5841  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why we need ALT coins?? on: December 05, 2013, 01:22:08 PM
Some of us enjoy coins that provide something over BTC, also diversity is a good thing.  BTC might be heavily regulated soon, whereas some coins might be extremely hard to regulate soon like megacoin or anoncoin.

Alt coins don't need to be regulated , because you can only sell them for BTC.
Any vendors accepting megacoin , ultracoin, shitcoin?

That simply isnt true. Let me enlighten you.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=273148.0

Yeah , i'm impressed!  Common.....

Show me one vendor accepting an alt coin and not btc.
I'll show you 100 that do the opposite.

By that argument we should only use USD.

Show me one vendor that uses btc and not usd and ill show you 10,000 that do the opposite.

Has this last sneeze of bitcoin finally prove to you that all alt coins are just clones?
The chinese mentioned only bitcoin , not cryptos , not ltc ppc gorrilacoin.
And... all alt collapsed! Why? Because they are clones, nothing more. Get rich quick schemes.

Also , at least the ratios usd only/bitcoin vendors is improving.
Bitcoin/alts  ... is going down.
5842  Economy / Economics / Re: Please Read!! Help Stop This Madness. on: December 05, 2013, 01:12:25 PM
Because how do these claims apply to the "electronic value storage and transfer system" (EVSTS) as opposed to "currency"?
Does the EVSTS need to be mainstream to succeed?
Does the EVSTS need to grow to succeed?
Does the EVSTS need all of its members sending money all the time?
Thats a very good way of putting it.
And to answer the questions. It has to be sustainable. At current rates the maintance costs are $7.2M/month. Thats 25 BTC/block at block/10 minutes with BTC at ~$1K. In the long term the transaction fees have to pay the maintance cost, since no more BTC are "printed" or "mined" or however you want to call it.
The income from transactions fees is still very low, not enough to maintain the network at current rates by far. The options are either to increase transaction volume by a large amount in the mid term or reduce the amount of miners, thus decreasing overall security.

Or to increase efficiency of mining , we already see cost per GH dropping to 5$ form 100 in the past.
And where did you get that 7.2 M/Month?

Big , big difference. Prosperous country  and wealthy citizen.

Well... Gabon is prosperous... and it's citizens are wealthy. But such cases are quite rare in Africa.

And that picture you have about Angola it's found in most Africa.

I tend to disagree. Most of the other African nations (perhaps with the exception of DR COngo) doesn't have as much natural resources per capita as the Angolans are having. However, I can agree that corruption and bureaucracy is everywhere.

http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/12/02/gabon-eurobond-idUSL5N0JH2W020131202

The country's resource wealth and small population of about 1.6 million mean it has one of the highest per capita incomes in sub-Saharan Africa, but inequality is high and large numbers of people remain mired in poverty.

5846  Other / Politics & Society / Re: On African Poverty and Oil on: December 05, 2013, 12:27:24 PM
You are forgetting that not all oil-rich African nations are poor. There are also nations such as Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, which are quite prosperous. And the relative poverty in oil-rich Angola is due to the massive corruption and bureaucracy.

hey coinmarketcap guy.  I was counting coins for sale and there is way more collossal coins for sale than your site says there are total coins.  how can that be?  it says there are 5 billion and so I bought what I thought was a quarter of all coins.  but no.  there are 500 billion.  fuck you

LOOOOL.
This is going to my archive.

5855  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CoinMarketCap.com - Market Cap Rankings of All Cryptocurrencies! on: December 05, 2013, 12:01:50 PM
you can work out some sort of real market cap etc by using velicty of money and depth.

The problem is if I release a crtpto with 1 Trillion coins and get 1 b or two buys at 0.001 BTC I now have a market cap over 1e 12 x 1-e5  = 1e9 = $1 billion.

you need some sort of velocity of money

Do you really want to see how worthless those altcoins really are?

5858  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Block erupters absolutely waste of money now? on: December 04, 2013, 06:52:30 PM
the fees are astronomically small tho. compared to anything you would play for your own mining.

yeah you can sel lyour knc -  but how much of the original value do you get for it in a year? With new asics  that are 2-3x  more powerful for the same cost - you lose 2-3x of your old asics price.

Also.. there isnt any middle speed alternatives on the market - ether get stupidly expensive 333mhs blockerupters or 150+ghs  rigs.

Anythign in the middle at normal price was ether sold out ages ago or is scamworthy expensive.

Im at leats minign for pure profit at cex.. 0.04 btc paid in.. a month ago then a bit mroe bought for what i mined for it. and  the rest from referrals - so 0.6ghs - with 0.14  that i paid for. So pure profit this far.

I won't brag about the revenues of my miner.
But .. I bought it at 10usd/GH , the guy bought cex it at 70usd/gh.
Where does he have to sell not to loose to much and where do I have to?
Currently even after all this mining , I can still sell my miner on ebay with more than I bought it for.
5859  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At just $1, QUARK will be #3 on the planet on: December 04, 2013, 06:48:44 PM
Seems like it's just a huge pump and dump scheme? What can we actually buy with Quarkcoins?

What can you buy with ANY coins really ? Other than bitcoin and litecoin (very limited), you can't do crap with any yet.

What's important is the fundamentals (good tech, security and branding), and quark looks good in those terms for mass adoption. It's also getting a lot of publicity which helps that factor.

Sexcoin can buy you all kinds of naughty toys...and DvDs.  Grin

On their thread:
First Adult Site accepted SexCoin will be announced soon, stay tuned!
It seems the first isn't yet the first Smiley
