How does lightning take out a laptop?
I assume it was plugged on the charger. I've had this happen before... not fun. Motherboard was fried, didn't even boot to the BIOS.

Politics and religion are excellent reasons to break up with a girlfriend. Better a breakup now than a divorce later.
100% yes to this! Disagreements on religion or politics (or money) is a HUGE red flag when talking about getting married. You've got to be on the same page with your spouse on anything that either of you feel passionately about, or it's very likely going to end badly. People have euphoric views on how they will change their spouse's viewpoint, or how it doesn't really matter and they'll just work it out, but that doesn't match reality. Source: Happily married for almost 7 years now. This can also mean that you simply agree to disagree on some subjects. For instance, just because one person is an Atheist and another is Roman Catholic does not mean that they'd be bad for each other. As long as neither of them is a preachy, foaming-at-the-mouth extremist type of person, they should be able to get along fine in that regard. Of course, religion and politics are only a measly two variables in the equation of a relationship.

If a dude had 100 coins, now he has 10 ... the price of those 10 eventually adjust to what 100 would be worth....
Wait, so I can manipulate the price like that? *deletes all but 10% of his bitcoins*

The site is wonderful, but I'd change "Your Bitcoin Wallet ID" to "Your Bitcoin Address".

Thanks for your offers to help, everyone. Just came to say that this is all sorted out now. She ended up not needing my help anyway, so I guess Bitcoin doesn't get to come to the rescue today.

I'm thinking that the best way to get money to her would be through a Western Union transfer. Would any trusted (OTC-rated) members here be willing to do a WU transfer? I'll pay WU's ridiculous fees, plus 0.25 BTC.
If you have a better idea on how to get cash to her quickly, I'm certainly open to ideas!
Just to be clear. Are you proposing: you pay BTC to a forum member and that someone does a USD transaction for you through Western Union? Yup. I'd just send her money through WU myself, but I don't have enough that I can dip into right now. Also, I'd probably need the transaction done tomorrow or the day after. Coordinating in different time zones sucks!

We're getting pretty close to the point at which Bitfunder shares will begin to receive dividends. About 43% of the original IPO has been paid back so far.
