No 'had'. Bitmine is still not really shipping to non-mega customers by what their thread is saying. However, they *are* starting to refund money. http://bitminerefund.com/ Starting is the key word there.

Do check the Bitmine Coincraft A1 thread. Mighty hostile over there. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=291141.msg7003460#msg7003460

Fascinating... just came across Dogies Technobit Hex8A1 setup guide https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=586166
Love the heatsinks.

Hmm. Came across this in a Google ad http://www.michigan-colocation.com/index.php/server-colocation/bitcoin-miner-hosting They are in my neck of the woods. Long ago was there not mention 'pallets of miners being sent to Michigan" in the old thread?
5843  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 29, 2014, 12:08:45 AM
Heh heh... If Bitmine was so chummy with CryptX http://www.cryptx.com/ the folks who brought us PetaHash as to get *them* apparently working miners (now being sold off through https://www.asic-hardware.com/ why so much trouble getting regular customers something usable? Pretty damn sure a pharming company like that would not have put up with non-functional hardware.

This a complete utter disaster,  now used TH/s miners are being sold off.  The 1 TH/s Coincraft Desk with the same # of chips as the AMT 1.2 TH/s miner is going for under $2,000.    Meanwhile we are all waiting for delivery of a $6,000 piece of equipment that is supposed to get ROI.
And another tick on the list of things against AMT/Bitmine.
Yes AMT probably was not directly involved with CryptX but the fact that usable miners were produce by BMch for a single very large customer should have reflected in what AMT could have provided us.
5844  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 28, 2014, 11:42:40 PM
What about hiring a collections agency?   Are we within our rights to have a collections agency go after them?
Only after a judgement is issued against someone. They of course will take a percentage of the amount to be collected but - in many states that is allowed to be added to the bill so to speak.

The Bitmine thread is getting (more) up in arms as well. Again no contact from anyone related to BM.ch in like 2 weeks. Poking around the Bitmine thread I did find out that at least one mining company is selling off some of their used Coincraft A1 gear. https://www.asic-hardware.com/

On the BFL thread the natives are getting downright rabid...
5847  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Official BITMINE CoinCraft series 28nm ASIC miners thread on: May 28, 2014, 05:51:16 AM
I am more and more concerned that Bitmine is just going to turn out, at best, incompetent fools going into bankruptcy, like HashFast, or at worst, scammers who will run away with our money. Therefore I think we should all collaborate and come up with a strategy to file a lawsuit against them. Bitmine should be made to know that IF they do not refund every person who's money they are illegally keeping then they WILL end up in jail. The best course of action for them right now is to issue all outstanding refunds. It is not a joke that they are keeping hundreds of thousands of dollars of customer's money and giving nothing in return. People have posted in this very forum about losing their apartment, or worse, getting divorced and losing custody of their child because Bitmine kept their money instead of returning as per the CPP.

The amount Bitmine owes me is not small, 12000 USD is not a joke. I will do everything in my power to make sure they pay, one way or the other. As I said, we should collaborate on this. gpufreak has already done a great job with http://www.bitminerefund.com/. We need to support that site and help out in any way possible. If need be I will travel to Switzerland to file a case with the police myself, but will ask for help for any Swiss guys here as to the procedure.
Possibly a bit OT but have you talked to the law firm handling the AMT lawsuits? Considering Bitmine is not delivering naturally AMT their 'authorized distributor for the US' for Coincraft-based miners is not delivering either. I'm sure the lawyers would love for this to get bigger.

How many watts/Amp does the ant S2 take?
Has a 1000w Enermax Gold PSU in it and they claim less than 1,100w from the wall. Haven't measured mine yet. The PSU fan is running nowhere near max speed so maybe 1kw or less from the wall?

I hope you have a 1200-1300w backup PSU handy. You'll need that in a week when that underpowered Enermax craps out. While you're at it, get a backup micro SD card ready because when your PSU starts to cutout, it will continually scramble the cheap card that BitMain included with the machine.

Actually I have several 1,200w HP server psu's handy if needed. I'm aware of the sd card issue. I've measured the psu voltage at the backplane PCIe plugs and is at 11.7v meaning the PSU is quite happy so far. Good to know and look out for.

I was a lucky Batch 2 recipient... everything was intact and it worked flawlessly for a week or two. Then the PSU started to randomly shutdown. I replaced it with a Corsair AX1200i and now it runs quieter and cooler. I think BitMain makes a great product but they have been too aggressive with cutting corners to save a dime.
Did you catch the add-a-caps update? Is on their site how-to. Batch-4 has'em already.

Actually I have several 1,200w HP server psu's handy if needed. I'm really not a fan of PC style psu's onve you get over 750w or so. I've measured the psu voltage at the backplane PCIe plugs and is at 11.7v meaning the PSU is quite happy so far. Dinna know the sd card issue was related to the psu per-se. Good to know and look out for.

Seriously OT now... Geronimooooo!

No doubt. Looks like Christmas in there with all them purdy green, red & blue lights blinking inside of it Cheesy Only flaw with mine is that they sent a crows-foot 220v cord. Is used n Australia. Go fig. Since a regular 18ga comp cord ain't gonna do it for now I um, borrowed the 14ga  one from our SEM that has a regular 115v end on it until some 16ga cords come in tomorrow.

Also no instructions of course so had to use their site to make sure not too different than the s1s's. Is simpler actually.
Damn. Off in the OT ozone again...
5852  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL Monarch - Delivery Dates on: May 28, 2014, 03:15:48 AM
Yeah I have to agree putting peoples names in  context as a pedophile is nasty shit.

I for one will tell you   BFL  took 13 + months to refund my 530 usd.  They have not been a good company.

I will also say BFL is not the only shitty company.

Black Arrow  has been pretty bad of  late.
Hashfast never delivered  .
Avalon and KNC  pulled some nasty shit.

You forgot 1 or 2 others nasty messes - Bitmine.ch and their US affiliate AMT with their A1 chip debacle Sad Don't know if BM.ch has delivered anything but AMT sure has not aside from a few battered & DOA rigs and 2 'kits' that sorta worked for a while.

No refunds in sight or offered and lawsuits in progress. Sound familiar?

A good read on general proper thermal mounting and such http://www.onsemi.com/pub_link/Collateral/AN1040-D.PDF Deals largely with discrete devices vs chips but same rules apply. Note the thermal resistances of silicon tapes... not good.
5854  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 27, 2014, 11:52:18 PM
Hmm, S1's back up a bit @ 240USD, 7 underclocked to 140 each gives ya 0.98 TH nom with fair pwr use for a hair under $1.7k.... full speed just over 1.2TH with power use way more than the A1 at its worst. As in around 2.5-2.6kw based on my pharm of 9 all oc'd @ 190 eating 3.75kw...

Well, now 10 Smiley Very happy with my new s2. Costs more vs bunch of s1s but 1/3 the feed bill Cheesy Still a pretty good heater. Would be nice to add another oh, 520 or so GHs to the pharm hint hint...

Wonder how the Technobit/Bitmine/AMT collaboration boards are doing? A lot of promise with that design last we saw and if packaged/powered/cooled right...
5855  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 27, 2014, 11:35:35 PM
The two odd mining boards (two with copper heat sinks, (Other 3 board had black heat sinks)) they sent me, they do not power up at all. It seems they are just dummy boards. Ironically, these were the two boards that got "damaged in shipping" with the 20 pin connectors torn off and caps missing....  They might have well as send me a box of rocks for my $6,000. I believe I was set up, and believe I have evidence to prove it.

I am buying 1.4T miners for $2,500 now. I could almost buy 3 times the mining power for what I paid for this unit.  Shame, shame, shame...
Ja the price drops per GH/S have been stunning. AMT and the other late companies really really missed their sweet-spot for pricing. Only ordered my AMT 520 in late Feb because at the time Ants were $1750-2k each for 180GH so it was 'a good deal'. Only a month later price on Ants began their plummet so got my 1st 2 @ $750 each as I moved on from seeing the AMT rig/kit was not happening for a while... Sad Last I saw a week ago now s1s are like $250 on Amazon and just over $200 direct. Yeesh!
Bet this goes bye-bye as OT.. (it is)
5856  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 27, 2014, 04:08:24 AM

that is fair, I was asleep while it happened, so I didn't get the chance to see it all with my own eyes. All I know is it killed the fuck out of that board. I wish I would have copied the error cgminer was giving me.

I have a few sinks that are the same color as the sink that fell off perhaps I should remove and take a look at the thermal tape.
Aside from being copper or aluminum color doesn't really matter for the loads put on them. I suppose they could have different tape on them though, perhaps dots vs a square. (Hope not.) The anodizing on aluminum sinks is just ascetics. If ya wanna get picky, flat black is best with measurably but still marginal better radiative dissipation..

Definitely check/re-tape the chipsinks and even better find something bigger to use.
Definitely make sure there is good airflow channeled over them as well.

What I mean is they were all copper, but they changed color due to the heat of the chips, http://www.eng-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=194516 looks like it;s the oxidation process taking place at diffrent levels of heat.

I can snap some pics to show you what I mean if interested.
If the copper is changing then serious trouble and probably dead chips. Max die temp is 100c and it takes more than that to make copper start changing color... 150c will start to give a bronze ish luster, around 200 serious color changes start. Good link btw.
5857  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 27, 2014, 02:18:02 AM
Them's the ones! couldn't find them earlier tonight. Good size and good fin spacing so air moves well. Just glue the things on to be sure I'd say.
5858  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New Official AMT Thread on: May 26, 2014, 10:11:07 PM
Got any recommendations for heatsinks? I was looking around for some elongated ones but could not find any that fit the criteria needed to mount here.

Been looking myself. Found the longer/bigger ones on Amazon that Bitmine used in that pic of one of their boards where the long bottom sink fell off. Biggest problem is coming up with a clip of some sort to make sure they say put. Either that or use thermal glue to make it permanent.

If to be kept repairable I'm thinking more of a thick riser bar spanning several chips and milled for clearance that can be bolted down to give a nice wide surface for bigger sinks.

Considering there should be no need to replace the chips, I think gluing on a bigger sink milled if needed (or use a spacer) to clear caps would be best overall. I'm using http://www.amazon.com/Arctic-Alumina-Thermal-Adhesive-Tube/dp/B0009IQ1BU with 1/4" aluminum cubes on my Ants to link the Vcore switchers to the big heat sinks. Should only need the tiniest dollop but only 5-min work time so don't mix more than ya can use.

edit: Hmm. These folks look interesting for sinks http://www.alphanovatech.com/?gclid=CLzm7snhyr4CFckWMgodGjIA3A The 1/8th brick (a telecom size) power converter series looks very promising indeed..http://www.micforg.co.jp/en/cat_dcce.html#eighth-brick

No one mention the fact that the thermal tape catches fire or they'll end up deleting it next time they are on.
Technically no it doesn't.
Under high externally supplied heat source it decomposes with a lot of smoke but when heat source is removed it stops. Same with the circuit boards. Caps are more fun... They pop like a firecracker and spray their guts everywhere Smiley

The heat source of course was the A1 chip innards shorting out and being fed by the nice huge PSU's the chip getting up to at least 500C to do that. Whether the sink fell off first, leading to the meltdown who knows. Still not good no matter how ya look at it.
