Hi Tranz.
It seems in the current client if you enable the option for minimize to system tray, if you close the program by clicking X in the top right it just minimizes instead. Bug?

Akula999,
So if you have coin control, then click on it. It will show you all of your blocks (or piles) of coins. The age listed needs to be over 8.8 days to have a chance at staking. Potential Stake shows you how many coins you would get as a result if that block staked.
Finally, just having the wallet open is not "good enough". You need to make sure that the wallet is unlocked. In the top right if you see:
Lock Wallet, means that your wallet should be unlocked for staking. Unlock Wallet, means that your wallet is locked and will not stake despite having the wallet open. You need to click on it, enter your password, ensure that their is a checkmark in "For staking only".

*snip* When you don’t open a wallet, your blocks accumulate weight, but the process of hashing isn’t active, just like with a miner turned off. If your wallet is open, when a block reaches the min age of 8.8 days, the process of minting begins. When a correct hash is found, you get a reward, just like with Bitcoin. You can open your wallet from time to time after 8.8 days of block maturity, but it's better to keep it open 24/7, if you have mature blocks. Here is a more detailed article about PoS. Hi, im new to PoS in general and i am trying to better understand how this works 1) with your wallet open and with the weight of the blocks at 0, you are not staking 2) once your wallet is closed the blocks begin to gain weight 3) after 8.8 days you are eligible for getting rewarded and this requires having the wallet open. With the wallet open its "hashing" and eventually you will get the right hash and get rewarded? I've also read that having your wallet encrypted and/or locked will prevent the staking from occurring is this correct?

Minergate.com would be a great option. They are pretty low on hash and offer noob friendly GUI miner.
Seriously its as easy as download, install, set to maximum number of CPU/GPU theads then click Start. They even offer web-based mining so you can still help contribute hash while browsing the net!

I just wanted to drop in and say thanks to both Smooth and TFM for continuing to work together to get this potential exploit identified and patched!

*snip* I'm sorry if you do not like the facts but seriously I do not have any interest in saving, improving, investing or attacking XMR.
If sure if something existed you could easily raise a decent sum for the vulnerability via donations. Not supporting XMR directly but all the CN coins. Seems a waste of all that research to just burn it.

I'm down for one. But would like to confirm availability prior to sending.

I would like to say a big THANK YOU to the Monero Devs and its community
Devs *Quickly identifying, releasing and sharing a fix *Forum updates / damage control *Exchange notification

What he is really doing is trying to attack XMR in order to create controversy and therefore more advertisement for his IPO (AFAICT its IPO since his title says so...) He is doing nothing else than spamming wall of texts on other coins threads about the one coin he is bagholding... Either playing the good guy that wants to cooperate or the bad guy... More exposure more noobs will get dumped...
As soon as I saw his posts in XMR threads, that's exactly what I think too.

Im just pointing out that roughly 100 pages ago this thread and the official XMR thread were filled with "XMR BOTNET" and other garbage that has turned out to be false.

This would explain the "Monero Botnet" that was quite the rave 100ish pages ago

"I want to recover my account from my 24 work seed" ?!
If you find something misspelled the devs ask after they have a more formal version available to let them know via github that the wording should be changed or advise of spelling errors, etc.

All I can say to the OP is thank you for your analysis. Many among those of us who have invested in XMR (Monero) have very strong suspicions and concerns regarding the whole CryptoNote/Bytecoin situation (that is why we invested in XMR), and your analysis has confirmed our suspicions and concerns.
Ditto!

Great job Monero devs on the Wallet/Account.

Please dont feed the obvious trolls about Darkcoin (or any other already debunked coins) On a side note, this thread has gained 5 pages in one day. It would seem the more they are trolling this thread, the more its kept at the number 1 position in this subsection for all to see, causing more people to be informed about XMR.
