Cons:
VPS server can be hacked and they will access your data = BAD. Happened to my provider.
OpenVZ shares kernel with the host, makes some stuff hard. In the future I'd go KVM route.
Overselling could slow your VPS.
Pros:
Dirt cheap, I pay $5 for 2GB ram OpenVZ from ChicagoVPS, 256MB ram for $1/mo
Great for development environments, easy reinstall of OS

You, sir, are correct. But can you explain to me why? If they remade it today they probably would make an action scifi movie out of it. David Bowman would be gunning down HAL 2000 with an M16 and then go after the Monolith with a rocket launcher. The Star Child would be toast before the credits rolled. In other words, you're saying studio driven material doesn't hold a candle to auteur driven material? If so, and I do agree for the most part, then you're implicitly saying that Hollywood material, and even more so, Hollywood blockbusters are often garbage. Yes, they are, very often. It's almost unbelievable $100+ million blockbusters, many times with great actors and directors, with so much obvious plot holes, I simply don't understand how this is possible! It's because studios want as many people as possible to see the movie, and in order for that to happen, you have to make a movie that appeals to the least common denominator. The best films are the ones where the director doesn't really care about box office numbers, and just makes the film he wants to make, without studio meddling. Design by an artist always beats design by committee when it comes to art. I know producers get the final cut, but even so, it would be so easy to fix so many movies out there, sorry I can't give specific examples at the moment, you're a movie guy I'm pretty sure you understand what I mean. |

If you only need web hosting, use a shared host. If you need more than that, get a VPS. If you need more control and more resources, get a dedi.
Actually, what is a VPS? Is it a server in the cloud? And by dedi do you mean a dedicated machine? Virtual Private Server, it means there are a bunch of operating systems in one computer. This makes having a server very affordable. Yes, that is what dedicated is. |

People don't choose for car accidents so I don't think it's a good comparison. She should spend money to help those people break their addiction instead of supoorting them in their use of drugs. This isn't about drug addiction it's about HIV and hepatitis. It's cheaper to prevent the spread of these diseases by managing needles than it is to treat these diseases later. Precisely! It's public health! |
