5802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Biggest Wallet? on: September 21, 2021, 06:07:29 PM
Maybe you can see it on the blockchain. But you can't know who it belongs to. We never know which wallet satoshi is. But it is a program to protect the privacy of the owner of the asset from others. We can

1. Please try to write complete sentences next time.
2. According to BitInfoCharts, 34xp4vRoCGJym3xR7yCVPFHoCNxv4Twseo belongs to Binance (it's Binance's cold wallet); so the owner is actually known.

Keep in mind that Bitcoin is only pseudo-anonymous...
5803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A whale moved $2bn in bitcoin 540 times in a short time frame on: September 21, 2021, 05:57:02 PM
What's your thought?

It has occurred to me that the "whale" may be a business - possibly a mixing business - and all you've done there were consolidations and withdrawals and customers' money going in all the directions, including exchanges.
How about that?
5804  Economy / Economics / Re: How would the ecosystem change if the fees came back to the user after 1 year? on: September 21, 2021, 02:06:37 PM
We have transactions fees, to avoid creating tons of transactions and increase the blockchain size to a extreme amount.

Those transactions fees are sent to the next user who is the miner.

How would the economy of a coin would change if instead of sending the transaction fee to be mined, the transaction fee was frozen and 1 year after it it would be sent back to the wallet. The user wont lose that money, but still can't keep making tons and tons of transactions to spam the blockchain.

The transaction fees are the part that should ensure Bitcoin run forever. The block rewards are decreasing, rather sharply. When those will become really small, the miner have to be paid somehow for their work. That's what the transaction are fees for, not only to avoid network spam.
This being said, if your idea would be implemented, in some (many?) years from now, there's a (good) chance the miners will leave.

So while your idea is interesting for your own pocket (and all users'), it's not that good for the ecosystem...

And something more. If those coins will return to you, it may be some dust input, which may cost more to be spent than how much it worth...
And something more. While using bitcoin, for privacy, it's recommended to not reuse addresses. Still, in years, all the old addresses will be filled with dust. All in all, it looks more a waste than not spending some cents.
5805  Other / Meta / Re: [POLL] Top 5 boards deserve most merits on: September 21, 2021, 01:32:34 PM
What is your top 5? Please be sure to be honest. Vote for the top 5 in your mind, not from the result.

1. Many of us just don't visit all the boards. I don't visit P&S or the boards in most foreign languages. I guess I'm not alone in this and such votes may distort the result. Also there's a good chance that certain areas have less merit sources than others.
2. I don't think that the amount of merit should be based on a board. Some are more active, some are less active, sometimes there are better posts here, sometimes there are better posts there.

So, unfortunately, I won't vote since I believe that it can't do anything good / useful...

Da, e o initiativa buna. Felicitari Smiley

Multumesc!

5807  Economy / Economics / Re: New regulation in South Korea has forced several exchanges to close on: September 21, 2021, 10:42:27 AM
The lawyers will not do be able to do a thing, it's just like here in the EU, every business must have a  bank account for operations, same will be applied here, with the small difference that they will not permit any more deposits and withdrawals from other accounts with a punishment this time, not just tax evasion (if proven).

While banks were in the law for handling the money, now they're there to prove ownership of accounts / enforce KYC.
In my brain these are different things. It's only the banks who can do such checks? I guess not. And if so, why are the partnership enforced with banks and not any kind of company that can do such tasks? And what if the business can create its own department for handling this? Sorry, I may be missing something, but for me this enforced partnership is not normal.

Yes, they are exchanges based in South Korea, but maybe they can just follow what CZ did to Binance, CZ got not option again than to leave China,

then Japan, then Malta, and so on and on, and even he had no choice but to actually remove all the Korean won pair and even the Korean language from Binance.

Indeed. And it's becoming harder to harder to keep the business running while it's on the run. After the Binance experience it's to be expected that the countries will only get better in avoiding/banning this kind of practices.
5808  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help meeeeee on: September 21, 2021, 10:01:45 AM
In 2009 and 2010, I was involved in membership sites that offered free bitcoins

Most of those websites are long gone. Then, if you don't even know what the sites were, even if you find one of those still working, I don't think that there's any reasonable chance that you can prove membership there.
Also I expect that back then they were giving big amounts of bitcoin. I would not realistically expect from a website to hand you $50k or more worth of bitcoin only by asking them nicely and without actual account credentials.

As said, don't make much of a hope for recovering those coins...  Sad

ETFbitcoin list is very good, I would add though that you should think it very good and make sure it was indeed 2009-2010 or it was, let's say, 2016-2017 (or any other years). The difference is huge.

5814  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2021-09-19] Bitcoin is great, but real crypto innovation has moved elsewhere on: September 21, 2021, 08:25:02 AM
Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) are hot, nonfungible tokens (NFTs) are hot, play-to-earn gaming is hot and the Metaverse is hot.

After discovering Bitcoin in 2016, Ray went on to work as the head of content and marketing at a variety of blockchain startups. Aside from swing trading anything that moves and chasing after the next DeFi airdrop, Ray is

I see a "news" written by somebody hunting and doing marketing for shitcoins and such. Why you guys take this serious? It's not news, it's marketing disguised in a news article. Nothing new.
I'm surprised though. Did NFT market already get short of suckers?
5815  Economy / Reputation / Re: My bitcointalk account got misused by my friend on: September 21, 2021, 08:13:41 AM
I handed my bitcointalk account to my friend few years ago and he started doing paid shit posting. Now I asked him to provide me the account login and when I checked that its simple got down voted.
Is there anyway to fix my account reputation?

The chances are slim to none. A good status and reputation are very hard to earn and very easy to lose. Now you know that.
And it's not even something this account didn't do, or got tagged by mistake. I doubt that you'll get any of those negative tags removed.

It doesn't matter much if it was you or anybody else behind that account. And it was not even a hack, it was your friend and you gave him your account details yourself!
Just imagine if each and every scammer would come after some time telling that it was not him doing this or that...

5816  Other / Meta / Re: Is it time for them to get a higher rank? on: September 21, 2021, 07:49:36 AM
Halab aren't wrong...

It has been requested, but not sure that all top reporters want to be exposed publicly. And if it turns into a dick contest like merits...

May be. Clearly. But even so, it will be beneficial for the forum. The more good reports, the cleaner will the forum be, isn't it?
And it doesn't have to be on levels (for becoming "a dick contest"), only a "Top Reporter" badge will do (with no visible numbers under it).
Then I'd expect that the result will be even more reports. Nothing wrong with that.
5817  Economy / Lending / Re: Bitcoin smartchain loan agreement advice needed on: September 21, 2021, 07:39:54 AM
I have an urgent need for advice. I arranged a Bitcoin loan and the broker made an error by creating 2 smartchain agreements for the same loan. This effectively doubled the amount of BTC I was required to deposit which I don't have. I deposited the original agreed amount prior to the problem being identified which means those funds are tied up until I can either temprarily source the balance BTC or find a way to cancel the secong smartchain contract. The broker has not been able to provide a solution.

I need urgent advice please. Anyone open to a peer to peer loan of 2.74 BTC I am willing to pay $10k AUD for the day to complete the transaction pending. Any advice or guidance gratefully accepted.

Interesting story. If the story would be true, it would be the broker's mistake and he should find a solution for it and pay from his own pocket.
But for me it looks like an attempt to scam. I don't think that anybody sane would loan you (a newbie with 1 post) without escrow and solid collateral.
5818  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdraw and stop using Binance on: September 20, 2021, 08:14:12 PM

I agree with @bitmover here:
1. What you are doing with this thread title is not helping anyone. You just make people panic.
2. Whoever keeps big funds at any exchange it's doing it wrong. Sooner or later something bad will happen.
5819  Other / Meta / Re: Top reporters on: September 20, 2021, 08:07:46 PM
According to my personal statistics, I have 446 good reports, but I can't tell how much of that is from the past year. I guess I only need a couple more to break into the 'top reporters' list. So close...
In any case, congratulations to the TOP reporters and everyone else who contributes to the fight against spammers. Your work makes this place bearable.  Grin

I have 578 and still didn't made it to the list  Grin
Maybe some clearer stats will come at some point and based on them some badges too? (One can hope).

However, congrats to those from the list. Those numbers are hugely impressive!
5820  Other / Meta / Re: Is it time for them to get a higher rank? on: September 20, 2021, 08:02:42 PM
I agree, they did a great job and they should be proud. But that doesn't make them good posters.

If it would be to rank them up, Theymos could just "airdrop" them some merit, I guess. But just meriting some "random" posts for that... it's not OK.
Or they can get some sort of badge. Maybe better stats could come first and then the badge will come just natural.
