I don't see what you can possibly do with .04 BTC.

I was guessing round out the rest of a payment he wanted to make.  Anyway, there's no web-of-trust or anything here, although some people use http://bitcoin-otc.com/.
5822  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's called a correction (waveaddict's bitcoin charting subscription thread) on: April 27, 2012, 02:23:28 AM
No April 25th update?
there was one

Damn it... it got caught in my spam somehow.  I thought I had it set to whitelist that address, but I guess I'll need to check on that.
5823  Economy / Lending / Re: I need 0.04฿ I'll pay back 0.08฿ on: April 27, 2012, 12:19:05 AM
I just don't have enough time to mine it before I need it.
Anyone wanna help me out? I know I don't have a good rep or large amount of posts.

The solar panel, can be thinner than a piece of paper..

The screen same thing..

The touch membrane on a screen..  thinner than paper..

The "battery" would be a capacitor, these come in ALL shapes, thickness's and sizes..

Actually, there is a new type of capacitive touch screen that is actually a solar panel itself, so that you can let your phone charge by simply placing it on the table face up and letting the screen time out.

Awesome.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Ad-hoc Bitcoin blockchain is MintChip.

Nah... it just needs private keys and a way to check balances and send transactions.  You could have a few trusted servers that sign all messages to verify they haven't been altered.
5828  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoincard.org on: April 26, 2012, 09:10:46 PM

-vaporware. why can't anybody just release product anymore without creating hype first

1. People with capital to make a product reality rarely innovate.
2. People who innovate rarely have the capital to make the product a reality beyond a few demo devices.
3. Investors are freaked out right now, and it's going to get worse before it gets better.
4. If you can show enough interest (note the "sign up" link),you can convince investors you might have a shot in this rough economic scenario.
5. Even with interest, I would think this would be a tough sell since it needs a huge density of users to be effective.  Unless they can give them away and make money from transactions or something I don't see it happening.  If they can give them away, I would like 1000 to give away, as well as 10 or so ethernet bridges for people to give internet connectivity to the ad-hoc network.

I'm wondering how this system can prevent spam. What's preventing someone from DDoSing the network with messages?

Maybe you have to pay a satoshi with each message for it to be passed Wink.

Dropping names now, are we?

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure it's not the right name.
5831  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoincard.org the killer app we have been waiting for? on: April 26, 2012, 08:02:34 PM
If that thing is remotely possible it could be interestering for bitcoin... or implementing its successor...

Questions:
If using BTC - how would it store the blockchain etc?
Can that type of tech fit into the dimensions? 1.3mm isnt really much.. and i think a lot of space is "wasted" with PV and battery.. not to speak of the screen+buttons..
Estimated price?

It doesn't need to store the blockchain... it just needs to store the private keys  to sign transactions and have a couple trusted sources to check balances with.

The thickness is impressive, but there are very very thin displays and PVs available these days.

Price will be key since these things are worthless unless a shitload of people have them.
5832  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin up. on: April 26, 2012, 07:53:21 PM
Deflation is not in the mandate either. It's supposed be 2% inflation. They manipulate the figures to make it higher though.

Deflation fits the mandate just fine... The mandate is to keep prices fairly stable.  2% is the upper limit for inflation, not the minimum.
5833  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin up. on: April 26, 2012, 06:37:05 PM
The federal reserve can keep rates low by inflating, when will cypherdoc ever get it?

There is a great deal of USDs held in foreign reserves.  Foreigners are already losing faith in the dollar, and if the Fed keeps printing, many of those USDs will be dumped on the market since the only reason they are held is to preserve value.  If hyperinflation really in keeping with the Fed's dual mandate?  No.  Are they smart enough to realize this?  I sure hope so.  Will a long-delayed period of deflation help shore up the value of the USD and convince those foreigner to keep holding?  Likely.
5834  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: (Updated w/ pics) Watercooled Rack of Servers - 50% completed on: April 26, 2012, 06:22:31 PM
I have a high pressure pump on my LC rig, and I found that when a tiny leak appeared, I lost the card. I shifted the pump to after the cards, thus creating a negative pressure where the cards were. Now if a leak were to occur, I'd simply be suckin in air, rather than forcing out coolant.

In a close loop, there is no such thing negative or positive pressure. Its a sealed volume.

Once you have a leak it isn't a closed loop. Smiley

Besides, restrict the water flow in your closed loop (such as running it through a water block compared to 1 inch hose), and you can bet your ass you'll have negative and positive pressure on either side of the restriction.
5835  Economy / Speculation / Re: zOMG SellOff! on: April 26, 2012, 02:40:02 AM
15K BTC sold from ~$5.14 to ~$4.99.

As I'm posting, the spread is so big that it actually bounced back up to $5.14 afterwards.

i know the price has been fairly stable for quite some months now, but every time i see a new rally/crash thread i still expect to see the price doubled/halved.

then i check and it's only moved like 3%

But bitcoin is too volatile to be taken seriously :p.

And now back to our regularly scheduled topic...
5837  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Bitcoinica for Mining Contracts on: April 25, 2012, 10:49:57 PM
I'm curious as to if the OP is masking his IP through Tor. If not, then ignore this post. If so, then I have a theory.

Whats the theory?

Based on the TOR comment, I'm guessing money laundering via mining, but I have no idea why Phinnaeus Gage is making such suggestive comments without any evidence.

Atlas.

Didn't you hear, Atlas is dead?

5839  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla now purposely delays USD withdrawals from Bitcoin exchanges on: April 25, 2012, 10:06:43 PM
I received withdrawals from 3 different Bitcoin exchanges recently, and all are still pending, the oldest more than a week old now.

So far you are the only person to confirm this (  account to account transfer from a Bitcoin exchange arriving as "pending" ).

It the status still "pending" or has the status changed on any?

I'd love to try it out, but Dwolla suspended my account and is ignoring my emails.  I don't need them, and I don't want to use them anymore, so I'm not going to waste any time on the phone.
5840  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Import private key without special software? on: April 25, 2012, 09:54:35 PM
It can't sweep, but you can import private keys with the latest ( > 0.6.0 ) client with the importprivkey command.
