5901  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: October 05, 2015, 09:58:35 PM
Even though it is no limit, there kinda is as far as good posts.  There are only so many hours in the day and only so many posts that a person can add content to.  If you posted in everything with crap you would be temp banned for insubstantial with sig, and kicked out off signature.

But Bit-X is the gold standard as far as I'm concerned I have been with it a long time.   Their no limit is nice with it running.  If you have Hero or Senior member hitting 1 BTC a year is very doable.  And possibly more depending on your posts.   Once you hit hero pay is pretty nice.  But really full member is where pay starts to get worthwhile.

Indeed, i am trying to turn this into some kind of part time job, but at some point you lose focus and the creativity go away. So its best to just go do something else and come back and instead of reply to people who replied to you.
Its much easier on the mind and its more proper discussion than just posting in every thread on the forum even when the threads are bad and there is nothing of interest to talk about.

Your trying to turn a sig campaign into a part time job?   If so you are overestimating it a bit.  A signature campaign is meant to supplement a little income from your normal posting.   It is not really meant as a part time job.

If you are doing it as a job meaning going for quantity and payment kinda opposite as what i tell people they should do.  I say use the forums normally as if you were not being paid.  This prevents inflation of posts to make it like a job.
5902  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Most Secure bitcoin wallet ? on: October 05, 2015, 09:54:51 PM
Coinbase has a good think that even if someone bypass the password you can activate the 2FA for transaction over x.xx BTC.
This makes even more secure your bitcoins in your "wallet", we should try to get most of the security features.
Even though we don't control completely the funds, because coinbase does not provide private key.

That is part of their security though not giving out the key.   I suspect to get their digital assets insured it had to be locked down pretty tight.

For a advanced user it would be nice to have the private key.  But honestly for a new user they are doing them a favor not handing out the key.   So I think there is good to it.  But i admit I don't completely like the idea of not being able to use a private key and import your own btc into a wallet off their site.

They have something that is called vault but it's something that is confusing.
Even though they give you some keys, but i haven't seen that hey give you the private key.
They say that this vault wallet is more secured but i think it is the same.

Do not trust online services with your money. Even if they say that the,  have vaults, that they give you private keys or whatever, they can be hacked after all and your money will be gone. Secure your coins by yourself.

There are many great wallets that are easily secured. Also use paper wallets and if you have money and enough coins, than you should buy a hardware wallet.

I would agree in most cases.  But for non-technical user coinbase with 2 factor is pretty good.  Coinbase is different then many as they have that insurance.  Read on their site to see what it covers.

But if you are a technical user who can properly keep private key yes it is better, as you have complete control.  Assuming that you store it safely and properly.
5903  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Backing Up Your Bitcoin Precautions on: October 05, 2015, 09:51:49 PM
Hi.  You are telling me its not safe if i send laptop to repair shop then they see my electrum wallet?  Thus they could get my bitcoins if they wanted to?

Assuming you have it set up right they should need the password.  But if you have BtC on a compuer I would remove it from computer to a backup either on paper, or usb.  Make sure it works check before getting rid of it on computer going in for repair.

Also a lot of us on this forum likely do our own repair.  If it's in warranty period yes get the laptop fixed.  But if it is out of warranty I highly suggest looking at laptop sales before going to a repair shop.   Some times you are honestly better off buying new.  And that is sad with electronics but true in some cases.
5904  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: October 05, 2015, 09:48:05 PM
Favorite time of week.  It is signature payout day.  Also of course mining as always.

And looking for items that I should sell.  So far have found a S3 controller that needs flashed.  So need to list it on here sometime.
5905  Other / Meta / Re: How can I recover a purchased account that I have lost access to? on: October 05, 2015, 09:45:24 PM
If you don't have the email address I doubt they'll let you change the password (and therefore obtain access) based just on your word.

So you sold it to a friend and they sold it to someone else? Sounds like it isn't yours anymore anyway! If it's still in possession of your friend, why not ask them?

Badbear and Theymos are known for recovering hacked accounts, I haven't heard of anything regarding bought account. You can try your luck and sign a message from your own address, requesting for recovery of the account together with the signed message from that account proving the ownership transfer.

The OP never said the account was hacked!

I did not sell the account, rather I allowed him to use it while under my cobtrol.

Anyways, thanks for the input everyone. I'll contact an administrator about recovery, and if that doesn't work, I'll pm the current user of the account requesting a payment for the account. If they decline, I'll just leak the account name as being traded around and switching ownership and it will lose its value.

Your best bet would be to go to your friend that used it whall under your control.  I'm not sure if they will recover it for you unless you prove a lot email, staked address, etc.

In one part you mention you allowed friend to use account.  In another you mention you will contact current user asking for payment, which sounds like it's not in friends control.

If it transferred from your friend to another I have a feeling you are going to have a hard time getting it back unless  you have some concrete evidence showing you loaned it to friend.   And then need to say more about story on how this 3rd user got it.  Just is a lot for staff to investigate.
5906  Other / Meta / Re: Trust List Analysis - Alt Account Identification on: October 05, 2015, 09:39:21 PM
Very nice work I really like the idea.  And the method you used seems pretty sound, as some said a few false positives but I suspect you found a good  amount of alt trust with this.

What tool did you use to do this?  Did you make it yourself? Can you tell us some about it.  I enjoy learning how things work.
5907  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Any way to run a spondoolies type machine off of one 220v cord? on: October 05, 2015, 09:32:24 PM
I have a welding plug in my garage that I would like to use for a machine (that isn't bought yet) but wondering if it's possible? My sp30 is runing off of two 15 amp circuits but I know they can run off of 220v and be more efficient.

You could get a 30 amp breaker, assuming you have the electricty compacity for it.   Make sure to use proper electric cabling for it and nice plug.    I would not go though the welding plug unless you are for sure the wire can handle the 220.

So it kinda varies on anwser depending on setup.  But then you would go from receptical to PDU which allows both SP30's to run on it.

meech just went off line

larry12 has been off line for quite a while.

so 25 shares as of now.

Are you using anything to get that info?  Or are you having to do by hand each time?

Just trying to gauge best way for me to watch it as well for fun.  I enjoy watching mining and hashing.
5909  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A new poll for product warranties Bitmain on: October 05, 2015, 09:26:29 PM
I asked to buy bitmain 2 blades, was paying them because my miners have five months, and are out of warranty, but bitmain told me that no longer produce pcb S5, and I had to look on amazon or ebay.
a response of shit,

And I repeat to say, chips are built with poor material, that's why they are cheap.

Now I bought a used PCB, from Tupsu, a user of the forum here, I'm waiting for is that I get.

Can you link to anything to support chips are of poor quality?  Just seems like a big accusation.    It seems like other things could fry a board that chips can't be a catch all.

Where are you getting info on chip material?
5910  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: October 05, 2015, 09:24:07 PM
Howdy folks.
Got ONE batch one in today, mailed on Sept 30.

Clocked at 575mhz
It is at batch TWO clock speed. Oy!

Plugged in, came right up , not much noisier than an s5. Has a fuller small vacuum cleaner sound.
Blows some heat, but not so much, ambient temp low right now.
One board connector was a bit stubborn to attach to but finally went on.
All chips good. No loose heatsinks.

I'll be posting observations.

What day was your order (payment) confirmed?

Also has anyone else from batch one got shipment during holiday?  I assumed they would not have  any shipping during it.  But if this is true they may have shipped before holiday to meet before deadline of being late.

Anyone still  waiting with nothing shipped and no tracking?

I'm still waiting with no shipping notice and no tracking.  I ordered and got confirmation on Spetember 6th.

Wow very suprising on that.  I was hoping with difficulty looking like it was not to slow considering China having holiday that the S7's were being delivered.   I am pretty amazed on the month since payment.

I wonder if they will do coupons and how much they are worth.   Will be interesting once they start working again.
5911  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread Oct 1 to Oct 14 picks are Open. 2x bonus! + a surprise? on: October 05, 2015, 09:17:43 PM
lol hey!  There's no free spot for me!  Wink

+6.76% to + 7.00% Kexkey

Hopefully I don't win.   Grin

Thanks!

I hope not either no offense Smiley.  I was hoping for a week of 2 or so with China having a holiday.  But seems my wish is not happening.

Anyone have a good idea where this hash is coming from?  Are S7's hitting peoples door's from batch one on ones that did not get it yet?  Something is happening for 4 percent (lets hope variance and goes down)

The did skip SP40 so there are hopes of a hobby miner to come

are zero, they already announced they aren't planning to do ANY more "home miners".

I know my chances are slim.  As they likely will not build smaller unit's again.   Just a lot more money in industrial size gear I understand that.

My hope with SP40 is they make one that would be ok for "Hobby Miners" and still big data center.  Think more the SP35 size so one built for racks.   It would not work for home miners just those with a bigger what I call "hobby mining" area.

But again I am not holding my breath.  I realize like SP gear will stay big.

I never was able to find the source, but a user said that SP did an actual announcement saying they would not make any more small form miners. Basically it said that they were abandoning the home miner scene.

If someone has this source, it would be nice to have, good to know for sure.

But i hope they change their mind, we kind of really need competition to rise against Bitmain. Otherwise we'll get milked by the Chinese.

Yes this is true they said this.  But If you read it again I think you missed I'm not talking 110/120 home miners.  I'm talking about a miner that fit's is server rack vs the SP50 monster.

So i say "hobby miner" / professional data center model I would love in SP40 series.  So it would be made for data centers that use racks but not a home miner, but a hobby miner with proper setup could run to.

Again it is a small possibility chances are it will not happen.

Oh i see, my bad. Well a rack miner that has fan control could be really great for home miner in Canada. Just open the window and the miner will be cool and quiet. For the home miner, its more about being in a bite-sized unit that can be plugged in without much problem.

The SP50 is just a monster you'll be chugging around with a crane or something. So i was picturing the SP40 as more home-miner friendly. Like the SP20.

If they do my dream it will be more like the SP30/SP35.  They were really meant for data centers but some used them in hobby setups.   So my dream is they do a upgraded version built for data centers but allow hobby miners to buy.

That SP50 is just going to be a beast with electricity.  You would have to have a data center for it to work for you.   I am impressed if it does match spec they have released.
5913  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Should i start mining? (More info inside)n on: October 05, 2015, 08:47:05 PM
There is a spare room with a window, I'm moving in today so I'm gonna upload picture of the room soon. But I figured out that it's only wifi.

What miner are you using? I don't see that in thread.  But your most likely bet of easy setup is a Ethernet to wifi adapter. They are not to expensive now days.   Check local stores and you might even be able to pick one up (make sure to compare price to amazon, etc).  Sometimes online just is a lot better price.

With spare room that is nice as you should not have to hear it as much.  Also with window I suggest being careful and not putting miner right up against window if you ever have rain or snow, etc.   A little bit of water can kill your miner.

It can be useful to have a box fan blowing air outward. This make it so the heat from the miner more properly is thrown outside and also help to an extend with preventing water and such from hitting the miner.

All in all i mostly do it with the heat. Without a box fan it still get hot inside the room. I have a balcony over my window so no water ever made it in, so i can be thankful for that.

It all depends on what miner and speed of that miner. Some are not horrible on heat.  Then some are like dragon 1T's and S5's that send out a lot of heat.  With it being winter soon some people will use the heat to cool down a room for free.

But if you do look into fan's it's all about the CFM's.   They were doing decent lowes coupons. I got a few fans there for my mining area.

Cats are awesome.

I mean, unless you pick a topic or ask a question, i can't really know what would be useful. I need something to work with. I like to learn so if someone ask something i don't know and i'm interested in the topic i'll usually research it and then i'll know the answer.

Relevant to this topic, i can say that i based my comparison with the best prices i found which was Betarigs;
https://www.betarigs.com/

You can still get over 0.01/ths/day. Kano seemed competitive enough to not bother with the hassle of dealing with "Customers". Damn i hate customers.

It's been a LONG time since I used betarigs there was another site back then during scrypt that normally paid better but cant remember it for the life of me.

As long as you give the speed advertised chances are you will not have to deal with customers.   Only problem is if they don't set it up proper on pool, then you have to contact them and warn in some cases.  In my scrypt day's some set difficulty far to low or high and if not corrected it appeared rig was running bad.

But with SHA it should be more easy with the nice stratum servers most pools have.

Its just that if i want to fix or change my setup a bit, it would cut hashrate for a bit and cause issue. Its a contract so you're somewhat liable. If i'm on Kano and my miner go out for an hour, it usually doesn't even make a difference on my return if i do it during a bad block.

For renting, the other one i know and is fairly old is https://www.miningrigrentals.com/. The one i prefer is nicehash but it has very poor SHA payout lately.

Yes is you are renting if you mess with miner likely you will need to compensate them with some time.  You need to do the fix/changes between contracts you can take rig down to do this after contract is over.

miningrigrentals is quite a bit more on pay the nicehash.  Nicehash just seems to have been pretty bad for a while I'm suprised anyone is pointed at it.  Is there any new sites anyone knows of? Is is MRR still the biggest as far as renting (not including nicehash)

I had hoped that the Adapters had been removed from sale so that they could remove the shipping cost for the adapter. Unfortunately adding an Adapter still doubles the shipping cost, which is ridiculous....

Rich

It's not their fault... blame DHL or UPS.

The shippers may well be charging for an additional package, however if that is the case Bitmain should have made room in the packaging for the adapter.

They could just tape both box together, then slap a single sticker on it. Charging double shipping on this because of improper packaging is kind of rip off. I understand now why people say to not buy an adapter from Bitmain and just grab a decent one at a local electric shop...

One thing people have not mentioned is might be possible R1 and Adapter ship from different places.  In C1 day's they did shipment through syscooling.  So if they ship the R1 and they have hired some cheap adapter buisness to ship adapters then it could be two shipments.

I think it is unlikely of being 2 shipments.   But throwing it out there as a possibility since charged for 2 shipments.
5917  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A new poll for product warranties Bitmain on: October 05, 2015, 07:55:58 PM

But if the problem is a blade or two and you need to ship back the whole thing? Might be okay for a 1700$ miner, but for a 100$ miner? Not so much imo. Or a 250$ S5 might still not be worth the 100$ shipping. Then again probably none of these miners are still under warranty, but still, what if its a small U3? Shipping back is probably the same as buying a new one.

Are you sure they don't allow shipping blades back?  I know they have tightened warranty some.  But I would think shipment of bad blades is still allowed.

I could be wrong though as been a while since dealing with a bitmain RMA.  Are they really making you ship the entire unit when you know for sure it it's a hashing blade?
5918  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: October 05, 2015, 06:56:38 PM
Once you become Hero member rank or Senior member then it would be easy.
If you are a hard worker and your post are good quality then if you post every day 17posts
Then within 2months you can make 1BTC if you join the bit-x signature campaign which has no maximum limit.

Even though it is no limit, there kinda is as far as good posts.  There are only so many hours in the day and only so many posts that a person can add content to.  If you posted in everything with crap you would be temp banned for insubstantial with sig, and kicked out off signature.

5919  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: good places to hide paper wallet ? on: October 05, 2015, 06:52:06 PM
Well many comments are funny so there is one too Smiley
A good way to hide your paper wallet is putting it in a blank bottle
And hide that on the ground http://www.survivalistspreppers.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/buried-money.jpg

With that money (or any paper) I would have a airtight something around it.  That person with money would have one sad day if that glass bottle breaks under pressure.  Depending on how deep keep in mind pressure from above could crush/crack.  For example I'm on a farm if some of the equipment went over that it would be so much pounds it would push into group and pretty much guarenteed to crack or crush the glass.  Unless burred very deep.

I will say I'm not a fan of burying it.  Just to much can go wrong and I don't like that it would be ouside with no alarm, or security to stop someone else from digging it up.
5920  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Best way to earn Bitcoins? on: October 05, 2015, 06:36:00 PM
I've heard of trading before. I haven't looked much into trading bitcoin with other altcoins but I do have experience trading Bitcoin for fiat. I am interesting in learning more at this and learn how to do more of this myself.
altcoin faster trade profitably, despite having considerable risk in trade bitcoin appeal. yeah in altcoin trade at least I can make some satoshi every day Smiley

Trading altcoins for bitcoins is a good way to make good amount of bitcoins.
But you have to be aware about the sleeping unless you have a good bot that does it job.
Recently i lost lots of satoshi while i was sleeping as the price was dumped too much of DOGE.

Some exchanges allow you to have a open order.  So you could put your DOGE or other coins at a sell price that if it drops below that you want to sell.   But if it drops below then goes back up yes... you lost possible profits.

Also so many alts are pump/dump.  Or not a good coin they change icon and name.   That trading altcoins is not as easy as it sounds.  Holding BTC is a much more stable and safer long term bet.
