Is there an ETA from MJ on when they'll be getting shipped out?

If altcoin giveaways aren't allowed and NFTs are "altcoins" why does the collectible section get a pass on NFT giveaways and it's allowed there?
Selling a collectible or any other item or digital content is not a giveaway. I see no reason why NFTs shouldn't be allowed to be sold in the collectible sub-board. I haven't looked at the rules for that particular board, but my guess would be that BTC must be one of the payment methods the seller accepts + whatever else he is content with. Do you have examples of threads where they are being given away for free?

Unless you personally know both buyer and seller and are aware of their intentions you can't really claim this was a "purchase". In this transaction the buyer is actually anonymous which could be Nifty Gateway or the seller themselves trying to hype up their platform and get its name mentioned in the media.
True, but in that case you can say that about almost any transaction involving digital coins. That includes those made on gambling platforms, exchanges, etc. It could be just a way to create artificial traffic and attention or it could be legit users trading, exchanging, and withdrawing.

If you think that's bad, take a look at the history of Cryptopunks.

This didn't take long. Page 3 of the collectible section.

Man, I was wondering why the forums didn't have a dedicated NFT marketplace and came across this thread. So much misinformation and contradictory statements I don't even know where to begin.

If altcoin giveaways aren't allowed and NFTs are "altcoins" why does the collectible section get a pass on NFT giveaways and it's allowed there?
Since when is "only" bitcoin the accepted payment method on the forums? Again, the collectible section constantly lists items for sale with alternative payment methods. My understanding was you had to allow payment in Bitcoin if the buyer wants to use it, but were welcome to accept any payment method the buyer and you agreed upon.

But anyways, since the Collectibles forum is allowed to give away NFTs, I see no problem with OP's proposal. Although, logistics aren't exactly clear. But my thoughts are users can submit artwork for the 10th anniversary NFT and then a winner can be voted on and then the NFT can be minted at the OP's expense and then auctioned or raffled away and proceeds be used to support the forum.

File a police report. Have the the police contact Binance. Binance can AND will give up user information without a warrant as long as the request is coming from law enforcement (from my personal experience - all they require is that the request come on official letterhead and/or from an @fbi.gov email address).
65  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [AUCTION] Ballet PURE BITCOIN dual physical bitcoin box set #1 to #21 on: July 20, 2021, 12:58:41 PM
Why wouldn't refunding everyone and just letting them keep the product be an option? As an outsider, that seems like the most reasonable option to me. Everyone gets their BTC back and Ballet maintains a good relationship with the forum. Surely the value of the forum and marketing it does for Ballet is worth more than the .224 BTC Ballet would have to refund (excluding Charlie's bid)… if you guys sold that BTC upon receipt then Ballet may even still make a profit USD wise if you had to buy it back now to refund it.

If you're willing to use MJ as escrow I'll buy it and pay escrow fee. If you have Facebook, just post it on FB marketplace and I bet you'll get spot price for it, basically instantly.

Can you post a picture of your item + time stamp?

Offering up custom stand orders for those interested!

I think it would be pretty cool to be able to make the stand a little more thicker at the bottom and then include the Pokemon's name etched right into it.

It has been a year now and I feel like the scammers are slick and good in terms of evading the authorities. Bave you checked on your contact to prove that the investigation is on-going?

Yes, I sent them a write-up of the new token two weeks ago and they said they were already aware and that the investigation is still on-going. Covid-19 stalled their investigation because the courts were only processing things that were related to loss of life. Hoping that now things are back open that this speeds up.
Well then, I'll send you my best wishes and godspeed to the investigation, hopefully they will be able to find the scammers and I hope that you will update this thread from time to time until the end of the investigation.

Well, it's not a matter of finding the scammers (we already know who they are). It's a matter of gathering all the evidence to show they broke the law along with trying to track and recover the money through the proper legal channels. But yes, I will continue to update this thread as I hear more.

Just saw this reply... Yea new token, AGAIN. Hoping to see some justice this year. Investigation is still on-going.

Now these folks have a DIGau coin? Seems DIGG is used for another rebase coin of some time. There's even a website!

I would stay far away from these people.

76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please Relax About the FBI News.. on: June 09, 2021, 08:56:11 PM
That it why it is really important to follow the flow of the news and investigation regarding such matter to avoid the spread of panic...

let's be honest, does anyone believe that this news has any impact on the price of bitcoin or the entire cryptocurrency market? I doubt that this news was able to even make the market drop 1% of the price. the reality is that this type of news is already something so normal that no one cares about it anymore, what drives the market today are the twitters of those who we all know who is and china, and the US regulators or in case of any attack on any big exchange

The FBI hacked the attacker's server and got access to the private keys... We all know the FBI has some tools and Zero days to do this kind of task but I'm not sure how ethical is a move like that. They are the good guys, but that gives them the privilege to hack a server and take the coins from them?

they can do "anything", they just have to claim a national security issue (well at least that's what I see in the movies)

Here is my theory on the events and how they unfolded.

Colonial Pipeline contacted the FBI as soon as they were hacked. They worked with the FBI and the FBI worked with Chainalysis. CP paid the ransom, as Chainalysis tracked the payment and the funds. They tracked it to a US based cloud server. The FBI filed for a seizure warrant of the server and its contents (private key).

DarkSide wasn't the hackers. They run a Ransomware as a Service site. They rely on 3rd parties to hack other companies. When a 3rd party 'affiliate' receives a ransom payment, it was sent to the wallet stored on the US cloud server. DarkSide then redistributes that payment to their affiliates and takes a cut of the payment for their service. This explains the lack of security on the wallet, as they aren't concerned about a wallet that usually contains such a small amount of Bitcoin.

The FBI physically seizing the server also explains DarkSide's message back in May that said their server was shut down and that their Bitcoin was moved to an unknown address. People at the time thought this was just a lie to lay low, but now it all makes sense.
77  Economy / Economics / Re: Official says US seized cryptocurrency ransom paid to Colonial Pipeline hackers on: June 09, 2021, 05:57:05 PM
Most times, the simplest explanation is usually the correct one. Theres 1 of 2 easy answers.

1) Exchange wallet FBI seized

or slightly more complicated

2) CP paid the ransom. FBI runs their own Bitcoin nodes that allows them to track wallets to IP addresses and hackers didn't use Tor. FBI see's it's a US based IP address. FBI gets warrant to seize the server. Coins located in wallet on server.

Edit: It seems like they (FBI) hired Chainalysis to track the payment.

The question remains: Why would the "hackers" store their coins in an unsecure hosted server? Well, I think this could be explained by the fact that DarkSide ran a RaaS site. DarkSide relies on other hackers to infect systems and when the 3rd parties infect a system and are paid a ransom, DarkSide then redistributes that payment to the 3rd parties (and of course takes a cut). That could explain why wallet security was not a priority, they probably aren't concerned with such a small amount of BTC sitting on a cloud server (of course 1-5 BTC is small amount to a organization ranking in millions in ransom) and weren't prepared for such a large influx of funds. We know CP and the FBI coordinated from the very start, so it's likely the FBI was ready to move swiftly if they had tracked the funds to a server they could seize.
78  Economy / Economics / Re: Official says US seized cryptocurrency ransom paid to Colonial Pipeline hackers on: June 08, 2021, 08:52:22 PM
An update on what we know:

1. The US recovered some (not all) of the ransom paid.
2. The seized ransom was in bitcoins.
3. The funds were recovered because US authorities obtained the private keys that held some of the ransom.
4. It's unknown how authorities obtained the keys, but it was not through a cooperating exchange and had something to do with internet traffic in the US.
5. The FBI obtained a court order to move the coins out of the address holding the ransom.

Pretty much all of the rest is speculation.

1) DarkSide put out a message that their servers were compromised and taken down on May 14th and that their Bitcoin had moved to an unknown wallet. Some thought this was just a lie so they could lay low.

2) But yesterday the FBI puts out a press release saying they seized a server hosted by a US cloud company. DarkSide had wallet located on a US based VPS and the FBI tracked the payment from Colonial Pipeline to it and seized it via court order (the warrant likely was for seizure of the server from the cloud company and not to actually move the funds).

Put two and two together.

I'll take one more in addition to the one I already paid for. Don't worry about matching serial numbers.

Every time there is a discussion about laws and stuff bitcoiners are the first to criticize the government as being stupid, they don't know what bitcoin is, they don't understand shit when in reality I think there are a lot of agents working in almost every branch that has knowledge on par with the oldest members here that were actually involved in at a technical level. Underestimating those agencies just based on some of their failures simply shows how narrow-minded some are, those agencies would have been long dissolved if they would be that useless, but they are still there and one has to remember that before a lot of people even heard of bitcoin they were infiltrating dark markets and taking user after user down.

While this is true, there certainty are some experts on Bitcoin in the government, I think most agents just get cases dropped on their desk regardless of expertise.
