Making your seed tamperproof is a crucial aspect of the whole process. I found a solution, but I am far from satisfied from that.
Any tamperproof method is better than none, but let's not think that it is perfect method for protection.
Using stickers is probably cheapest way when you are using seed phrase backup on paper and custom made envelope that can't be reproduced so easy.
I know some people are selling more expensive tamper evident plastic bags that can be used for coins or for crypto, but  think this is waste of money.
Interesting free idea is taking different colored grains and legumes in tight box container, mixing it all up and taking a picture of that mix.

It got weirder, it looks like the site currently uses the wrong certificate
Confirmed here.
This is using LetsEncrypt certificate anyone can get for free, and that interactio.live domain was registered this year by amazon Undecided
I don't remember what kind of certificate was used originally by Chipmixer, but this stinks more and more like some kind of attack, better to avoid using clearnet when it goes online.

Code:
Domain Name: interactio.live
Registry Domain ID: 384f8780e67a4ed7a58b0fa07a95927a-DONUTS
Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.registrar.amazon.com
Registrar URL: http://registrar.amazon.com
Updated Date: 2022-02-10T16:09:59Z
Creation Date: 2022-01-04T15:04:45Z

It's offline from my end. But the Onion site works fine, and is better for privacy anyway.
See Tor Project to download the Tor browser.
It's down for me also and I tried with different browsers.
I know we can always use onion website that I usually recommend, but it would be good to hear from official Chipmixer account with explanation what happened in this case.
Probably some ddos attack or scheduled maintenance.

Two tests, the first minimum amount, success, the second about 1000 euros, failed, and the email could not be contacted.so uknow what happen now?
Why would you ever experiment with them when you can see previous comments complaining they can't contact them and have other issues?
I never used cryptomoxer.io andf their account is inactive in bitcointalk forum since October 2021 so we can't help you with this, but there are much more reputable mixers you can use today.

5826  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and yield farming on: March 08, 2022, 03:42:22 PM
This shit is NOT related with real bitcoin but with some token that is representing fake bitcoin on totally centralized binance smart chain, operated by just few nodes from CZ and his friends.
I would never send BTC and convert it to some token because of ''low fees'' and big yield percentage advantage, when I know this can all fall apart like dominos.
This swap farming thing is probably worse then legit centralizes services that earn small percentage if you send them your bitcoin.
5827  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ukrainian Scam Donation Posts and Users on: March 08, 2022, 03:34:34 PM
Yet another scammer attempting to profit from this ongoing situation by creating an useless token that will allegedly be used to help the people but we all know that he will only help himself with donated money. They invested a little bit more effort though than a regular scammer just sharing address as they launched the website as well, to appear more legit.
I even got an email on one of my old junk email addresses from a guy (scammer) who is asking for help and donation.
If anyone receives something similar like content I post below, just ignore it and send it to spam folder.
First his name was Stepan Morozov and then in the end he wrote with all respect, Andrew  Cheesy
I removed wallet addresses because someone already sent them coins :/ ...

Code:
Wow, hello!, my name is  Stepan Morozov
I am an outcast. Me and my 2 children had to urgently leave the country with the current threat.

Most recently, I lost my wife and now I am a single father.

We are very hungry, there are no vacancies for refugees, and the allowance is not enough to feed all my children.
I really ask for your help. Do not remain indifferent.

If you have the opportunity, I ask for financial assistance from you.

 I'll leave the details:

 ---------------

 BTC: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 USDT TRC-20: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 USDT ERC-20: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

 With all respect, Andrew
5828  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk accounts - Ukraine on: March 08, 2022, 03:26:08 PM
Let's not get super paranoid, because this is not the first or the last conflict that is going to happen in the world.
There is nothing special with accounts from any country that was in war since bitcointalk forum existed, and we have a long list off all countries that were invaded.
Only way to identify account locstion in forum is with IP address, and that can easily change with vpn or Tor browser.
5829  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: March 07, 2022, 06:25:15 PM
That looks nice! But to make it tamper proof, you'll need to make sure you recognize the exact version you created. If someone can just print his own SeedCapsule to replace yours, you may not notice it.
That is true, you can always make your own custom made details that can't be printed and duplicated exactly.
It's not that hard if you have your own 3d printer, to add specific color mix or something similar like that, maybe editing stl files and making it unique.
Just let your imagination go wild.
5830  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: n0nce's Steel Washer Backup jig (customisable) on: March 07, 2022, 05:40:26 PM
I found interesting project called SeedCapsule that can be useful for people who are using steel washers for holding seed words backup.
Stl files for 3d printing can be found on their github page, and what is interesting that you can make your backup tamper evident with this method.
Capsule stem must be broken to take out steel washers, and it is locked with a twist before that.
I am not sure if it is compatible with washers that n0nce used in this topic, but other people may use it also.

5831  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor - seed extraction on: March 07, 2022, 03:51:55 PM
Yes, they do store the seed phrase. It would be possible for a hardware wallet to derive a root seed number from the seed phrase and then delete the seed phrase, but then the hardware wallet would not be able to use passphrases to create additional wallets. Since the seed phrase and any additional passphrase are both used as inputs to the same PBKDF2 function, if your hardware wallet supports passphrases then the seed phrase must be stored on it somewhere, even if the user cannot access it.
Some DIY hardware wallets like SeedSigner are using nonconsistent storage, so every time you turn off power from your device you lose all information from memory.
This means you would have to import your seed words in SeedSigner each time when you power on device, but this is fast process with QR code import system.
I think this is better option for devices that don't have secure element installed (read Trezor), it is safer and you don't have to worry if someone will hack your device.
Some people would argue this is even better approach than using closed source secure elements in hardware wallets (read ledger).
It can be a hastle if you use hardware wallet all the time and turn it on/off, but it is good if you just hodl coins and make only few transactions.
5832  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Ukraine war on: March 07, 2022, 03:27:30 PM
+How many wars have Bitcoin experienced so far?
-Nothing
Wrong. There are many wars happening around the world all the time, just start counting ones that United States started, last one is still ongoing  in Yemen but nobody talks about it, than you have four years in Libya, than war in Syria (Russia and US involved), war in Iraq, and maybe some other I don't know.
Israel is in state of war war all the time with surrounding countries and within, and many other local wars happened since bitcoin was created.
I am sure I heard African continent having some conflicts in last few decades.

So it is natural that most people, because they do not know the reaction of bitcoin, turn to other assets such as gold and oil. The escalation of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will also cause more fear among investors.
It's not only prices of oil that is going up, but food, grain, rice and everything else, including metals like Palladium that are used for manufacturing of microchips (expect new wave of chip shortage).
China stocked up a lot of rice and all other food, so it seems to me they are preparing for next big world war, and I am not sure bitcoin will save us from that.
5833  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying BTC vs Mining it on: March 07, 2022, 03:16:55 PM
It pays off to buy asic miner for mining bitcoin only if you have free electricity or if you buy with discount price for large mining farm.
Back in the days you could mine BTC even with regular computer (theymos did that with his Intel Pentium processor) but now that is impossible.
I think buying bitcoin when some dip happens is much better option today instead of investing same money to buy miners with all other expences.
Dollar cost averaging may be the safest option for buying, maybe every week or every time you receive paychek.
5834  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Risk assesment of hardware-based exploits on the network on: March 07, 2022, 01:52:54 PM
Unfortunately today processor is dominated by Intel, AMD and ARM, so there's nothing much regular user could do. While open source alternative such as RISC-V exist, it's not very competitive in terms of price and performance. The only good news is Bitcoin Core already support RISC-V architecture and few linux distro have guide to run itself on RISC-V.
Nvidia was recently hacked and it was interesting to hear request from hackers.
They asked Nvidia to release their code and everything else with FOSS license for all operating systems Linux, Mac and WiNd0ws, or they will release all schematics, blueprints, code, etc in public.
Nvidia refused to do what they asked, so I think we can expect to see cheap asian knock-offs soon, that are going to be much cheaper than original Nvidia.
RISC-V AI Chips are open source but they are working with Intel on some projects, so you know how the money flow goes Wink
5835  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Writing down seed phrase: printer ink or pen ink ? on: March 07, 2022, 01:40:41 PM
I remember Trezor offered a backup method that requires 'x out of y' backup sheets with a variable x or y based on your needs.  I can not remember the name of this method however, although I do think the name was something similar to 'Schnorr'.  Maybe someone with more knowledge can help me with the confirmation that this method is safer and less vulnerable than a 3 out of 3 sheets setup?
This is called Shamir Secret Sharing scheme and it is used by Trezor Model T, Keystone hardware wallets and I think Airgap wallet is using something similar.
I consider this to be poor man alternative to multisig setup, and this is not safer in any way compared to multisig, with one big flaw single point of failure.
You can see comparison for this two methods with more details in my topic Multisig VS Shamir Secret Sharing.

5836  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The role of crypto exchanges in this war after removing the Russia from Swift on: March 07, 2022, 01:11:46 PM
All this shitty situation is going perfectly in favor of China who are still remaining weirdly quiet, but they have several alternative options for SWIFT.
They even have system called UnionPay that can be used as alternative for MasterCard and Visa, and they have agreement cooperation with big countries like India and Russia.
I don't think they will switch to using crypto exchanges for several reasons, one of them is not having full control over them, except if they are used only for trading centralized government garbage coins.
I wouldn't trust any centralized exchange and it's always better to have coins on your own wallet that you can control.
5837  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: www.bitcou.com ??? on: March 07, 2022, 01:01:50 PM
No valid SSL certificate and 0 Trustpilot reviews. Makes me sceptic a little bit.
Anyone can confirm this or tell me that I am wrong?
I am not sure if this website is a scam but it does look sketchy, and it's not that hard to get free SSL certificate in 2022.
There are no updates from their social media accounts for months or more and they seem to be focused more on German language market gift cards.
It's not worth a risk unless you want to do some testing and lose money in process.
5838  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Why I wouldn't buy Ledger Nano S ever again? on: March 06, 2022, 10:13:54 PM
If only one word became unreadable (which I doubt), then could try to enter both variants of words into the passphrase. One of them would definitely fit. In this case, I would start with word "climb".
I also think the hidden word was climb... now I feel like I am in ledger tv quiz.
This was not the problem with only one word... display is fried and unusable (common issue for ledger nono S) so all words are missing some parts, but some of them are easier to read than others.
Whatever hardware wallet you own it would be a good idea to have one back-up wallet (maybe even from different manufacturer), just in case you need to send your coins quickly.
5839  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor - seed extraction on: March 06, 2022, 10:07:44 PM
It would be easy to change it, but of course installing custom build firmware removes seed.
Some hardware wallets have option for revealing seed words on display, I think it's Coldcard wallet and maybe some others, but you first need to know or hack PIN code.
I don't know how this works and I don't have the skills to examine and try what you want, and I doubt many people on earth can do what you want.
I know Kraken team was also doing testing like this, along with ledger donjon and other unknown people.
5840  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How do you differentiate two same hardware wallets? on: March 06, 2022, 10:01:04 PM
Rule number one for all crypto dummies out there is NEVER use the same pin or password multiple times, and it seems that I have to repeat this all the time.
I know some people who in 2022 still use only one password for all websites and their accounts, just because it's easy to remember  Roll Eyes
If I tell them to use different passwords and password managers, they say it's hard, but people like this get hacked so easy all the time.
