581  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finally Bitcoin Devolpers planning to kill Ordinals and Inscription on: December 06, 2023, 12:37:47 PM
I will also say that bitcoin developers can look for alternatives means to solve this issue of transaction fee because Ordinals makes the use of bitcoin blockchain to widen. Some people that do not like the high fee are the ones that are now complaining.

The Lightening Network has really shown to be a successful Alternative, Since it enables users to establish channels between parties and carry out transactions off-chain without having to wait for confirmations on the Bitcoin network, . In this way, you avoid paying expensive transaction fees and also avoid having to wait a long time for your transactions to be confirmed on the network. It is undoubtedly a pretty great alternative for dealing with the issue of excessive TX fees.

I'm a 19-year-old boy living in South Korea and now btt, doge, shiba inu, etc.. have skyrocketed in just a few hours on our country exchange 'upbit'. A little fomo is coming. I can't believe it's gone up more than a months I've invested in bitcoin. I personally don't want to invest in other coins, as I think bitcoin is superior.
What kind of mindset should I have to stay in Bitcoin? And I think Bitcoin is about to hit the highest price ever, so how should I plan my dca strategy?

There's a reason Bitcoin is the safest asset to invest in, the crypto market is highly volatile, It's very difficult to predict the trend of these Altcoins and that's why the safety of your investment isn't guaranteed when you choose to invest in Altcoins. But investing in Bitcoin gives you more assurance because you know that even in the next 10, 20, 40 years to come, Bitcoin will still be there and reaching new heights, but Altcoins can't guarantee you such assurance.

And regards to planning your DCA. You don't need to have any specific amount in mind to DCA, just put in a particular amount from your weekly, or monthly income, don't know how much your income is so I can't tell you how much to DCA. But just like saving in a piggy bank you can make your evaluation and then come up with a reasonable amount, but what's important is being consistent in whatever amount or percentage you choose.

583  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Internet Bandwidth for Bitcoin Mining Farm on: December 06, 2023, 10:09:33 AM
Dear All,
Whats the required bandwidth for the bitcoin mining farm? Some say, you do not need enough bandwidth but a seamless connection; while others say, you should follow the thumb rule of  (No of Machines/150). Please advise.

If we are to follow the thumb rule, the bandwidth required for (lets say 100 machines could be 0.67 Mbps).
Please advise.

As for the bandwidth needed for a Bitcoin mining farm, well, everyone has their own unique thoughts that differ from one another. This is because the bandwidth needed depends on the precise software you use to mine Bitcoins.

And concerning the thumb rule is only a rough approximation. It's also crucial to remember that the actual bandwidth needed will depend on a number of variables, including the farm's precise location, the strength of the internet, and its size.
584  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why we no fit get one channel for Npfl and some local league? on: December 06, 2023, 09:51:19 AM
Lately I de watch south Africa higher institute female league for supper sports connect 2 and i still know say them get special channels when dem de use project their other top local leagues and if you de follow them up you go notice the improvement both for their stadium, commentary and also the  quality of play from these local leagues.

I no get any intention to talk down on our league but how we take de project and invest into our league no de go well for real, e de always de very difficult before you see NPFL streaming her matches live and we done reach level when we supposed don get one strong channel when go de show npfl, nuga games and hifl but i doubt say something like that dey ground.

Yesterday when our supper falcons play their last group stage match, I suffer find where I go watch am tire but I no see, na so so update their Facebook page de drop, e no really make sense aswr.

While I been de school, I was a part of my school team and from a first hand experience we de get zero support from the school even when each student de pay 5k for sports fee. You no get better ball, cone no de, and beep to use train de worry, and even field when school team suppose use train, them go sell am give outsiders and the team go just de confused and stranded.

We still get a very long way to go but if we fit at least work on one sharp channel when go de project Nija sport, e no go bad, and the thing be say we like Sports wetin no good so why the unnecessary carelessness and lack of concern for this sector?

Nothing like talking down on Naija Football, person wey see truth make e talk am. Naija na we country  and I love our country but the truth be say our country no dey try when it comes to Sports. How many better stadium we get for this country? The government no dey really look eye that side because them no believe say football or sports fit benefit them directly so them no dey invest for that side.

Them no need tell you before you know say our government greedy come still dey selfish join, if no be something wey go fit benefit benefit them directly, them no go put body. You dey talk about South African sports, if them tell you how much them dey invest for their Sports, your leg go first shake. Na e make if you watch them play for TV, e dey be like say na Pro football you dey watch.
If our government and top men for this country look eye for that sector, you go see say change go enter asap, you self go confirm am.
585  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tips on staying responsible. on: December 06, 2023, 09:27:16 AM
The only responsible way of controlling crypto gambling is by setting daily targets, using 10% of your income and mapping out days to gamble. For instance, on a day one can decide to use $50 for gambling which means whether winning or losing only $50 will be used to gamble on that day. Secondly, it is important to ensure that the $50 is only 10% of your income and finally, gambling shouldn't be a daily enterprise, two or three days can be set outside to gamble in a week.

What exactly do you mean by controlling crypto gambling what we're talking about here is ways to stay responsible in gambling and avoid gambling addiction, not controlling crypto gambling or whatever you mean by that.

And  saying the ONLY way to achieve this is by setting a gambling limit is what I cannot agree with. There are so many other effective ways one can stay responsible in gambling, even more effective than setting a gambling limit for yourself. Hope you're not also ignorant of the fact that there are people who have set those limits for themselves but fail to keep em, you still see them gambling way outta their set limit .
586  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Is Samsung blockchain wallet safe? on: December 05, 2023, 01:49:08 PM
I am 19 years old and I am living in south korea. I transfered all of my bitcoin from electrum to Samsung blockchain wallet.
They provide restore phrase and wallet. It is an app that you can download through galaxy store.
I think this is quite safe because Samsung is very legit company.
They also say that they can't see my restore phrase.
I am curious about your opinion.

Currently, I transfered 0.00399 because to Samsung blockchain wallet, and I will buy about 100 dollar worth of btc excluding binance network fee and transfer to Samsung blockchain wallet.

Well I can't say whether you made the right decision or not, Samsung may be a reputable tech company, but they don't have any history with crypto, if they do, then I'm not aware of it.

There are wallets that come highly recommended here on this forum and electrum happens to be one of those wallets, so moving your Bitcoin from your electrum wallet to your Samsung Wallet, whatever that is. I literally don't know what to say to that, but what I can tell you is that your funds are better off in your previous wallet. I've never used a Samsung Wallet before and I believe not everyone here has even heard of it before. But if you feel safe with your Bitcoin there, then it's your choice.
587  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / PROS AND CONS OF DIFFERENT CONSENSUS MECHANISM on: December 05, 2023, 01:38:29 PM

In every organization or association the importance of unity and oneness can never be overemphasized. If there's no unity in a successful organization or group of persons, then it's certain there'll certainly be a division amongst them thereby causing the organization to collapse, that's exactly how it is in the Blockchain network.

The Blockchain network is a system in which a record of transactions, especially those made in a cryptocurrency, is maintained across computers that are linked in a peer-to-peer network, and it might also interest us to know that these computers are scattered across the globe, so that tells us that the Blockchain network isn't centralized in any particular geographical location. the Blockchain network is best known for its cryptocurrency capabilities such as the popular Bitcoin and other related currencies (Altcoin) But that's not all, The Blockchain is more than just that, it's also know for its efficiency  in the process of verifying, recording, managing and monitoring information. It is also important to note that the Blockchain network is can classified into two major categories which are the private Blockchain network and public Blockchain network, But I believe we probably know this so I won't go further as I'll just go straight to the point.

In order to ensure the smooth running of the Blockchain Network, there need to be some sort of agreement between those several computers scattered among different geographical locations, Hence the introduction of the CONSENSUS MECHANISM.

You may also want to look at https://builtin.com/blockchain/consensus-mechanism

The Consensus Mechanism is a process employed by the Blockchain Network to reach some sort of agreement on the validity of transactions on the network as well as the order in which they are added on the Blockchain. With the help of the consensus mechanism, new blocks can be verified and validated and it also ensures everyone on the network is using the same version of the Blockchain.

To ensure the smooth running of the Blockchain then everyone in the network must be in complete agreement on which transactions are valid and invalid. They act as a verification standard through which each Blockchain transactions gets approved.

Although, While designing a network's verification standard, there are many consensus mechanism to take into account, but all of them are designed to undermine the credibility of those who try to falsify the record.

HOW THE CONSENSUS MECHANISM WORKS.

Generally, the Job and purpose of a consensus mechanism is to maintain the security and stability of the Blockchain. Ensures that the entire network runs smoothly in a unified and cooperative way within the network. It's also a way of ensuring that every user in the network follows the same rules and makes the same decisions without being controlled by a central authority.

When a request is sent by a user to the Blockchain, Nodes receive data from that request, processes the data and then decides whether the request is valid or invalid. Let's say for example, a user requests to withdraw a token that has already been accounted for, with the help of the consensus mechanism, the request will be processed and evaluated and then takes the decision that the request is invalid and not worthy to be honored.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONSENSUS MECHANISM

We have different types of Consensus Mechanism, but I'll be talking about the two major types which are the
1. PROOF-OF-WORK and
2. PROOF-OF-STAKE

PROOF-OF-WORK

Proof-of-work (PoW) is the Blockchain network's most widely utilized consensus mechanism. In this procedure, miners compete with use of computer power to solve challenging mathematical puzzles. The first miner to solve the puzzle adds the next block of transactions to the Blockchain and is rewarded with cryptocurrency. While this technique was primarily created for the Bitcoin network, other cryptocurrencies have since embraced it.
The reason this approach is the most often used is that it contributes to network security and virtually eliminates the possibility of transaction manipulation on the Blockchain.

PROOF-OF-STAKE

Another popular consensus method that was developed as a substitute for Proof-of-Work is Proof-of-stake (PoS). This one chooses validators based on how many coins or tokens they Stake, in contrast to the PoW. Therefore, in this instance, your mathematical expertise are not required because it doesn't qualifies you to be a validator; instead, the quantity of tokens you have staked is what counts. In other words, the more token a validator stakes, the more his chances he has to be a validator and to create the next block of transactions on the network, and then rewarded with more tokens.

PROS AND CONS OF DIFFERENT CONSENSUS MECHANISM

In as much as the PoW is the most popular and the most secured Consensus Mechanism, some people still believe that the PoS is more preferable and more convenient because

1. The PoW, unlike the PoS is energy intensive. You need work your ass and brain out on the computer before you can be able to add another block of transaction.

2. Requires lots of computational power. Unlike the PoS you really don't need all that computational power.

3. Most significantly, because only big mining pools with powerful computers can afford to join, the high operational costs of the PoW network may cause centralization.

But in my opinion I still think that the PoW is way better and more effective. What do you think?

As for the skills, if you're looking for what to learn you can try graphic designing, Bbcode designs, community management and customer service management. You can learn skills associated with blockchain, cryptocurency or not but can be implemented with crypto projects as those are the employers you'll find on the forum.

Just to be clear, are there provisions that avails forum members to learn these skills or do you mean he should learn it outside and then come back to the forum to publicize his skill and hope to be employed by people who'd need such services here on the forum, I'm a kinda confused.

HELLO EVERYONE

I PROMISED I'D COME BACK WITH UPDATES ON THE OUTCOME AND RESULT OF THE GAME. I SHOULD HAVE UPDATED Y'ALL EARLIER THAN THIS ( YESTERDAY) BUT I'VE BEEN PRETTY BUSY WITH STUFFS. AND SO I DECIDED NOT TO CASH OUT AND LET THE GAME PLAY THROUGH AND I DID. BUT UNFORTUNATELY ONE OF THE GAMES TOOK A NEGATIVE TURN AND RUINED EVERYTHING. I'M A BIT DISAPPOINTED BUT I'M STILL NOT REGRETTING MY DECISION BECAUSE THAT'S GAMBLE FOR YOU, SOMETIMES YOU WIN, SOMETIMES YOU LOOSE, SOMETIMES YOU'RE KEPT IN A TIGHT CORNER TO MAKE CERTAIN DECISIONS, SOMETIMES YOU MAKE THE RIGHT ONE, AND SOMETIMES THR WRONG ONES BUT THAT'S THE WORLD OF GAMBLE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT Y'ALL WOULD GONNA LEARN FROM MY EXPERIENCE BUT I DON'T REGRET MY ACTIONS AND IF I'M TO BE FACED WITH THE SAME SITUATION AGAIN, I'D STILL CHOOSE TO LET IT PLAY THROUGH.

I remember advising you that whatever decision or action you take it should be something that you are comfortable with and you can have a good sleep and since you already stated in this post that you are comfortable with your decision to go, then it is good to move forward now, that's the fact of gambling when you think you have it in the bag then unexpected things happen.
I'm sure you will learn from this and take the best action next time you are in the same position, anyway, I'm sure its an exciting ride and you enjoy the experience, I'm sure next time you will finally get it in the bag.
You bet it was quite an exciting ride, and yes I have learnt a few lessons from the experience too, although this wasn't the first time I'm encountering such a scenerio but this one was a tough knuckle. Like I said earlier OP if I'm faced with the same situation in the future and my instincts tell me not to cash out, I would follow it, that's one thing about instincts, sometimes they lead you to making her right decisions and sometimes they don't. And yeah next time I believe I'll get it in the bad
590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 03, 2023, 05:35:23 AM
When we enter the field of casino gambling, the risk taker will consider you a gambler, and then suddenly they will ask you whether to cash out or not. It seems that you don't know what you are doing here; what is that?

In the first place, we should know ourselves and why we gamble, right? At the end of the day, it's still your decision to follow if you don't like the replies of those who will post here on the topic you chose. So, it seems like your question is also ignored.

You're absolutely right OP, the decision is entirely mine to make, but what if what I already decided to do isn't completely the right thing to do or maybe I'm missing something. It wouldn't hurt to use an extra POV right?

But if you think you will gamble again with the amount you are thinking of cashing out, you should leave the money in your account without cashing out.

Exactly one of the exact reasons I decided to let the game play through, if I had cashed out, I would've still used the money to place another bet, so it's technically the same thing as the outcome would still be uncertain, so that's why I decided not to take the cash out and let the game play through
591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 03, 2023, 02:45:51 AM
Sorry about the outcome man. We all know it is gambling and do as much as possible try to follow our guts but it does sting a little when you lose out and the closer you are to the prize the more it feels like you lost the potential reward and not just your stake.

I like your positive approach to it and hope you get more successful bets in the future.

- Jay -

Thanks Mate. And yes it does sting a little sometimes, but have you as a gambler ever felt defeat whenever you took a decision to make a cash out, regardless how mouth watering the cash out might be? Sometimes in gambling, it's really not about the partial compensation that gives us that satisfaction we desire but the full potential win, so it's like, it's either that or nothing, that way, no matter how much the cash out is, you'd feel like you'd be making a great mistake if you took the Cashout. That'd be cutting out the fun part lol.
592  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 03, 2023, 02:32:11 AM

I DON'T REGRET MY ACTIONS AND IF I'M TO BE FACED WITH THE SAME SITUATION AGAIN, I'D STILL CHOOSE TO LET IT PLAY THROUGH.[/b]
Hypothetically, if you have a 16million naira (16,000,000) potential to win with two games remaining and a cash out of about 8 million (8,000,000) to run away with, would you take same decision you took?
So 8,000,000 is way too much, and even someone like me won't hesitate to make a quick cashout. Looking at it this way: If I don't cash out, I'm the one to lose when the game goes sideways, and if I do, I will be gaining when the game cuts, or even if it doesn't, I still don't lose, as I have something to go home with.

Most precisely OP, you're not far from the truth lol.

Hypothetically, if you have a 16million naira (16,000,000) potential to win with two games remaining and a cash out of about 8 million (8,000,000) to run away with, would you take same decision you took?

My cashing out would be dependent on a few facts which I'd be putting into consideration, first of, how much did I use to make the stake, could I afford to loose it, is 16,000,000 enough compensation for me? These factors and a few more would determine if I'll d he cashout or if I'd still stick to letting the gam play through, i believe you understand what I mean

Holy f*ck…

I like what you said in your post “it’s gambling”. We all knew yesterday that they will always be two possible outcomes when it comes to gambling and unfortunately for you yours turned out to be the one that is not always pleasant to the ear.

Be warned before hand that you’ll see some comments stating that you should have cashed out when you had the chance and that you allowed greed to take over, just don’t listen to them you did what you thought was best and you also had the courage to come back to the forum to give an update that’s good of you.

Indeed, I was fully aware of the risks behind my decision before taking it. You know what they say, too much expectations comes with too much disappointment. If I hadn't expected that I'd loose and only expected to win the game, then you bet the disappointed would have been way more than unbearable, but I expected it. And everyone one knows gambling is a risky trip not for the feeble minded lol. I've lost way more than this so it's nothing new.

And for those that'd think or say I made the wrong choice, well good for them, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and it will be well appreciated. But just like you said, I did what I felt was the best thing to do at that point, and you bet I'd do it again if I get the chance.
Thanks for your words mate, it's well appreciated.

595  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Is my plan legal? Managing the account of a dead person on: December 02, 2023, 04:53:37 PM
So me and most of my family are EU citizens.
Banks and governments are going after crypto holders like a hungry dog goes after a hamburger.

Making a substantial BTC investment (I am aiming for 15k-20k) will immediately flag me to the local IRS. I will get a guaranteed visit from a tax agent, which is also detrimental for my normal job. He will demand to verify all my crypto holdings, and tax me accordingly. At this point only for realized profits, but I read articles about holdings too. Imagine being taxed 33% for holding BTC at 47k, and it goes down to 17k the year after that. It makes no sense but this is their strategy.

So my plan is like this:

5k in my name (this is only 7% of my portfolio)
5k in my wife's name (I transfer 5k to her)
5k in my fathers name (I pay him)

This decreases the odds of tax agents going after me/us.

My 78 year old mother in law is a non EU citizen. We can let her go through KYC, deposit our 3 funds to her BTC address and manage it for her.
The tax hawks in my country will be shown that our accounts are empty. There is nothing for them to rob. I don't think we do anything illegal. We just donated to my mother in law who is outside of their jurisdiction.

Authorities in the country of my mother in law will not expect anything from her because there was never a deposit from any local bank to her BTC address.

I do wonder, if we wish to manage her account and cash out in 2035, if that requires her to be alive at that point (live camera footage, fingerprint..)
Or if we can do that P2P without any problems.

Does this make sense or am I missing something?

Well first, you sound like you got everything all planned out pretty good, but what if there's a loophole in your plan and at some point things go bazaar and then you end up either being flagged or even worse. I don't know about your country but in certain countries of the world tax evasion is considered criminal, regardless the technique you adopt, that's why it's always advisable to involve a professional or an expert in matters like this.

But if you eventually seek professional advice on the matter and confirms you're not breaking any laws then that brings to the part where you're asking if you can take out the Bitcoin without your mother in law's fingerprints or some sort of verification. In this case, there are several DEXs that really don't require any form of verifications before you can take out your BTC as long as the Wallet Phrases are in your possession.

If you are winning already, you can cash out, but if you can afford to lose the money, why cashing out.
You have to be calm when faced with this situation the greediness within you is your worst enemy, whatever you decide and the outcome let us know so we can also learn from your experience, it's good that you posted it here.

Honestly, my instincts tells me to let the games play through, I'm optimistic it'll turn out good, and I've just decided that's what I'll do. The first game starts in a minute. And I'll be sure to update the outcome of the game here on this thread.
597  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: CASHOUT OR NOT???? on: December 01, 2023, 03:28:15 PM
Your topic brings to mind this one already discussed some time ago when the OP has a similar question. You can read about it - Greed or risk. You already know what you want, you can see it through to the end or you can cash out and be happy.
If we look at the thread you provided in that adhoc link, I think the options and potentials are entirely different with the one on OP. I mean, the games in the link is the damned El-Classico, Barcelona vs Real Madrid. There is a lot of rivalry in that game. We can’t say the same for the games OP has placed bet on.

If one of those games involved teams like Barcelona vs Real Madrid. Then I sure wouldn't have opened this thread, I would have taken the cashout without a single hesitation. Grin

I took a quick look at your bet and you’ve chosen games from Bundesliga and Serie A in the 12 market options.
I must say, I don’t see how an X would be coming out of those two bets. If I were you, I’ll let it run. It’s something that could easily play out in your favour.
That’s my take but, it’s up to you.

Thanks for the tip, it just helped reduce the tension and gives me more assurance to follow my heart, which is to let the games play through.

Good day everyone.

I'd really need your advice on something I'm debating within myself. Okay the screenshots below is a running ticket that's been on since Sunday, I carefully selected 2 games for each day using the same market options for all the games( Home or Away to win).  I've been carefully watching the game every single day as everything has been going as planned, although there were times I panicked as some matches almost went bazaar. But thankfully everything went well. So today's the final day and I've been given an incredible amount as my available Cashout, so I've been waring against myself since morning if I should take the cash out or if I should just allow the game to finish playing. Honestly I want to leave the game, besides it's just 2 games left and the games are likely to play in my favor, but who knows, these things can be so unpredictable. What if I take the cashout and then the game plays ( which I believe will happen) then I'd be loosing over half of my winning, and then what if I leave the game to finish playing with intentions of taking everything and it goes otherwise. Please guys I need your advice, the first game starts in a couple of hours and I still can't decide on what to do right now.

Erling Haaland is currently one of the most important (if not the most important) Manchester City players and there's nothing that'll make Manchester City's management release their talisman to another club at the moment. If Zinedine Zidane becomes Carlo Ancelotti's successor at Real Madrid, I think he'll rather go for a Kylian Mbappe than to sign a striker like Erling Haaland because Zidane's style of play wouldn't give Haaland the kind of football he would want and that'll make it very difficult for Haaland to flourish at Manchester City.

One of the things I like about Manchester City is that they don't sell there players easily but instead they make sure to buy experience and more strong players just like what they did on there last signing which is Jeremy Doku he is a very youngster full of talent and experience so since he joined Manchester City he has been maintaining the position very well and the impact he makes on every Manchester City matches is something that's worth giving attention to.

I agree with you that Manchester City are very skeptical about their signings... You don't see them signing players just because the player has scored a number of goals, unlike some teams I wouldn't wanna mention. Not that they don't have the money to go around signing up players, but you don't see Pep doing that. Before you see Pep sign in a new player, then it means he has observed a vacuum that only that person can fill in perfectly. I'm not a Manchester City Fan but I respect Pep so much for his experience in the job.
