61  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much Bitcoin to accumulate now to be financially set after the next boom? on: March 08, 2019, 12:51:19 PM
It depends on what you mean by being financially set. Bitcoin could hit 150,000$+ in 2023 which means if btc comes down to 1500, it could go x100 in the next boom. If being a millionaire is what you classify as being financially set, then I suppose 30 bitcoins would do it. But remember, diversification is key. Let's say I have 45,000$ to invest for the next boom. I'd divide that money into 4. With these, I would hold not only btc, but also 3 other coins that could go x1000+ (let's face it, a couple of them would) after the next boom. All four might not be successful up to my expectations, but I would make way more money than I ordinarily would if I had accumulated bitcoin only.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / MAKING BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY EASY FOR NEWBIES TO COMPREHEND on: March 08, 2019, 08:33:08 AM
Note: this is a suggestion. Critiques and modifications are welcome.

A lot of people take blockchain as something too technical. A lot of people are yet to understand the real-world value of blockchain technology. Most whitepapers are way too complicated for newbies to understand. Those of us that are developers and have a technical idea of how blockchain adds an extra layer of trust to the internet, find it easy to grasp the concepts of blockchain projects. But for newbies who don’t have much idea of how blockchain works, reading a whitepaper and getting the concepts behind a project is tough for them.

WHAT COULD BE A WAY OUT?
As a matter of fact, provided a blockchain project is not enterprise-level and offers services to the entire masses, it’s important for upcoming ICOs to find a way for none techies to easily grasp their projects, just like techies can easily grasp a whitepaper. May I propose the introduction of a STRAIGHTPAPER?

CONCEPTS OF A STRAIGHTPAPER

ICOs should create a STRAIGHTPAPER with the non-tech users in mind. A STRAIGHTPAPER would be an abstraction of all the technical stuff in the whitepaper. Everything is abstracted into simple non-technical words which newbies can understand. This might require the work of a good copywriter who has a good knowledge of blockchain technology. The work of the copywriter will be to pick the whitepaper of a certain project, read and internalize the whitepapaper and simplify the whitepaper on a STRAIGHTPAPER such that everyone including non-techies can understand it. This will go a long way in attracting new users into the interesting world of blockchain technology. Since anyone can easily understand the STRAIGHTPAPER, even individuals that have never encountered blockchain technology before can easily read, understand and contribute to the success of the project.

A STRAIGHTPAPER BOUNTY MAY EVEN BE POSSIBLE

Projects might even decide to add a STRAIGHTPAPER BOUNTY to their bounty campaigns, where good copywriters are given the chance to submit their written STRAIGHTPAPERS FOR moderation. These STRAIGHTPAPERS could then be added into projects’ bitcointalk ANN threads so that anyone, even those without a technical background will have a clear understanding of the project.
Soon, I will take a project and create a STRAIGHTPAPER for it, just as a sample. I will create a thread for STRAIGHTPAPER samples of projects where I will paste my STRAIGHTPAPERS written for projects. Trust me; you will be amazed as to \ how such STRAIGHTPAPERS could go a long way towards bringing more interested people to projects.

64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should ICOs be regulated on: March 03, 2019, 09:40:19 AM
In my opinion, yes. Many icos now are a scam. they raise money, then run away with your money. Regulation of ICOs will reduce the rates of scam. I believe that regulatory authorities are working on this.
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs dying off? on: March 02, 2019, 07:21:02 AM
No, they are not. they are only slowing down and getting ready to take off. I don't think ICOs can ever die off. At worse, they will become more regulated.

67  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to keep your funds secured? on: February 24, 2019, 02:02:09 AM
No exchange is safe. your best bet is to get a hardware wallet to store your funds. only go to exchanges if you want to buy/sell. But never store on exchanges. If you can't afford a hardware wallet, another option would be to download the offline client of MyEtherWallet and create your wallet offline. that way, your private key would never step online. Then, you can store you tokens on the wallet created offline. If ever you decide to use that private key online, take all your funds from it and send it to a newly created offline wallet.

Just make sure your private key never gets online. if it does, simply change wallet.

69  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Margin Trading on: February 24, 2019, 01:54:05 AM
ROI ( return on investment) is high, But so is the LOI (loss on investment). Even if you use as little as a 3X leverage (which is the highest any professional trader should be using for bitcoin), The ROI is still super-high (except of course, when volatility is bad). But, you have to be careful and set SL/TP everytime, no trade exceptions!

76  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Who do people dump tokens below ICO price and how can this be stopped? on: February 09, 2019, 11:05:05 PM
Due to 5 main reasons:
1) low margin of token utility
2) Huge ico discounts
3) The bounty hunters
4) poor marketing
5) the overall market conditions

LOW MARGIN OF  TOKEN UTILITY

Market growth is driven purely by a balance between supply and demand. When companies run ICOS, they distribute utility tokens which are to be used to perform some functions on the platform. These tokens don't represent a share of the company (except it's  a security token), hence can only grow if there'a market demand from people willing to use that token for its purpose or from speculators. But, as at now, most ICOS distribute tokens which don't have immediate utility for its users. Because most blockchain innovations are still far from reaching mass adoption, the demand of tokens by real users is slim. Hence, speculators who have no use for the tokens are the ones in control of the game now. Because of lack of enough market demand (owing to low utility), the tokens are liable to be dumped.

HUGE ICO DISCOUNTS
In the quest to gain more funds from their ICOs, most companies now offer huge discounts ( I have seen some ICOs offer 100% discounts) this will only attract greedy speculators who will be ready to dump, once the said token hits exchanges. This has hurt a lot of ICOs but i wonder why many still do it. If a company's  tokens have  real quality utility, they needn't give out such huge discounts in order to attract people. Quality needn't be cheap to succeed.

THE BOUNTY HUNTERS

They are a major contributor too. Most bounty hunters don't really care about the value of a token. All they wait for is for the tokens to launch on exchanges, so they could off-load their bags.

Even though the percentage allocated to bounty hunters is usually minimal, market dump still occurs because, at the launch of those tokens on exchanges, there is usually low volume. Hence, even as little as a handful of sellers can crash the price.

POOR MARKETING

This is the one single aspect that makes or breaks ICOs. Yet, it's an aspect that many ICOs lag at.

The value of a token relies deeply on the Buzz it creates.  Great marketing is paramount for the healthough of tokens. If a company has got great products but bad marketing, no one will see the potential that company has to offer. Level of marketing explains why some moderate  blockchain innovations have their token value to x100 while other greater blockchain ideas have their token values go negative in percentage.

Simply put, the more Buzz your token creates among people, the more they are willing to hold it (even bounty hunters)

THE OVERALL MARKET CONDITION

This is more like a self-automated dump Grin

This is probably the biggest determinant. As we all know, most cryptocurrencies are pegged to btc. Hence, they go where bitcoin goes (up or down) . All markets like the forex and stock markets have market cycles. Cryptocurrencies is not am exception. You can have very good marketing, great product and a lot of hodlers. Yet, your token still dumps. This isn't your fault. The market cycle is a predictable cycle that occurs every year in every market. In this case, dump is inevitable.

HOW CAN THIS CAN BE STOPPED

MAKE HOLDERS HAVE A REASON TO HODL!

It all comes down to utility. If a project distributes tokens that  can'take be used for anything yet, these companies should find a way to give incentives to hollers (while they build their project)

Such incentives could be
- 5% addition other hodlers's tokens every month: this has worked for many ICOs. Hyperbridge currently does this. Their tokens dumped but the moment they announce this, the tokens price went back up. It works because people believe they will get more by just hodling. This helps preserve the value of the tokens while  the companies work on building real utilities for the tokens.

-access to certain products services by holding certain amounts of tokens: Users would be widling to buy more to access those services if it suites them.

Just give the hodlers a good reason to HODL. If there's  no reason, then create one.

COMPANIES SHOULD IMPROVE IN THEIR MARKETING CAMPAIGNS

Companies should tighten their belts when it comes to marketing. As I said, nothing is more important than good marketing.

AN EMISSION TECHNIQUE SHOULD BE USED FOR HEAVY-LOAD BOUNTIES

Bounty managers should have a smart contract system that emits the rewards of bounty hunters to their wallets in chunks. That way, before bounty hunters recieve all their tokens, that token's market must have recieved enough volume to become unshakeable by bounty tokens.

Yea. The Chinese lends money to African countries. Then, when we can't pay back, they take their money back in form of our natural resources.
78  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So, let's talk about that new abortion law... on: February 07, 2019, 04:18:28 PM
The medical and religious ethics correlate quite well when it comes to human lives. Medically, aborting a viable fetus is synonymous to taking a life. Unless the fetus is not medically viable or not performing the abortion could risk the life of the mother, then I don't think abortion should be legally allowed.

A part of the New York abortion law states that, "A health care practitioner may perform an abortion when, according to the practitioner’s reasonable and good faith professional judgment based on the facts of the patient’s case: the patient is within twenty-four weeks from the commencement of pregnancy, or there is an absence of fetal viability, or the abortion is necessary to protect the patient’s  life or health.”

the part of this law I don't support is the issue of legalizing the abortion occuring before the 24th week of pregnancy (The 3rd trimester) Owing to the fact that the vast majority of abortions take place before the 24th week of pregnancy, the law is virtually covering over 90% of abortions without any segregation as to whether the fetus is be fit for delivery or not.

In my opinion ( also from the religious and medical perspective), Provided the fetus is viable and it's delivery will not risk the life of the mother, the baby reserves the rights to be born. Even if the mother would give him out to a charity home of some sort, LET HIM STILL BE BORN.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will other coins beat bitcoin in the future? on: February 07, 2019, 02:31:54 PM
Do you mean beat bitcoin in price, popularity or in functionality? Well, bitcoin, up till now, remains the strongest and purest  blockchain  ( having being built with the purest programming langiage, C). Despite the fact that bitcoin is not a smart contract platform, it remains the strongest public ledger.

Hence, in terms of storage and transfer of value , I'd say bitcoin will forever remain the most popular, even if stronger blockchains emerge in the future.

If stronger blockchains do emerge in the future, then, in terms of functionality, bitcoin might be beaten (But this will take a lot of work!)

In terms of price... It's too early make a conclusion as to whether bitcoin will remain number 1 (Although, this is very likely). Am important determinant is the amount of impact future blockchain infrastructures  will have on other sectors to warrant a competition.

In general, It will be hard for abother coin to beat bitcoin, but not impossible.

80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: how do you see the market? on: February 06, 2019, 03:11:16 PM
I wish i read this post when you first posted it. The market is down now. In my experience, there are a couple of choices you have in this current market situation, depending on what kind of a trader you are.

1) If you'read a short-term trader, then I'm sorry, the market isn't the best for short-term positions right now.

2) If you'read medium term trader, then you might have one more chance to buy at around 90 and sell at 200 (based on my analyses

3) If you're a long-term trader/investor who doesn'the really care about short/medium term moves and can wait for 2-4 years, then Congrats!!! Just HODL... Your profits will be big!!
