5881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I started my small farm in Egypt on: March 02, 2018, 05:39:13 AM
Why Egypt? Isnt keeping your farm cool going to be a major problem??

All cards are with 3 fans working at 40 % till now. Temperature is below 70 c for gpus. in the next month i will start the air conditioning to keep it around this.

why egypt? there is something wrong in electricity here. If you have a building under construction ( It take many years for buildings here to be available for housing because the whole country is investing in real estate) you can apply for fixed electricity of 2150 EGP monthly no matter how much you consume.

i will provide photos next week.
Fixed rate power bill for an under-construction building sounds nice but something like this might not last if more people will misuse it.
There's really something wrong with them, is their electric service provider private?

Using unlimited unwatched power supply to power two ACs, whoa Shocked Just take care and watch the air's humidity.

Quote from: hilariousetc
They're not currently because they obviously cannot have them but this would soon change once they are in fact allowed to via purchasing copper membership.
This makes sense.
Copper Membership is just meant to be a bare bones status that is essentially just a way to automatically white-list yourself and give you some of the privileges that have been taken away from Newbies. I would only support avatars being enabled in any additional higher ranks such as Silver or Gold as I have suggested previously.
I'm seeing links from Jr Members with copper membership's signatures which is way beyond the initial purpose of the perk.
Then, here's an alternative, "Copper Member" should be removed after reaching the next rank: Jr. Member.
5883  Other / Meta / Re: Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 11:40:43 AM
You do realize if Copper members could wear avatars.. they would be required to for higher staking grants.. right?
The signatures will still be the same boring no-color texts and links, managers wont grant higher reward for an avatar worn by a junior or member.
It's up to them if they can request a higher bounty from the campaign manager.
I think that Copper Member is only useful for Newbie account who want to launch their project.
Yes, as I said in the 1st line of the OP. Admins can take that as a suggestion too: "remove the title after ranking up to Jr".
I do not think this is a good solution. Because the avatar is also representative of the bonus campaign and it will reward you for participation. If you open a free avatar, the bounty program will no longer reward that job. We need active people on the forum not only to earn bonuses but also because actively contribute to the forum anymore.
In my opinion, the management should specify how to increase the level. Because new entrants can not have deep knowledge, they are easily discouraged.
thankyou
This is not a solution, it's a suggestion.
Bounties? I rarely see a copper member signature campaigner, adding another perk (stakes) for them would be a hassle for campaign managers.
I think that the reason why most people wish to raise rank is because it is due to the participation qualification of some coins, so I think that "Copper Member" itself has almost no value.
"Copper Member" can not qualify for participation, like "Newbie" and "Jr.Member". Sad

I think that it would be better to get "Merit" by donation.
What are you saying?
Seriously, did you really read the OP?
5884  Other / Meta / Copper Member - Enable Avatars for Junior and Members. on: March 01, 2018, 06:02:58 AM
Since the Copper Membership is only useful for a Newbie, the title must be removed from them once they reached Junior Membership.
But No, members like that special feeling whenever they see that "Copper Member" tag on their names.
Some Seniors and Legendary had actually bought the title just for fun. So here's a proposal:

Make some adjustments to the Copper Member's account restrictions for Junior to Members to enable Avatars.

Some Reasons:
  • It's easier for anyone to be well known with an avatar.
  • Post are more likely to be noticed if a user have an avatar.
  • With the merit system, members who are dying to show their personal avatars will have to wait a little bit longer to reach the rank that enables them to upload it.
  • Lastly, Junior Members and Members aren't required to wear an avatar in SigCampaigs. So, keep those "it will be used for campaigns" replies away please.

Thank you.
5885  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm mining for 4 days. on: March 01, 2018, 05:04:30 AM
Ouch, you bought your 1080ti at the worst timing. It will take years to reach ROI with that price.

Perhaps, since you only got 1 GPU for mining, why don't you start with Nicehash (that's the best place to start for newbies) to earn Bitcoins which can be used to buy another coin or cashout to buy your second GPU (secondhand).

However, $1,200 for a ($700) GPU is a bad deal.
5886  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WHY DO YOU THINK NOT ALL ICO's PUSH THROUGH? on: March 01, 2018, 03:11:22 AM
First, the ICO (Initial Coin Offering) maybe similar to IPO but the whole platform is unregulated and the system that gives coins according to holder's stakes makes a perfect breeding ground for low/no budget scammers.

With that, real companies and entrepreneur groups struggle to be successful with their ICOs.
But if you think about it, they didn't even need ICO to start their business, if they were an established company they must have the budget to start.

People, especially today doesn't trust ICOs.
Most of those can't push through simply because they need better advertisement.
Not just ICO, anything can succeed with advertising. Whether if it was a scam or not, as long as they are reaching the market with eyecandies, there will be a high chance to succeed.

5888  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you believe John McAfee is right about Bitcoin hitting $500,000 in 3 years? on: February 28, 2018, 06:12:31 AM
He runs several ICO projects as an advisor and all the projects he runs are very successful.
His company is a well-known company so trust becomes capital for the success of his project. I think it's very realistic.
No, he is influential and shamelessly using social media to advertise those ICO to success.
For him to say that "Bitcoin will hit $500k" spells a possible new Pump attempt to Bitcoin, this is too unrealistic but, a price surge might be possible after a month.
As soon as we see another $13,000+ BTC price, expect the small fishes to follow that buy signal. And boom, a Pump.

Seriously, a $500,000 BTC even after 5 years is theoretically impossible.

5890  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: What do you think of this new website? on: February 28, 2018, 05:20:12 AM
Your correct on some part. BTW, I am just a supporter hoping to publish their ICO here on BTT since there's no official ANN post for them. They will act just like paypal or stripe, but in cryptocurrency.
I looked at the site. So this thread isn't about feedback and suggestions but an ANN thread in disguise?

The project's goal will be phenomenal if it can reach the mainstream.
Although this isn't the first, as long as they can stick to their roadmap and with the right advertising, success will follow.

#3, for me, online payments must be done offchain (via services like coins or exchanges) to avoid delays especially at high network load.
This can make zero transaction fees too because there will be no coins going out and in their system, or they're just doing this in the background but only claiming that we need fees.

Otherwise, cryptocurrencies alone can be used without these type of services as long as the online stores are accepting them.
So what's the point of being the broker if it just process the payments on-chain?
5891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Why are people so negative about mining? Stop it... on: February 27, 2018, 07:21:33 AM
-snip-
Uh, maybe it just have been happening on its own based on how mining was designed by Crytocurrencies like Litecoin.
A specialized mining equipment like ASICs will always makes the true nature of mining based on how digital currencies are designed out of track.
Same as Pools (Pools are evil too)

ASICs are made to step-up one's game.
Pools are made for standard miners to battle ASICs.
Both makes the cryptocurrency mining a fukcd-up game.

This needs to stop, No  Roll Eyes.
5892  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Patience is a virtue... and the key to mining on: February 27, 2018, 06:53:02 AM
That patience sometimes is bad especially if the person is a total newbie or a no-brainer.
There are times when you are patiently waiting for the payout, something will came into your mind like "I could have getting more than this". And it could be true if we know the right configurations to maximize the profit, which makes patience not the key to mining.

All a miner things need is a complete plan backed up by patient and extensive research right before the plan.

It has been more than 12 months since my friend which is a miner bought a gpu and the last price he paid was $210 for a rx 580. So yes, patience is a virtue, when we talk, he tells me, he always laughs when he sees people paying $1000 for a rx 580 hehe
That's not the "patience" he's talking about, but still agreeable Cheesy
5893  Economy / Economics / Re: Philadelphia's soda tax is crushing the city’s beverage business on: February 26, 2018, 06:32:13 AM
Those said taxes was for the benefits of their own citizens.
Sometimes we have to see the bigger picture to notice the positives than the immediate negatives we see.

Here in my Country, the Govt just proclaimed higher tax rate to sweets and sodas. Consumers and Retailers are complaining as expected.

We, Digital Currency owners will complain if ever a regulation was declared.
Depending on what is regulated, it could take some time for others to accept what's left of their "freedom".
(T/N: If you want real freedom, expect a lawless society)
5894  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Georgia Lawmakers Propose Tax Amendment That Allows Bitcoin Payments on: February 26, 2018, 06:03:21 AM
"news.bitcoin.com" isn't that a subdomain of bitcoin.com where Bitcoin Cash was proclaimed the real bitcoin?
Is that "Bitcoin" they are talking about in the news BTC?

However, the webpage seems positively focused on cryptocurrency news. Good job for them.

Now, I would like to see my Country dictating the same proposal.
It's nice to be able to use Bitcoin for paying tax than just for online payments and remittance.
5895  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can a bad graphics card crash windows? new to mining problem on: February 26, 2018, 05:34:38 AM
In my own experience, a typical bad card will end up crashing the system or freeze the OS.
Either of the two, the problem will always results in a crash. No BSOD.
If you can connect a monitor to the GPU, sometimes a bad GPU displays weird color patters or lines, some has fast heating problems.
You found one gtx 1060 take bluescreen.
No, Bluescreen of Death is mostly caused by a software error or incompatible driver. Some from a short.
5896  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Backup Electrum account on: February 25, 2018, 11:54:03 AM
You can copy the wallet file (wallet_default/wallet_1/*name of your wallet)to restore your wallet to the new PC, but the settings wont be restored.
Usually it's in "C:\Users\*PC_Username\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets" for Windows desktop version if you didn't change the location.
Make sure that you know the seed and kept a written copy in case of data accidents.
5897  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin cash on: February 25, 2018, 07:53:44 AM
Lol, Next we'll be seeing Litecoin Gold then Litecoin Segwit 2x.
Litecoin Cash = Digital Dollar Printer

Seriously, the world of crypto had turned into a scamfest. This reminds me of the internet back in Late 2000's, scam add banners everywhere.
Then, it came up to what we have now, thanks to regulations.
Perhaps, Digital currencies need a different type of regulation.
5898  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: New site, need feedback please... on: February 25, 2018, 06:25:18 AM
I tried and it actually worked, simple as that.
The site is clean and neat, but I expect that you will add advertisement banners after getting enough visitors. Choose the best least annoying place for them.
It's ready for mobile too, the menu changes into a tab when viewed in a small screen, quite nice.
Loads fast even when searching for fork's blockchains, it took less than a sec (is this actually searches multiple blockchain?).

If you can at least add CSS styling for better visual, users might pay a visit..... for eye-candy.
