5901  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano invalid recovery phrase after update. help. Reward - 0.5 BCC! on: April 28, 2018, 01:42:36 PM
I know all 24 words are correct (wrote them very slowly) also checked them on BIP39.
just thinking maybe i mix numbers like 5-6 or smth.
Did you try using the seedrecover.py script that comes as part of btcrecover? If you are fairly confident you maybe have one incorrect word or just got two words swapped... and you know at least one of the addresses from that seed, then the script will find your correct seed easily.

Read here: https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover/blob/master/docs/Seedrecover_Quick_Start_Guide.md

Install Python, download the btcrecover package and then run seedrecover.py as per the instructions... it works.
5902  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S scam device from Ebay. on: April 28, 2018, 01:34:35 PM
The question is... is the actual hardware in the device compromised? or is it just a fake firmware?

If you force an update and/or flash the official firmware... does it still give the non-genuine error?
5903  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory on the BCH chain on: April 28, 2018, 09:08:50 AM
Ok. Now I've figured out that I don't have to have the (not used addresses) which makes it 20 or so addresses. Started the Electrumg (import BTG keys) and copied them into the supplied area. But it only the back button is highlighted and I can't proceed?  Huh
Did you ensure that the keys you copy/pasted into ElectrumG do not have any spaces... and are just the "Private Key (Plain Base58)" keys?  No spaces (Omit spaces in key data)... One per line... like this:

There should be no other text, or prefixes or " marks or anything like that
5904  Economy / Reputation / Re: Check Lauda's untrusted feedback, before you trust her. on: April 28, 2018, 08:47:24 AM
@OP... And what would you say if something theorised that your account is a "sold" account that is not in possession of the original owner? Would you deny this and say that you are the original owner of this account since 2013?

Recent post with "sketchy" grammar and sentence structure:
You take me wrong mate. I have not offered you anything. I do not want to campaigns or anything. I personally do not want reputation of mine get damaged. Don't say my feedback is wrong. You obviously know whether I am right or not in my sent feedback to you.

I am not sure forum rules allow to take the trust away. That is I have mentioned in my post too. If allows lets do mutual understanding on this. There only I am standing.

Old post from 2013 (before the GIANT posting gap) showing fairly decent English:
We all know here that you are doing your best to protect and increase shareholder value. What I'm suggesting is two or three things.

1) Make better announcements when something happens (new rig, new all-time-high, ...). I'm not asking you to make some Apple-like videos to communicate but small efforts here could give us some good rewards.
2) Even if things are beyond your control, make plans about what could happen. Per example, you are actually running BM under your own name. You can start asking yourself if it would be necessary to create a registred company to run your business and where you could locate your company to minimize the risks of some political changes that will come. Possibility to relocate your machines or not. etc..
3) Get some legal advices of what is the best for you at the moment and for the future (what we can expect).

I'm saying that because it seems to be always the same story. I think anticipation is the key to stay alive here.

What do you think ?

5905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Segwit Address not recognised by my Ledger Nano S Wallet on: April 28, 2018, 04:55:49 AM
Ahhhhh this brings back memories... not sure why that thread feel off my notifications list? I never noticed that the OP had made the final reply??!? Huh Apologies for that.

Right, I have to ask the obvious question then... Given that you were copying both LTC and BTC addresses... I assume you checked the LTC "sign message" list for what you believe is the BTC address?

Or used the iancoleman.io tool and set the coin to LTC with your seed and checked those addresses for what you think is the BTC address?
5906  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Segwit Address not recognised by my Ledger Nano S Wallet on: April 27, 2018, 10:52:33 PM
Its obvious you can't help me
Then maybe tell us what you've already tried unsuccessfully? If you've already spent months with Ledger support, you probably should have led with that in the OP...

Your original post made it sound like this was a recent happening and you were asking for assistance.

We attempt to assist and all you say is "you can't help"... And don't provide information requested.

As I already stated, it might seem obvious to you that you're 100% sure that you typed stuff in correctly... It's also obvious to me that I've seen multiple users who were 100% sure their password was right... Or that they had written the seed down correctly... Only to find that in fact they'd made a mistake.

Standard Operating Procedure for troubleshooting is to start with the basic, "obvious" stuff and work from there.

You said:
My Ledger Nano S Wallet does not recognise the initial BTC Segwit Address that it initially gave me.

I transferred the BTC correctly to the Segwit Address given by my Ledger Nano S (Address beginning with: 36ez......) this transaction is confirmed on Blockchain, but for some reason does not show in my Wallet!

I have tried everything including re-setting the device, all the apps, chrome etc but still nothing.

I have also tried exporting the xpub and used iancoleman but this still doesn't produce the Segwit Address my Ledger produced!

I also can't seem to find anyone else who has had the same problem as me - can anyone please help?
Which basically says you got an address from somewhere, you sent coins, you can't see those coins in your wallet.

So we start with the basics. Apparently, this is a waste of your time?

Had you also mentioned all the troubleshooting steps you tried (BTW, "I tried everything" doesn't cut it... That tells us NOTHING)... We wouldn't have to suggest things that you've already tried... Remember, we aren't mind readers! Wink
5907  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Segwit Address not recognised by my Ledger Nano S Wallet on: April 27, 2018, 06:01:28 PM
The address was not mistyped, it is correct. No need to try and post a photo, it won't change or prove anything I have not already stated.
Actually that is exactly what posting the photo will prove... Because then we'll be able to know if the photo matches the address you have stated.

It will also show that the address you sent to was displayed within your Ledger wallet.

What you need to understand is that there have been numerous instances of users on this forum claiming that "it was typed 100% correct"... Only to discover later that in fact the password or recovery seed or address was in fact typed incorrectly.

At this moment, we only have your word for it. It's nothing personal, and given how adamant you are, I'm sure it's true... But a copy of the photo would prove it 100%
5908  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Free Trezor Portfolio (Android) on: April 27, 2018, 12:15:58 PM
Are you planning on opensourcing this at all (github?) or are you planning to sell this for a nominal fee on the Play Store at a later date?... I know that Trezor's are relatively "safe" with regards to having keys compromised etc... but I'm still a bit paranoid when it comes to closed source cryptocurrency "wallets" (yes, I know it's not really a wallet, but still Wink)
5909  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S scam device from Ebay. on: April 27, 2018, 12:05:40 PM
First, kudos for posting this up. If it saves just one person from losing coins it will have been worth it!

Given that the box has been opened (to insert the fake card) and the device has been "used" (already loaded with seed+PIN), you would be VERY wise to force an update of the bootloader and the firmware. This is the only way you can be sure that the firmware is an official firmware and not a compromised version that will generate "non random" seeds like the recent exploit.

Even after doing that, I'm not sure I would personally trust that device to store coins... Undecided
5910  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: URGENT! Sent LTC to a BTC address on: April 27, 2018, 11:52:28 AM
I apologize, and wish there was something more we could do.
That's a little disingenuous... there IS something more that they could do... they could extract the private key and move the LTC. However, they are making a conscious decision to NOT do this.

OP, you should make a watching wallet with this address... if those LTC EVER move... you need to contact coinbase and demand the coins... as they have obviously gone ahead and done exactly what they have told you they can't won't do.
5911  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: BTC Segwit Address not recognised by my Ledger Nano S Wallet on: April 27, 2018, 11:44:29 AM
this is a known issue with ledger nano
This issue has nothing to do with signing messages... what Lucius was talking about was copying an address from the "Sign message" dropdown list of addresses rather than clicking on the "Receive" tab...

When you use the "Sign Message" dropdown box... it shows several hundred addresses and I believe it actually includes "change" addresses as well. In addition, these addresses are not necessarily displayed in chaincode order... so the first address displayed is not necessarily address m/49'/0'/0'/0.

The issues this causes are that if you use one of the addresses from this dropdown list as a "receive" address... it's possible you're actually selecting some address way down the chain like address m/49'/0'/0'/87... which is likely to be out past the "gap limit" that the Ledger wallet is using when looking for addresses with transaction history etc. So, if you receive coins to it, Ledger wallet won't find the transaction.

Anyway, this situation doesn't seem to apply to the OP as they're saying they used the "receive" tab, which should use the first "unused" receive address. So, they either entered the Bitcoin address incorrectly (although I'm not even sure what the odds of generating a valid address when mistyping an address are? Huh)... or they're done something weird like accidentally use a Litecoin address or something like that.

It would help if the OP still has the photo they took of the original address... without that it will be difficult to prove/disprove the mistyped address scenario. Although, using the "Signed Message" option, you can start typing an address and it shows the partial matches. ("Settings -> Tools -> Sign Message", click the "Address" box and type the first couple of characters of the address).
5912  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory on the BCH chain on: April 27, 2018, 08:45:07 AM
BTG had a wallet on their site that stole something like 3 million worth of Bitcoin. But that wallet has been removed. They might be responsible for it. If you understand code you should be able to tell if it's safe before adding it to your site.
From memory... the wallet wasn't hosted on their website... they had a LINK to the scam website (ie. mybtgwallet)... also:
Quote
Based on the investigation timeline so far, the malicious code was injected after the wallet’s listing on the BTG website, sometime on the 12th of November. Once the Bitcoin Gold team became aware of the theft, the wallet’s listing was removed from the website.
In any case... why would anyone put their wallet seed into some random website for some random bitcoin fork??!? Huh People got greedy and in the race to claim "Free Money" they didn't take proper precautions and it cost them.

Quote
I guess I'll reinstall the wallet but install a "normal wallet" instead of an import key wallet. Then after it's installed, try importing the keys. I copied all the keys in the Armory wallet except for the top header.
You can't import keys into a "normal" wallet when using Electrum (and Electrum forks)... it simply doesn't allow you to (to prevent the situation where you have keys in your seeded wallet that are not backed up by the seed). You could "sweep" the coins from the keys though.

Quote
Would it be better to set up a normal wallet with encryption and then import the keys into it?
I don't see how encrypting the wallet is going to help at all... unless you think that it might prevent your wallet from getting stolen? Huh

This is the whole purpose of moving your Bitcoins to a completely new seed first... if your bitcoins are on completely different keys generated by a different seed, it doesn't matter if your old seed/keys get compromised, your BTC is safe... at worst, you lose some shitcoins.
5913  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Seuntjie' Dice bot programmers mode discussion. on: April 27, 2018, 08:32:29 AM
Your original script looked like it wanted High/low changed on the every 30 losses...
Quote
if losscount==30 then
     nextbet = previousbet*1.112
     chance = chance
     bethigh =!bethigh

So I just followed that... if you DON'T want it changing high/low when losing... and ONLY want it changing High/low when there is a win, simply remove the "bethigh = !bethigh" line from the from the "if losscount == 30" section:
Quote
if losscount == 30 then
      stepcount = stepcount + 1
      if stepcount > maxstep then
-- make sure we don't exceed the size of multipliers table
        stepcount = maxstep
      end
      losscount = 0
bethigh = !bethigh <-- delete this
    end
5914  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SimpleFX STOLE over 3btc from me. Accused me of violating rules when I did not. on: April 26, 2018, 11:12:47 AM
SimpleFX is just completely ignoring my emails now. I'm pretty sure they actually plan on keeping the BTC they stole from me without even attempting to discuss the problem with me.
Message dated: 2017-12-27, 03:40:42
@dpcanesm please send us ticket id which you received from SimpleFX Support Team, we will check it out and do our best to assist you.

That's almost FOUR months for SimpleFX to respond to this accusation!!?! FOUR MONTHS! Shocked Shocked Shocked

"Customer Service? We've heard of it..." Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Honestly... a lot of these crypto services just don't seem to give a damn about their customers... and given how much money they're all making, I'm not buying the "we don't have the resources" excuse...

All you need to do is look at the various daily trade volumes... and do the math on how much they make EVERY SINGLE DAY with their trading fees. I guess this is the downside to the lack of regulation and oversight... there is basically zero recourse for people who get screwed over Undecided
5915  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Issue with Multisig Wallet and Ledger Nano S on: April 26, 2018, 08:14:39 AM
Just out of curiosity, did you try my suggestion of saving the partially signed transaction to a file...

So the steps would be:
- Sign with Ledger 1
- Save partially signed transaction to file
- Disconnect all ledgers
- Shutdown Electrum
- Restart Electrum
- Connect Ledger 3 (or 4)
- Open partially signed transaction
- Attempt to sign transaction
5916  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory stuck in offline mode... on: April 26, 2018, 08:03:43 AM
Hello, I have the same problem. I start armory, it always says offline mode. Please healp. Here is my log file.
As achow101 mentioned to the previous poster, you shouldn't hijack other threads. You should really start your own thread!

Anyway, if you manually run Bitcoin-QT... then look under "Help -> Debug Window -> Information"... what is "DataDir" set to?

Looking at your debug, Armory is attempting to run bitcoind, and set it to use: C:\Users\Vitalii\AppData\Roaming/Bitcoin as the Bitcoin datadir... however, it doesn't seem to exist... so Armory cannot read the "blocks" from this datadir...

You may need to set Armory so that it doesn't control bitcoind (File -> Settings -> make sure "Let Armory run Bitcoin Core/bitcoind in the background" is unchecked)... then make sure that your bitcoind (or Bitcoin Core) is run manually and fully synced and then start Armory.
5917  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is the difference between createmultisig and addmultisigaddress? on: April 26, 2018, 07:55:25 AM
The short answer is that createmultisig basically just combines the inputs and then outputs the constructed MultiSig (ie. redeemscript and address etc) onto the console...

Whereas, addmultisigaddress takes the inputs, constructs the MultiSig... and then stores it all in your wallet file for you.

This is why "ismine" is "True" after using addmultsigaddress, because it is now actually stored in your wallet. Whereas with createmultisig, it has just output the information for you, but nothing is saved to your wallet file, so "ismine" = false.
5918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Want to recover my dogecoins on: April 26, 2018, 07:48:12 AM
So what you're saying is that you have a Dogecoin address... but have no idea what the private key for that address is? And you're also unsure as to what wallet you were using?

You'll need to try and narrow down your options... like did you run desktop wallet software on your computer (like Dogecoin Core)? Or were you using a web-wallet (like dogechain.info)?

Maybe try visiting: http://dogecoin.com/ Download the wallet(s) and see if any look familiar... or maybe try visiting https://my.dogechain.info/ and see if that looks familiar. In any case, without wallet files and/or appropriate userIDs/passwords, you chances of being able to recover your coins is very small.
5919  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Using Armory on the BCH chain on: April 26, 2018, 07:07:20 AM
My first attempt was a failure and kind of spooks me. I downloaded this wallet. https://github.com/BTCGPU/electrum/releases/tag/3.2-beta  Is it safe source?
That's the official github... no idea if it is "safe" or not...

Quote
When setting up the wallet it asked what type of wallet do you want? I chose import keys. Then I pasted the large amount of keys that I exported from Armory. This action set off my virus software that said my laptop camera was attempting to connect? Shocked So I let it block it.
Electrum has a QR-Code module in it that uses your webcam... quite possibly the wallet was just trying to initialise webcam functionality. Was this on Windows, MacOSX or Linux?

Quote
And when exporting the keys from Armory. I chose to "save to file" It acted like it saved it but didn't give me an option of where it was saved. So maybe it's somewhere on my computer and my keys may be compromised.
No idea... I've seen other users have similar issues where the "save to file" thing does nothing... I always get a "Save File..." dialog open up... maybe it's a permissions thing. Perhaps check the Armory log file for an error?

Quote
I don't think It would copy to clipboard either. So I just highlighted and copied the addresses (except for the header at the top). Basically all the keys to that wallet. Tons of keys. I guessed I could just import all the keys and extract the BTG.  Huh
Yeah, you should be able to just copy/paste the keys from the export window to the ElectrumG import window... note that if you have literally hundreds of keys which you import all at once, this could make ElectrumG choke...

If you can identify which addresses actually had BTC at the fork... you could just import the keys that match those addresses... importing all of keys just saves a bit of hassle if you have BTC spread over a whole bunch of addresses.

It all depends on your situation...
5920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: April 26, 2018, 02:23:35 AM
test wcg link bot issues dont rewards since 19.04.bytes are bytes no matter how small it is  Smiley

Today i received the payments from the last 6 Days... its a test phase, so no worry.
I had not received anything since last week... I believe it is because of updates to the Bot. I had to "relink" the bot... I typed "help", it asked me to set a language... after that, it told me to:
Quote
Please create a World Community Grid account or modify an existing one with this username: <redacted>
You can change it later if you desire. Click on the link below when done.
➡ Check my account

I then clicked the "Check my account" link and it gave me:
Quote
Your WCG account is successfully linked.
Please insert the address you want to use as payout address (click on '...' Insert my address)

I entered the wallet address again and got:
Quote
Congratulations! Setup complete! Periodically, rewards proportional to your contribution to World Community Grid project under the account <redacted> (ID: xxxxxxx) will be sent to your payout account.
For more information, please visit our wiki: https://wiki.byteball.org/WCG_distribution

➡ Change linked WCG account
➡ Change payout address
➡ Change account name

And a notification that I was getting a payment for previous contribution:
Quote
A payout of X.XXXXGB was made to reward your previous contribution to World Community Grid.

So, if anyone has not received payment for a while... try chatting to the Bot again (type help etc) and see if you need to "relink"...

Maybe we should make this thread more moderateable.
You can't change the moderation type after the thread is created... The ByteBall team would need to create a new thread and make it self-moderated. All that can happen now is that people can report the posts and hope the board moderators take action.
