No BIP 32 is a determinstic wallets proposal. So you can get all your addresses from a single seed.

Can one use the passphrase to re-seed a lost wallet manually without specialized hardware?
62  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Lets talk hardware wallets... on: June 19, 2013, 09:46:12 PM
So, if one gets smashed to pieces in an unfortunate dance-it-out incident, do the Bitcons stored on the wallet get lost?

No they use BIP 32 and a randomly generated pass phase which you have to write down and keep a secret.

That makes sense, thank you.

Will there be a published algorithm to convert the pass phrase into the the private key, or the only way to restore a lost wallet with pass phrase is by purchasing the same model of hardware wallet?

BIP32 is published

There is nothing about pass phrase on this page:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/BIP_0032
It just seems like a way of delegating authority through child keys.
Or is this a wrong “BIP 32” I am looking at?

I am sure this has already been discussed elsewhere, so feel free to point me where.
Thanks again.

That depends a lot on the paper and also the pen. I wouldn't aim for decades with just any random fake sharpie + that free college block with a company logo that you got in a hand out...

For the ink I would recommend Iron Gall:

Time tested.

You can use GPUs for factoring very large numbers.

I could not over clock a Radeon while monitor was attached to an Nvidia card until I put a resistor (dummy plug) on the Radeon AND extended the desktop to it. The problem in Windows 7 was, it would blue-screen when a user would try to move a window to the non-existing monitor.

You mine for no coins until you have 55 posts...

I thought it was 50, when did it go to 55?

Odd that even though our hash rate is up, we don't seem to be finding blocks much faster.

I get that feeling too, it's like extra hash power only dwindles rewards, while not adding speed.
Recentlywe dropped back to 12th/s and luck was very good.

It's like those latest additions are doing empty work / pretend to be working.

Yes, I know that sounds dumb, but still.

Is it possible for someone to submit fake shares? The pool does not check every single share for validity, or does it?

Also, remember the physics, specific heat capacity of mineral oil is what? About half of that of water, if I am not mistaken…

Since wireless routers are cheap, just get another router or access point for your wireless needs, and turn the wireless off on that Verizon POS.

Some motherboards have integrated watchdog functionality. These are usually server/workstation grade boards. I have not done the math if this makes sense financially; just thinking out loud.

Also these boards often have built-in KVM-over-LAN IPMI functionality for out-of-band management.

Links Please of units with all said functions and place to buy....

There is definately a price point cut off for this funtions but considering that my current default mobo Z77a GD65 is ~ $200 in Australia an extra 100 or so would still be worthwhile Cheesy

Here is one with six PCI-Express slots, Watch Dog, and IPMI 2.0 KVM:

Financially, you really have to calculate if it is worth it though. Sometimes you can get piles of used servers for really cheap, when a company goes out of businesses or upgrades.

Woot!   Quick blocks, quick bucks!

Awesome blocks. Unfortunately with over 900 MH/s I still have not managed to sneak a single share in ether one, according to my stats. Luck is not on my side today. LOL

Found my first block yesterday, enjoy my coins Cheesy

Thank you.

What happens when all combined workers start submitting more shares than the pool can handle? Could we be dabbing toes in those waters now, with the cluster performance bridging the 10 TH/s mark?
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Need to buy bitcoins ASAP on: May 09, 2013, 04:50:59 PM
That is what they state on their website. They say to do a wire transfer their bank charges 1000 yen. thats about $10. Also on top of that there is a 3.99% charge.

If wire transfers were free that would be one reason less for Bitcoins to exist. LOL

Notice that I'm missing about 10 to 20% of the reword for blocks 17846 and 17845, 17842 and 17841, 17837 and 17836. Unlucky or a problem? Some are over hour so luck shouldn't be a problem...

I just noticed one of the workers happily submitting shares while the account page says I submitted nothing for over an hour. I reconnected and normal operation resumed.

I wonder if a hacker figured out how to redirect mining streams.

Hey, what was ur BTC mining speeds?

297 MHhash/s In GUI Miner with flags set to “-v -w 128 -f 1”

GPU Clock: 1200 MHz
Memory clock: 750 MHz (not sure if this changes anything, as the card seems to down clock memory to 150 MHz all by itself anyway)

Oh, I forgot. One of the radioshacks had some 100 ohm resistors. Would that work?

Yes

where do i get this nice holders from?

You mean, brass male-female threaded hex standoffs? You can get them anywhere fasteners are sold, McMaster-Carr for example.
