61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WHICH CONCEPTS WOULD YOU HIGHLIGHT THE MOST WHILE EXPLAINING BITCOIN? on: November 13, 2018, 06:49:19 PM
When explaining bitcoin to someone who didnt previously know about it i always pointed out the fact that bitcoin users are in control of their own finances, no middleman needed when sending funds to someone else.
I always have to point out bitcoins security and how it has never been hacked.
62  Economy / Economics / Re: Have you ever thought of bringing back the Middleman - but decentralized? on: November 13, 2018, 08:03:49 AM
I understand the intention behind this, however, I don't see how any community can be totally unbiased. It is simply impossible, and a fee based model would easily be corrupted.

The blockchain is the only middleman that matters in crypto, why would the community need another one? Scams are the more reason why folks should be careful how and to whom the spend their coins. Anything centralized can be manipulated to benefit whoever is running it. A bad idea if you ask me.

Bitcoin was created to cut out the middleman and eliminate the need for trust.
Yes there are hacks and scams happening and decent people are being affected but that is the cost of having a decentralised and open currency we have and enjoy.
I can see the point of the article and it is possible that some form of arbritige could be formed,
What kind of power would they have though?
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin ever exist in currency notes? on: November 12, 2018, 11:12:21 PM
How can transactions be verifued and confirmed if people are handing paper notes around the place. I think the whole idea is absurd to be honest. "One step forward, two steps back"
64  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin 250K in 2022? on: November 12, 2018, 11:09:40 PM
So hes basing this prediction on market share, which is fine but its hard to know what route bitcoin will take and how much adoption is going to happen in the next 3 or 4 years. Its great to hear some positivity.

66  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Women in Crypto - Where are they and who are they? on: November 04, 2018, 09:29:04 AM
There are a few threads on the forum looking to see if and how many women there are in crypto.

Does it matter? Whats the fascination?

We dont read threads looking to see how many people under 20 there are or how many over 60's there are, or how many people have helicopters?
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We can’t trust anyone! on: November 04, 2018, 09:21:57 AM
One of the first lesson i learned on the beginners and help threads was not to trust anyone.

There are a lot of people who would do nearly anything with their funds in order to expand and make a profit, to the extent that logic sometimes is abandoned.

69  Economy / Economics / Re: ECONOMIC ANALYSIS/RESEARCH POLL: Cryptocurrency replacing fiat in the future? on: November 04, 2018, 09:11:45 AM
I believe countries will be creating their own digital currency based on blockchain technology and bitcoin will continue to be used by people looking for an alternative, like now.

This can be applied to Bitcoin, especially in 2017/2018

BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME
72  Other / Meta / Re: Annual Comparison of User Registrations on: October 29, 2018, 09:15:47 AM
The boost in registrations in 2018 could also have been generated to a degree by the all time high.
The stats are very interesting, like 2009 20 registrations.
I wonder what the mindset was? Did they evey envisage the forum growing to its current level?
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Brexit will impact bitcoin on: October 23, 2018, 04:21:49 PM
maybe BREXIT will be good for Bitcoin, maybe more british people will turn some attention to bitcoin when the sterling starts to slide.
maybe they have already?
74  Other / Archival / Re: No more fake news on: October 23, 2018, 04:19:26 PM

Its a good application all right and a real possible project, the trouble is getting it up and running and getting people to back it properly is a challenge.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [LTC] Litecoin future in 2018 on: August 20, 2018, 06:47:13 AM
I really cannot see Litecoin being abondonned. It is a solid tech and i believe going forward it will continue to be used for payments.
It will also be adopted more and will rise again just as Bitcoin will.
It just may take time.
76  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LIKE IT OR NOT, BITCOIN IS AN INVESTMENT on: August 14, 2018, 09:58:53 PM
Not many would disagree that bitcoin is an investment but it still carries its designed function as a means of payment.
As above anything can be turned into an investment.
It really does come down to supply and demand,
something which plays right into bitcoin status of limited supply and increasing demand.

78  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Talk Taxes on: August 12, 2018, 06:44:13 PM
As per many people here, imposing taxes on bitcoin may lead to get bitcoin payment system legalized. It may sound as an indirect way still it seems as an easy way to convince the governments. I do believe when each and every need of our living will be available for bitcoins then we never need to worry on taxes on bitcoins. But people here, instead of making business to adopt bitcoins, just concerning on escaping from taxes or how to remain as a bitcoiner yet tax-free.

Just talking from the norms where I do live, I never need to worry on paying taxes for my bitcoins but when I am encashing bitcoins for my fiats then I am obviously becoming taxable. I guess this is the situation for other country people also. Bitcoin system helps us to save it tax-free, if that also not possible then we really need to worry and need to act immediately.

Yes this is it. Bitcoin cannot be taxed directly. It is only when we change bitcoin for fiat.

I would say the majority of countriss will treat Bitcoin as an investment and tax it with capital gains tax like we see recently with Isreal.
