5921  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 30, 2021, 03:21:23 PM
^^^I also have that "complaint", that I get freebets and wonder what they're for... and at least on one occasion they double sent me freebets, which I begrudgingly informed of, but they let me have them anyway heh. I'm happy to keep on complaining about this, it's a very nice problem to have.

Something I should mention today, as some of you may remember I've been searching far and wide for English commentary football... Amazon Prime starts tonight with live football coverage of EPL. So yeah, I signed up of course for a trial, with some difficulty as you need UK addresses and billing etc, but I'll find a way to extend if it works out. I think OP mentioned that people have been fighting to break the Sky monopoly and it seems it's finally happened.

Already tried the preview videos and they all work -- I'll know from the Newcastle match if it's worth 8 pounds a month (I'd pay double that if I could access it properly without the inconveniences of workarounds!). I doubt it'll be of Sky quality, but just having English commentary would be a huge improvement (and that's not an insult to my current options, it's just that I don't speak or understand much of it).

5922  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Italian Serie A ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 30, 2021, 01:31:02 PM
Nice going on the predictions challenge update man. I saw 3/4 early picks as soon as it went up, it does seem like people have it on alert now haha.

My favorite for the week is Sassuolo - Napoli game, should be very entertaining and my bet on both to score is already placed. If we don't see a couple of goals in this one I think I'll take a pause from football betting Smiley

Sassuolo were featured heavily in early season accas for me but I've actually started to wind down on betting them. They were never really good for me anyway and then after internationals, I found I've not rediscovered my appetite, favourites in all leagues have been pretty much on point but I could be tempted to think heavy rotations in December adds some flavour and spice to results.

But too early for that to happen so I'm actually Napoli in for about 18/10 in my picks for the week!

5924  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: “Saylor bought the DIP”, A Short Bitcoin “movie” on: November 30, 2021, 11:49:37 AM
It's a funny meme, but I don't want any more "Bitcoin Jesuses". What if he will become a big blocker or a shitcoiner because he'll decide that it can be even more profitable or because of his personal arrogance? There shouldn't be any Bitcoin leaders, because beginners can very easily trust all their words, which can create a situation when one person has too much influence on Bitcoin.

Bitcoin holders shouldn't care about short-term price and  they shouldn't care if some Bitcoin celebrity buys the dip or not.

Damn I can't believe I forgot about that Jesus.

Can't remember exactly where it was I first saw/heard of Saylor but it was during a live interview, some time right after the MicroStrategy Bitcoin buy move. He seemed to me remarkably less evangelist than I'd taken him for, and to be fair, all the Jesus labeling on him has really not been of his own making. His buying now merely keeps him in line with the strategy he's set on for his company, though I don't follow him or anyone enough to know if he's helping it along.

And to cope with hashrate increase/decrease, difficulty adjustments roughly every 2016 blocks. This is the design.
Difficulty adjusts exactly every 2016 blocks, which is roughly every 2 weeks.

Brain knew that, at least it thought it was saying it Wink
5926  Economy / Exchanges / Re: How Can I Buy Bitcoin With Debit Card..? on: November 30, 2021, 10:39:26 AM
^ Unless OP's thinking of using a gift card debit card, or a preloaded card, or even one not belonging to them.

At least in 2019, I know some LBC traders were offering a physical service to buy Bitcoin using cards with a high fees. They owned shops/merchants accounts. You'd be sent a link to buy a service or digital product, pay that, with a high premium, and they release Bitcoin. AML's cracking down hard on that kind of thing now though.
5927  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is there a fatal flaw in bitcoin? on: November 30, 2021, 09:07:11 AM
As the hashing rate is reduced, transactions will slow.

As pooya87 said above.

Average block time is 10 minutes. This is the design.

And to cope with hashrate increase/decrease, difficulty adjustments roughly every 2016 blocks. This is the design.

Miners have, at various periods in time, been demotivated or disincentivised to leave, and that's fine, as well as expected. And the network adjusts difficulty to accommodate or compensate. But there is always new motivation and new incentive for different people to mine. Increasing hashrate over time proves this.

This design has worked for over 10 years. You might say it's a proven design.

Besides, largely thanks to upgrades and increased adoption, TPS on Bitcoin has been trending up across its years of operation. Not down.
5928  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Singapore approves Bitcoin fund that trades physical BTC on: November 30, 2021, 08:41:30 AM
The good side is that they buy bitcoin and thus make it easier for big players to buy directly from them without going through the platforms.
You're right, but I have mixed feelings about the "insured custodian" part... I have limited knowledge about such services but I'm assuming there'll be added fees [since we're dealing with big players here, that would probably result in significant fees] and in addition to that, If something bad were to happen, how are they going to pay back those amounts [e.g. its value/worth at the time of the purchase or something else]?

Perhaps the problem is the intention of the Fintonia Secured Yield to provide direct loans to holders of Bitcoins.
They did mention not "rehypothecating the BTCitcoin collaterals" but that seems too good to be true!

Yeah I don't know much about it myself but I'm sure it's going to end up as BitGo being their licensed, insured custodian. There really isn't anyone else as good or as insured. This doesn't really mean much for them though, it only gives them the best of what's available.

My guess: Fintonia wants to be the Southeast Asian NEXO. Do OTC trading for up and coming whales, while deriving physical BTC from lenders, and paying them interest from the fees they'll charge to the buyers.

Note that NEXO, via Bitgo and insurers, already have ~$350 million insurance coverage but that doesn't even cover 1% of total assets under management.

So United took points off Chelsea. Would have been a glorious win if not for the penalty gift. 15 corners and it was one-sided but Chelsea were actually toothless in the box.

Happy days!
Lots of games coming up over the festive period. This is the best time of the year for football betting. So many games in quick succession.

You won't believe how happy I am to be approaching this season. Work wise a bit difficult to manage but football always salves the pain!

Could be the last we see of United before they finally dip their toes into the gegenpress Ralf's acolyte made famous with us Wink

I know they think they can also now play attractive football but they're so used to buying superstars to win titles for them, not sure it's in their psyche to actually build a winning team with foundational talent.

We'll see if the Glazers have the stomach for it.
5930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: November 29, 2021, 02:57:34 PM
~
P.S. They're rated outside the top 5 teams to win UCL. How?

I have just checked a couple of bookmakers (I can only check local ones since I am at work and I need a VPN) and I see that PSG is top five contenders for winning the Champions League. Yes, PSG are in 5th place and are quoted quite low, but isn't that justified by their weak performance? They have great performance in the home championship (but we all know that doesn't mean anything) and modest in the Champions League. In my opinion, their assessment corresponds to their real chances.

Ah that must have changed then since I last checked. They were in top 5 pre-season, but were 6th favourite when I looked mid-way. It's not just group finishing I think, PSG should go far but I think they just can't see them even reaching a final. Maybe odds have shifted once more now, and that's perhaps because of post-international club performance.

Again, bookies odds correspond to pundit analyses but okay, even 5th place seems too low for a team with a chockful of talents... and Ramos fit again yeah?
5931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io Betting discussion thread rev on: November 29, 2021, 12:08:47 PM
Thanks for the timely update as usual. 32 more days and just 2 more peeps left to knock off before we hit our (more or less) consensus-agreed target of 30!

Betting-wise hasn't been very good but I see that the Gazza special was voided, so I do get back some money I thought I'd lost already when Everton fell to Brentford (we have Burnley bad weather to thank for that I guess). Woohoo! Put my final November Clubhouse freebet on a 2-prong acca tonight with a super boost on poor Derby... I think they're relegated but they've been great value bets since getting all those points docked. Gotta feel for Rooney man.
5932  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is recovering on: November 29, 2021, 11:36:56 AM
I wonder what it means by recovering, the price can be stagnant in the range of $53000 to $57000, that doesn't mean that it has recovered, it is just stagnant in a certain zone waiting to determine what will be the next move if it will rise or if it will fall too much. with this virus variant the markets are back and having dark times

Sort of like me trying to recover from old bad habits. Every time I think I'm round a corner I stagger back into a rut. I usually don't think there's much any more to new Covid strains but this particular one seems to be coming on at the same time other figures are coming out all over the world for Q3 economy. Inflation up, jobs down, bleak times and doom prophets getting bolder.

Much as Bitcoin could be one of several safe havens, it'd have to survive some battering first.
5933  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Saw my 1st 'hybrid' Bitcoin ATM this morning. on: November 29, 2021, 09:43:13 AM
As I posted above I'll be back in the area after the new year, I'll do it then. If for some off reason I am there before I'll do it then.

Biggest issue is I have to do most of the walk again since I started walking at Manhattan Ave & 101st and ended where St. Nicholas crosses Amsterdam. Which is probably 3+ miles. I really really think that it was 130s and I know it was before the Dunkin Donuts at 155th where I got a cup of coffee that didn't suck.
Beyond that I can really been off. so while I think it was in the 130s, as I said above it could been in the 120s to the 140s. And since I am a paranoid idiot, I have the GPS tracking off on my phone so I can't even look back as to where I stopped for 15 minutes.

No rush. I'll remember to check back as always curious. I've been waiting over a year now for BATMs to return to my neighbourhood. They took them down around the time first round of Covid was coming, the speculation from me (and a little from shopowners I spoke to) was that they were going to update the machines to make them AMLD5 compliant. It's been 18 months or so since. Not sure if they've returned or are still in the major cities locations though I know even the one at the airport (a major hub in Europe too) hasn't returned.

Your comment: Sounds like me every time I take a walk in a new area and find an interesting location, I put off actually writing the details down and try to return some days/weeks later... only to find my memory isn't as excellent as I believe. Cities are the worse for me, every big city with decent planning and structured streets seems identical to me.
5934  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin resistance and support price on: November 29, 2021, 07:27:00 AM
But we just had another spike though again this weekend to $56k and counting up. So maybe this is a good bounce or weak one. But it's the start of the asian market right now so I'm expecting that the price will not go down to $53k-$54k.

Probably in the middle ground again, both sides (sellers and buyers) are waiting for any move from each other. But the month is almost over now, hopefully December will be a different one and it will remain bullish.

Mmhmm. Saw there was even a bounce up above 58k as soon as Beijing/Tokyo markets opened for business (8am +8GMT) but it's since tapered off to retain almost exactly the same price this time Sunday. Not long more to Monday morning for Europe and then today, everyone's expecting the strongest retail numbers globally. Not that it's going to prop Bitcoin markets but can't hurt to have some confidence in regular markets on a Monday.

Another late PSG show, as it were. Still can't bring myself to look for a game to watch but I might tune in on a big game one of these days to see what the fuss is all about with this Mess-Mbappe-Neymar supposedly just not clicking.

Quite a long time ago it was mandatory to watch the absolute most complete and stylishly satisfying player yet we're missing out perfect teamwork. They played but their up to the mark. Few have criticized Messi for not having any assists or goals but in today's match he have three assists. Messi, yet Neymar, Mbappe most prominent players and will rebound.

There you go. He's already scored for them, and gets 3 winning assists en route to a complete comeback. So why are people still feeling the pain about him? I probably should go watch a game next week.

P.S. They're rated outside the top 5 teams to win UCL. How?

Tough for Flamengo in the weekend final, btw. Caught a clip of a Palmeiras player writhing in agony after the ref tapped him on the back. Gotta love the Brasileiro huh. I've seen my share of embarrassing dives but this one takes some kind of cake.

Well, buying the dip is always a good idea ... but I doubt that $50 000+ is the real dip. The recovery in my opinion is going to push the Bitcoin price down to between $20 000 and $30 000 and that will be the real dip.  Wink

Although this would also set the stage for a possible sub-20k dip and then we'd be witnessing history as Bitcoin's never gone down below an old ATH from a previous rally cycle after setting a new one. Not that it'd mean anything bad for the long term, just another point to make for those who believe the old Bitcoin cycles are actually over and that we could be entering a new, long, multi-year age of a slow burn bull without 85% drops (which, at current ATH would see a severe crash to 10k).
5938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Sportsbet.io ⚽ Spanish La Liga ⚽ Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 28, 2021, 04:56:14 PM
Trofo still on the top so far, but surprisingly Top 3 in this pool's leaderboard doing crap this round -- or is this no surprise since the favourites are dropping points like a kid dropping Halloween candy? -- 3 draws means 3 zeroes for me though Espanyol looks like they'll hold on for the win for another wrong prediction for me...

That's for sure the worse, casperBGD, to not win as a fan as a a predictor, the worse is always betting against your team and losing though, which is why I can never bring myself to bet against Barcelona. I never even bet on them to draw or to use positive handicap, and I guess 99% of fans who bet also never do that against themselves or am I wrong to assume that? Smiley

Actually, I used to think this was the case too. I've never bet against Liverpool or my local team. Just can't bring myself to do it, even when value bets present themselves (cup games usually I'd say for Liverpool or when they're huge favourites just based on form). But the last time I discussed this with some sports gamblers, apparently there are many who bet against their team just so that if they lose, they at least have some consolation prize money. Hedging bets, if you will. I see nothing wrong with that ha.

Hey DaveF. Could you return and ask to make a pic maybe? Curious actually. And the training you'd need to do for that sounds a bit more than regular. Seems ripe for someone to come and take advantage of a careless employee.

Maybe a bit off-topic, but just saw the new South Park special and people were all accepting only Bitcoin, though the insinuation was less than savoury (fly-by-night MLM ponzi, which of course, is ironic given the setting was 40 years into the future, making Bitcoin 50 years old and ill-fitting for the fly by night label heh).
5940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Sportsbet.io's English Premier League Football Pool Discussion Thread on: November 28, 2021, 03:22:03 PM
Urgh Brentford. I knew they were the favs but Everton's been on a terrible losing streak without their Brazilian I thought for sure they would break it but at 64th min, it looks like bookies are on track.

No surprise Leicester and City are ahead too, but Watford seems to love scoring late. Spurs game postponed, heavy snow, wonder what that does to our special?

Are you betting on United today? I mean Chelsea is better but odds @1.55 for a win against United with new manager look a bit like joke. Wanted to place that bet but fair price would be @1.8-2 for this game. This way I am skipping it.

Not yet but yes (updated in my thread actually). There's a massive Super Boost on this one, and I was tempted to put a nice big fat ML on United, just for the heck of it but ended up just putting something a bit more regular than usual. They've got nothing else they need to motivate them for the win, and Chelsea I've been waiting for a long time for their guns to finally sputter -- wholly unsustainable xG rate.

United with Ronaldo, Fernandes, Sancho and everything else for 6.64? I don't know value if that's not it!
