61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should Peter Vessenes resign as the Executive Director for Bitcoin Foundation ? on: April 24, 2013, 10:02:42 PM
There are some rather, quite disturbing in my opinion, facts about the foundation that have never been mentioned on this forum, indeed anywhere on the web, unless perhaps on a members only site.

Could you please elaborate on what's disturbing ?

When I saw and read this thread I thought the same as your last post - "They'll probably do a great job and all, but non-profit ?

There's at least 3 major business owners in the board of important people there." -

So I did some searching and what I found prompted me to join the forum to comment, I will PM you shortly Herodes.

Why don't you tell us all?

I am not one to accuse before I am sure of my facts, Herodes is a long standing member and may be able to confirm some things for me and because he started this thread I don't think he will try to deflect my questioning of the foundation.

When I have collated and verified all my info I will post it here.

" Should Peter Vessenes resign as the Executive Director for Bitcoin Foundation ?"

Perhaps you should give it it's proper name. The Bitcoin Foundation has been voluntarily dissolved according to .gov records and the new entity is called "THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION, INC. DBA THE BITCOIN FOUNDATION"

Well, I'll be damned.

64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PayPal president interested in bitcoin on: April 24, 2013, 04:25:32 PM
Soon Paypal or Western Union will buy MtGox, mark my words.

Yeah I've read Western Union and MoneyGram are looking at trying to adopt bitcoin soon also.  Maybe running a fiat exchange with such tight banking laws as in the UK and US could only be done by major international corporations and not small outfits.  As currently there is no exchanges in the UK any more and with US ones being shut down.  They could corner the market for buying/selling bitcoins centrally.  The sizes of these companies means they have very large legal departments and can fight there way through all the proceeder's.  If any one of those three companies moved into buy and selling bitcoin internationally this could be what makes bitcoin enter the mainstream.  Plus with the high fees they charge it would help bitcoin in OTC buying and selling market.

And no doubt the end of companies like localbitcoin.
65  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FinCen preparing to prosectute some Bitcoin users on: April 24, 2013, 12:55:55 PM
If FinCen start prosecutions against individuals and/or companies the next progression will be confiscation of their assets and possibly the coins they used in their transactions (easily traceable via blockchain) so in theory you could have 100 Btc in your wallet which has been used in a drug transaction and are therefore an accessory after the fact.
Suppose you bought those coins from Mtgox, they have your bank details and are therefore easily traceable.

How many people would like their names appearing in the papers as being connected to a drug or paedo ring?

Possibly another way of scaring people away from getting involved in the bitcoin economy?

I suggest that at the very least Zhou receives an "Untrustworthy" tag.

Good luck with THAT.  Zhou has paid off the forum.  Your coins are being used to update this forum's software.   Wink

68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The UK Public & Bitcoin on: April 23, 2013, 11:25:39 PM
The UK banking system is dying. Recently frequent service outages, nationalised Mega banks, actually had the first bank runs in the West for decades in UK. All the money printing, suspension of rule of law for banksters, now over-regulation of the customers not the bankers and you have a recipe for a complete lock-up.

I'm not sympathetic really, since it is the City of London that has housed and fostered the worst of the criminal, crooked, greedy, corrupt and incompetent banking practices that have been exported all over the West, Wall St. is branch of the City of London in many ways. Blowback is a bitch.

Bank of Dave - http://www.burnleysavingsandloans.co.uk/about-us/

I saw him on the CH 4 documentaries, he visited Germany where community banks are legal and very common, maybe that's why Germany is not in debt like the rest of the West.

Also, because of buying so much, is there anyway to get a discount on market rate?

Hehe. From other point of view it's you who is selling so much dollars, so it's you who should give a discount.

Could be worse, he might trade Euros lol.
