5921  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoiners, don't give up yet. Bitcoin can't do it alone. on: September 29, 2019, 06:10:14 AM
As far as I am concerned, we really only need around 2-3 cryptocurrencies of the following five types;

1. Pure cryptocurrencies, e.g. Bitcoin, Litecoin and BCH
2. Stablecoins, e.g. Tether, Circle and Libra
3. Smart contract coins, e.g. ETH, TRON and EOS
4. Privacy coins, e.g. Monero, BTCP and ZEC
5. Corporate liquidity tokens, e.g. Ripple and Stellar.

Overall, that means there should be around 15 cryptocurrencies. Can anybody convince me otherwise?

Very difficult to put it any better than this. We can expand this list a bit and add another 5 categories to take the total number of categories to 10. 3 cryptos per category would mean a total of 30 different coins. And right now we have more than 10,000. IMO, sooner or later, we'll be witnessing a major consolidation in the altcoin market and many of the smaller coins are going to vanish.
5922  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do u think about BNB? Worth to buy? on: September 29, 2019, 05:17:04 AM
Since Cz released information about lending on Bnb I have released and also the last IEO that I participated in has suffered a great loss. it is enough as my learning to be careful in having altcoin as a portfolio. although indeed the current development is quite good binance

Don't expect the IEOs to give you profit all the time. Initially they benefited from the hype surrounding the IEOs, as investors had an assumption that they were safer when compared to the ICOs. While they are safer in that regard, nowadays many of them are returning losses to the investors. It looks like the scammers are now turning their attention to the new format.
5923  Economy / Economics / Re: Please, we should not totally eliminate fiat currency on: September 29, 2019, 05:10:29 AM
From what I have seen so far in this forum and other crypto platforms, most of us want fiat eliminated. But let us not forget that there are still situations whereby we can't use crypto except fiat like in rural places without computers or even internet facilities.

LOL.... sounds as if Bitcoin is in a commanding position to eliminate fiat currency from the globe. But the reality is far bitter than that. It is an entirely different topic what the crypto-users want to do with fiat. What matters is whether they have the means to do that or not. All I would say is that, right now cryptocurrency poses no challenge to fiat cash in any form.
5924  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should the libra project be halted? on: September 29, 2019, 05:03:36 AM
For the past few months, I haven't heard anything positive about Libra in the mainstream media. It looks to me that the project will be either delayed, or dropped altogether. Libra was Zucker's idea of getting some forward momentum for the stagnant Facebook. FB is facing a stagnation in user-growth and loss of market share to other social media platforms such as Twitter and Reddit.
5925  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold exist 1000+ years. while bitcoins exist 10 years. on: September 29, 2019, 04:57:32 AM
What is the big deal if bitcoin is young and just exist for at least 10 years? There is no big deal on that since bitcoin has a great and advanced technology while gold is just a precious metal with a price on it. Gold is an old fashioned way of storing value while bitcoin is an advanced asset which it can help you to gain more interest on your money compare to the traditional assets like gold.

Gold may be old fashioned. But it is still very effective as a store of value. You can compare the United States Dollar with gold. During the past 100 years, the purchasing power of USD has declined by more than 97%. On the other hand, the purchasing power of gold has remained stable during all these years and it is still being used by billions of individuals around the world to store their savings.
5926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 29, 2019, 04:41:51 AM
I will be more a soccer fan than cricket, it's disgusting when you wait for a match long time and end up no match  Cry

LOL... cricket was popularized by British expats during the colonial time, as it gave them an opportunity to stretch their arms during weekends. It is not as physically demanding as other sports such as football and rugby, and at the same time gives the participants a chance to indulge in outdoor activity. Times have changed... and now we have T20 matches... Even T20 matches takes more than 3 hours each... I guess very soon we'll be moving to the T10 format.
5927  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs dead? on: September 28, 2019, 06:19:45 PM
Nope, ICO is not dead. Actually, in the section of alternative cryptocurrency (bounties) there are many new project. Yes, some of the ICO's are dead but not all of them like that. Choose wisely on every ICO's you want to participate so you will not regret.

We are talking about the ICOs and not about bounties. And the number has come down by as much as 90%. Earlier, we used to have hundreds of new ICOs every month. This number has now come down to a few dozen. And even with this reduced numbers, the success rate has not improved. The vast majority of them fails to achieve the soft-cap, due to the depressed condition of the market.
5928  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is Ripple not dead? on: September 28, 2019, 05:57:51 PM
If the only loser in 2019 out of 2600 suspects is Ripple, how is the community cleaning up this f--ing mess that we find ourselves wallowing in?

It is impossible to destroy Ripple, because it is a heavily manipulated and centralized cryptocurrency. Somewhere between 80% and 90% of all the circulating tokens are being held by the promoters (most of them indirectly) and they keep the trading volume high with the help from bots and manipulators. Unfortunately, the price rise during 2016/17 has attracted some ordinary investors, who continues to pump this shitcoin.
5929  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will the listing of CARDANO to binance help the price? on: September 28, 2019, 05:38:15 PM
I regard Cardano as one of the established altcoins unlike the recent ones such as Revain and Enigma. And I don't think that listing of Cardano on a major exchange may not alter its fortunes in a big way. It is already being traded in a huge number of exchanges and its trade volume collapsed after it lost 98% of the price during 2018. The Binance listing may not give Cardano a permanent boost.
5930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 28, 2019, 05:32:41 PM
Quickly went through Vijay hajare trophy's schedule and it seems like BCCI messed it up big time. majority of scheduled game in Dehradun washed up completely due to rain. they should manage their schedule according to mansoon season and ruled out the mansoon effected cities for games. India is big country for $*&# sake.

It doesn't work that way. Hosting rights are given on rotational basis, and this time I guess it was Uttarakhand's slot for hosting some of the matches. BTW, only the Plate league matches are being played at Dehra Dun. The Elite league matches are being played at Bangalore, Jaipur and Vadodara. And all the matches scheduled for Vadodara had to be abandoned as a result of rain.
5931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: September 28, 2019, 05:27:26 PM
Overdependence on Ashwin can backfire. Ashwin is a bowler who has performed poorly on normal tracks. Almost all of his good performances came on pitches which were doctored to suit him.
There is no doubt that the pitches starts to get cracks in the fourth and fifth day and it will be spinning tracks, Ashwin has a bag of tricks up his sleeves as well to trap the opponent and we have seen that throughout his career and one thing i noticed is that, everyone was performing to their optimal when Dhoni was the captain and when Kohli became the captain he started experimenting new players and hence there is a lot of competition for bowlers.
Only if someone gets injured another player gets a chance which is weird considered India used to struggle to find genuine bowlers for decades.

Ashwin has a lot of variations. But he has been playing international cricket for so long, that many of the opposing batsmen now knows what they should expect from him. I am not saying that Ashwin will not perform well during the upcoming test series. But I won't be surprised if the strategy of preparing pitches to suit his style of bowling backfire on India and Keshav Maharaj destroys the Indian batting lineup.
5932  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Altcoins ever come back again on: September 28, 2019, 02:57:34 PM
Please don't forget the fact that the altcoins are still having a market cap of around $55 billion. If we add up the stable coins and the Bitcoin forks, then it will amount to even more. The main issue here is that the altcoin expansion happened too soon, and many of the coins don't have any practical usage. A lot of fragmentation has happened and if the altcoin market has to stabilize, then a consolidation is needed.
5933  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Anyone suggest me a Good ICO or an IEO? on: September 28, 2019, 02:23:33 PM
At the moment, the most top-end and most reliable projects are running on launchpad binance. On Binance, 80% of projects are profitable. Therefore, I want to draw your attention to it. I use it myself, but because of top-end projects it's hard to go there...

At least as far as the IEOs are concerned, I don't think that we can link the past success rate to the future returns from new projects. The hype surrounding IEOs is declining, as far as I could see. Therefore I don't think that the new projects will give as good returns as the previous ones. But still, you can go for projects which are listed in Binance and Huobi, as these exchanges carefully screen all the IEO applications.
5934  Economy / Economics / Re: Average savings across the globe on: September 28, 2019, 02:16:12 PM
My country can't relate... I don't even expect my country to be on the list knowing the situation of most individuals here. It's easy for people in those country to save money because they're already developed. While my country is in the third world, we're still struggling hard. Though we experienced it before in our history, having equal value to usd...

It may not be accurate to say that those living in developed nations are able to save more than those who live in the third world. Take the case of Japan for example. The living expenses are so high, that young couples are being forced to delay child bearing. On the other hand, the living expenses can be more tolerable in the developing world.
5935  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 28, 2019, 02:06:16 PM
Its not just Pakistan. Majority of Asia has been hit by these unnatural showers which are probably due to climate change. The Indians are facing a similar dilemma. Cyclone Hikka is the primary cause I believe which is heading towards Oman currently.

The Indian domestic matches have got affected due to rain, so I am not very surprised to read this. The Vijay Hazare Trophy is underway and the majority of the matches have been washed away. Even the practice match between South Africa and Indian Board President's XI got affected as a result of rain and ended in a draw. Sadly, the PCB might incur heavy losses if they decide to reimburse everyone who had purchased tickets.

If anyone is interested in watching the Nepal vs Singapore T20 match, then the online live streaming has been made available by the Singapore Cricket Association (SCA) for free. It can be viewed in YouTube here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZGC8CrgHWM

This is the second match of the series. Yesterday, Zimbabwe had defeated Nepal by 5 wickets. These matches will be having the international status, as per the latest communique from the ICC.
5937  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Cryptocurrency threatens governments on: September 28, 2019, 12:58:25 PM
Cryptocurrencies do not represent a threat to governments and majority of them doesn't even think so. The thing is that they don't want to stop the progress that cryptocurrencies represent but they want that to be under certain conditions and one of them is regulation. In.modern societies everything is regulated in a way according to some rules in order to functioni properly within.society so cryptocurrencies are not exception.

The threat is not to the governments, but to the economies. And a bad economy can negatively impact the hold of the government on the general public. But I would rather say that as of yet, Bitcoin hasn't grown enough to challenge the government or to have a big impact on the national economy. But the governments are wary about Bitcoin user base increasing with every passing year.

The South African first-choice spinner (Keshav Maharaj) had a good outing and he picked up 3 wickets for 35 runs. Dane Piedt on the other hand had a forgettable match, after he went for 80 runs. This will increase the likelihood of all rounder Senuran Muthusamy getting a slot in the playing XI for the first test, but there is also a chance of the South Africans going to the first match with just one spinner.
5939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ODI cricket and general cricketing discussion [self - mod] on: September 28, 2019, 12:46:20 PM
Very strange that the entire match got washed off. Rain was not predicted for today and what happened was really unexpected. I am not sure what will happen to the remaining matches. As per the weather agencies, there is hardly any chance for rain. But you never know whether they will be right or not. Feels bad for the Pakistani fans, who waited many years for an international match.

Yeah, you are right. We'll never know if we'll be able to watch the 2nd and the 3rd ODIs. Climate change has taken a toll on international cricket this year, almost all the series experienced rain interference.  And I believe September is post rainy season in Karachi but currently experiencing heavy thunderstorms. But let's hope that we'll be able to watch atleast some cricket on Monday.

After watching the news footage about the Karachi thunderstorms, I don't think that the ODIs will proceed ahead as planned. The magnitude is so great and I don't think that the weather will get any better during the next 4-5 days. Let's hope that at least the T20 series will go ahead as planned. The T20 series is scheduled to start by October 5th.
5940  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 28, 2019, 12:38:04 PM
Test Cricket requires a lot of patience and calm head which I think is a bit lacking in this young Afghanistan team as of now and this is pretty natural as they haven't been playing a lot of first class cricket at this level.

The Afghan players don't play the 4-day format very often. A large number of them have signed for various T20 leagues around the world (such as GT20, CPL, BPL, BBL.etc), and most of the time they will be concentrating on that format. They have a 4-day domestic tournament (2019 Ahmad Shah Abdali Cup), but I don't think that their top players have enough spare time to take part.
