5861  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple: Does it scare you? on: January 02, 2014, 11:42:28 AM
You cannot deposit BTC to a "network" in Ripple either, everything besides XRP is tied to an issuer that needs to explicitly be either trusted or at least traded for (you can set up and fill a buy order for BTC.Bitstamp even if you don't have a trust line towards Bitstamp).

Where is the source code for bitlucky.io by the way?

So why not just send it directly? I'm trying to understand the ripple role
5862  Other / Meta / Re: Why no trust in meta? on: January 02, 2014, 11:34:35 AM
I wish scammer profile wouls link to their story
5863  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple: Does it scare you? on: January 02, 2014, 11:31:41 AM
When I put btc into ripple where the hell does it go
It stays with the person/service you deposited to until you withdraw.

When you put BTC into MtGox, where do they go?

Fuck that
When you put BTC into http://bitlucky.io, where the hell do they go? Roll Eyes

Someone I trust, not some random network
5864  Other / Meta / Re: Alternate crypto is huge on: January 02, 2014, 11:30:58 AM
Read our url
Such a persuasive and comprehensively compelling counterpoint.   Roll Eyes

Everyone has seen the url and funnily enough there's still a bajillion threads talking about alts.  I could leave an equally asinine reply and say "read the thread title".  I don't think every alt should have it's own subforum, that would indeed be a nightmare.  Separating launch/giveaways/general threads would just be much easier to navigate then everything all piled in one place.

Too bad there's no trusted party to develop altcointalk.org
5865  Other / Meta / Re: Should the admin install the Tapatalk forum plugin, so we can use Tapatalk to ac on: January 02, 2014, 11:28:47 AM
How about an individual app? without tapatalk

Cant do much without an api. A real api would be nice. That's what the forum bounty should be used for.

Yea, I guess these forums can use some developers to build an app, It just that I cannot use the computer at school to access these forums, I usually finish all my work during language for other classes and then the rest of the day I have P.E. and Music Production Class. So an app can be convenient on the go.

What's wrong with chrome? This forum is quick to load and you just zoom in a bit

I'm leaving this forum if anything changes
I despise other forums for stupid shit like that and themes

Why? Over something that you think might end your world, your just saying that to get to the admins' head so they can say no, we know you love these forums so much.

Yeah part of why I love these forums is for minimal design, ssl, no tapatalk. Many times I wanted to be more involved in xda but was infuriated. This forum is beautiful to use even on my phone.

5871  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: blockchain.info wallet: aliases don't work anymore? on: January 02, 2014, 10:47:13 AM
Removed as a security risk
Any more info on this? What's the involved risk, exactly?

Bad alias + bad password = more vulnerable to attacks than random GUID + bad password?

I know reusing addresses is forbidden mostly
Uhmmm.... no understand.

I does reusing addresses relate to using an alias instead of a guid as a blockchain wallet ID?  Huh

Oops nevermind

Yes usernames are bad because most people will use the same one here, etc. Now if the database leaks, they can now brute force your wallet if they think you're a big target.

5873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fortress is forming a Bitcoin fund on: January 02, 2014, 08:49:33 AM
Fortress is big news, if true, as they will be long-term buyers.

This is also huge. Kitco with a Bitcoin section..

http://www.kitco.com/finance/bitcoin/

Lots of PM stackers will be seeing Bitcoin mentioned when they check their metals prices.

Kitco is cool, great gold prices

Weird fucking website though
5874  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fortress is forming a Bitcoin fund on: January 02, 2014, 08:48:20 AM
Fortress = Fortress Investment Group.

The multi billion dollar hedge fund company (>$50 Billion in assets under management) not the nobody scammer "Trade Fortress".  Maybe that helps people see the headline in a new light.

Ooh now it's exciting
5875  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: January 02, 2014, 08:47:15 AM
No, it's the
Code:
armory_0.90-beta_winAll

from this link:  https://bitcoinarmory.com/download/

I'm downloading from a chromebook, if that matters

How do you get it from the chromebook to the hp?
5876  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory - Discussion Thread on: January 02, 2014, 08:46:53 AM
Hope we can get a x64 version again, it did help with a 2 second wallet file that is now 4 seconds.

5878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ‘Voluntarily Homeless’ Man Lives Off Bitcoin, Android Tablet and a Solar Charger on: January 02, 2014, 08:44:16 AM
Yes it helps real homeless but this idiot is just a wanna be hipster

Why the hate? You can't stand it that somebody is living his life the way he wants to live it? What's "hipster" about scavenging food from trashcans?  Huh

It almost seems like "hipster" has become a derogatory term for anything that doesn't conform to society's norms. Which is incredibly ironic, considering hipsters are basically following a fashion trend.

Because he's being sympathetic, not empathetic. Huge difference.

http://lifehacker.com/this-video-explains-the-difference-between-empathy-and-1487494909

I don't follow at all.  Huh What do you mean?

Real homeless people take it as him mocking them

He's a "wannabe hipster" because you think homeless people think he is mocking them?

You are talking complete nonsense. He's just choosing to live his life in this way. Plenty of people are voluntarily homeless for a wide range of reasons.

But he doesn't want to live homeless, he's doing it for publicity
5879  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am Satoshi on: January 02, 2014, 08:42:41 AM
Come on you guys, satoshi is HERE and one of the public people of bitcoin, but if he moves his coins or reveals himself, bitcoin will die
wallstreet wont compete with him being public
5880  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinSpy: Get alerts on bitcoin transactions for any address on: January 02, 2014, 08:39:36 AM
csv doesnt work for me, it adds "u'"

Error validating Bitcoin address. Probably not valid: [u'1XXX', u'

I think you probably had a space between the addresses, which wasn't handled properly. Should be fixed now. Mind trying again?

ooh looking good i think
wish we get a confirmation listing the addresses too
