according to tranthidung's topic List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs, Andreas Schildbach appears as having mod privileges, considering that he was last seen online on March 21st, 2019, most likely he is not moderating this section
- Development & Technical Discussion \ Wallet software \ Bitcoin Wallet for Android: remove Andreas Schildbach from moderators list; although, according to tranthidung's topic List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs, Andreas Schildbach appears as having mod privileges, considering that he was last seen online on February 13th, 2018, most likely he is not moderating this section
- Development & Technical Discussion \ Wallet software \ BitcoinJ: remove Mike Hearn from moderators list; although, according to tranthidung's topic List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs, Andreas Schildbach appears as having mod privileges, considering that he was last seen online on March 29th, 2016, most likely he is not moderating this section
- Development & Technical Discussion \ Wallet software \ Mycelium: remove Rassah from moderators list; although, according to tranthidung's topic List of the forum's admins/ global moderators/ staffs, Andreas Schildbach appears as having mod privileges, considering that he was last seen online on February 9th, 2020, most likely he is not moderating this section

Might wanna fix that, they are not all Andreas Schildbach.

- Who better to be displayed as moderator for Electrum board than the guy who invented it aka ThomasV ? Even if he may not be active. At least for recognition if not anything else
- Who better to be displayed as moderator for Bitcoin Wallet for Android board than the guy who invented it aka Andreas Schildbach ? Even if he may not be active. At least for recognition if not anything else
- Who better to be displayed as moderator for BitcoinJ board than the guy who invented it aka Mike Hearn? Even if he may not be active. At least for recognition if not anything else. Also you think "most likely" Mike Hearn in not moderating that section ? Really ?
- Who better to be displayed as moderator for Mycelium board than the guy who invented it aka Rassah ? Even if he may not be active. At least for recognition if not anything else

PS none of them were mods. They are just shown there for users to see the dev. Might have lost some of it's usefulness over the years but IMO should remain for posterity.
596  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for improving user experience when reporting posts on: May 29, 2020, 11:10:23 AM
I thought about that too, but, somehow, I forgot to add it in the OP. I also don't understand the 300 good reports "barrier".

It's more of a milestone IMO. To incentivize users to reach a minimum of X good reports to receive a certain perk.
If every user here would have at least 300 good reports things would definitely look different  Tongue

Additionally, I remembered also another suggestion which I forgot to mention in the OP: maybe there should be more resolutions for the reports, not just "good" and "bad". For easier understanding of the bad reports, maybe these could be classified in more types: one of them could be "duplicate". Another status could be "will not handle" - this can be used for those reports which, for one reason will never be handled.

The "duplicate" sounds fine but not that common to implement. It doesn't happens more than 0.1% of the time (100% guesstimated stats, so don't quote me on this)

Besides, maybe the mod's username could be added for each solved report. Thus, in case of bad reports, the reporters could ask the mod why the respective report was considered as bad. This way, the reporters would also understand why some reports are considered as being bad.

Mod's username = more drama. Also last time you received a feedback you opened a thread about it so at the end it still boils down to that (discussing in a thread).
Also an additional field where mods can leave some feedback sounds nice but would be very time consuming and in some cases would be the spark that lights the flame to more drama.

For example, I reported several shilling of some members and all the reports were good. Then I reported the exact type of posts of other members and all were marked as bad. Thus, as a reporter, I'm wondering: why was post X considered good and post Y was considered bad, if both have the same pattern?

Different mod, different board, different post in the thread (some OP some just regular posts), on-topic shilling (jk) Cheesy ... there are lots of variables.
Might also wanna give reporting spam, low value, repetitive sig spam bs, bumps, malware etc a try. They tend to grow on you!

I recommend (re)hacking it to add in a few particulars that are missing from the original:

1) priority text within reports (e.g. [P1], [P2], etc. prefixes)
  • I order it from 1 (malware) being maximum priority to 5 (2+ bumps/day) being minimum priority
2) page-wide report for spam

A prefix method is highly prone to abuse and pretty subjective. Things some users might feel they should have max priority: "paid for X and did not get product", "doxxin", "insulting/swearing", "defaming me and my business", etc IMHO just writing "malware" in that comment box would give it enough priority.
597  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for improving user experience when reporting posts on: May 28, 2020, 07:06:24 PM
I like the first suggestion and it would be a useful addition.

I thought of something else. Why is it not possible to tick multiple posts in a thread and report them all for breaking the same rule?
For example, you find a thread with 3 off-topic replies. You tick all 3 and instead of opening a new tab for each report and writing 3 reports, you write only one report with links to those 3 off-topic replies.

Then use suchmoon's script as hoseinnimr93 said [HACK] One-click mod report, not for the faint of heart

It works as advertised: one click wonder :p
598  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestion for improving user experience when reporting posts on: May 28, 2020, 03:57:56 PM
Wow, thank you! I had not any idea about the existence of this script! This is a great feature, thanks again!

You're welcome. Use it wisely tho...
Most of the times context is essential and there is a clear lack of it just looking at the post history.

Also reporting a user's entire post history might not be the best course of action.
 - may conclude you are doing it just to improve your reports stats which "might" be considered spammish (IMHO at least)
 - you may find out later that the users are already banned or old posts buried somewhere.
 - a message "see user's post history" goes a long way.
 - there are threads where OP mentions / shills his website and the thread has 2-3-4 pages and some might leave it for the discussion's sake. But hey, that's just my 2 cents Smiley

1. Use this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5101823.0

2. Any website needs some limitations. It's just good practice besides any other benefit.

I don't understand whats the point in creating new ANNs every day? Does it not break any rules of Bitcointalk?

The original ANN had a typo and 2 comments mentioning it with HUGE ASS IMAGES AND RED ARROWS  Grin
I would have also made a new thread in that situation

Thanks for keeping an eye out !
