5941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check your risers, miners... on: February 21, 2018, 02:30:57 PM
Seems like the heat came from the connector not the wires.
Sometimes, these was caused by over-bending the connector resulting in stretched ends, equals high resistance between the wires and the metal contacts.
The other wires look like heated by something thin, those aligned melted or scarred ring-like marks seems like bent around a metal edge for a while.
5942  Other / Meta / Re: 1000+ sMerit points FOR SALE in the Marketplace > Services! Updated on: February 21, 2018, 08:16:29 AM
Correct me IF I AM WRONG. If that account is from another then you can only see the activity and merit but in the picture you can see activity, posts and merits. See and observe the picture
You're wrong. Seeing people's post counts next to their posts is a setting that you can toggle.
This checkbox on the bottom page of the "Forum Profile Information" (the same page where you edit your signature and avatar) toggles it on and off.
This was turned on by default.
"cant load img"
These guys must have curiously toggled if off before.
5943  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is this Venezuelan Petro Contract?: 0x716E12433FD0261E4fC4AE9f7a1EB30B76539Bbf on: February 21, 2018, 07:14:21 AM
Simple, if they didn't announced it, those were not Petro Contract tokens.
It's too easy for a scammer to make an ERC20 Token that has an identical name to an expected ICO for their future evil plans.

Before the official announcement:
I think we are going to see more Petros in the future.
He already said it.
5944  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Upcoming v3.1 features on: February 21, 2018, 03:18:43 AM
I don't know why watch-only wallets need encryption, they must have added that feature based on requests.

Me, I'm going to wait for news before upgrading.
The saying: Don't try to fix it if it's working sometimes applies to updates.
5945  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Limitations of Blockchain. What are they? on: February 20, 2018, 11:02:54 AM
Bitcoin's solid security brought by the cryptography-based (public ledger) system known as the Blockchain have a lot of limitations
but not one of these (bold and colored):
There are many limitation of blockchains like: Complexity, Network size, Transaction costs, network speed, Human error, Unavoidable security flaw and  Politics. It has made cryptography more mainstream, but the highly specialized industry is chock-full of jargon. Thankfully, there are several efforts at providing glossaries and indexes that are thorough and easy to understand.
Seriously, how can an automated public ledger produce human errors? What you wrote were typical human handling errors that are not exclusive and caused by the blockchain.

Anyways, things that I'm noticing are:
[1] The Full Node's increasing file size, the current 145GB+ of Data may be easy to store in any HDD/SSD (not even mentioning the synchronization speed), but somewhere in the future it can grow up to 1TB that can be inaccessible for some.
This can lead to standard full node users to use 3rd party clients, nodes could be exclusively owned by huge groups or companies due to its inaccessible size, might result in less nodes, more centralization.
There are couple of possible solutions to this, in the future, developers might find a solution to this even before the full node reach that level.
Let's say, start by not increasing the block size.

[2] The 51% attack. Today's hashing power might be phenominal, even with the unethical mining system we have now known as pools, a 51% attack is nearly impossible.
But when the 21m BTC supply was mined, miners will surely shift to a more mining-profitable coin that can lead to a lower Hashing power.
With that, one of those huge pools can easily gain more than half of the mining operation, it's up to them whether they use that advantage to help or destroy btc, things will differ depending on our view of digital currencies at that time.

It's easy to assume that new technologies can pave a road to a better future, yes it can, but all had gone to a phase that required us to deal with its own limitations.
5946  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Using MAX potential of high-end PC? on: February 20, 2018, 06:08:58 AM
I see that you are new to GPU/CPU mining.
You might get sufficient responses in the Mining (Altcoin) Board, I believe that this thread belongs there.
You can move this topic to the said board for this might not get any attention here.

FYI, there is a blue "move topic" button just below the webpage.
5947  Other / Meta / Re: LIST OF THREADS GIVING AWAY MERIT POINTS FOR QUALITY POSTS on: February 20, 2018, 05:42:24 AM

5948  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: anyone 3d printing the mining rig frame? sick and tired of building one on: February 20, 2018, 05:24:36 AM
Try to contact the author of this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=504802.msg5561110#msg5561110
He got a downloadable files for you to 3d print a mining rack, maybe he got some for sale.

If you know any 3d printing service or you got your hands on a 3d printer, his files are ready for printing. -update- Links are dead.
5949  Other / Meta / Re: logout: Hidden trust on: February 19, 2018, 11:26:18 AM
As a Guest (logged out) Visitor, you cannot see the default trust because it is a feature solely built for the Marketplace where someone without an account can't participate actively.
When you login, it will become available again.

Merit however, is a part of your profile like "posts", "activity" and "position" which are useful informations even for guests.

Anyone can reproduce that no trust-link screenshot by opening anyone's profile in an "incognito mode" window.
5950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goodbye Bitcoin Hello Blockchain on: February 19, 2018, 07:03:07 AM
Bitcoin may just have be one of all the thousand digital currencies today, but take note that this is the Pioneer and the most widespread among the list.
There are still underlying developments on the way which always aims for better usability and solutions to scale, no other old digital currency made it this far without having their own unique developments.
This is like telling the mainstream: Goodbye Fries Hello Potatoes.

Agree 100%, thats why I just invested with these guys, check out the mint token sale at https://incremint.io/
It's a new ICO that offers protection to token buyers through decentralized escrow (something we know is needed in the space). They are really ramping up, get in while you can.
These guys will take every opportunity to advertise their scam coins.
5951  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Noose Is Tightening around Bitcoin on: February 19, 2018, 06:13:01 AM
A newbie account spreading bad news... Sounds about right.

He has a nice haircut. Story checks out.
I got curious, watched the vid:
"Lonely Man Saga"
video title said right from the start, seems legit (fingers crossed).
5952  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AHHHHH Nicehash Legacy is making me pull my hair out!! on: February 19, 2018, 03:41:35 AM
Have you tried running the rig only with the 6 stable GPUs?
Could be the slower one, most of the time, problems are caused by factory defects.

-edit-

Free power? I see, you installed your rig in the basement of a library.
5953  Economy / Exchanges / Re: HitBTC Exchange on: February 18, 2018, 10:22:44 AM
Isn't there a warning that you should check that you are sending the right token to the right address. Luckily eBTC is an ERC20 token which means it have ETH address and recoverable.

You should be careful next time, if it happens to another blockchain, it might not be recoverable.

But honestly, HitBTC have one of the worse customer service there is. I'll avoid that exchange if I have a choice.
Lol, this *(highlighted text) made me chuckle. There are a lot of crypto exchange out there.
All ERC20 Tokens can be sent to any Ethereum Address, therefore, there will be no warning because the receiving address is valid.

HitBTC's team consist of John Doe, customer support; John Doe, front-end developer;  John Doe, Software Engineer; John Doe, technical manager; John Doe, the Janitor, a one-man team.... Just joking.
I don't know why but their customer service was one of the worst among those O-K exchanges, aside from Cryptopia.
Stick to Bitfinex, verification might be a long process, but they have a good service overall.
5954  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum 2 outputs lost 5 mbtc? on: February 18, 2018, 05:55:19 AM
@Angie1 Just read the post right above you, TrustedCoin had charged you 0.00200000BTC for the next 20 Transactions that you will make after that (screenshot) transaction.

0.0001/tx x 20 = 0.002BTC

Next time, F2A will not charge its service fee to your (next 19) transactions.
5955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Alt Coin That Gives You Rewards on: February 18, 2018, 05:40:13 AM
Those gimmicks makes those coins and tokens even more suspicious.
For the sake of low trading volume, they offer interests from hodling coins, what is this? Bank accounts?

But whether they are entirely made for profit without any store value or legitimate business, digital currencies will always be cryptocurrencies. When the whales pump them, expect its to be "the most useful" Altcoin of all.
5956  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is ripple bad/corrupt? on: February 18, 2018, 05:06:24 AM
With all the talks about the centralization of Ripple, most of them are likely speculators of the prices of cryptocurrencies.
Do they even care about the technology behind it? No. Might just heard: this is centralized it's no good, that was decentralized it was good.
Now they are replying with "Ripple is centralized" blah blah blah.

Ripple was made with the visions of being used by banks, then why is everyone complaining about ripple being used by them?
As a person, anyone can hodl, mine and trade ripple. Making it the same as every Digital Currency in existence.
Even Bitcoin, Ethereum and Monero are subjected in some "centralized" issues.
If you want a fully decentralized-mannered coin, expect it to be hidden in the black market or will not make it to the mainstream public, otherwise, those types are more likely scam tokens.
5957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PSU not powerful enough or am I just stupid? on: February 17, 2018, 11:16:01 AM
-snip-
Seasonic Platinum 460W delivers 38A (456W) of current to its 12v Rail.
Its Stable 80% is 364.8W which is way below 400W, equals instability.

Seasonic Seasonic X Series 750W has 62A (744W).
80% is 595.2W, just 4.8W below 600W, still not enough juice.

I'm quoting you just to register that what you are saying  is nonsense.
The PSU, a good one, will always be capable of deliver exactly as advertise.
[-snip-]
Did you even read my post, the stated power was for the 12v rail. 80% is the safest load because the Processor, SSD/HDD, Fans and others are also using that rail.

It doesn't even requires a thorough (long, agree to this and disagree to that) explanation to tell the OP author: Get a Bigger Power Supply.
38A / 456W in the 12v Rail.

62A / 744W in the 12v Rail.

5959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Overclocking is worth? on: February 17, 2018, 05:44:48 AM
Had once 145 celcius on cpu for 3 hours i7 4770k still working over 4 years
Hahah, then your i7 got less than a year left on its lifespan.

Do not underestimate the overheat, you might not know when, but anytime can be a breaking point.
@OP The Overclock will not break your GPU, but the heat (your Sensors might be inaccurate) or the overclock settings.
The most PGU breaking mis-configuration is the over-voltage setting, the GPU might be stable with a setting but, its down-insides has problems.
5960  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you manage your private keys to make transactions? (offline storage) on: February 17, 2018, 03:46:58 AM
2) Having a paper wallet (encrypted with BIP38). The problem: You can easily lose a piece of paper. The paper can also degrade over time. You would be also stuck with a single public key to get payments, so you would need one piece of paper per address... not good if you need to create new addresses constantly to relieve payments. Controlling coin inputs and outputs it's also harder without software involved.
You can make a backup by encrypting a renamed text (notmyprvkey.txt) into a jpg (notmyprvkey.jpg) file containing the private key by compressing it using any 7zip tool together with a couple of real images.
Renaming the compressed file as "photos" or "porn" might deceive black hats.
This is better than just storing your backup in a hidden folder.
