Well, when project of bitcoin was released, it was innovation idea because there wasn't any cryptocurrency and no one knew what system and structure it was. Than it appeared on market and people introduce it. Bitcoin was and is anonymous way of transactions, there was privacy strictly protected and also people were able to mine bitcoin. So it's the reason of it's popularity, every first innovation idea is powerfull always.

Litecoin was good project at first and also it's most known altcoin even nowdays but it don't has perspective, wasn't king in altcoins and it'll never be. Are they really going for hard fork or this information is wrong? Idea is good but there are many factors why you can't release it. Picture with ID to identify person, won't make anything big. Privacy is protected when you are using bitcoin and if anyone won't return loan, you can't complain he/she.
