That's true because almost every time in the past that somebody has successfully developed such a device they are either threatened, bought off, arrested or killed.

Please do elaborate on these.

Has been done already link. A search on google give lots of results too

You'd think by now these inventors would have learned their lesson, and knew to either release their design publicly or only sell it to China, Korea, Iran, or any other country that would love to compete with US or Europe.

Hello

I want to store my bitcoin wallet etc. data on my 32GB SD HC Card. But I can't find any truecrypt.org alike software which could encrypt SD cards. Is there any software available for that purpose? Thanks for any responses.

I was able to use truecrypt on my SD card, setting the card up with a separate partition.

Customer table tops can be solid stainless steel round disks with four plate-shaped depressions. Instead of food being delivered on plates, it can be delivered on small trays and scooped right onto the table into those plate-shaped depressions.

I know I like my upscale restaurants to *splork* my food right on the table.  Grin

Good point. Maybe just deliver the table top with the food already on it.

Someone indistinguishable from a human, whom you can talk to, for money... Why does the number 1-900 come to mind?

You'll always have to pay state and SSI taxes (state depending on where you live), but you can at least lower your tax burden a bit. Open an IRA somewhere. Usually you get back in taxes about half of what you put into an IRA (depends on your tax bracket, of course). You are also allowed to put money into last year's IRA up to April 14th of the following year. So if you do your taxes with Turbo Tax, and it says you owe $250, consider dumping $500 into your IRA, and your tax bill will be about $0. Sure it's twice what you'd have to pay for taxes, but it's your money you now get to keep. Also, small business rules allow you to claim a business loss three years in a row. This is a very grey legal area, but you could set up a personal business, say running your own web site service or whatever, do a bit of advertising, and then write off the cost of the server, electricity, internet, and portion of the house dedicated to this server. Since there's little chance this will make you money, you can write off a portion of the internet and apartment you pay for, anyway. Or be creative and come up with your own doomed business ideas that use things you have to pay for, anyway. Just keep in mind that you can claim losses only three years in a row. Fourth year you have to claim gains or nothing business related at all, but then it resets and you get three more years. BUT, as I said, this is a very grey area, so be carefully. As long as it's a legitimate business, it's fine regardless of how much it fails, but it's easy to get caught up and start deducting stuff you shouldn't.

P.S. Don't take tax advice from me! Or at least don't hold me responsible if you do. These are just ideas that are out there. Please do your own research before doing the business thing (IRA thing is 100% legit though)

Am I the only one who finds Matthew's almost romantic ("I care about his well being so much!") obsession with Atlas to be creepier than Bruce's (alleged) obsession with Thai boys? (Or my obsession with naked Chester pics on coffee tables?)
It's not even as complicated as all that. He's just the biggest windmill atm and I'm a professional and extremely convincing troll.

Just be glad I'm not on you, because for a guy who jacks off to animals you're hardly a challenge.

Considering you can't call my parents, I beg to differ  Grin

Also, bonus points for Don Quixote reference.

I was thinking the same thing. This resteraunt costs $175,000, which is the same amount logan's movie theater is priced at.

That's a coincidence. This restaurants current outstanding loan balance is actually about $185k, but due to foreclosure issues I think I can get it for less.

Rassah, could you give more information, such as estimated overhead; cost of the robots/kitchen equipment, how other restaurants in the area fair; will it also accept cash/credit or be bitcoin only; what food, water, gas and electricity would cost.

Electricity costs $0.13/kWh there and gas and water are pretty cheap too. Cumberland is near a fresh water canal, so water is abundant, and it's a coal town, so plenty of cheap power and gas. Overhead would have to include maintenance and repair of the robots, but I can talk to some local mechanics to get details on that. There are a lot of people who work on cars and trains in that area. I would have to accept credit cards too, obviously. Food prices for raw ingredients are probably comparable to those of the rest of the east coast. There are a few other up scale restaurants right in that same area (a NY style, an Italian, and a bit further a French one that costs a fortune).

Is there going to be any staff to speak of working at it? The kitchen is going to have to be inspected and cleaned for the sake of health inspections and you can't really rely on customers to fully clean up after themselves and others. So the eating area would need someone to keep it clean throughout the day.

I may have one person there at the entrance welcoming and seating people, and monitoring the systems on a screen to let mechanics know if something breaks, or place orders if some ingredients are running low. I would need a separate accounting and purchasing department to deal with suppliers, establish prices, and track costs and revenues. Probably three people on ful time staff at most, with maintenance only called when needed. If the kitchen is mostly stainless steel and plastic with many floor drains, it can be set up with soap and water sprinklers, and the entire system can be washed nightly automatically like a giant dishwasher. Customer table tops can be solid stainless steel round disks with four plate-shaped depressions. Instead of food being delivered on plates, it can be delivered on small trays and scooped right onto the table into those plate-shaped depressions. After customers are done eating, the entire table top can be removed and automatically moved to the kitchen, where it gets washed with the rest of the equipment.

Also any exit plan if it doesn't work out a couple of months after opening?

If it fails, it fails. Everything will be sold off and money redistributed to investors evenly. Like all businesses, this is risky, and you shouldn't invest unless you are ready to lose your money.
5828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Free computers powered by Bitcoin. on: October 31, 2011, 02:52:47 PM
Or just write a kick ass computer program that people want to have running 24/7 that will mine Bitcoins when not in use.

+1

You could even do that webbased ....  instead of advertising just have it do javascript mining.   Just make sure everything is disclosed properly in the TOS ..  I think people might accept it if the application was good enough.

put it this way,  instead of seeing Google Adsense all over the freaking internet and full page banner ads all over the place,  if it just mined in the background it might be less intrusive,   as long as it's not completely crashing people's machines and using 101% of their resources.. if capped at 40% or so it might make sense.

That's still essentially stealing their electricity money, and even making them pay more for the electricity than you get back in bitcoin.

I've never made more than $30k a year, and the only time I haven't had to pay federal tax on my income was the one year as a teenager when I only made $8k. Am I doing something wrong here?

Sounds like it. You do have to pay at $30k level, but not at $15k, and it's fairly easy to come up with enough deductions at $20k to $25k level to bring your taxable income down to that $15k (Mortgage? Student loans? Retirement investments like IRA? Personal business running at a loss up to three years in a row?) I make quite a bit more than $30k, but only about 1.5% of each paycheck ends up going to Federal taxes. Then again, I've been doing my own taxes since I was 16, so know about all the deductibles and plan for them throughout the year (using Quicken also helps me estimate my tax bill throughout the year so I can adjust to avoid it too). None of what I am doing is illegal by the way.

Sorry for the long post but i had to say all this.
Now that you've got that off your chest, you could ponder why the "inventors" of these impossible devices always refuse to give a simple unambiguous demonstration that they work.

Because "We are prohibited even experimenting with free energy devices..."  Duh.

I don't see how any sort of "catalyst" can fuse two or more protons together. Until proven otherwise, I will keep believing that the only thing inside those hot foil wrapped tubes are just hot baked potatoes. That way my hopes won't be shattered too much if it turns out not to be potatoes (even if I do really love baked potatoes).

I want to know how anyone can stay in character parodying logansryche or Atlas without going insane.

When you can stay in character for years as a naked cat-man waving his erect penis about, anything is possible.

Thanks. Every time I get discouraged, you say something that gives me back confidence. I've had two more people give me support with this today btw.

How Atlas was allowed to continue on with his suicide threats is beyond me.

I thought you said you were a psych major? You should know that NO ONE who threatens suicide actually ever does it, and those who do feel so alone they never tell anyone. That's practically psych 101. At most he's guilty of being an attention whore  Roll Eyes

Oh, also, totally sucks that SA locked their Bitcoin threat to be private only. I didn't even know they talked about me on there till recently.

You may want to call them now, Matthew. It's getting a bit late.

No rush. Plenty of illegal activity to collect evidence of before bothering. Stop sweating and keep blabbing.

Dude, grow up. This is getting pathetic, and you are getting down to his level, if not way lower.

What makes you think this takes any effort on my part? This is what I do for a living. Just as it's Atlas 'right' to lie, cheat, steal and break the law, it's everyone's right (if not duty) to do something about it. Your inaction is your choice. Anyone who actually cares about Immanuel Ortega will do their part to protect him by alerting his family of his obvious mental health issues.

If it turns out they are responsible for his beliefs and misguided anti-social behavior, I'll have plenty to say to them.

Yep. Because the BEST way to fix things or convince people of things is to tell them "You are wrong!" and "You fucked up!" I though you were a psychology major? Or did you literally mean just a major and not a graduate?

47% PAY NO TAXES!!!(except payroll taxes, state taxes, local taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, school taxes, property taxes, and utility taxes)

Bull Shit. They get a tax return of all their payroll taxes, and get a tax credit on top of that. They basically get more back than they paid in from payroll taxes. They do pay sales taxes (not in all states), gas taxes, and property taxes though. Probably a lot of cigarette taxes, too. How much they actually pay versus how much they get back in tax credits is anyone's guess though.
