5881  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to kill Bitcoin? on: November 16, 2017, 10:12:06 AM
Huh
I searched how to kill Bitcoin on the search box and saw nothing, so I'll just start a new one.

Is it true that miners are the one responsible for every transactions?
If yes; why didn't the government of China just ban cryptocurrency mining or am I just missing something out?

If there are no transactions or maybe just less than 10 made transaction happened within 24 hours, how will the mining computer work then?, will it just go idle? What if people decided to hodle their coins, will it be unfair for the miners?

 Huh

The search feature on this forum isn't very good. Use a proper search engine, Google advanced search will return countless results:

Google Search

As long as three nodes are mining a blockchain can survive so China can't kill it by stopping the miners. It would slow down considerably until the next difficulty adjustment then it would be back to normal.
If there were only a few transaction, so what? There is still a 12.5BTC block reward to mine for.
The more people hodl the lower the supply so the higher the price and the greater incentive to mine.

I don't get it. Most profiles have 0 trust. Then there are profiles with red trust -x. And profiles with green trust +x. Am I at DT0? When will you enter DT1 and when DT2? When I gain trust, will I immediately be DT1? Do I need 10+ or 100+ green trust to enter DT2? And is there no level DT-1 for profiles with negative trust?

This thread will explain the trusts system https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=211858.msg2221664#msg2221664

In short, everyone builds up their own trust network and you see yourself at DT0 because you obviously trust yourself.
Everyone will see trust left by DT1 and DT2 members and they will also see trust left by people they added to their trust network. Trust left by anyone else will be hidden by default although you can change the setting to see down to whatever level you want.

5884  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to cash out cyptocurrency for uk user on: November 16, 2017, 09:20:40 AM
As already suggested localbitcoins.com is the easiest way to sell Bitcoin in the UK. You could also try placing a thread on the Currency exchange board here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0

You might even get an offer for the altcoins so you will not need to exchange them for Bitcoin first. But only deal with trusted members.
5885  Economy / Speculation / Re: And We Are Back In The Game! on: November 16, 2017, 08:36:55 AM
I see that hard fork delay panic is ended and we just start to rise again and again.

There are many factors at play here. The cancellation of Segwit2x gave a tempory boost to Bitcoin Cash and was a good opportunity for traders to make a quick killing shorting Bitcoin. Markets never go anywhere in a straight line, the dips are just normal market action. I think the more significant story recently came from the CME. A Bitcoin contract at the worlds most important futures exchange means Wall Street money coming in like never before. That's why the dip we had at the weekend was bought so aggressively, front-running support at $4,500 and with very large volume. All the signs a trader needs to know that this is a very strong market right now.
5886  Economy / Gambling / Re: Seuntjies DiceBot -Multi-Site, multi-strategy betting bot for dice. With Charts! on: November 16, 2017, 07:26:39 AM
how is this bot better than using auto bet?

Auto bet is quite limited in what you can do and DiceBot allows you to do much more. Auto bet pretty much only allows Martingale or anti-Martingale, even with those DiceBot gives extra options like changing the win chance after x wins/losses in a row. It also includes Labouchère, Fibonacci, and d'Alembert strategies and allows you to create your own with the custom list or programmer option.

You also get all sorts of statistics and charts. The only thing it doesn't do is promise to beat the house edge  Wink
5887  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum moderation policy on: November 16, 2017, 07:16:14 AM
i wonder if bitcoin forum is really  forum or just a place where your opinion is monitored and  edited  to please  moderator mood

total censure  for no reason

if i post  in a ICO topic,  "a project without public relation is  not a project"

i dont see offending content  anyway  maybe the  MoD should Order ZORRO costume for Xmass or grow up ....

I really don't think it was anything to do with your opinion. If you had expanded on your thought and explained why you think that, then it would not have just looked like a random comment posted by a spambot. As it was, it falls under forum rule No. 1, no low-value posts. Try and add some value to the forum and your posts will not get deleted.
5888  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is Bitfinex actually scam? on: November 16, 2017, 06:45:30 AM
I do not believe that Bitfinex is a scam and it is difficult to work out whether what happened to you is an execution error/bug or a misunderstanding on your part.

I know it is very frustrating not getting a timely response from support tickets but to be fair that is exactly the same on all exchanges. Bitfinex is no better or worse in that regard.

The best way I know of to speed things up is to hassle them on social media, they don't have any representatives on this forum anymore.

I do believe they are active in r/BitcoinMarkets.

5889  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UK threatens to shut down popular Bitcoin investment site BitConnect on: November 16, 2017, 06:10:50 AM
Please tell me if this is the correct source?

It was in the OP but as you missed it https://thenextweb.com/hardfork/2017/11/13/bitcoin-bitconnect-uk-ponzi-investment/

Bitcoinnect has performed very well and is paying full interest to investors. this company have been operating well for a long time

That is exactly how all ponzis operate until they don't. They pay out existing investors with the deposits of new investors to make it look like there are good returns up until the point they have enough money to cut and run leaving everyone invested with nothing.

According to this BitConnect will be forcibly shut down in just under 2 months anyway.

5890  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: will this transaction ever get confirmed ? 7 days now... on: November 15, 2017, 10:21:01 AM
The fees are getting pretty high on small transactions. i have a faucet that pays my members with block.io min 25k satoshis does that mean every payout i make they will reduce a fee this high ? need to find a solution for that ..

Can you just confirm that I've understood the question here? You are running a faucet with a minimum payout of 25k sats and using block.io as your wallet to send out those payments individually.

Does block.io make off-chain payments to the clients who also need a block.io account?

If not and it's sending blockchain transactions, then is it possible to send a multi-output transaction from block.io? That is, send different amounts to many recipients in one transaction. If that is possible then you will save a lot on tx fees as they are calculated per byte and you will not be duplicating most of the transaction data.

Also, I would recommend switching to a segwit capable wallet. Electrum is ahead of the game on this one, you can use native segwit with bech32 addresses. This gives ~10% saving in size over other segwit implementations that already save ~30-50%. You can upload a multi-output transaction into electrum from a CSV file.
5891  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK Bitcoiners Friendly Banks Business List Localbitcoin Traders on: November 15, 2017, 09:59:50 AM
Bitpay and Coinbase do offer merchant processing but the only possible way they're doing that is by sending GBP from Europe. The only quasi realistic UK exchange is Coinfloor and they have to bank in Poland.

As far as I know, this is the only way to do it in the UK. All UK banks have to comply with Bank of England supervision and that means no crypto businesses. You can trade small amounts that go unnoticed in a personal account, but for any large volume, you need to go to an offshore bank that lets you have a GBP denominated bank account. You are still going to get hit with wire fees for international transfers. I haven't checked it out but Isle of Man or the Channel Islands might be worth looking into.

5892  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: will this transaction ever get confirmed ? 7 days now... on: November 15, 2017, 08:29:58 AM
That one is over the 500 byte size limit to accelerate for free and as the amount is small I doubt you want to pay the $4 fee it would need to get it through. All you can do is sit and wait. The mempool is slowly clearing out so it may get confirmed in a few more days, or if not it will eventually get dropped by most nodes on the network and you'll be able to send it again with an appropriate fee.
5893  Other / Meta / Re: MULTIPLE ACCOUNT on: November 15, 2017, 07:45:56 AM
it's allowed to create more than one account with the same IP , since it's forums here !!

Correct, it is not against forum rules to have more than one account. The question really is what do you intend to do with multiple accounts.

I also heard from my friend that they have many account especially joining free airdrops.

That is basically defrauding the airdrop and will lead to being given negative trust.

When you try to sell accounts, a moderator can give you a negative trust and the account become a worthless. If you involve in a signature campaign with multiple account too, the bounty managers will notice and you will work in vain.

It is not just moderators but any trusted member of the community (DT1 or DT2) that can give negative trust which will make the account wortless.

And what about selling account? Can person do it or it will also lead to neg trust?

Yes, all activity around account sales is likely to be for the purpose of facilitating fraud so it would be thought of as shady and appropriate trust would be given.
5894  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: November 15, 2017, 07:29:43 AM
Does anyone know of a calculator that includes tx fees?

I don't know of a calculator that does but https://fork.lol/reward/blocks show the $ total reward per block and https://fork.lol/reward/fees shows $ fees per block so I suppose it would be possible to do your own calculation from that.
5895  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter bitcoin mining pool - Pays TxFees, Merged Mining, Fair PPLNS rewards on: November 15, 2017, 07:05:55 AM
Where am I going wrong? Seems too good to be true.

If it seems too good to be true.....

Rather than explain where you went wrong it is a lot easier just to show you how to do it correctly. Here is a link to a mining profitability calculator. The major cost in mining is electricity and for the example I've used 12 cents per kilowatt hour as that's an average sort of price.

https://www.cryptocompare.com/mining/calculator/btc?HashingPower=4.7&HashingUnit=TH%2Fs&PowerConsumption=1293&CostPerkWh=0.12

It gives a profit of $66.39 a month which is $807.81 a year.

You do correctly identify the problem with these calculations in that difficulty goes up and the profit is reduced over time. It would be unlikely to recover the $750 in less than a year.

exists:Bitfinex is trading Bitcoin Gold for sure

Bitfinex is trading the Bitcoin Gold they credited their customers with right after the fork. They haven't made deposits and withdrawals available yet. I don't know of any exchange that has.
5897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please anyone help me 3 unconfirmed transactions on: November 14, 2017, 03:17:19 PM

As they are all below 500 bytes you can try and accelerate them for free at confirmtx.com.
If that doesn't work there are only two possible outcomes. Either they eventually confirm or they get dropped from the mempool and you can then send them again with the correct fees.
5898  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How are Bitfinex fees applied? on: November 14, 2017, 11:57:31 AM
You can select a default currency for the fee to be taken from in Manage Account > Account > Fees.

If there are not enough funds in the default currency you have set, then it is taken from the first available balance. So I think the behaviour you describe would mean in the first instance you had BTC available so the fee was taken from there and in the second instance, you used your full BTC balance to buy XRP so the fee was taken out of the buy order.

Also, you will always pay the taker fee on market orders and also with a limit order if you lift the best ask or hit the best offer. You only pay the maker fee if you add liquidity, that is place a limit order away from the price being traded at the moment you place the order.
5899  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: BTCUSD Forecast on: November 14, 2017, 10:03:48 AM
I was looking for a deeper pullback at the weekend, around $4,500 but there wasn't enough selling pressure to get it down there. Since hitting the low of that move at $5,400 price bounced back very quickly and stabilised nicely. It now looks to be consolidating ready for the next move up. Any break above $7,000 is a confirmation of that and any dip is a buying opportunity.

Update: BTG network launched, distributions starting soon
Congratulations on being ahead of the game on this one. You are the first site I know of that has done this. Now I'm just waiting for an exchange to let me have a deposit address to enter.   Roll Eyes
