BIP142 was deferred and won't be implemented as currently described. People will use P2SH address for segwit at the beginning.
How will redeem script look like? It will look like a segwit output script.

Hi Bitcoin People! I have been running an online business for a few years. 2 years ago I decided to setup a bitcoin payment module which to my surprise have been used a lot. Since this is my own bitcoin server I am responsible of maintaining and updating the bitcoin core to it's latest version and backing up the wallet a few times every day.
I have read that the latest bitcoin update has a HD feature which means I only have to back up the seed. Now when my wallet is getting bigger and bigger (roughly 80 MB) contaning tons of addresses that's not in use anymore, I would like to have a HD wallet. Which means I don't need to create a backup every time a bitcoin transaction occurs, increasing the wallet.dat with data.
Questions: 1) Is it possible to import all the old addresses/private keys from my old wallet, into a new HD-wallet?
I think it may be possible. Otherwise you will have to send the Bitcoin from your old wallet to an address in the new wallet. 2) Can the HD feature be used for commerce (via RPC bitcoin-cli) or is it only for private use?
Thanks in advance, Matteo
Yes. There is no difference between commercial use and private use. The computer doesn't know the difference and doesn't care.

As you can see, I already started translating so feel free to add the website to the Transifex page as well (If possible). I do have one question, though, what would the translation of the word "Armory" would be ? should I keep it written "Armory" or I should write it in the Arabic characters but keeping the same prononciation ? or I should give the real transaction of the word "Armory"? I know It seems like a bit confusing but just making sure I don't screw things up.
Since Armory is the name, I think it shouldn't be translated.

FTFY It's not a bad idea. It would require a hard fork.

Well your program is very narrow minded because it puts a few dollars worth on my account, which is in actuality priceless!
Also, the algorithm says that posts with <75 word count are of bad quality. Well, in writing, you are meant to keep your posts short, if you're too wordy, your post becomes uninteresting and nobody would bother to read it! It rates my post quality as "Poor" when it actually is rich with content; political satire and humor!
It's actually a 75 character count, much easier to reach than 75 words Post quality is all subjective. This is the best a computer can do without getting into crazy AI stuff.

When i log into wallet 2 it shows no balance and no transactions, which leads me to believe that the address where I know the bitcoin are, must be associated with a different wallet, i.e.: wallet 1, the one to which i do not know the password.
If wallet 2 is a watch only wallet of wallet 1, then you should still see the balance there. So basically problem 1 is, recovering password to wallet 1
Unfortunately no one can help you there. problem 2 is, once i successfully log in, i still have no access to the coins in that wallet because there is some key that i don't have that i require in order to "unlock" the watch only status of wallet 1 (which i don't even have the password to)
You cannot make a watch only wallet spendable since it contains no private keys whatsoever. You will need to find the full wallet (presumable wallet 1) which does have the private keys to spend the Bitcoin.

When you log into blockchain.info, do you see any balance in your wallet? If so, then 1Ld7rHtF62d1HXNFcpgnpMNh47jvkWaq82 is a change address and you still (probably) own the Bitcoin. You should also be able to find a list of all of your addresses in blockchain.info.
Also, a watch only wallet cannot spend any Bitcoin at all whatsoever. It can only do as it's title says, watch the wallet. This is because a watch only wallet does not contain any private keys and cannot recover those private keys. If you do not have the wallet with the private keys, then your Bitcoin are lost.

Sounds like you are syncing a fresh blockchain. Did you delete the .bitcoin folder in the process of updating Core, or were you using a custom folder previously?
No, I did the full factory reset I have run across another problem guys. Disk space is low on my Ubuntu. I have about 300 gigs of free space on my external disks. Is there a way to transfer the data I have already downloaded to those paths? Please help. Go to Bitcoin Core's data directory and copy all of the files to the new location of your data directory. Do the same for Armory but put the files in a different folder specific for Armory. Then you must start Bitcoin Core with the -datadir=<path> where <path> is the path to the new data directory where you copied all of the files. Then start Armory with --satoshi-datadir=<path> where <path> is the path to the Bitcoin Core datadir and with --datadir=<path> where <path> is the path to your Armory datadir.

Were you getting those while scanning?
I think so.

Segwit is specified in BIPs 141, 143, and 144.
BTW, why BIP 142 has not been accepted? And how will look segwit addresses? I don't quite remember why BIP 142 wasn't accepted. There will not be segwit addresses. There will be segwit output types which map to a normal address. There will also be p2sh addresses in which the redeemscript is a segwit output.

I read both releases notes you gave me but I still don't fully get it. I mean I understand that to disable it I should set it to "0" but to enable , I should put any number between 0-550 and that will enable it ? 1 should do the job ? Put any number 550 or above in order to enable pruning. 550 is the minimum.

Is that all that's in the log? Does it hang and then you kill it, or does it crash by itself?

Edit3: It doesn't detect new ZC transactions and nothing in the log indicates why.
Is the ZC eventually mined? Yes. It only shows up after it is confirmed. Do you experience the detached DB issue too? Don't know, haven't and can't check (away from my machine).

First of all, update to Armory 0.94.1: https://btcarmory.com/0.94.1-release/. Then update Bitcoin Core to 0.13.0: https://bitcoin.org/en/downloadThen come back and see if the error is still there.
The updater and announcements system are no longer maintained.functional. Don't use them anymore. They have been removed in the latest versions of Armory. Synchronizing with network...7 years and 30 weeks behind. Will write back on this forum once its done (if it's still here by 2023) It doesn't take 7 years and it should have detected whatever you synced before with an older version of Bitcoin Core.

I think most of the bugs and instability issues reported here should be fixed now. Testers, please pull dev and try again. DB format changed slightly, please start with a fresh folder.
Still getting tons of these errors: Traceback (most recent call last): File "ArmoryQt.py", line 5771, in handleCppNotification self.updateWalletData() File "ArmoryQt.py", line 5735, in updateWalletData self.walletMap[wltid].getAddrDataFromDB() File "/home/andy/bitcoin/BitcoinArmory/armoryengine/PyBtcWallet.py", line 52, in inner return func(*args, **kwargs) File "/home/andy/bitcoin/BitcoinArmory/armoryengine/PyBtcWallet.py", line 3119, in getAddrDataFromDB countList = self.cppWallet.getAddrTxnCountsFromDB() File "/home/andy/bitcoin/BitcoinArmory/CppBlockUtils.py", line 2354, in getAddrTxnCountsFromDB return _CppBlockUtils.BtcWallet_getAddrTxnCountsFromDB(self) <class 'CppBlockUtils.DbErrorMsg'>: <CppBlockUtils.DbErrorMsg; proxy of <Swig Object of type 'DbErrorMsg *' at 0x7f485abb8cf0> >
and it seems that it is stuck at "Scanning Transaction History 100% 1 second". Edit: It fixed itself. Yay! It seems to work! Edit2: Looking at the list of addresses in a wallet, it looks like any address that has a 0 balance is considered unused even though they have been used in the past. Double clicking on the address shows the transactions, but the adddresses in the list are marked as unused with 0 transactions. Edit3: It doesn't detect new ZC transactions and nothing in the log indicates why.

Segwit is designed by Nicolas Dorier, and if you have question, you can tweet and ask him. I don't think there are so many people eligible to answer you this question here. Maybe a btc expert will answer you.
Segwit is not designed by Nicolas Dorier. Please stop spreading misinformation. It was designed and implemented in Bitcoin Core by Johnson Lau and Pieter Wuille. If you want full details for how Segwit works (and thus how to implement it), please read the BIPs. Segwit is specified in BIPs 141, 143, and 144.
