61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: April 05, 2016, 03:33:48 AM
Yes it is adedication. It was a full time job, all cores runs 4 years nonstop with 100%  and costs a lot of power, maybe 2500 USD or EUR for this one ! ..but it is my favorite hobby. The PC was undervolted ,so the CPU max 60 degrees on very hot summer days and near noiseless. Both PCs have only 230W under full load.

(Sorry for my bad english sometimes.)

wow, congratulations on your new record!

and welcome to Riecoin!

So you don't want to share the code that is entirely your choice but would you not consider disabling new accounts while your pool has greater than 50% of the network hashrate in order to further decentralize the ric network?

I agree that would be the right thing to do. Miners should spread the hashes!

Hello Pool Admins what about my request of explanation?

Hi, I'd like to comment that a test of 30 minutes is too short to get significative data. Also, shares per second is a good measure but if you don't trust the mining software or the pool the real measure you have to compare is RIC mined per day (or your preferred unit of time), that should tell you which are the best miner and pool to use.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: January 25, 2016, 02:38:36 PM
Considered that some users want only to debate (perhaps out of jealousy?) about my work, from now I will be more than happy to answer to any technical request or related to problems with the pool or the miner. For all the other nonsense comments you not expect my reply.Subjects who speak backdoor on xptMiner .... but let us pleasure!  Roll Eyes I remind everyone that you are free to mine how and where it seems more appropriate
Thank you all
As I wrote before, I could not pay you anything more than respect on the work you have done.

But keeping code from a sharing community is NOT how a community works. So my call to boycott still stands until you release the code to everybody else.
I even go as far as calling out Gatra and dga to make a comment about your behavior. If they think all is fine, I guess all I can do is sell my mined RIC and abandon the coin.

    one4many

P.S.: Also please prove that there IS NO backdoor in your code.

Hi, these are my thoughts:

- I believe there is no GPL license on the miners, so he doesn't have to release the source code if he doesn't want to

- Of course, as always, I recommend people take their precautions when using closed binaries

- I'm very interested in knowing about how the optimizations work, so I'll just ask:
Simba, could you please describe what you did to increase the performance?

- one4many, I hope you understand the license and even if you dislike Simba's actions not leave us because of this.

Regards,
Gatra

Dev you should modify thee page, none of the pools here is actually working and really it gives a bad look for the project, it is only about remove 2 lines and add the only actually working: http://riepool.ddns.net, too i would like if riecoin could have some dice site it can bring  some users and buy pressure

You're right, I updated the page. I didn't remove the others because they may be only temporarily down because of the DDOS attacks.

There may be others, but I know of a dice site (plus coinbomb and transparent Ponzi games) here: https://cryptap.us/ric/dice/

here's nomp node.js pool server code for riecoin

https://github.com/rascal71/node-open-mining-portal

Merry xmas Riecoin!

Thanks, I'll take a look at it.
Would you like me to link to your pool from the OP and from the riecoin.org site, or is still beta?
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 18, 2015, 06:53:20 PM
Yes, it's modified node.js server. Pool is finding blocks and seems to be working fine. Will make code public after it runs a few days.

great! congratulations and kudos on the custom node.js server.

temporary riecoin pool

http://198.27.67.130:8888

nice! did you modify the node.js server for RIC or are you using the python stratum-mining?
can you confirm you found blocks?
69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 17, 2015, 07:16:27 PM
The pool is ready! If you want to please test its functioning so I can do any other debugging.

The link to the pool is: http://2.236.74.45 (RiePool)
Soon I will add a domain name.

On site there are available binaries for Linux and Windows OS

The Round Earnings blocks confirmations is set to 80 blocks.

I remember that there is no commission on pool (0% fees) or fees transaction!

Thank you all

The http address for the miner has been corrected on the HomePage.

The script execution is "xptminer http://2.236.74.45:8000 -m -o -u username -p password"

Thanks so much

it's alive!
congratulations on your first blocks!

Can modify the wallet program, so he directly supports Stratum protocol.

Does anybody know of a coin that has stratum directly in the daemon? I could merge it into RIC if I found one.
Otherwise, implementing getwork or gbt in the miners would be faster
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 14, 2015, 02:48:16 PM
But for yPool with xpt protocol can work

cloudflare works as a cache, so it doesn't work for attacks that target the mining protocols, either stratum or xpt.
a proxy may work for tcp syn flood attacks, but if they attack the servers with "real" connections, it's harder to defend.

What we really need now I believe is someone who can modify dave andersons ric miner to solo mine into the wallet with fallback capability. In the case that the pools go down the miner should be able to attempt to connect to other pools if available, if not connect to local wallet to solo mine. In this case attacks on the pools become redundant as the hash power stays on the network.

yes, I started to work in this direction but I never finished it. I'll get into it.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: December 12, 2015, 01:40:02 AM
is it possible to solo mine using fastrie miner, https://github.com/gatra/fastrie/tree/stratum/xptMiner   ?, if it is how do you aim it at your wallet, etc. , thanks.

Not directly at your wallet, but it's possible if you set up a stratum server and point the miner to it. https://github.com/gatra/stratum-mining
here is a guide, https://github.com/MPOS/php-mpos/wiki/Quick-Start-Guide, you would need mysql or other supported database and if you only want to mine solo you can skip the MPOS and the cronjobs part. It's not that hard but I don't recommend it if you don't know what you're doing.

Relax. I believe that the long term impact of these events will lead to a more decentralized riecoin network and eventual growth.

+1

But not very long term: it's already happening, we only had ypool, now we have ypool, gpupool, and hopefully xpoolx again soon.
75  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin: constellations POW *CPU* HARD FORK successful, world record on: October 30, 2015, 07:48:08 PM
You can't solomining cause wallet is stuck at block 355665 that's the reason of the invalid shares on xpoolx.com

Solo mining would work, and ypool is back online now. I'd like more pools so I still want to see xpoolx working, I'll investigate the invalid shares problem. The issue is either on the pool or the miner, not the wallet.

Hi!

The blockchain can be downloaded from here: http://riecoin.org/RiecoinBlockchainOCT2015.zip (about 440Mb)

Thanks!

ypool seems fine, but deposits and withdrawals have been disabled at poloniex for a few days now.

bs!

Poloniex works great. So does btc38.

I just edited the OP with the new services by cryptap.us

- Paper wallet
- Faucet
- copay for RIC
- Online wallet
- Dice game

cool stuff!
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What cryptocurrencies have been innovative (introduced new technology) on: March 19, 2015, 09:56:53 PM
primecoin, riecoin and gapcoin all innovated different useful PoW algorithms. Regarding the technical innovative aspects, Riecoin is the best (of course, I'm Riecoin's dev).

sapience uses a lot of buzzwords but nothing technical, they didn't innovate anything yet. It's vaporware, they have a 14min video that actually says nothing, and if you ask me... it smells bad

ethereum includes a turing-complete script language that allows for lots of kinds of smart contracts. I think it's still vaporware (ie they didn't deliver yet), but there are techincal discussions were they show competence and what they claim is possible and might actually work
